ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר

Καὶ σὺ μὴ λάβῃς γυναῖκα, λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ,

And you, do not take a wife, says the Tetragrammaton, God of Israel,

לא תקח לך אשה ולא יהיו לך בנים ובנות במקום הזה

καὶ οὐ γεννηθήσεταί σοι υἱὸς οὐδὲ θυγάτηρ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ.

and let no sons or daughters be born to you in this place.

כי כה אמר יהוה על הבנים ועל הבנות הילודים במקום הזה ועל אמתם הילדות אותם ועל אבותם המולדים אותם בארץ הזאת

ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος περὶ τῶν υἱῶν καὶ περὶ τῶν θυγατέρων τῶν γεννωμένων ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ καὶ περὶ τῶν μητέρων αὐτῶν τῶν τετοκυιῶν αὐτοὺς καὶ περὶ τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν τῶν γεγεννηκότων αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ

For thus says the Tetragrammaton concerning the sons and daughters born in this place, the mothers who bear them and the fathers who beget them in this land:

ממותי תחלאים ימתו לא יספדו ולא יקברו לדמן על פני האדמה יהיו ובחרב וברעב יכלו והיתה נבלתם למאכל לעוף השמים ולבהמת הארץ

Ἐν θανάτῳ νοσερῷ ἀποθανοῦνται, οὐ κοπήσονται καὶ οὐ ταφήσονται· εἰς παράδειγμα ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς ἔσονται καὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς καὶ τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ· ἐν μαχαίρᾳ πεσοῦνται καὶ ἐν λιμῷ συντελεσθήσονται.

They shall die painful and grievous deaths, they shall not be mournedⓘ nor buried, they shall become like dungⓘ spread upon the face of the ground; by sword and by famine they shall be consumed.

כי כה אמר יהוה אל תבוא בית מרזח ואל תלך לספוד ואל תנד להם כי אספתי את שלומי מאת העם הזה נאם יהוה את החסד ואת הרחמים

Ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ὃς τὴν ἐλπίδα ἔχει ἐπ’ ἄνθρωπον καὶ στηρίσει σάρκα βραχίονος αὐτοῦ ἐπ’ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπὸ κυρίου ἀποστῇ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ·

Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes the arm of fleshⓘ his support, and whose heart turns away from the Tetragrammaton:

ומתו גדלים וקטנים בארץ הזאת לא יקברו ולא יספדו להם ולא יתגדד ולא יקרח להם

καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἡ ἀγριομυρίκη ἡ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, οὐκ ὄψεται ὅταν ἔλθῃ τὰ ἀγαθά, καὶ κατασκηνώσει ἐν ἁλίμοις καὶ ἐν ἐρήμῳ, ἐν γῇ ἁλμυρᾷ ἥτις οὐ κατοικεῖται.

he shall be like the tamariskⓘ in the desert wilderness, he shall not see when good comes, he shall dwell in the parched places of the desert, a salt land and uninhabited.

ולא יפרסו להם על אבל לנחמו על מת ולא ישקו אותם כוס תנחומים על אביו ועל אמו

καὶ εὐλογημένος ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ὃς πέποιθεν ἐπὶ τῷ κυρίῳ, καὶ ἔσται κύριος ἐλπὶς αὐτοῦ·

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Tetragrammaton, and the Tetragrammaton is his firm confidenceⓘ:

ובית משתה לא תבוא לשבת אותם לאכל ולשתות

καὶ ἔσται ὡς ξύλον εὐθηνοῦν παρ’ ὕδατα καὶ ἐπὶ ἰκμάδα βαλεῖ ῥίζας αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσεται ὅταν ἔλθῃ καῦμα, καὶ ἔσται ἐπ’ αὐτῷ στελέχη ἀλσώδη, ἐν ἐνιαυτῷ ἀβροχίας οὐ φοβηθήσεται καὶ οὐ διαλείψει ποιῶν καρπόν. –

he shall be like a treeⓘ planted beside the waters, that sends its roots toward the stream; it does not fear when heat comes, its foliage remains green and lush; in a year of droughtⓘ it has no anxiety and does not cease to bear fruit.

כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל הנני משבית מן המקום הזה לעיניכם ובימיכם קול ששון וקול שמחה קול חתן וקול כלה

βαθεῖα ἡ καρδία παρὰ πάντα, καὶ ἄνθρωπός ἐστιν· καὶ τίς γνώσεται αὐτόν;

More deceitful than all else is the heartⓘ and unfathomable in its depths: who can truly know it?

והיה כי תגיד לעם הזה את כל הדברים האלה ואמרו אליך על מה דבר יהוה עלינו את כל הרעה הגדולה הזאת ומה עוננו ומה חטאתנו אשר חטאנו ליהוה אלהינו

ἐγὼ κύριος ἐτάζων καρδίας καὶ δοκιμάζων νεφροὺς τοῦ δοῦναι ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ κατὰ τοὺς καρποὺς τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων αὐτοῦ. –

I, the Tetragrammaton, search the heartⓘ and test the kidneysⓘ, to give to each according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.

ואמרת אליהם על אשר עזבו אבותיכם אותי נאם יהוה וילכו אחרי אלהים אחרים ויעבדום וישתחוו להם ואתי עזבו ואת תורתי לא שמרו

ἐφώνησεν πέρδιξ, συνήγαγεν ἃ οὐκ ἔτεκεν· ποιῶν πλοῦτον αὐτοῦ οὐ μετὰ κρίσεως, ἐν ἡμίσει ἡμερῶν αὐτοῦ ἐγκαταλείψουσιν αὐτόν, καὶ ἐπ’ ἐσχάτων αὐτοῦ ἔσται ἄφρων.

Like the partridgeⓘ that hatches eggs it did not lay, so is he who amasses wealth unjustly: at the midpoint of his days he shall leave it, and at his end he shall be seen as a foolⓘ.

ואתם הרעתם לעשות מאבותיכם והנכם הלכים איש אחרי שררות לבו הרע לבלתי שמע אלי

Θρόνος δόξης ὑψωμένος ἁγίασμα ἡμῶν

Throne of gloryⓘ, exalted from the beginning: the place of our sanctuary.

והטלתי אתכם מעל הארץ הזאת על הארץ אשר לא ידעתם אתם ואבותיכם ועבדתם שם את אלהים אחרים יומם ולילה אשר לא אתן לכם חנינה

ὑπομονὴ Ισραηλ κύριε, πάντες οἱ καταλιπόντες σε καταισχυνθήτωσαν, ἀφεστηκότες ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς γραφήτωσαν, ὅτι ἐγκατέλιπον πηγὴν ζωῆς τὸν κύριον. –

Hope of Israel, Tetragrammaton: may all who forsake you be put to shame and dishonoured; may the apostatesⓘ be written in the dust, for they have forsaken the spring of living waterⓘ, the Tetragrammaton.

לכן הנה ימים באים נאם יהוה ולא יאמר עוד חי יהוה אשר העלה את בני ישראל מארץ מצרים

ἴασαί με, κύριε, καὶ ἰαθήσομαι· σῶσόν με, καὶ σωθήσομαι· ὅτι καύχημά μου σὺ εἶ.

Heal me, Tetragrammaton, and I shall be healed, save me and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.

כי אם חי יהוה אשר העלה את בני ישראל מארץ צפון ומכל הארצות אשר הדיחם שמה והשבתים על אדמתם אשר נתתי לאבותם

ἰδοὺ αὐτοὶ λέγουσι πρός με Ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ λόγος κυρίου; ἐλθάτω.

Behold, they say to me in mockery: Where is the word of the Tetragrammatonⓘ? Let it come then!

הנני שלח לדוגים לדיגים רבים נאם יהוה ודיגום ואחרי כן אשלח לרבים צידים וצדום מעל כל הר ומעל כל גבעה ומנקיקי הסלעים

ἐγὼ δὲ οὐκ ἐκοπίασα κατακολουθῶν ὀπίσω σου καὶ ἡμέραν ἀνθρώπου οὐκ ἐπεθύμησα, σὺ ἐπίστῃ· τὰ ἐκπορευόμενα διὰ τῶν χειλέων μου πρὸ προσώπου σού ἐστιν.

But I have not pressed to withdraw from being your shepherdⓘ, nor have I desired the grievous day — you know this; what goes out from my lips is known before your face.

כי עיני על כל דרכיהם לא נסתרו מלפני ולא נצפן עונם מנגד עיני

μὴ γενηθῇς μοι εἰς ἀλλοτρίωσιν φειδόμενός μου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πονηρᾷ.

Do not be a terror to me, you who are my refugeⓘ in the evil day.

ושלמתי ראשונה משנה עונם וחטאתם על חללם את ארצי בנבלת שקוציהם ותועבותיהם מלאו את נחלתי

καταισχυνθήτωσαν οἱ διώκοντές με, καὶ μὴ καταισχυνθείην ἐγώ· πτοηθείησαν αὐτοί, καὶ μὴ πτοηθείην ἐγώ· ἐπάγαγε ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἡμέραν πονηράν, δισσὸν σύντριμμα σύντριψον αὐτούς.

Let my persecutors be put to shame, not me; let them be dismayed, not me; bring upon them the evil day, and with double ruinⓘ shatter them.

יהוה עזי ומעזי ומנוסי ביום צרה אליך גוים יבאו מאפסי ארץ ויאמרו אך שקר נחלו אבותינו הבל ואין בם מועיל

Τάδε λέγει κύριος Βάδισον καὶ στῆθι ἐν πύλαις υἱῶν λαοῦ σου, ἐν αἷς εἰσπορεύονται ἐν αὐταῖς βασιλεῖς Ιουδα καὶ ἐν αἷς ἐκπορεύονται ἐν αὐταῖς, καὶ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πύλαις Ιερουσαλημ

Thus says the Tetragrammaton: Go and stand at the gateⓘ of the sons of the people, through which the kings of Judah enter and go out, and at all the gates of Jerusalem,

היעשה לו אדם אלהים והמה לא אלהים

καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς Ἀκούσατε λόγον κυρίου, βασιλεῖς Ιουδα καὶ πᾶσα Ιουδαία καὶ πᾶσα Ιερουσαλημ οἱ εἰσπορευόμενοι ἐν ταῖς πύλαις ταύταις,

and say to them: Hear the word of the Tetragrammaton, O kings of Judah and all Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem who enter through these gates.

לכן הנני מודיעם בפעם הזאת אודיעם את ידי ואת גבורתי וידעו כי שמי יהוה

τάδε λέγει κύριος Φυλάσσεσθε τὰς ψυχὰς ὑμῶν καὶ μὴ αἴρετε βαστάγματα ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν σαββάτων καὶ μὴ ἐκπορεύεσθε ταῖς πύλαις Ιερουσαλημ

Thus says the Tetragrammaton: Guard your soulsⓘ and carry no burdenⓘ on the day of Shabbàtⓘ, and do not go out through the gates of Jerusalem;
