ואלה דברי הספר אשר שלח ירמיה הנביא מירושלם אל יתר זקני הגולה ואל הכהנים ואל הנביאים ואל כל העם אשר הגלה נבוכדנאצר מירושלם בבלה
Ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους.
These are the words of the letterⓘ that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the rest of the elders of the exileⓘ, to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzarⓘ had deported from Jerusalem to Babylon,

אחרי צאת יכניה המלך והגבירה והסריסים שרי יהודה וירושלם והחרש והמסגר מירושלם
Τάδε λέγει κύριος Ἰδοὺ ὕδατα ἀναβαίνει ἀπὸ βορρᾶ καὶ ἔσται εἰς χειμάρρουν κατακλύζοντα καὶ κατακλύσει γῆν καὶ τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῆς, πόλιν καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν αὐτῇ· καὶ κεκράξονται οἱ ἄνθρωποι, καὶ ἀλαλάξουσιν ἅπαντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν γῆν.
after the departure from Jerusalem of king Jeconiahⓘ, the queen motherⓘ, the eunuchsⓘ, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen and the smithsⓘ,

ביד אלעשה בן שפן וגמריה בן חלקיה אשר שלח צדקיה מלך יהודה אל נבוכדנאצר מלך בבל בבלה לאמר
ἀπὸ φωνῆς ὁρμῆς αὐτοῦ, ἀπὸ τῶν ὁπλῶν τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ σεισμοῦ τῶν ἁρμάτων αὐτοῦ, ἤχου τροχῶν αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐπέστρεψαν πατέρες ἐφ’ υἱοὺς αὐτῶν ἀπὸ ἐκλύσεως χειρῶν αὐτῶν
by the hand of Elasah son of Shaphan and Gemariah son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah had sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. It said:

כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל לכל הגולה אשר הגליתי מירושלם בבלה
ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἐρχομένῃ τοῦ ἀπολέσαι πάντας τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους· καὶ ἀφανιῶ τὴν Τύρον καὶ τὴν Σιδῶνα καὶ πάντας τοὺς καταλοίπους τῆς βοηθείας αὐτῶν, ὅτι ἐξολεθρεύσει κύριος τοὺς καταλοίπους τῶν νήσων.
Thus says the Tetragrammaton of hostsⓘ, the God of Israel, to all the exileⓘ whom I have deported from Jerusalem to Babylon:

בנו בתים ושבו ונטעו גנות ואכלו את פרין
ἥκει φαλάκρωμα ἐπὶ Γάζαν, ἀπερρίφη Ἀσκαλὼν καὶ οἱ κατάλοιποι Ενακιμ. ἕως τίνος κόψεις,
Build houses and dwell in themⓘ, plant gardens and eat their fruit;

קחו נשים והולידו בנים ובנות וקחו לבניכם נשים ואת בנותיכם תנו לאנשים ותלדנה בנים ובנות ורבו שם ואל תמעטו
ἡ μάχαιρα τοῦ κυρίου; ἕως τίνος οὐχ ἡσυχάσεις; ἀποκατάστηθι εἰς τὸν κολεόν σου, ἀνάπαυσαι καὶ ἐπάρθητι.
take wives and beget sons and daughters; take wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiplyⓘ there and do not decrease.

ודרשו את שלום העיר אשר הגליתי אתכם שמה והתפללו בעדה אל יהוה כי בשלומה יהיה לכם שלום
πῶς ἡσυχάσει; καὶ κύριος ἐνετείλατο αὐτῇ ἐπὶ τὴν Ἀσκαλῶνα καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς παραθαλασσίους, ἐπὶ τὰς καταλοίπους, ἐπεγερθῆναι.
Seek the welfare of the cityⓘ where I have deported you, and prayⓘ to the Tetragrammaton on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
