כי יקח איש אשה ובעלה והיה אם לא תמצא חן בעיניו כי מצא בה ערות דבר וכתב לה ספר כריתת ונתן בידה ושלחה מביתו
Ἐὰν δέ τις λάβῃ γυναῖκα καὶ συνοικήσῃ αὐτῇ, καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν μὴ εὕρῃ χάριν ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ, ὅτι εὗρεν ἐν αὐτῇ ἄσχημον πρᾶγμα, καὶ γράψει αὐτῇ βιβλίον ἀποστασίου καὶ δώσει εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξαποστελεῖ αὐτὴν ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ,
When a man takes a womanⓘ and becomes her husbandⓘ, if it then happens that she does not find favor in his eyesⓘ because he has found in her something unseemlyⓘ, he shall write her a writ of repudiationⓘ, place it in her hand and send her awayⓘ from his house.

ויצאה מביתו והלכה והיתה לאיש אחר
καὶ ἀπελθοῦσα γένηται ἀνδρὶ ἑτέρῳ,
She shall go out of his house, go awayⓘ and become the wife of another manⓘ.

ושנאה האיש האחרון וכתב לה ספר כריתת ונתן בידה ושלחה מביתו או כי ימות האיש האחרון אשר לקחה לו לאשה
καὶ μισήσῃ αὐτὴν ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ἔσχατος καὶ γράψει αὐτῇ βιβλίον ἀποστασίου καὶ δώσει εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξαποστελεῖ αὐτὴν ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ, ἢ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ἔσχατος, ὃς ἔλαβεν αὐτὴν ἑαυτῷ γυναῖκα,
If this latter husbandⓘ also takes her in aversionⓘ, writes her a writ of repudiation, places it in her hand and sends her away from his house; or if this latter man who had taken her to himself as wife diesⓘ,

לא יוכל בעלה הראשון אשר שלחה לשוב לקחתה להיות לו לאשה אחרי אשר הטמאה כי תועבה הוא לפני יהוה ולא תחטיא את הארץ אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן לך נחלה
οὐ δυνήσεται ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ πρότερος ὁ ἐξαποστείλας αὐτὴν ἐπαναστρέψας λαβεῖν αὐτὴν ἑαυτῷ γυναῖκα μετὰ τὸ μιανθῆναι αὐτήν, ὅτι βδέλυγμά ἐστιν ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου· καὶ οὐ μιανεῖτε τὴν γῆν, ἣν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν δίδωσιν ὑμῖν ἐν κλήρῳ.
the first husbandⓘ who had sent her away may notⓘ take her again to be his wife, after she has been made impureⓘ, for this is an abominationⓘ before the Tetragrammatonⓘ; and you shall not make the land sinⓘ that the Tetragrammaton your Godⓘ gives you as an inheritanceⓘ.

כי יקח איש אשה חדשה לא יצא בצבא ולא יעבר עליו לכל דבר נקי יהיה לביתו שנה אחת ושמח את אשתו אשר לקח
Ἐὰν δέ τις λάβῃ γυναῖκα προσφάτως, οὐκ ἐξελεύσεται εἰς τὸν πόλεμον, καὶ οὐκ ἐπιβληθήσεται αὐτῷ οὐδὲν πρᾶγμα· ἀθῷος ἔσται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἐνιαυτὸν ἕνα, εὐφρανεῖ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ, ἣν ἔλαβεν.
When a man takes a new wifeⓘ, he shall not go out to warⓘ nor shall any obligationⓘ be imposed on him; he shall remain exemptⓘ for his house one year, and he shall make gladⓘ the wife he has taken.

לא יחבל רחים ורכב כי נפש הוא חבל
Οὐκ ἐνεχυράσεις μύλον οὐδὲ ἐπιμύλιον, ὅτι ψυχὴν οὗτος ἐνεχυράζει.
No one shall take in pledgeⓘ the handmill or the upper millstoneⓘ, for he would be taking in pledge life itselfⓘ.

כי ימצא איש גנב נפש מאחיו מבני ישראל והתעמר בו ומכרו ומת הגנב ההוא ובערת הרע מקרבך
Ἐὰν δὲ ἁλῷ ἄνθρωπος κλέπτων ψυχὴν τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ καταδυναστεύσας αὐτὸν ἀποδῶται, ἀποθανεῖται ὁ κλέπτης ἐκεῖνος· καὶ ἐξαρεῖς τὸν πονηρὸν ἐξ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν.
If a man is found who has kidnapped a personⓘ among his brothers, the children of Israel, and has treated him as a slaveⓘ and then has sold him, that thiefⓘ shall die; thus you shall purge the evil from your midstⓘ.

השמר בנגע הצרעת לשמר מאד ולעשות ככל אשר יורו אתכם הכהנים הלוים כאשר צויתם תשמרו לעשות
Πρόσεχε σεαυτῷ ἐν τῇ ἁφῇ τῆς λέπρας· φυλάξῃ σφόδρα ποιεῖν κατὰ πάντα τὸν νόμον, ὃν ἐὰν ἀναγγείλωσιν ὑμῖν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ Λευῖται· ὃν τρόπον ἐνετειλάμην ὑμῖν, φυλάξασθε ποιεῖν.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——Take heed with all care in the plague of leprosy, and observe with great diligence to do according to all the lawⓘ, according to all the law that the levitical priests shall announce to you: as I have commanded you, so you shall observe to do.—— Masoretic (MT) ——Take heedⓘ in the plague of leprosyⓘ, observing with great care and doing according to all that the levitical priests shall teach youⓘ, as I have commanded them: you shall observe to do it.

זכור את אשר עשה יהוה אלהיך למרים בדרך בצאתכם ממצרים
μνήσθητι ὅσα ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεός σου τῇ Μαριαμ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ἐκπορευομένων ὑμῶν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου.
Rememberⓘ what the Tetragrammaton your Godⓘ did to Miryàmⓘ along the way, at your going out of Egypt.

כי תשה ברעך משאת מאומה לא תבא אל ביתו לעבט עבטו
Ἐὰν ὀφείλημα ᾖ ἐν τῷ πλησίον σου, ὀφείλημα ὁτιοῦν, οὐκ εἰσελεύσῃ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ ἐνεχυράσαι τὸ ἐνέχυρον·
When you lend to your neighborⓘ any loanⓘ, you shall not enter his house to take his pledgeⓘ.

בחוץ תעמד והאיש אשר אתה נשה בו יוציא אליך את העבוט החוצה
ἔξω στήσῃ, καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος, οὗ τὸ δάνειόν σού ἐστιν ἐν αὐτῷ, ἐξοίσει σοι τὸ ἐνέχυρον ἔξω.
Outside you shall standⓘ, and the man to whom you lend shall bring the pledgeⓘ out to you, outside.

ואם איש עני הוא לא תשכב בעבטו
ἐὰν δὲ ὁ ἄνθρωπος πένηται, οὐ κοιμηθήσῃ ἐν τῷ ἐνεχύρῳ αὐτοῦ·
And if that man is poorⓘ, you shall not lie down keeping his pledge:

השב תשיב לו את העבוט כבא השמש ושכב בשלמתו וברכך ולך תהיה צדקה לפני יהוה אלהיך
ἀποδόσει ἀποδώσεις τὸ ἐνέχυρον αὐτοῦ περὶ δυσμὰς ἡλίου, καὶ κοιμηθήσεται ἐν τῷ ἱματίῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ εὐλογήσει σε, καὶ ἔσται σοι ἐλεημοσύνη ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου.
you shall surely restore it to himⓘ the pledge at the setting of the sunⓘ, so that he may lie down in his cloakⓘ and bless youⓘ; and it shall be to you righteousnessⓘ before the Tetragrammaton your Godⓘ.

לא תעשק שכיר עני ואביון מאחיך או מגרך אשר בארצך בשעריך
Οὐκ ἀπαδικήσεις μισθὸν πένητος καὶ ἐνδεοῦς ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν σου ἢ ἐκ τῶν προσηλύτων τῶν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσίν σου·
You shall not oppress the hired workerⓘ who is poor and needyⓘ among your brothers or among the sojournersⓘ who are in your land, within your gatesⓘ.

ביומו תתן שכרו ולא תבוא עליו השמש כי עני הוא ואליו הוא נשא את נפשו ולא יקרא עליך אל יהוה והיה בך חטא
αὐθημερὸν ἀποδώσεις τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ, οὐκ ἐπιδύσεται ὁ ἥλιος ἐπ’ αὐτῷ, ὅτι πένης ἐστὶν καὶ ἐν αὐτῷ ἔχει τὴν ἐλπίδα· καὶ οὐ καταβοήσεται κατὰ σοῦ πρὸς κύριον, καὶ ἔσται ἐν σοὶ ἁμαρτία.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——on the same day you shall give him his wage, and let not the sun set upon it, for he is poor and in it he sets his hopeⓘ: that he may not cry out against you to the Tetragrammaton, and there be sin in you.—— Masoretic (MT) ——On his dayⓘ you shall give him his wageⓘ, and let not the sun set upon it, for he is poor and to it he lifts up his soulⓘ; and let him not cry out against youⓘ to the Tetragrammatonⓘ, and there be in you guiltⓘ.

לא יומתו אבות על בנים ובנים לא יומתו על אבות איש בחטאו יומתו
Οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται πατέρες ὑπὲρ τέκνων, καὶ υἱοὶ οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται ὑπὲρ πατέρων· ἕκαστος τῇ ἑαυτοῦ ἁμαρτίᾳ ἀποθανεῖται.
The fathers shall not be put to death for the childrenⓘ, nor shall the children be put to death for the fathers: each for his own sinⓘ shall be put to death.

לא תטה משפט גר יתום ולא תחבל בגד אלמנה
Οὐκ ἐκκλινεῖς κρίσιν προσηλύτου καὶ ὀρφανοῦ καὶ χήρας καὶ οὐκ ἐνεχυράσεις ἱμάτιον χήρας·
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——You shall not pervert the justice of the resident sojourner, of the orphan and of the widowⓘ, and you shall not take in pledge the garment of the widow;—— Masoretic (MT) ——You shall not pervert the justiceⓘ of the sojourner and of the orphanⓘ, and you shall not take in pledge the garment of the widowⓘ.

וזכרת כי עבד היית במצרים ויפדך יהוה אלהיך משם על כן אנכי מצוך לעשות את הדבר הזה
καὶ μνησθήσῃ ὅτι οἰκέτης ἦσθα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἐλυτρώσατό σε κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐκεῖθεν· διὰ τοῦτο ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι ποιεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο.
You shall rememberⓘ that you were a slaveⓘ in Egypt and the Tetragrammaton your Godⓘ redeemed youⓘ from there; therefore I command you to do this thingⓘ.

כי תקצר קצירך בשדך ושכחת עמר בשדה לא תשוב לקחתו לגר ליתום ולאלמנה יהיה למען יברכך יהוה אלהיך בכל מעשה ידיך
Ἐὰν δὲ ἀμήσῃς ἀμητὸν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ σου καὶ ἐπιλάθῃ δράγμα ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ σου, οὐκ ἐπαναστραφήσῃ λαβεῖν αὐτό· τῷ πτωχῷ καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ ἔσται, ἵνα εὐλογήσῃ σε κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν σου.
When you reap your harvestⓘ in your field and forget a sheafⓘ in the field, you shall not go back to take it: it shall be for the sojourner, for the orphan and for the widowⓘ, that the Tetragrammaton your God may bless youⓘ in every work of your hands.

כי תחבט זיתך לא תפאר אחריך לגר ליתום ולאלמנה יהיה
ἐὰν δὲ ἐλαιαλογήσῃς, οὐκ ἐπαναστρέψεις καλαμήσασθαι τὰ ὀπίσω σου· τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ ἔσται· καὶ μνησθήσῃ ὅτι οἰκέτης ἦσθα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, διὰ τοῦτο ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι ποιεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——When you beat your olive tree, you shall not return to glean the branches behind you: it shall be for the resident sojourner, for the orphan and for the widow; and you shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egyptⓘ: therefore I command you to do this thing.—— Masoretic (MT) ——When you beat your olive treeⓘ, you shall not go over the branches again behind youⓘ: they shall be for the sojourner, for the orphan and for the widow.

כי תבצר כרמך לא תעולל אחריך לגר ליתום ולאלמנה יהיה
ἐὰν δὲ τρυγήσῃς τὸν ἀμπελῶνά σου, οὐκ ἐπανατρυγήσεις αὐτὸν τὰ ὀπίσω σου· τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ ἔσται·
When you harvest your vineyardⓘ, you shall not glean behind youⓘ: they shall be for the sojourner, for the orphan and for the widow.
22
וזכרת כי עבד היית בארץ מצרים על כן אנכי מצוך לעשות את הדבר הזה
καὶ μνησθήσῃ ὅτι οἰκέτης ἦσθα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, διὰ τοῦτο ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι ποιεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο.
You shall rememberⓘ that you were a slave in the land of Egyptⓘ; therefore I command you to do this thing.
