כל המצוה אשר אנכי מצוך היום תשמרון לעשות למען תחיון ורביתם ובאתם וירשתם את הארץ אשר נשבע יהוה לאבתיכם
Πάσας τὰς ἐντολάς, ἃς ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαι ὑμῖν σήμερον, φυλάξεσθε ποιεῖν, ἵνα ζῆτε καὶ πολυπλασιασθῆτε καὶ εἰσέλθητε καὶ κληρονομήσητε τὴν γῆν, ἣν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ὤμοσεν τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν.
The whole commandmentⓘ that I command you today you shall observe to put into practiceⓘ, so that you may live, may multiply, may enter and take possession ofⓘ the land that the Tetragrammaton swore to your fathersⓘ.

וזכרת את כל הדרך אשר הליכך יהוה אלהיך זה ארבעים שנה במדבר למען ענתך לנסתך לדעת את אשר בלבבך התשמר מצותו מצותיו אם לא
καὶ μνησθήσῃ πᾶσαν τὴν ὁδόν, ἣν ἤγαγέν σε κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ὅπως ἂν κακώσῃ σε καὶ ἐκπειράσῃ σε καὶ διαγνωσθῇ τὰ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου, εἰ φυλάξῃ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ ἢ οὔ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And you shall rememberⓘ all the way along which the Tetragrammaton your God has led you in the wildernessⓘ, in order to afflict you and to put you to the test, so that there might be knownⓘ what is in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And you shall rememberⓘ all the way along which the Tetragrammaton your God has made you walk in these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, to put you to the testⓘ, to know what was in your heartⓘ, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

ויענך וירעבך ויאכלך את המן אשר לא ידעת ולא ידעון אבתיך למען הודעך כי לא על הלחם לבדו יחיה האדם כי על כל מוצא פי יהוה יחיה האדם
καὶ ἐκάκωσέν σε καὶ ἐλιμαγχόνησέν σε καὶ ἐψώμισέν σε τὸ μαννα, ὃ οὐκ εἴδησαν οἱ πατέρες σου, ἵνα ἀναγγείλῃ σοι ὅτι οὐκ ἐπ’ ἄρτῳ μόνῳ ζήσεται ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ἀλλ’ ἐπὶ παντὶ ῥήματι τῷ ἐκπορευομένῳ διὰ στόματος θεοῦ ζήσεται ὁ ἄνθρωπος.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And he afflicted you, he made you suffer hunger and he fed you with the manna, which neither you nor your fathers knew, in order to announce to you that **man shall not live by bread alone, but by every wordⓘ that proceeds out of the mouth of Godⓘ** shall man live.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And he humbled you and he made you suffer hungerⓘ, and he fed you with the mannaⓘ which you did not know nor did your fathers know, in order to make you know that not by bread aloneⓘ does man live, but by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Tetragrammatonⓘ does man live.

שמלתך לא בלתה מעליך ורגלך לא בצקה זה ארבעים שנה
τὰ ἱμάτιά σου οὐ κατετρίβη ἀπὸ σοῦ, οἱ πόδες σου οὐκ ἐτυλώθησαν, ἰδοὺ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη.
Your garmentⓘ did not wear out upon you, and your foot did not swellⓘ in these forty years.

וידעת עם לבבך כי כאשר ייסר איש את בנו יהוה אלהיך מיסרך
καὶ γνώσῃ τῇ καρδίᾳ σου ὅτι ὡς εἴ τις παιδεύσαι ἄνθρωπος τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ, οὕτως κύριος ὁ θεός σου παιδεύσει σε,
And you shall acknowledge in your heartⓘ that, as a man corrects his sonⓘ, so the Tetragrammaton your God corrects you.

ושמרת את מצות יהוה אלהיך ללכת בדרכיו וליראה אתו
καὶ φυλάξῃ τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου πορεύεσθαι ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ φοβεῖσθαι αὐτόν.
And you shall keep the commandments of the Tetragrammaton your God, in order to walk in his waysⓘ and in order to fear himⓘ.

כי יהוה אלהיך מביאך אל ארץ טובה ארץ נחלי מים עינת ותהמת יצאים בבקעה ובהר
ὁ γὰρ κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰσάγει σε εἰς γῆν ἀγαθὴν καὶ πολλήν, οὗ χείμαρροι ὑδάτων καὶ πηγαὶ ἀβύσσων ἐκπορευόμεναι διὰ τῶν πεδίων καὶ διὰ τῶν ὀρέων·
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——For the Tetragrammaton your God is bringing you into a **good and vastⓘ** land: a land of streams of water, of springs and of deep waters that gush forth in the valleys and on the mountains;—— Masoretic (MT) ——For the Tetragrammaton your God is bringing you toward a good landⓘ, a land of streams of water, of springs and abyssesⓘ that gush forth in the plain and on the mountain.

ארץ חטה ושערה וגפן ותאנה ורמון ארץ זית שמן ודבש
γῆ πυροῦ καὶ κριθῆς, ἄμπελοι, συκαῖ, ῥόαι, γῆ ἐλαίας ἐλαίου καὶ μέλιτος·
A land of wheat and barley, of vine and fig and pomegranateⓘ, a land of oil-olive and of honeyⓘ.

ארץ אשר לא במסכנת תאכל בה לחם לא תחסר כל בה ארץ אשר אבניה ברזל ומהרריה תחצב נחשת
γῆ, ἐφ’ ἧς οὐ μετὰ πτωχείας φάγῃ τὸν ἄρτον σου καὶ οὐκ ἐνδεηθήσῃ οὐδὲν ἐπ’ αὐτῆς· γῆ, ἧς οἱ λίθοι σίδηρος, καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὀρέων αὐτῆς μεταλλεύσεις χαλκόν·
A land where not in poverty will you eat breadⓘ, where you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and from whose mountains you will extract copperⓘ.

ואכלת ושבעת וברכת את יהוה אלהיך על הארץ הטבה אשר נתן לך
καὶ φάγῃ καὶ ἐμπλησθήσῃ καὶ εὐλογήσεις κύριον τὸν θεόν σου ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς τῆς ἀγαθῆς, ἧς ἔδωκέν σοι.
And you will eat and be satisfiedⓘ and you will bless the Tetragrammatonⓘ your God for the good land that he has given you.

השמר לך פן תשכח את יהוה אלהיך לבלתי שמר מצותיו ומשפטיו וחקתיו אשר אנכי מצוך היום
πρόσεχε σεαυτῷ, μὴ ἐπιλάθῃ κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου τοῦ μὴ φυλάξαι τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ κρίματα καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτοῦ, ὅσα ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοι σήμερον,
Take heed to yourselfⓘ lest you forgetⓘ the Tetragrammaton your God, so as not to keep his commandments, his judgments and his statutesⓘ that I command you today.

פן תאכל ושבעת ובתים טובים תבנה וישבת
μὴ φαγὼν καὶ ἐμπλησθεὶς καὶ οἰκίας καλὰς οἰκοδομήσας καὶ κατοικήσας ἐν αὐταῖς
Lest you, after having eaten and been satisfied, and built fine housesⓘ and dwelt in them,

ובקרך וצאנך ירבין וכסף וזהב ירבה לך וכל אשר לך ירבה
καὶ τῶν βοῶν σου καὶ τῶν προβάτων σου πληθυνθέντων σοι, ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου πληθυνθέντος σοι καὶ πάντων, ὅσων σοι ἔσται, πληθυνθέντων σοι
and multiplied your livestockⓘ, and silver and gold have multiplied for you and all that is yours has multiplied —

ורם לבבך ושכחת את יהוה אלהיך המוציאך מארץ מצרים מבית עבדים
ὑψωθῇς τῇ καρδίᾳ καὶ ἐπιλάθῃ κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου τοῦ ἐξαγαγόντος σε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἐξ οἴκου δουλείας,
your heart be lifted upⓘ and you forget the Tetragrammaton your God, the one who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondageⓘ.

המוליכך במדבר הגדל והנורא נחש שרף ועקרב וצמאון אשר אין מים המוציא לך מים מצור החלמיש
τοῦ ἀγαγόντος σε διὰ τῆς ἐρήμου τῆς μεγάλης καὶ τῆς φοβερᾶς ἐκείνης, οὗ ὄφις δάκνων καὶ σκορπίος καὶ δίψα, οὗ οὐκ ἦν ὕδωρ, τοῦ ἐξαγαγόντος σοι ἐκ πέτρας ἀκροτόμου πηγὴν ὕδατος,
The one who made you walk through the great and dreadful wildernessⓘ, of fiery serpent and scorpionⓘ and drought where there is no water; the one who made water gush for you out of the rock of flintⓘ.

המאכלך מן במדבר אשר לא ידעון אבתיך למען ענתך ולמען נסתך להיטבך באחריתך
τοῦ ψωμίσαντός σε τὸ μαννα ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ὃ οὐκ εἴδησαν οἱ πατέρες σου, ἵνα κακώσῃ σε καὶ ἐκπειράσῃ σε καὶ εὖ σε ποιήσῃ ἐπ’ ἐσχάτων τῶν ἡμερῶν σου.
The one who fed you with the mannaⓘ in the wilderness, which your fathers did not know, in order to humble you and to put you to the test, in order to do you good at your latter endⓘ.

ואמרת בלבבך כחי ועצם ידי עשה לי את החיל הזה
μὴ εἴπῃς ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου Ἡ ἰσχύς μου καὶ τὸ κράτος τῆς χειρός μου ἐποίησέν μοι τὴν δύναμιν τὴν μεγάλην ταύτην·
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——Do not sayⓘ in your heart: «My strength and the vigour of my hand have procured for me this great power»;—— Masoretic (MT) ——And you will say in your heartⓘ: My strength and the might of my handⓘ have procured for me this wealthⓘ.

וזכרת את יהוה אלהיך כי הוא הנתן לך כח לעשות חיל למען הקים את בריתו אשר נשבע לאבתיך כיום הזה
καὶ μνησθήσῃ κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου, ὅτι αὐτός σοι δίδωσιν ἰσχὺν τοῦ ποιῆσαι δύναμιν καὶ ἵνα στήσῃ τὴν διαθήκην αὐτοῦ, ἣν ὤμοσεν κύριος τοῖς πατράσιν σου, ὡς σήμερον.
And you will remember the Tetragrammatonⓘ your God, for it is he who gives you the strength to produce wealth, in order to fulfil his covenantⓘ that he swore to your fathers, as on this day.

והיה אם שכח תשכח את יהוה אלהיך והלכת אחרי אלהים אחרים ועבדתם והשתחוית להם העדתי בכם היום כי אבד תאבדון
καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν λήθῃ ἐπιλάθῃ κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου καὶ πορευθῇς ὀπίσω θεῶν ἑτέρων καὶ λατρεύσῃς αὐτοῖς καὶ προσκυνήσῃς αὐτοῖς, διαμαρτύρομαι ὑμῖν σήμερον τόν τε οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν ὅτι ἀπωλείᾳ ἀπολεῖσθε·
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And it will come to pass that, if you truly forget the Tetragrammaton your God and go after other gods and serve them and bow down before them, I testify today against you the heaven and the earthⓘ, that you will surely perish;—— Masoretic (MT) ——And it will come to pass that, if forgetting you forgetⓘ the Tetragrammaton your God and go after other gods and serve them and bow down before themⓘ, I testify against youⓘ today that perishing you will perishⓘ.
20
כגוים אשר יהוה מאביד מפניכם כן תאבדון עקב לא תשמעון בקול יהוה אלהיכם
καθὰ καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ ἔθνη, ὅσα κύριος ἀπολλύει πρὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν, οὕτως ἀπολεῖσθε, ἀνθ’ ὧν οὐκ ἠκούσατε τῆς φωνῆς κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν.
Like the nationsⓘ that the Tetragrammaton makes perish before you, so you will perish, becauseⓘ you will not have listened to the voiceⓘ of the Tetragrammaton your God.
