Do Not Fear, My Servant Israel

החרישו אלי איים ולאמים יחליפו כח יגשו אז ידברו יחדו למשפט נקרבה
Ἐγκαινίζεσθε πρός με, νῆσοι, οἱ γὰρ ἄρχοντες ἀλλάξουσιν ἰσχύν· ἐγγισάτωσαν καὶ λαλησάτωσαν ἅμα, τότε κρίσιν ἀναγγειλάτωσαν.
ⓘ before me, O islands, and let the peoples renew their strength; let them draw near, then speak: together let us approach ⓘ.

מי העיר ממזרח צדק יקראהו לרגלו יתן לפניו גוים ומלכים ירד יתן כעפר חרבו כקש נדף קשתו
τίς ἐξήγειρεν ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν δικαιοσύνην, ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὴν κατὰ πόδας αὐτοῦ, καὶ πορεύσεται; δώσει ἐναντίον ἐθνῶν καὶ βασιλεῖς ἐκστήσει καὶ δώσει εἰς γῆν τὰς μαχαίρας αὐτῶν καὶ ὡς φρύγανα ἐξωσμένα τὰ τόξα αὐτῶν·
Who raised up from the east one whom ⓘ calls to his feet? He gave nations before him and made him rule over kings; he made his sword like dust, like driven stubble his bow.

ירדפם יעבור שלום ארח ברגליו לא יבוא
καὶ διώξεται αὐτοὺς καὶ διελεύσεται ἐν εἰρήνῃ ἡ ὁδὸς τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ.
He pursues them and passes on unharmed; by a path his feet had never trodden.

מי פעל ועשה קרא הדרות מראש אני יהוה ראשון ואת אחרנים אני הוא
τίς ἐνήργησεν καὶ ἐποίησεν ταῦτα; ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὴν ὁ καλῶν αὐτὴν ἀπὸ γενεῶν ἀρχῆς, ἐγὼ θεὸς πρῶτος, καὶ εἰς τὰ ἐπερχόμενα ἐγώ εἰμι.
Who worked and did this, calling the generations from the beginning? ⓘ, the Tetragrammaton, ⓘ, and with the last ones I am he.

ראו איים וייראו קצות הארץ יחרדו קרבו ויאתיון
εἴδοσαν ἔθνη καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν, τὰ ἄκρα τῆς γῆς ἤγγισαν καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἅμα
The islands saw and feared, the ends of the earth trembled; they drew near and came.

איש את רעהו יעזרו ולאחיו יאמר חזק
κρίνων ἕκαστος τῷ πλησίον καὶ τῷ ἀδελφῷ βοηθῆσαι καὶ ἐρεῖ
Each helps his neighbor and says to his brother: ⓘ.

ויחזק חרש את צרף מחליק פטיש את הולם פעם אמר לדבק טוב הוא ויחזקהו במסמרים לא ימוט
Ἴσχυσεν ἀνὴρ τέκτων καὶ χαλκεὺς τύπτων σφύρῃ ἅμα ἐλαύνων· ποτὲ μὲν ἐρεῖ Σύμβλημα καλόν ἐστιν· ἰσχύρωσαν αὐτὰ ἐν ἥλοις, θήσουσιν αὐτὰ καὶ οὐ κινηθήσονται.
The ⓘ encourages the smelter, the one who smooths with the hammer encourages the one who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering: «It is good»; and he fastens it with nails ⓘ.

ואתה ישראל עבדי יעקב אשר בחרתיך זרע אברהם אהבי
Σὺ δέ, Ισραηλ, παῖς μου Ιακωβ, ὃν ἐξελεξάμην, σπέρμα Αβρααμ, ὃν ἠγάπησα,
But you, Israel, my ⓘ, Jacob whom I have chosen, seed of Abraham ⓘ:

אשר החזקתיך מקצות הארץ ומאציליה קראתיך ואמר לך עבדי אתה בחרתיך ולא מאסתיך
οὗ ἀντελαβόμην ἀπ’ ἄκρων τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐκ τῶν σκοπιῶν αὐτῆς ἐκάλεσά σε καὶ εἶπά σοι Παῖς μου εἶ, ἐξελεξάμην σε καὶ οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπόν σε,
you whom I took from the ends of the earth and from its farthest corners I called you, and said to you: «You are my servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you».

אל תירא כי עמך אני אל תשתע כי אני אלהיך אמצתיך אף עזרתיך אף תמכתיך בימין צדקי
μὴ φοβοῦ, μετὰ σοῦ γάρ εἰμι· μὴ πλανῶ, ἐγὼ γάρ εἰμι ὁ θεός σου ὁ ἐνισχύσας σε καὶ ἐβοήθησά σοι καὶ ἠσφαλισάμην σε τῇ δεξιᾷ τῇ δικαίᾳ μου.
ⓘ, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I strengthen you, yes I help you, yes I uphold you with the ⓘ.

הן יבשו ויכלמו כל הנחרים בך יהיו כאין ויאבדו אנשי ריבך
ἰδοὺ αἰσχυνθήσονται καὶ ἐντραπήσονται πάντες οἱ ἀντικείμενοί σοι· ἔσονται γὰρ ὡς οὐκ ὄντες καὶ ἀπολοῦνται πάντες οἱ ἀντίδικοί σου.
Behold, all those who are incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing and shall perish, the men who contend with you.

תבקשם ולא תמצאם אנשי מצתך יהיו כאין וכאפס אנשי מלחמתך
ζητήσεις αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐ μὴ εὕρῃς τοὺς ἀνθρώπους, οἳ παροινήσουσιν εἰς σέ· ἔσονται γὰρ ὡς οὐκ ὄντες καὶ οὐκ ἔσονται οἱ ἀντιπολεμοῦντές σε.
You shall seek them and not find them, the men who quarrel with you; they shall be as nothing and as naught, the men who war against you.

כי אני יהוה אלהיך מחזיק ימינך האמר לך אל תירא אני עזרתיך
ὅτι ἐγὼ ὁ θεός σου ὁ κρατῶν τῆς δεξιᾶς σου, ὁ λέγων σοι Μὴ φοβοῦ,
For I, the Tetragrammaton, your God, ⓘ; I say to you: «Do not fear, I help you».

אל תיראי תולעת יעקב מתי ישראל אני עזרתיך נאם יהוה וגאלך קדוש ישראל
Ιακωβ, ὀλιγοστὸς Ισραηλ· ἐγὼ ἐβοήθησά σοι, λέγει ὁ θεὸς ὁ λυτρούμενός σε, Ισραηλ.
Do not fear, ⓘ, handful of Israel: I help you, declares the Tetragrammaton, and your ⓘ is the Holy One of Israel.

הנה שמתיך למורג חרוץ חדש בעל פיפיות תדוש הרים ותדק וגבעות כמץ תשים
ἰδοὺ ἐποίησά σε ὡς τροχοὺς ἁμάξης ἀλοῶντας καινοὺς πριστηροειδεῖς, καὶ ἀλοήσεις ὄρη καὶ λεπτυνεῖς βουνοὺς καὶ ὡς χνοῦν θήσεις·
Behold, I have made you a ⓘ new and sharp, with many teeth: you shall thresh the mountains and crush them, and make the hills like chaff.

תזרם ורוח תשאם וסערה תפיץ אותם ואתה תגיל ביהוה בקדוש ישראל תתהלל
καὶ λικμήσεις, καὶ ἄνεμος λήμψεται αὐτούς, καὶ καταιγὶς διασπερεῖ αὐτούς, σὺ δὲ εὐφρανθήσῃ ἐν τοῖς ἁγίοις Ισραηλ. καὶ ἀγαλλιάσονται
You shall winnow them and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest shall scatter them; and you shall rejoice in the Tetragrammaton, in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory.

העניים והאביונים מבקשים מים ואין לשונם בצמא נשתה אני יהוה אענם אלהי ישראל לא אעזבם
οἱ πτωχοὶ καὶ οἱ ἐνδεεῖς· ζητήσουσιν γὰρ ὕδωρ, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται, ἡ γλῶσσα αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῆς δίψης ἐξηράνθη· ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεός, ἐγὼ ἐπακούσομαι, ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ, καὶ οὐκ ἐγκαταλείψω αὐτούς,
The ⓘ seek water and there is none, their tongue is parched with thirst; I, the Tetragrammaton, will answer them, I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

אפתח על שפיים נהרות ובתוך בקעות מעינות אשים מדבר לאגם מים וארץ ציה למוצאי מים
ἀλλὰ ἀνοίξω ἐπὶ τῶν ὀρέων ποταμοὺς καὶ ἐν μέσῳ πεδίων πηγάς, ποιήσω τὴν ἔρημον εἰς ἕλη καὶ τὴν διψῶσαν γῆν ἐν ὑδραγωγοῖς,
I will open ⓘ on the bare heights and springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land springs of water.

אתן במדבר ארז שטה והדס ועץ שמן אשים בערבה ברוש תדהר ותאשור יחדו
θήσω εἰς τὴν ἄνυδρον γῆν κέδρον καὶ πύξον καὶ μυρσίνην καὶ κυπάρισσον καὶ λεύκην,
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the ⓘ and the olive tree; I will set in the steppe the cypress, the elm and the box tree together,

למען יראו וידעו וישימו וישכילו יחדו כי יד יהוה עשתה זאת וקדוש ישראל בראה
ἵνα ἴδωσιν καὶ γνῶσιν καὶ ἐννοηθῶσιν καὶ ἐπιστῶνται ἅμα ὅτι χεὶρ κυρίου ἐποίησεν ταῦτα πάντα καὶ ὁ ἅγιος τοῦ Ισραηλ κατέδειξεν.
so that they may see and know, consider and understand together that the ⓘ has done this and the Holy One of Israel has created it.

קרבו ריבכם יאמר יהוה הגישו עצמותיכם יאמר מלך יעקב
Ἐγγίζει ἡ κρίσις ὑμῶν, λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός· ἤγγισαν αἱ βουλαὶ ὑμῶν, λέγει ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιακωβ.
ⓘ, says the Tetragrammaton; bring your proofs, says the King of Jacob.

יגישו ויגידו לנו את אשר תקרינה הראשנות מה הנה הגידו ונשימה לבנו ונדעה אחריתן או הבאות השמיענו
ἐγγισάτωσαν καὶ ἀναγγειλάτωσαν ὑμῖν ἃ συμβήσεται, ἢ τὰ πρότερα τίνα ἦν εἴπατε, καὶ ἐπιστήσομεν τὸν νοῦν καὶ γνωσόμεθα τί τὰ ἔσχατα, καὶ τὰ ἐπερχόμενα εἴπατε ἡμῖν.
Let them draw near and announce to us what is to happen; the things ⓘ, what they were — tell us, so that we may consider them and know their outcome; or let us hear the things to come.

הגידו האתיות לאחור ונדעה כי אלהים אתם אף תיטיבו ותרעו ונשתעה ונרא ונראה יחדו
ἀναγγείλατε ἡμῖν τὰ ἐπερχόμενα ἐπ’ ἐσχάτου, καὶ γνωσόμεθα ὅτι θεοί ἐστε· εὖ ποιήσατε καὶ κακώσατε, καὶ θαυμασόμεθα καὶ ὀψόμεθα ἅμα·
Announce the things that are to come hereafter, and we shall know that you are gods; do good or do evil, that we may look on together and see.

הן אתם מאין ופעלכם מאפע תועבה יבחר בכם
ὅτι πόθεν ἐστὲ ὑμεῖς καὶ πόθεν ἡ ἐργασία ὑμῶν; ἐκ γῆς· βδέλυγμα ἐξελέξαντο ὑμᾶς.
Behold, you are less than nothing and your work is less than nothing; ⓘ is he who chooses you.

העירותי מצפון ויאת ממזרח שמש יקרא בשמי ויבא סגנים כמו חמר וכמו יוצר ירמס טיט
ἐγὼ δὲ ἤγειρα τὸν ἀπὸ βορρᾶ καὶ τὸν ἀφ’ ἡλίου ἀνατολῶν, κληθήσονται τῷ ὀνόματί μου· ἐρχέσθωσαν ἄρχοντες, καὶ ὡς πηλὸς κεραμέως καὶ ὡς κεραμεὺς καταπατῶν τὸν πηλόν, οὕτως καταπατηθήσεσθε.
I have stirred up one ⓘ and he has come; from the rising of the sun he calls on my name; he treads on rulers as on ⓘ, as the potter treads the clay.

מי הגיד מראש ונדעה ומלפנים ונאמר צדיק אף אין מגיד אף אין משמיע אף אין שמע אמריכם
τίς γὰρ ἀναγγελεῖ τὰ ἐξ ἀρχῆς, ἵνα γνῶμεν, καὶ τὰ ἔμπροσθεν, καὶ ἐροῦμεν ὅτι ἀληθῆ ἐστιν; οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ προλέγων οὐδὲ ὁ ἀκούων ὑμῶν τοὺς λόγους.
Who declared this from the beginning, so that we might know, and beforehand, so that we might say: «He is right»? No one declared it, no one proclaimed it, no one heard your words.

ראשון לציון הנה הנם ולירושלם מבשר אתן
ἀρχὴν Σιων δώσω καὶ Ιερουσαλημ παρακαλέσω εἰς ὁδόν.
First I said to Zion: «Behold, behold them!», and to Jerusalem I will give a ⓘ.
28
וארא ואין איש ומאלה ואין יועץ ואשאלם וישיבו דבר
ἀπὸ γὰρ τῶν ἐθνῶν ἰδοὺ οὐδείς, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν εἰδώλων αὐτῶν οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἀναγγέλλων· καὶ ἐὰν ἐρωτήσω αὐτούς Πόθεν ἐστέ, οὐ μὴ ἀποκριθῶσίν μοι.
I looked and there was no one, among them no counselor; I asked them and they gave no answer.
29
הן כלם און אפס מעשיהם רוח ותהו נסכיהם
εἰσὶν γὰρ οἱ ποιοῦντες ὑμᾶς, καὶ μάτην οἱ πλανῶντες ὑμᾶς.
Behold, they are all ⓘ, nothing are their works; wind and emptiness their molten images.
