הוי אריאל אריאל קרית חנה דוד ספו שנה על שנה חגים ינקפו
Οὐαὶ πόλις Αριηλ, ἣν Δαυιδ ἐπολέμησεν· συναγάγετε γενήματα ἐνιαυτὸν ἐπ’ ἐνιαυτόν, φάγεσθε γὰρ σὺν Μωαβ.
Woe, Arièl, Arièlⓘ, the city where David encamped! Add year upon year, let the feasts complete their roundⓘ.

והציקותי לאריאל והיתה תאניה ואניה והיתה לי כאריאל
ἐκθλίψω γὰρ Αριηλ, καὶ ἔσται αὐτῆς ἡ ἰσχὺς καὶ τὸ πλοῦτος ἐμοί.
I will besiege Arièlⓘ, and there shall be mourning and lamentation, and she shall be to me like a burning hearth.

וחניתי כדור עליך וצרתי עליך מצב והקימתי עליך מצרת
καὶ κυκλώσω ὡς Δαυιδ ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ βαλῶ περὶ σὲ χάρακα καὶ θήσω περὶ σὲ πύργους,
I will encamp like a circle against youⓘ, I will surround you with watchposts and raise up siege-mounds against you.

ושפלת מארץ תדברי ומעפר תשח אמרתך והיה כאוב מארץ קולך ומעפר אמרתך תצפצף
καὶ ταπεινωθήσονται οἱ λόγοι σου εἰς τὴν γῆν, καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν οἱ λόγοι σου δύσονται· καὶ ἔσται ὡς οἱ φωνοῦντες ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἡ φωνή σου, καὶ πρὸς τὸ ἔδαφος ἡ φωνή σου ἀσθενήσει.
Brought low to the ground, you shall speak; from the dust your word shall come out faintly: your voice shall rise from the ground like that of one who is a summoned spiritⓘ, from the dust your word shall whisper.

והיה כאבק דק המון זריך וכמץ עבר המון עריצים והיה לפתע פתאם
καὶ ἔσται ὡς κονιορτὸς ἀπὸ τροχοῦ ὁ πλοῦτος τῶν ἀσεβῶν καὶ ὡς χνοῦς φερόμενος, καὶ ἔσται ὡς στιγμὴ παραχρῆμα
But the multitude of your enemies shall be like fine dustⓘ, the rabble of the violent like chaff blown away by the wind; and suddenly, in a single instant,

מעם יהוה צבאות תפקד ברעם וברעש וקול גדול סופה וסערה ולהב אש אוכלה
παρὰ κυρίου σαβαωθ· ἐπισκοπὴ γὰρ ἔσται μετὰ βροντῆς καὶ σεισμοῦ καὶ φωνῆς μεγάλης, καταιγὶς φερομένη καὶ φλὸξ πυρὸς κατεσθίουσα.
from the Tetragrammaton of hostsⓘ you will be visited, with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and storm and a flame of devouring fire.

והיה כחלום חזון לילה המון כל הגוים הצבאים על אריאל וכל צביה ומצדתה והמציקים לה
καὶ ἔσται ὡς ὁ ἐνυπνιαζόμενος ἐν ὕπνῳ ὁ πλοῦτος τῶν ἐθνῶν πάντων, ὅσοι ἐπεστράτευσαν ἐπὶ Αριηλ, καὶ πάντες οἱ στρατευσάμενοι ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ πάντες οἱ συνηγμένοι ἐπ’ αὐτὴν καὶ θλίβοντες αὐτήν.
And like a dream, a night visionⓘ shall be the multitude of all the nations that make war against Arièl, all those who besiege her, press her, and distress her.

והיה כאשר יחלם הרעב והנה אוכל והקיץ וריקה נפשו וכאשר יחלם הצמא והנה שתה והקיץ והנה עיף ונפשו שוקקה כן יהיה המון כל הגוים הצבאים על הר ציון
καὶ ἔσονται ὡς οἱ ἐν ὕπνῳ πίνοντες καὶ ἔσθοντες, καὶ ἐξαναστάντων μάταιον αὐτῶν τὸ ἐνύπνιον, καὶ ὃν τρόπον ἐνυπνιάζεται ὁ διψῶν ὡς πίνων καὶ ἐξαναστὰς ἔτι διψᾷ, ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ εἰς κενὸν ἤλπισεν, οὕτως ἔσται ὁ πλοῦτος πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν, ὅσοι ἐπεστράτευσαν ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος Σιων.
As one who is hungry dreams of eatingⓘ and wakes with an empty stomach, as one who is thirsty dreams of drinking and wakes parched and craving: so shall be the multitude of all the nations that make war against Mount Zion.

התמהמהו ותמהו השתעשעו ושעו שכרו ולא יין נעו ולא שכר
ἐκλύθητε καὶ ἔκστητε καὶ κραιπαλήσατε οὐκ ἀπὸ σικερα οὐδὲ ἀπὸ οἴνου·
Linger and be amazedⓘ, blind yourselves and be blindⓘ: you are drunk, but not with wine; you stagger, but not from strong drink.

כי נסך עליכם יהוה רוח תרדמה ויעצם את עיניכם את הנביאים ואת ראשיכם החזים כסה
ὅτι πεπότικεν ὑμᾶς κύριος πνεύματι κατανύξεως καὶ καμμύσει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τῶν προφητῶν αὐτῶν καὶ τῶν ἀρχόντων αὐτῶν, οἱ ὁρῶντες τὰ κρυπτά.
For the Tetragrammatonⓘ has poured over you a spirit of deep slumberⓘ, has shut your eyes — the prophets — and has veiled your heads, the seers.

ותהי לכם חזות הכל כדברי הספר החתום אשר יתנו אתו אל יודע הספר ספר לאמר קרא נא זה ואמר לא אוכל כי חתום הוא
καὶ ἔσονται ὑμῖν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ὡς οἱ λόγοι τοῦ βιβλίου τοῦ ἐσφραγισμένου τούτου, ὃ ἐὰν δῶσιν αὐτὸ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐπισταμένῳ γράμματα λέγοντες Ἀνάγνωθι ταῦτα· καὶ ἐρεῖ Οὐ δύναμαι ἀναγνῶναι, ἐσφράγισται γάρ.
The vision of all this shall be to you like the words of a sealed bookⓘ: it is given to one who knows how to read, saying, "Read this, please!" and he answers, "I cannot, because it is sealed";

ונתן הספר על אשר לא ידע ספר לאמר קרא נא זה ואמר לא ידעתי ספר
καὶ δοθήσεται τὸ βιβλίον τοῦτο εἰς χεῖρας ἀνθρώπου μὴ ἐπισταμένου γράμματα, καὶ ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ Ἀνάγνωθι τοῦτο· καὶ ἐρεῖ Οὐκ ἐπίσταμαι γράμματα.
or the book is given to one who does not know how to read, saying, "Read this, please!" and he answers, "I do not know how to read."

ויאמר אדני יען כי נגש העם הזה בפיו ובשפתיו כבדוני ולבו רחק ממני ותהי יראתם אתי מצות אנשים מלמדה
Καὶ εἶπεν κύριος Ἐγγίζει μοι ὁ λαὸς οὗτος τοῖς χείλεσιν αὐτῶν τιμῶσίν με, ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ, μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με διδάσκοντες ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων καὶ διδασκαλίας.
And the Lordⓘ said: "Because this people draw near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their heart remains far from me, and their reverence for me has become a precept of men learned by roteⓘ,

לכן הנני יוסף להפליא את העם הזה הפלא ופלא ואבדה חכמת חכמיו ובינת נבניו תסתתר
διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ προσθήσω τοῦ μεταθεῖναι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον καὶ μεταθήσω αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀπολῶ τὴν σοφίαν τῶν σοφῶν καὶ τὴν σύνεσιν τῶν συνετῶν κρύψω.
therefore, behold, I will again do wonders with this people, wonder upon wonderⓘ: the wisdom of its wise men shall perish and the discernment of its discerning men shall be hidden."

הוי המעמיקים מיהוה לסתר עצה והיה במחשך מעשיהם ויאמרו מי ראנו ומי יודענו
οὐαὶ οἱ βαθέως βουλὴν ποιοῦντες καὶ οὐ διὰ κυρίου· οὐαὶ οἱ ἐν κρυφῇ βουλὴν ποιοῦντες καὶ ἔσται ἐν σκότει τὰ ἔργα αὐτῶν καὶ ἐροῦσιν Τίς ἡμᾶς ἑώρακεν καὶ τίς ἡμᾶς γνώσεται ἢ ἃ ἡμεῖς ποιοῦμεν;
Woe to those who hide themselves in depthⓘ far from the Tetragrammatonⓘ, who work in the darkness and say: "Who sees us? Who knows us?"

הפככם אם כחמר היצר יחשב כי יאמר מעשה לעשהו לא עשני ויצר אמר ליוצרו לא הבין
οὐχ ὡς ὁ πηλὸς τοῦ κεραμέως λογισθήσεσθε; μὴ ἐρεῖ τὸ πλάσμα τῷ πλάσαντι Οὐ σύ με ἔπλασας; ἢ τὸ ποίημα τῷ ποιήσαντι Οὐ συνετῶς με ἐποίησας;
What perversity is yours!ⓘ Shall the clay be counted equal to the potter who shapes itⓘ? Shall the work say of the one who made it: "He did not make me"? Shall the vessel say to the potter: "He understands nothing"?

הלוא עוד מעט מזער ושב לבנון לכרמל והכרמל ליער יחשב
οὐκέτι μικρὸν καὶ μετατεθήσεται ὁ Λίβανος ὡς τὸ ὄρος τὸ Χερμελ καὶ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Χερμελ εἰς δρυμὸν λογισθήσεται;
Yet a little while, the briefest span, and Levanònⓘ shall be turned into an orchard, and the orchard shall be regarded as a forest.

ושמעו ביום ההוא החרשים דברי ספר ומאפל ומחשך עיני עורים תראינה
καὶ ἀκούσονται ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ κωφοὶ λόγους βιβλίου, καὶ οἱ ἐν τῷ σκότει καὶ οἱ ἐν τῇ ὁμίχλῃ ὀφθαλμοὶ τυφλῶν βλέψονται·
In that day the deafⓘ shall hear the words of the book, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.
19
ויספו ענוים ביהוה שמחה ואביוני אדם בקדוש ישראל יגילו
καὶ ἀγαλλιάσονται πτωχοὶ διὰ κύριον ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ, καὶ οἱ ἀπηλπισμένοι τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐμπλησθήσονται εὐφροσύνης.
The humble and the poorⓘ shall rejoice ever more in the Tetragrammatonⓘ, the needy among humankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

כי אפס עריץ וכלה לץ ונכרתו כל שקדי און
ἐξέλιπεν ἄνομος, καὶ ἀπώλετο ὑπερήφανος, καὶ ἐξωλεθρεύθησαν οἱ ἀνομοῦντες ἐπὶ κακίᾳ
For the tyrant shall be no more, the scoffer shall vanish, and all those who watch for iniquity shall be cut off:

מחטיאי אדם בדבר ולמוכיח בשער יקשון ויטו בתהו צדיק
καὶ οἱ ποιοῦντες ἁμαρτεῖν ἀνθρώπους ἐν λόγῳ· πάντας δὲ τοὺς ἐλέγχοντας ἐν πύλαις πρόσκομμα θήσουσιν καὶ ἐπλαγίασαν ἐν ἀδίκοις δίκαιον.
those who condemn a man with a single word, who lay snares for the one who judges at the gateⓘ, and with fraud overthrow the righteous.

לכן כה אמר יהוה אל בית יעקב אשר פדה את אברהם לא עתה יבוש יעקב ולא עתה פניו יחורו
διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Ιακωβ, ὃν ἀφώρισεν ἐξ Αβρααμ Οὐ νῦν αἰσχυνθήσεται Ιακωβ οὐδὲ νῦν τὸ πρόσωπον μεταβαλεῖ Ισραηλ·
Therefore thus says the Tetragrammatonⓘ to the house of Yaʿaqòv, he who redeemed Avràmⓘ: now Yaʿaqòv shall no longer be ashamed, and his face shall no longer grow pale;

כי בראתו ילדיו מעשה ידי בקרבו יקדישו שמי והקדישו את קדוש יעקב ואת אלהי ישראל יעריצו
ἀλλ’ ὅταν ἴδωσιν τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν τὰ ἔργα μου, δι’ ἐμὲ ἁγιάσουσιν τὸ ὄνομά μου καὶ ἁγιάσουσιν τὸν ἅγιον Ιακωβ καὶ τὸν θεὸν τοῦ Ισραηλ φοβηθήσονται.
for when he sees in his midst his children, the work of my hands, they shall hallow my Nameⓘ: they shall hallow the Holy One of Yaʿaqòv and stand in awe of the God of Israel.
24
וידעו תעי רוח בינה ורוגנים ילמדו לקח
καὶ γνώσονται οἱ τῷ πνεύματι πλανώμενοι σύνεσιν, οἱ δὲ γογγύζοντες μαθήσονται ὑπακούειν, καὶ αἱ γλώσσαι αἱ ψελλίζουσαι μαθήσονται λαλεῖν εἰρήνην.
The erring of spiritⓘ shall come to understand, and the murmurers shall learn instruction.
