רדי ושבי על עפר בתולת בת בבל שבי לארץ אין כסא בת כשדים כי לא תוסיפי יקראו לך רכה וענגה
Κατάβηθι κάθισον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, παρθένος θυγάτηρ Βαβυλῶνος, εἴσελθε εἰς τὸ σκότος, θυγάτηρ Χαλδαίων, ὅτι οὐκέτι προστεθήσῃ κληθῆναι ἁπαλὴ καὶ τρυφερά.
Come down and sit in the dustⓘ, virgin daughter of Bavèlⓘ; sit on the ground, without a throneⓘ, daughter of the Kasdìmⓘ, for they will no longer call you tender and delicate.

קחי רחים וטחני קמח גלי צמתך חשפי שבל גלי שוק עברי נהרות
λαβὲ μύλον, ἄλεσον ἄλευρον, ἀποκάλυψαι τὸ κατακάλυμμά σου, ἀνακάλυψαι τὰς πολιάς, ἀνάσυραι τὰς κνήμας, διάβηθι ποταμούς·
Take the millstonesⓘ and grind the flour, uncover your veil, lift your train, bare your leg, wade through the rivers:

תגל ערותך גם תראה חרפתך נקם אקח ולא אפגע אדם
ἀνακαλυφθήσεται ἡ αἰσχύνη σου, φανήσονται οἱ ὀνειδισμοί σου· τὸ δίκαιον ἐκ σοῦ λήμψομαι, οὐκέτι μὴ παραδῶ ἀνθρώποις.
let your nakedness be uncovered, let your shameⓘ also be seen; vengeanceⓘ I will take, and I will spare no manⓘ.

גאלנו יהוה צבאות שמו קדוש ישראל
εἶπεν ὁ ῥυσάμενός σε κύριος σαβαωθ ὄνομα αὐτῷ ἅγιος Ισραηλ
Our goèlⓘ, our Redeemer, is the Tetragrammatonⓘ Tzevaòt, the Holy One of Israèl.

שבי דומם ובאי בחשך בת כשדים כי לא תוסיפי יקראו לך גברת ממלכות
Κάθισον κατανενυγμένη, εἴσελθε εἰς τὸ σκότος, θυγάτηρ Χαλδαίων, οὐκέτι μὴ κληθῇς ἰσχὺς βασιλείας.
Sit in silence and enter into darkness, daughter of the Kasdìm: for they will no longer call you mistress of kingdomsⓘ.

קצפתי על עמי חללתי נחלתי ואתנם בידך לא שמת להם רחמים על זקן הכבדת עלך מאד
παρωξύνθην ἐπὶ τῷ λαῷ μου, ἐμίανας τὴν κληρονομίαν μου· ἐγὼ ἔδωκα εἰς τὴν χεῖρά σου, σὺ δὲ οὐκ ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς ἔλεος, τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου ἐβάρυνας τὸν ζυγὸν σφόδρα.
I was angry with my people, I profaned my inheritanceⓘ and gave them into your hand: but you showed them no rachamìmⓘ, no compassion at all; upon the aged you laid your yoke heavily.

ותאמרי לעולם אהיה גברת עד לא שמת אלה על לבך לא זכרת אחריתה
καὶ εἶπας Εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἔσομαι ἄρχουσα· οὐκ ἐνόησας ταῦτα ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου οὐδὲ ἐμνήσθης τὰ ἔσχατα.
And you said: «Forever I will be mistressⓘ», so that you did not lay these things to heart, you did not remember the endⓘ of them.

ועתה שמעי זאת עדינה היושבת לבטח האמרה בלבבה אני ואפסי עוד לא אשב אלמנה ולא אדע שכול
νῦν δὲ ἄκουσον ταῦτα, ἡ τρυφερὰ ἡ καθημένη πεποιθυῖα ἡ λέγουσα ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς Ἐγώ εἰμι, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἑτέρα· οὐ καθιῶ χήρα οὐδὲ γνώσομαι ὀρφανείαν.
And now hear this, O voluptuous one, who sits in security, who says in your heart: «I, and there is none besides meⓘ; I will not sit as a widow, I will not know the loss of children».

ותבאנה לך שתי אלה רגע ביום אחד שכול ואלמן כתמם באו עליך ברב כשפיך בעצמת חבריך מאד
νῦν δὲ ἥξει ἐξαίφνης ἐπὶ σὲ τὰ δύο ταῦτα ἐν μιᾷ ἡμέρᾳ· χηρεία καὶ ἀτεκνία ἥξει ἐξαίφνης ἐπὶ σὲ ἐν τῇ φαρμακείᾳ σου ἐν τῇ ἰσχύι τῶν ἐπαοιδῶν σου σφόδρα
But these two things shall come upon you in a moment, in a single day: loss of children and widowhoodⓘ shall come upon you in full measure, despite the multitude of your sorceriesⓘ and despite the great power of your spellsⓘ.

ותבטחי ברעתך אמרת אין ראני חכמתך ודעתך היא שובבתך ותאמרי בלבך אני ואפסי עוד
τῇ ἐλπίδι τῆς πονηρίας σου. σὺ γὰρ εἶπας Ἐγώ εἰμι, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἑτέρα. γνῶθι ὅτι ἡ σύνεσις τούτων καὶ ἡ πορνεία σου ἔσται σοι αἰσχύνη. καὶ εἶπας τῇ καρδίᾳ σου Ἐγώ εἰμι, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἑτέρα.
You trusted in your wickedness, you said: «No one sees me»; your wisdom and your knowledge have led you astrayⓘ, and you said in your heart: «I, and there is none besides me».

ובא עליך רעה לא תדעי שחרה ותפל עליך הוה לא תוכלי כפרה ותבא עליך פתאם שואה לא תדעי
καὶ ἥξει ἐπὶ σὲ ἀπώλεια, καὶ οὐ μὴ γνῷς, βόθυνος, καὶ ἐμπεσῇ εἰς αὐτόν· καὶ ἥξει ἐπὶ σὲ ταλαιπωρία, καὶ οὐ μὴ δυνήσῃ καθαρὰ γενέσθαι· καὶ ἥξει ἐπὶ σὲ ἐξαπίνης ἀπώλεια, καὶ οὐ μὴ γνῷς.
Therefore there shall come upon you evilⓘ that you will not know how to ward off at dawn with rites, ruin shall fall upon you that you will not be able to expiateⓘ, and there shall come upon you suddenly, unexpectedly, devastationⓘ that you do not know.

עמדי נא בחבריך וברב כשפיך באשר יגעת מנעוריך אולי תוכלי הועיל אולי תערוצי
στῆθι νῦν ἐν ταῖς ἐπαοιδαῖς σου καὶ τῇ πολλῇ φαρμακείᾳ σου, ἃ ἐμάνθανες ἐκ νεότητός σου, εἰ δυνήσῃ ὠφεληθῆναι.
Stand now with your spells and with the multitude of your sorceries, with which you have labored from your youth: perhaps you will be able to profit, perhaps you will succeed in striking terror!

נלאית ברב עצתיך יעמדו נא ויושיעך הברו הברי שמים החזים בכוכבים מודיעם לחדשים מאשר יבאו עליך
κεκοπίακας ἐν ταῖς βουλαῖς σου· στήτωσαν καὶ σωσάτωσάν σε οἱ ἀστρολόγοι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, οἱ ὁρῶντες τοὺς ἀστέρας ἀναγγειλάτωσάν σοι τί μέλλει ἐπὶ σὲ ἔρχεσθαι.
You have wearied yourself with your many counsels: let them stand now and save you, the observers of the heavens, the gazers at the starsⓘ, those who at every new moonⓘ foretell what shall come upon you.

הנה היו כקש אש שרפתם לא יצילו את נפשם מיד להבה אין גחלת לחמם אור לשבת נגדו
ἰδοὺ πάντες ὡς φρύγανα ἐπὶ πυρὶ κατακαήσονται καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐξέλωνται τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτῶν ἐκ φλογός· ὅτι ἔχεις ἄνθρακας πυρός, κάθισαι ἐπ’ αὐτούς.
Behold, they have become like stubbleⓘ: a fire burns them, they will not save their own lives from the hand of the flame — there is no coal for warming oneself, no fire to sit before (the LXX reverses the image: «you have coals of fire, sit upon them»).

כן היו לך אשר יגעת סחריך מנעוריך איש לעברו תעו אין מושיעך
οὗτοι ἔσονταί σοι βοήθεια, ἐκοπίασας ἐν τῇ μεταβολῇ σου ἐκ νεότητος, ἄνθρωπος καθ’ ἑαυτὸν ἐπλανήθη, σοὶ δὲ οὐκ ἔσται σωτηρία.
So shall they be to you for whom you have toiled, your merchantsⓘ from your youth: each one wanders about his own way, there is none who saves youⓘ.
