ויסעו מאילם ויבאו כל עדת בני ישראל אל מדבר סין אשר בין אילם ובין סיני בחמשה עשר יום לחדש השני לצאתם מארץ מצרים
Ἀπῆραν δὲ ἐξ Αιλιμ καὶ ἤλθοσαν πᾶσα συναγωγὴ υἱῶν Ισραηλ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον Σιν, ὅ ἐστιν ἀνὰ μέσον Αιλιμ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Σινα. τῇ δὲ πεντεκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ ἐξεληλυθότων αὐτῶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου
They set out from Elim and the whole ⓘ of the children of Israel came into the ⓘ, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth of the second month after their going out from the land of Egypt.

וילינו וילונו כל עדת בני ישראל על משה ועל אהרן במדבר
διεγόγγυζεν πᾶσα συναγωγὴ υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐπὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ Ααρων,
And the whole assembly of the children of Israel ⓘ against Moshè and against Aharòn in the wilderness.

ויאמרו אלהם בני ישראל מי יתן מותנו ביד יהוה בארץ מצרים בשבתנו על סיר הבשר באכלנו לחם לשבע כי הוצאתם אתנו אל המדבר הזה להמית את כל הקהל הזה ברעב
καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτοὺς οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ Ὄφελον ἀπεθάνομεν πληγέντες ὑπὸ κυρίου ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, ὅταν ἐκαθίσαμεν ἐπὶ τῶν λεβήτων τῶν κρεῶν καὶ ἠσθίομεν ἄρτους εἰς πλησμονήν· ὅτι ἐξηγάγετε ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ταύτην ἀποκτεῖναι πᾶσαν τὴν συναγωγὴν ταύτην ἐν λιμῷ.
And the children of Israel said to them: ⓘ by the hand of the ⓘ in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of ⓘ and ate bread to the full! Instead you have brought us out into this wilderness to make this whole ⓘ die of hunger.

ויאמר יהוה אל משה הנני ממטיר לכם לחם מן השמים ויצא העם ולקטו דבר יום ביומו למען אנסנו הילך בתורתי אם לא
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ὕω ὑμῖν ἄρτους ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ὁ λαὸς καὶ συλλέξουσιν τὸ τῆς ἡμέρας εἰς ἡμέραν, ὅπως πειράσω αὐτοὺς εἰ πορεύσονται τῷ νόμῳ μου ἢ οὔ·
And the ⓘ said to Moshè: Behold, I will make ⓘ; let the people go out and gather each day's portion, day by day, so that I may ⓘ, whether they will walk in my ⓘ or not.

והיה ביום הששי והכינו את אשר יביאו והיה משנה על אשר ילקטו יום יום
καὶ ἔσται τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ καὶ ἑτοιμάσουσιν ὃ ἐὰν εἰσενέγκωσιν, καὶ ἔσται διπλοῦν ὃ ἐὰν συναγάγωσιν τὸ καθ’ ἡμέραν εἰς ἡμέραν.
And it shall come to pass on the sixth day, when they prepare what they have brought in, it shall be ⓘ of what they gather each day.

ויאמר משה ואהרן אל כל בני ישראל ערב וידעתם כי יהוה הוציא אתכם מארץ מצרים
καὶ εἶπεν Μωϋσῆς καὶ Ααρων πρὸς πᾶσαν συναγωγὴν υἱῶν Ισραηλ Ἑσπέρας γνώσεσθε ὅτι κύριος ἐξήγαγεν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου,
And Moshè and Aharòn said to all the children of Israel: At evening you shall know that it is the ⓘ who has brought you out from the land of Egypt;

ובקר וראיתם את כבוד יהוה בשמעו את תלנתיכם על יהוה ונחנו מה כי תלונו תלינו עלינו
καὶ πρωῒ ὄψεσθε τὴν δόξαν κυρίου ἐν τῷ εἰσακοῦσαι τὸν γογγυσμὸν ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τῷ θεῷ· ἡμεῖς δὲ τί ἐσμεν ὅτι διαγογγύζετε καθ’ ἡμῶν;
and in the morning you shall see the ⓘ, for he has heard your ⓘ against the ⓘ; and what are we, that you murmur against us?

ויאמר משה בתת יהוה לכם בערב בשר לאכל ולחם בבקר לשבע בשמע יהוה את תלנתיכם אשר אתם מלינם עליו ונחנו מה לא עלינו תלנתיכם כי על יהוה
καὶ εἶπεν Μωϋσῆς Ἐν τῷ διδόναι κύριον ὑμῖν ἑσπέρας κρέα φαγεῖν καὶ ἄρτους τὸ πρωῒ εἰς πλησμονὴν διὰ τὸ εἰσακοῦσαι κύριον τὸν γογγυσμὸν ὑμῶν, ὃν ὑμεῖς διαγογγύζετε καθ’ ἡμῶν· ἡμεῖς δὲ τί ἐσμεν; οὐ γὰρ καθ’ ἡμῶν ὁ γογγυσμὸς ὑμῶν ἐστιν, ἀλλ’ ἢ κατὰ τοῦ θεοῦ.
And Moshè said: When the ⓘ gives you meat to eat at evening and bread to the full in the morning, because the ⓘ has heard your murmurings with which you murmur against him — and what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the ⓘ.

ויאמר משה אל אהרן אמר אל כל עדת בני ישראל קרבו לפני יהוה כי שמע את תלנתיכם
εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς πρὸς Ααρων Εἰπὸν πάσῃ συναγωγῇ υἱῶν Ισραηλ Προσέλθατε ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ· εἰσακήκοεν γὰρ ὑμῶν τὸν γογγυσμόν.
And Moshè said to Aharòn: Say to the whole assembly of the children of Israel: Draw near before the ⓘ, for he has heard your murmurings.

ויהי כדבר אהרן אל כל עדת בני ישראל ויפנו אל המדבר והנה כבוד יהוה נראה בענן
ἡνίκα δὲ ἐλάλει Ααρων πάσῃ συναγωγῇ υἱῶν Ισραηλ, καὶ ἐπεστράφησαν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον, καὶ ἡ δόξα κυρίου ὤφθη ἐν νεφέλῃ.
And it came to pass that, while Aharòn was speaking to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, they turned toward the wilderness: and behold, the ⓘ appeared in the ⓘ.

וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר
καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων
And the ⓘ spoke to Moshè, saying:
12
שמעתי את תלונת בני ישראל דבר אלהם לאמר בין הערבים תאכלו בשר ובבקר תשבעו לחם וידעתם כי אני יהוה אלהיכם
Εἰσακήκοα τὸν γογγυσμὸν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ· λάλησον πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων Τὸ πρὸς ἑσπέραν ἔδεσθε κρέα καὶ τὸ πρωῒ πλησθήσεσθε ἄρτων· καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν.
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel; speak to them, saying: At ⓘ you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that ⓘ.

ויהי בערב ותעל השלו ותכס את המחנה ובבקר היתה שכבת הטל סביב למחנה
ἐγένετο δὲ ἑσπέρα, καὶ ἀνέβη ὀρτυγομήτρα καὶ ἐκάλυψεν τὴν παρεμβολήν· τὸ πρωῒ ἐγένετο καταπαυομένης τῆς δρόσου κύκλῳ τῆς παρεμβολῆς
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And evening came, and the ⓘ came up and covered the camp; and in the morning, as the ⓘ around the camp.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And it came to pass at evening: the ⓘ came up and covered the camp; and in the morning there was a layer of ⓘ around the camp.

ותעל שכבת הטל והנה על פני המדבר דק מחספס דק ככפר על הארץ
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τῆς ἐρήμου λεπτὸν ὡσεὶ κόριον λευκὸν ὡσεὶ πάγος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And ⓘ, upon the ⓘ something **minute, like ⓘ white, like hoarfrost** upon the earth.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And the layer of dew came up, and behold, upon the surface of the wilderness something ⓘ, minute like hoarfrost upon the earth.

ויראו בני ישראל ויאמרו איש אל אחיו מן הוא כי לא ידעו מה הוא ויאמר משה אלהם הוא הלחם אשר נתן יהוה לכם לאכלה
ἰδόντες δὲ αὐτὸ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ εἶπαν ἕτερος τῷ ἑτέρῳ Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο; οὐ γὰρ ᾔδεισαν, τί ἦν. εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς πρὸς αὐτούς Οὗτος ὁ ἄρτος, ὃν ἔδωκεν κύριος ὑμῖν φαγεῖν·
The children of Israel saw it and said to one another: ⓘ, for they did not know what it was. And Moshè said to them: This is the bread that the ⓘ has given you to eat.

זה הדבר אשר צוה יהוה לקטו ממנו איש לפי אכלו עמר לגלגלת מספר נפשתיכם איש לאשר באהלו תקחו
τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμα, ὃ συνέταξεν κύριος Συναγάγετε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἕκαστος εἰς τοὺς καθήκοντας, γομορ κατὰ κεφαλὴν κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν ἕκαστος σὺν τοῖς συσκηνίοις ὑμῶν συλλέξατε.
This is what the ⓘ has commanded: Gather of it, each one according to his eating, an ⓘ per head, according to the number of your ⓘ, each one for those who are in his tent you shall take it.

ויעשו כן בני ישראל וילקטו המרבה והממעיט
ἐποίησαν δὲ οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ συνέλεξαν, ὁ τὸ πολὺ καὶ ὁ τὸ ἔλαττον.
The children of Israel did so: they gathered, some ⓘ and some little.
18
וימדו בעמר ולא העדיף המרבה והממעיט לא החסיר איש לפי אכלו לקטו
καὶ μετρήσαντες τῷ γομορ οὐκ ἐπλεόνασεν ὁ τὸ πολύ, καὶ ὁ τὸ ἔλαττον οὐκ ἠλαττόνησεν· ἕκαστος εἰς τοὺς καθήκοντας παρ’ ἑαυτῷ συνέλεξαν.
And they measured it with the ʿòmer: he who had much had nothing over, and he who had little lacked nothing; each one gathered according to his eating.

ויאמר משה אלהם איש אל יותר ממנו עד בקר
εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς πρὸς αὐτούς Μηδεὶς καταλιπέτω ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πρωί.
And Moshè said to them: Let no one ⓘ any of it until morning.
20
ולא שמעו אל משה ויותרו אנשים ממנו עד בקר וירם תולעים ויבאש ויקצף עלהם משה
καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσαν Μωυσῆ, ἀλλὰ κατέλιπόν τινες ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πρωί· καὶ ἐξέζεσεν σκώληκας καὶ ἐπώζεσεν· καὶ ἐπικράνθη ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς Μωϋσῆς.
But they did not listen to Moshè: some left of it until morning, and it ⓘ and bred worms and stank; and Moshè was angry with them.
21
וילקטו אתו בבקר בבקר איש כפי אכלו וחם השמש ונמס
καὶ συνέλεξαν αὐτὸ πρωῒ πρωί, ἕκαστος τὸ καθῆκον αὐτῷ· ἡνίκα δὲ διεθέρμαινεν ὁ ἥλιος, ἐτήκετο.
They gathered it every morning, each one according to his eating; and when the ⓘ grew hot, it ⓘ.

ויהי ביום הששי לקטו לחם משנה שני העמר לאחד ויבאו כל נשיאי העדה ויגידו למשה
ἐγένετο δὲ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ συνέλεξαν τὰ δέοντα διπλᾶ, δύο γομορ τῷ ἑνί· εἰσήλθοσαν δὲ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς συναγωγῆς καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν Μωυσεῖ.
And it came to pass on the sixth day that they gathered a ⓘ of bread, two ʿòmer for each one; and all the ⓘ of the assembly came to report it to Moshè.

ויאמר אלהם הוא אשר דבר יהוה שבתון שבת קדש ליהוה מחר את אשר תאפו אפו ואת אשר תבשלו בשלו ואת כל העדף הניחו לכם למשמרת עד הבקר
εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς πρὸς αὐτούς Τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμά ἐστιν, ὃ ἐλάλησεν κύριος· σάββατα ἀνάπαυσις ἁγία τῷ κυρίῳ αὔριον· ὅσα ἐὰν πέσσητε, πέσσετε, καὶ ὅσα ἐὰν ἕψητε, ἕψετε· καὶ πᾶν τὸ πλεονάζον καταλίπετε αὐτὸ εἰς ἀποθήκην εἰς τὸ πρωί.
And he said to them: This is what the ⓘ has said: Tomorrow is ⓘ; bake what you must bake and boil what you must boil, and all that is left over keep in safekeeping until morning.

ויניחו אתו עד הבקר כאשר צוה משה ולא הבאיש ורמה לא היתה בו
καὶ κατελίποσαν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πρωί, καθάπερ συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς Μωϋσῆς· καὶ οὐκ ἐπώζεσεν, οὐδὲ σκώληξ ἐγένετο ἐν αὐτῷ.
And they kept it until morning, as Moshè had commanded, and it did not ⓘ nor were there worms in it.
25
ויאמר משה אכלהו היום כי שבת היום ליהוה היום לא תמצאהו בשדה
εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς Φάγετε σήμερον· ἔστιν γὰρ σάββατα σήμερον τῷ κυρίῳ· οὐχ εὑρεθήσεται ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ.
And Moshè said: Eat it today, for today is ⓘ: today you will not find it in the field.
26
ששת ימים תלקטהו וביום השביעי שבת לא יהיה בו
ἓξ ἡμέρας συλλέξετε· τῇ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ σάββατα, ὅτι οὐκ ἔσται ἐν αὐτῇ.
Six days you shall gather it; but on the ⓘ, which is Shabbàt, there shall be none.
27
ויהי ביום השביעי יצאו מן העם ללקט ולא מצאו
ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἐξήλθοσάν τινες ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ συλλέξαι καὶ οὐχ εὗρον.
And it came to pass on the seventh day that some of the people went out to gather of it, but they did not ⓘ any.
28
ויאמר יהוה אל משה עד אנה מאנתם לשמר מצותי ותורתי
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Ἕως τίνος οὐ βούλεσθε εἰσακούειν τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τὸν νόμον μου;
And the ⓘ said to Moshè: How long will you refuse to keep my ⓘ and my ⓘ?

ראו כי יהוה נתן לכם השבת על כן הוא נתן לכם ביום הששי לחם יומים שבו איש תחתיו אל יצא איש ממקמו ביום השביעי
ἴδετε, ὁ γὰρ κύριος ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν τὴν ἡμέραν ταύτην τὰ σάββατα· διὰ τοῦτο αὐτὸς ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ ἄρτους δύο ἡμερῶν· καθήσεσθε ἕκαστος εἰς τοὺς οἴκους ὑμῶν, μηδεὶς ἐκπορευέσθω ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτοῦ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ.
See that the ⓘ has given you the ⓘ; therefore on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days; let each one remain in his place, let no one go out from his place on the seventh day.

וישבתו העם ביום השבעי
καὶ ἐσαββάτισεν ὁ λαὸς τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ.
And the people ⓘ on the seventh day.
31
ויקראו בית ישראל את שמו מן והוא כזרע גד לבן וטעמו כצפיחת בדבש
καὶ ἐπωνόμασαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ μαν· ἦν δὲ ὡς σπέρμα κορίου λευκόν, τὸ δὲ γεῦμα αὐτοῦ ὡς ἐγκρὶς ἐν μέλιτι.
And the house of Israel called that food ⓘ: it was like ⓘ seed, white, and its taste was like ⓘ with honey.

ויאמר משה זה הדבר אשר צוה יהוה מלא העמר ממנו למשמרת לדרתיכם למען יראו את הלחם אשר האכלתי אתכם במדבר בהוציאי אתכם מארץ מצרים
εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς Τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμα, ὃ συνέταξεν κύριος Πλήσατε τὸ γομορ τοῦ μαν εἰς ἀποθήκην εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν, ἵνα ἴδωσιν τὸν ἄρτον, ὃν ἐφάγετε ὑμεῖς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ὡς ἐξήγαγεν ὑμᾶς κύριος ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου.
And Moshè said: This is what the ⓘ has commanded: Let an ʿòmer full of man be kept for your ⓘ, so that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out from the land of Egypt.

ויאמר משה אל אהרן קח צנצנת אחת ותן שמה מלא העמר מן והנח אתו לפני יהוה למשמרת לדרתיכם
καὶ εἶπεν Μωϋσῆς πρὸς Ααρων Λαβὲ στάμνον χρυσοῦν ἕνα καὶ ἔμβαλε εἰς αὐτὸν πλῆρες τὸ γομορ τοῦ μαν καὶ ἀποθήσεις αὐτὸ ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς διατήρησιν εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν.
And Moshè said to Aharòn: Take an ⓘ and put in it an ʿòmer full of man, and lay it up before the ⓘ in safekeeping for your generations.
34
כאשר צוה יהוה אל משה ויניחהו אהרן לפני העדת למשמרת
ὃν τρόπον συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ, καὶ ἀπέθετο Ααρων ἐναντίον τοῦ μαρτυρίου εἰς διατήρησιν.
As the ⓘ had commanded Moshè, Aharòn laid it up before the ⓘ in safekeeping.
35
ובני ישראל אכלו את המן ארבעים שנה עד באם אל ארץ נושבת את המן אכלו עד באם אל קצה ארץ כנען
οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἔφαγον τὸ μαν ἔτη τεσσαράκοντα, ἕως ἦλθον εἰς γῆν οἰκουμένην· τὸ μαν ἐφάγοσαν, ἕως παρεγένοντο εἰς μέρος τῆς Φοινίκης.

והעמר עשרית האיפה הוא
τὸ δὲ γομορ τὸ δέκατον τῶν τριῶν μέτρων ἦν.
