ויסעו כל עדת בני ישראל ממדבר סין למסעיהם על פי יהוה ויחנו ברפידים ואין מים לשתת העם
Καὶ ἀπῆρεν πᾶσα συναγωγὴ υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐκ τῆς ἐρήμου Σιν κατὰ παρεμβολὰς αὐτῶν διὰ ῥήματος κυρίου καὶ παρενεβάλοσαν ἐν Ραφιδιν· οὐκ ἦν δὲ ὕδωρ τῷ λαῷ πιεῖν.
And the whole assembly of the children of Israel set out from the wilderness of Sin, by their stages, at the mouth of the Tetragrammatonⓘ, and they camped at Refidìm; and there was no water for the people to drink.

וירב העם עם משה ויאמרו תנו לנו מים ונשתה ויאמר להם משה מה תריבון עמדי מה תנסון את יהוה
καὶ ἐλοιδορεῖτο ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγοντες Δὸς ἡμῖν ὕδωρ, ἵνα πίωμεν. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Μωϋσῆς Τί λοιδορεῖσθέ μοι, καὶ τί πειράζετε κύριον;
And the people contended with Moshè and said: «Give us water and we will drink». And Moshè said to them: «Why do you contendⓘ with me? Why do you put the Tetragrammaton to the testⓘ?».

ויצמא שם העם למים וילן העם על משה ויאמר למה זה העליתנו ממצרים להמית אתי ואת בני ואת מקני בצמא
ἐδίψησεν δὲ ἐκεῖ ὁ λαὸς ὕδατι, καὶ ἐγόγγυζεν ἐκεῖ ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγοντες Ἵνα τί τοῦτο ἀνεβίβασας ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου ἀποκτεῖναι ἡμᾶς καὶ τὰ τέκνα ἡμῶν καὶ τὰ κτήνη τῷ δίψει;
And there the people thirsted for water, and the people murmured against Moshè and said: «Why have you brought us up from Mitzràyimⓘ, to make me and my children and my cattle die of thirst?».

ויצעק משה אל יהוה לאמר מה אעשה לעם הזה עוד מעט וסקלני
ἐβόησεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς πρὸς κύριον λέγων Τί ποιήσω τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ; ἔτι μικρὸν καὶ καταλιθοβολήσουσίν με.
And Moshè cried out to the Tetragrammatonⓘ: «What shall I do to this people? A little more and they will stone me».

ויאמר יהוה אל משה עבר לפני העם וקח אתך מזקני ישראל ומטך אשר הכית בו את היאר קח בידך והלכת
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Προπορεύου τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου, λαβὲ δὲ μετὰ σεαυτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ· καὶ τὴν ῥάβδον, ἐν ᾗ ἐπάταξας τὸν ποταμόν, λαβὲ ἐν τῇ χειρί σου καὶ πορεύσῃ.
And the Tetragrammatonⓘ said to Moshè: «Pass before the people and take with you some of the elders of Israel; and your staff with which you struck the Riverⓘ, take it in your hand and go.

הנני עמד לפניך שם על הצור בחרב והכית בצור ויצאו ממנו מים ושתה העם ויעש כן משה לעיני זקני ישראל
ὅδε ἐγὼ ἕστηκα πρὸ τοῦ σὲ ἐκεῖ ἐπὶ τῆς πέτρας ἐν Χωρηβ· καὶ πατάξεις τὴν πέτραν, καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἐξ αὐτῆς ὕδωρ, καὶ πίεται ὁ λαός μου. ἐποίησεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς οὕτως ἐναντίον τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——Behold, I am standing before you there, on the rock in Chorèvⓘ; and you shall strike the rock and water will come out of it, and my peopleⓘ will drink». And Moshè did so before the children of Israelⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——Behold, I will stand before youⓘ there, on the rock in Chorèvⓘ; and you shall strike the rock and waters will come out of it, and the peopleⓘ will drink». And Moshè did so before the eyes of the elders of Israel.

ויקרא שם המקום מסה ומריבה על ריב בני ישראל ועל נסתם את יהוה לאמר היש יהוה בקרבנו אם אין
καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Πειρασμὸς καὶ Λοιδόρησις διὰ τὴν λοιδορίαν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ διὰ τὸ πειράζειν κύριον λέγοντας Εἰ ἔστιν κύριος ἐν ἡμῖν ἢ οὔ;
And he called the name of the place Massàhⓘ and Merivàhⓘ, because of the contention of the children of Israel and because of their testing of the Tetragrammatonⓘ saying: «Is the Tetragrammaton in our midst or not?»ⓘ.

ויבא עמלק וילחם עם ישראל ברפידם
Ἦλθεν δὲ Αμαληκ καὶ ἐπολέμει Ισραηλ ἐν Ραφιδιν.
And ʿAmalèqⓘ came and fought with Israel at Refidìm.

ויאמר משה אל יהושע בחר לנו אנשים וצא הלחם בעמלק מחר אנכי נצב על ראש הגבעה ומטה האלהים בידי
εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς τῷ Ἰησοῦ Ἐπίλεξον σεαυτῷ ἄνδρας δυνατοὺς καὶ ἐξελθὼν παράταξαι τῷ Αμαληκ αὔριον, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἕστηκα ἐπὶ τῆς κορυφῆς τοῦ βουνοῦ, καὶ ἡ ῥάβδος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν τῇ χειρί μου.
And Moshè said to Yehoshùaⓘ: «Choose for us menⓘ and go out, fight with ʿAmalèq; tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill, and the staff of Godⓘ in my hand».

ויעש יהושע כאשר אמר לו משה להלחם בעמלק ומשה אהרן וחור עלו ראש הגבעה
καὶ ἐποίησεν Ἰησοῦς καθάπερ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μωϋσῆς, καὶ ἐξελθὼν παρετάξατο τῷ Αμαληκ· καὶ Μωϋσῆς καὶ Ααρων καὶ Ωρ ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ τὴν κορυφὴν τοῦ βουνοῦ.
And Yehoshùa did as Moshè had told him, to fight with ʿAmalèq; and Moshè, Aharòn and Churⓘ went up to the top of the hill.

והיה כאשר ירים משה ידו וגבר ישראל וכאשר יניח ידו וגבר עמלק
καὶ ἐγίνετο ὅταν ἐπῆρεν Μωϋσῆς τὰς χεῖρας, κατίσχυεν Ισραηλ· ὅταν δὲ καθῆκεν τὰς χεῖρας, κατίσχυεν Αμαληκ.
And it came to pass, when Moshè raised his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his hand, ʿAmalèq prevailed.

וידי משה כבדים ויקחו אבן וישימו תחתיו וישב עליה ואהרן וחור תמכו בידיו מזה אחד ומזה אחד ויהי ידיו אמונה עד בא השמש
αἱ δὲ χεῖρες Μωυσῆ βαρεῖαι· καὶ λαβόντες λίθον ὑπέθηκαν ὑπ’ αὐτόν, καὶ ἐκάθητο ἐπ’ αὐτοῦ, καὶ Ααρων καὶ Ωρ ἐστήριζον τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ, ἐντεῦθεν εἷς καὶ ἐντεῦθεν εἷς· καὶ ἐγένοντο αἱ χεῖρες Μωυσῆ ἐστηριγμέναι ἕως δυσμῶν ἡλίου.
And the hands of Moshè were heavy, and they took a stone and placed it under him, and he sat upon it; and Aharòn and Chur held up his hands, one on this side and one on that side, and his hands were emunàhⓘ until the setting of the sun.

ויחלש יהושע את עמלק ואת עמו לפי חרב
καὶ ἐτρέψατο Ἰησοῦς τὸν Αμαληκ καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν φόνῳ μαχαίρας.
And Yehoshùa defeated ʿAmalèq and his people by the edge of the swordⓘ.

ויאמר יהוה אל משה כתב זאת זכרון בספר ושים באזני יהושע כי מחה אמחה את זכר עמלק מתחת השמים
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Κατάγραψον τοῦτο εἰς μνημόσυνον ἐν βιβλίῳ καὶ δὸς εἰς τὰ ὦτα Ἰησοῖ ὅτι Ἀλοιφῇ ἐξαλείψω τὸ μνημόσυνον Αμαληκ ἐκ τῆς ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανόν.
And the Tetragrammatonⓘ said to Moshè: «Write this as a memorial in the bookⓘ and set it in the ears of Yehoshùa: I will utterly blot out the memory of ʿAmalèqⓘ from under the heavens».

ויבן משה מזבח ויקרא שמו יהוה נסי
καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν Μωϋσῆς θυσιαστήριον κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Κύριός μου καταφυγή·
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Moshè builtⓘ an altar to the Tetragrammaton and called its name «The Tetragrammaton is my refuge»ⓘ;—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Moshè built an altar and called its name TetraGramma-Nissìⓘ;

ויאמר כי יד על כס יה מלחמה ליהוה בעמלק מדר דר
ὅτι ἐν χειρὶ κρυφαίᾳ πολεμεῖ κύριος ἐπὶ Αμαληκ ἀπὸ γενεῶν εἰς γενεάς.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——because with a hidden handⓘ the Tetragrammaton fightsⓘ against Amalekⓘ from generation to generationⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——and he said: «For a hand upon the throne of Yahⓘ: war for the Tetragrammatonⓘ against ʿAmalèq from generation to generation».
