ומשה היה רעה את צאן יתרו חתנו כהן מדין וינהג את הצאן אחר המדבר ויבא אל הר האלהים חרבה
Καὶ Μωϋσῆς ἦν ποιμαίνων τὰ πρόβατα Ιοθορ τοῦ γαμβροῦ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἱερέως Μαδιαμ καὶ ἤγαγεν τὰ πρόβατα ὑπὸ τὴν ἔρημον καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὸ ὄρος Χωρηβ.
Now Mosheh was shepherding the flock of Yitrò his father-in-law, priest of Midiàn; he drove the flock beyond the wildernessⓘ and came to the mountain of God, to Horèvⓘ.

וירא מלאך יהוה אליו בלבת אש מתוך הסנה וירא והנה הסנה בער באש והסנה איננו אכל
ὤφθη δὲ αὐτῷ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐν φλογὶ πυρὸς ἐκ τοῦ βάτου, καὶ ὁρᾷ ὅτι ὁ βάτος καίεται πυρί, ὁ δὲ βάτος οὐ κατεκαίετο.
And there appeared to him the messenger of the Tetragrammatonⓘ in a flame of fireⓘ from the midst of the thornbushⓘ; he looked and behold: the thornbush was burning with fire but was not consumedⓘ.

ויאמר משה אסרה נא ואראה את המראה הגדל הזה מדוע לא יבער הסנה
εἶπεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς Παρελθὼν ὄψομαι τὸ ὅραμα τὸ μέγα τοῦτο, τί ὅτι οὐ κατακαίεται ὁ βάτος.
And Mosheh said: I will turn aside now to see this great visionⓘ: why is it that the thornbush is not consumed?

וירא יהוה כי סר לראות ויקרא אליו אלהים מתוך הסנה ויאמר משה משה ויאמר הנני
ὡς δὲ εἶδεν κύριος ὅτι προσάγει ἰδεῖν, ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν κύριος ἐκ τοῦ βάτου λέγων Μωυσῆ, Μωυσῆ. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Τί ἐστιν;
The Tetragrammatonⓘ saw that he had drawn near to look, and God called to him from the midst of the thornbush: «Mosheh, Mosheh!». And he answered: Here I amⓘ.

ויאמר אל תקרב הלם של נעליך מעל רגליך כי המקום אשר אתה עומד עליו אדמת קדש הוא
καὶ εἶπεν Μὴ ἐγγίσῃς ὧδε· λῦσαι τὸ ὑπόδημα ἐκ τῶν ποδῶν σου· ὁ γὰρ τόπος, ἐν ᾧ σὺ ἕστηκας, γῆ ἁγία ἐστίν.
And he said: Do not draw near here; slip off the sandalsⓘ from your feet, for the place on which you stand is holy groundⓘ.

ויאמר אנכי אלהי אביך אלהי אברהם אלהי יצחק ואלהי יעקב ויסתר משה פניו כי ירא מהביט אל האלהים
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός σου, θεὸς Αβρααμ καὶ θεὸς Ισαακ καὶ θεὸς Ιακωβ. ἀπέστρεψεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ· εὐλαβεῖτο γὰρ κατεμβλέψαι ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.
And he said: I am the God of your fatherⓘ, God of Avrahàm, God of Yitzchàq and God of Yaʿaqòv. And Mosheh hid his face, for he feared to gaze upon Godⓘ.

ויאמר יהוה ראה ראיתי את עני עמי אשר במצרים ואת צעקתם שמעתי מפני נגשיו כי ידעתי את מכאביו
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Ἰδὼν εἶδον τὴν κάκωσιν τοῦ λαοῦ μου τοῦ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ τῆς κραυγῆς αὐτῶν ἀκήκοα ἀπὸ τῶν ἐργοδιωκτῶν· οἶδα γὰρ τὴν ὀδύνην αὐτῶν·
And the Tetragrammaton said: I have surely seenⓘ the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, and their cry of anguishⓘ I have heard before their taskmastersⓘ: I know well their sufferings.

וארד להצילו מיד מצרים ולהעלתו מן הארץ ההוא אל ארץ טובה ורחבה אל ארץ זבת חלב ודבש אל מקום הכנעני והחתי והאמרי והפרזי והחוי והיבוסי
καὶ κατέβην ἐξελέσθαι αὐτοὺς ἐκ χειρὸς Αἰγυπτίων καὶ ἐξαγαγεῖν αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης καὶ εἰσαγαγεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς γῆν ἀγαθὴν καὶ πολλήν, εἰς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι, εἰς τὸν τόπον τῶν Χαναναίων καὶ Χετταίων καὶ Αμορραίων καὶ Φερεζαίων καὶ Γεργεσαίων καὶ Ευαίων καὶ Ιεβουσαίων.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And I have come downⓘ to snatch them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them out of that land and to lead them intoⓘ a good land and vastⓘ, a land flowing with milk and honeyⓘ, in the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Girgashitesⓘ and the Hivvites and the Yevusites.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And I have come downⓘ to snatch it from the hand of Egypt and to bring it up from that land toward a good land and spaciousⓘ, a land flowing with milk and honeyⓘ, the place of the Kenaanite, the Hittite, the Emorite, the Perizzite, the Girgashiteⓘ, the Hivvite and the Yevusite.

ועתה הנה צעקת בני ישראל באה אלי וגם ראיתי את הלחץ אשר מצרים לחצים אתם
καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ κραυγὴ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἥκει πρός με, κἀγὼ ἑώρακα τὸν θλιμμόν, ὃν οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι θλίβουσιν αὐτούς.
And now behold: the cry of the children of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppressionⓘ with which Egypt oppresses them.

ועתה לכה ואשלחך אל פרעה והוצא את עמי בני ישראל ממצרים
καὶ νῦν δεῦρο ἀποστείλω σε πρὸς Φαραω βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ἐξάξεις τὸν λαόν μου τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου. –
Go now, I send you to Pharaoh king of Egyptⓘ: bring out my people, the children of Israel, from Egypt.

ויאמר משה אל האלהים מי אנכי כי אלך אל פרעה וכי אוציא את בני ישראל ממצרים
καὶ εἶπεν Μωϋσῆς πρὸς τὸν θεόν Τίς εἰμι, ὅτι πορεύσομαι πρὸς Φαραω βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ὅτι ἐξάξω τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου;
And Mosheh said to God: Who am I to go to Pharaoh king of Egyptⓘ and to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt?

ויאמר כי אהיה עמך וזה לך האות כי אנכי שלחתיך בהוציאך את העם ממצרים תעבדון את האלהים על ההר הזה
εἶπεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς Μωυσεῖ λέγων ὅτι Ἔσομαι μετὰ σοῦ, καὶ τοῦτό σοι τὸ σημεῖον ὅτι ἐγώ σε ἐξαποστέλλω· ἐν τῷ ἐξαγαγεῖν σε τὸν λαόν μου ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ λατρεύσετε τῷ θεῷ ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ.
And he said: I will be with youⓘ; and this shall be the sign to you that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve Godⓘ on this mountain.

ויאמר משה אל האלהים הנה אנכי בא אל בני ישראל ואמרתי להם אלהי אבותיכם שלחני אליכם ואמרו לי מה שמו מה אמר אלהם
καὶ εἶπεν Μωϋσῆς πρὸς τὸν θεόν Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐλεύσομαι πρὸς τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ καὶ ἐρῶ πρὸς αὐτούς Ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν ἀπέσταλκέν με πρὸς ὑμᾶς, ἐρωτήσουσίν με Τί ὄνομα αὐτῷ; τί ἐρῶ πρὸς αὐτούς;
And Mosheh said to God: Behold, I go to the children of Israel and say to them: «The God of your fathers has sent me to you»; and they will ask me: «What is his Nameⓘ?». What shall I say to them?

ויאמר אלהים אל משה אהיה אשר אהיה ויאמר כה תאמר לבני ישראל אהיה שלחני אליכם
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ὤν· καὶ εἶπεν Οὕτως ἐρεῖς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ Ὁ ὢν ἀπέσταλκέν με πρὸς ὑμᾶς.
And God said to Mosheh: Ehyèh ashèr Ehyèh — I will be what I will beⓘ. And he said: Thus shall you say to the children of Israel: «Ehyèhⓘ has sent me to you».

ויאמר עוד אלהים אל משה כה תאמר אל בני ישראל יהוה אלהי אבתיכם אלהי אברהם אלהי יצחק ואלהי יעקב שלחני אליכם זה שמי לעלם וזה זכרי לדר דר
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πάλιν πρὸς Μωυσῆν Οὕτως ἐρεῖς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ Κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν, θεὸς Αβρααμ καὶ θεὸς Ισαακ καὶ θεὸς Ιακωβ, ἀπέσταλκέν με πρὸς ὑμᾶς· τοῦτό μού ἐστιν ὄνομα αἰώνιον καὶ μνημόσυνον γενεῶν γενεαῖς.
And God said again to Mosheh: Thus shall you say to the children of Israel: «The Tetragrammatonⓘ, God of your fathers, God of Avrahàm, God of Yitzchàq and God of Yaʿaqòv, has sent me to you»: this is my Name foreverⓘ, my memorialⓘ from generation to generation.

לך ואספת את זקני ישראל ואמרת אלהם יהוה אלהי אבתיכם נראה אלי אלהי אברהם יצחק ויעקב לאמר פקד פקדתי אתכם ואת העשוי לכם במצרים
ἐλθὼν οὖν συνάγαγε τὴν γερουσίαν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς Κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν ὦπταί μοι, θεὸς Αβρααμ καὶ θεὸς Ισαακ καὶ θεὸς Ιακωβ, λέγων Ἐπισκοπῇ ἐπέσκεμμαι ὑμᾶς καὶ ὅσα συμβέβηκεν ὑμῖν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ,
Go, gather the elders of Israelⓘ and say to them: The Tetragrammaton, God of your fathers, has appeared to me, God of Avrahàm, of Yitzchàq and of Yaʿaqòvⓘ, saying: Visiting I have visited youⓘ and I have seen what is done to you in Egypt,

ואמר אעלה אתכם מעני מצרים אל ארץ הכנעני והחתי והאמרי והפרזי והחוי והיבוסי אל ארץ זבת חלב ודבש
καὶ εἶπον Ἀναβιβάσω ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῆς κακώσεως τῶν Αἰγυπτίων εἰς τὴν γῆν τῶν Χαναναίων καὶ Χετταίων καὶ Αμορραίων καὶ Φερεζαίων καὶ Γεργεσαίων καὶ Ευαίων καὶ Ιεβουσαίων, εἰς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——and I have said: I will bring you upⓘ from the miseryⓘ of the Egyptians to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Girgashitesⓘ and the Hivvites and the Yevusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.—— Masoretic (MT) ——and I have said: I will bring you up from the oppression of Egypt to the land of the Kenaanite, the Hittite, the Emorite, the Perizzite, the Girgashiteⓘ, the Hivvite and the Yevusite, a land flowing with milk and honey.

ושמעו לקלך ובאת אתה וזקני ישראל אל מלך מצרים ואמרתם אליו יהוה אלהי העבריים נקרה עלינו ועתה נלכה נא דרך שלשת ימים במדבר ונזבחה ליהוה אלהינו
καὶ εἰσακούσονταί σου τῆς φωνῆς· καὶ εἰσελεύσῃ σὺ καὶ ἡ γερουσία Ισραηλ πρὸς Φαραω βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτόν Ὁ θεὸς τῶν Εβραίων προσκέκληται ἡμᾶς· πορευσώμεθα οὖν ὁδὸν τριῶν ἡμερῶν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον, ἵνα θύσωμεν τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν.
And they will listen to your voice; and you, together with the elders of Israelⓘ, shall go to the king of Egypt and you shall say to him: The Tetragrammaton, God of the Hebrewsⓘ has met with us; let us therefore go a three days' journey into the wilderness to sacrifice to the Tetragrammaton our Godⓘ.

ואני ידעתי כי לא יתן אתכם מלך מצרים להלך ולא ביד חזקה
ἐγὼ δὲ οἶδα ὅτι οὐ προήσεται ὑμᾶς Φαραω βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου πορευθῆναι, ἐὰν μὴ μετὰ χειρὸς κραταιᾶς.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——But I know that Pharaoh, king of Egypt, will not let you go except under a mighty handⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go except when compelled by a strong handⓘ.

ושלחתי את ידי והכיתי את מצרים בכל נפלאתי אשר אעשה בקרבו ואחרי כן ישלח אתכם
καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα πατάξω τοὺς Αἰγυπτίους ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς θαυμασίοις μου, οἷς ποιήσω ἐν αὐτοῖς, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐξαποστελεῖ ὑμᾶς.
I will therefore stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all my wondersⓘ which I will do in its midst, and after this he will let you go.

ונתתי את חן העם הזה בעיני מצרים והיה כי תלכון לא תלכו ריקם
καὶ δώσω χάριν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ ἐναντίον τῶν Αἰγυπτίων· ὅταν δὲ ἀποτρέχητε, οὐκ ἀπελεύσεσθε κενοί·
And I will give to this people favorⓘ in the eyes of the Egyptians, and when you depart you shall not depart empty-handedⓘ.
22
ושאלה אשה משכנתה ומגרת ביתה כלי כסף וכלי זהב ושמלת ושמתם על בניכם ועל בנתיכם ונצלתם את מצרים
αἰτήσει γυνὴ παρὰ γείτονος καὶ συσκήνου αὐτῆς σκεύη ἀργυρᾶ καὶ χρυσᾶ καὶ ἱματισμόν, καὶ ἐπιθήσετε ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν καὶ σκυλεύσετε τοὺς Αἰγυπτίους. –
Every woman shall ask of her neighbor and of the guest of her houseⓘ objects of silver, objects of gold and garments, and you shall put them on your sons and on your daughters — thus you shall despoil Egyptⓘ.
