ויסע משם אברהם ארצה הנגב וישב בין קדש ובין שור ויגר בגרר
Καὶ ἐκίνησεν ἐκεῖθεν Αβρααμ εἰς γῆν πρὸς λίβα καὶ ᾤκησεν ἀνὰ μέσον Καδης καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Σουρ καὶ παρῴκησεν ἐν Γεραροις.
And he set out from there Avrahàmⓘ toward the land of the Nèghevⓘ and settled between Qadèsh and Shur, and sojourned as a stranger in Gheràrⓘ.

ויאמר אברהם אל שרה אשתו אחתי הוא וישלח אבימלך מלך גרר ויקח את שרה
εἶπεν δὲ Αβρααμ περὶ Σαρρας τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ ὅτι Ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν· ἐφοβήθη γὰρ εἰπεῖν ὅτι Γυνή μού ἐστιν, μήποτε ἀποκτείνωσιν αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τῆς πόλεως δι’ αὐτήν. ἀπέστειλεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ βασιλεὺς Γεραρων καὶ ἔλαβεν τὴν Σαρραν.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Avrahàm said of Saràh his wife: «She is my sister»; for he feared to say «she is my wife»ⓘ, lest the men of the city should kill him on account of herⓘ. And Avimèlekh, king of Gheràr, sent and took Saràh.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Avrahàm said of Saràh his wife: «She is my sister». [the LXX adds] for he had feared to say «she is my wife», lest the men of the city should kill him on account of herⓘ. And Avimèlekh, king of Gheràr, sent and took Saràh.

ויבא אלהים אל אבימלך בחלום הלילה ויאמר לו הנך מת על האשה אשר לקחת והוא בעלת בעל
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Αβιμελεχ ἐν ὕπνῳ τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ σὺ ἀποθνῄσκεις περὶ τῆς γυναικός, ἧς ἔλαβες, αὕτη δέ ἐστιν συνῳκηκυῖα ἀνδρί.
And Elohìmⓘ came to Avimèlekh in the dream of the nightⓘ and said to him: «Behold, you are a dead manⓘ on account of the woman you have taken, for she is a master's wifeⓘ».

ואבימלך לא קרב אליה ויאמר אדני הגוי גם צדיק תהרג
Αβιμελεχ δὲ οὐχ ἥψατο αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπεν Κύριε, ἔθνος ἀγνοοῦν καὶ δίκαιον ἀπολεῖς;
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——But Avimèlekh had not touchedⓘ her, and he said: «Tetragrammatonⓘ, will you destroy an unknowing and righteous nation?ⓘ»—— Masoretic (MT) ——But Avimèlekh had not drawn near to her; and he said: «Lordⓘ, will you also kill an unknowing and righteous nationⓘ?».

הלא הוא אמר לי אחתי הוא והיא גם הוא אמרה אחי הוא בתם לבבי ובנקין כפי עשיתי זאת
οὐκ αὐτός μοι εἶπεν Ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν; καὶ αὐτή μοι εἶπεν Ἀδελφός μού ἐστιν. ἐν καθαρᾷ καρδίᾳ καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ χειρῶν ἐποίησα τοῦτο.
«Did he not say to me: she is my sister? And she herself, she too said: he is my brother. With the integrity of my heartⓘ and with the cleanness of my palmsⓘ I have done this».

ויאמר אליו האלהים בחלם גם אנכי ידעתי כי בתם לבבך עשית זאת ואחשך גם אנכי אותך מחטו לי על כן לא נתתיך לנגע אליה
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς καθ’ ὕπνον Κἀγὼ ἔγνων ὅτι ἐν καθαρᾷ καρδίᾳ ἐποίησας τοῦτο, καὶ ἐφεισάμην ἐγώ σου τοῦ μὴ ἁμαρτεῖν σε εἰς ἐμέ· ἕνεκεν τούτου οὐκ ἀφῆκά σε ἅψασθαι αὐτῆς.
And ha-Elohìmⓘ said to him in the dream: «I too knowⓘ that with the integrity of your heart you have done this; and I withheld I too youⓘ from sinning against me — for this reason I did not let you touch her».

ועתה השב אשת האיש כי נביא הוא ויתפלל בעדך וחיה ואם אינך משיב דע כי מות תמות אתה וכל אשר לך
νῦν δὲ ἀπόδος τὴν γυναῖκα τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ, ὅτι προφήτης ἐστὶν καὶ προσεύξεται περὶ σοῦ καὶ ζήσῃ· εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀποδίδως, γνῶθι ὅτι ἀποθανῇ σὺ καὶ πάντα τὰ σά.
«And now restore the man's wifeⓘ, for he is a prophetⓘ, and he will intercede for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that dying you will dieⓘ — you and all that is yours».

וישכם אבימלך בבקר ויקרא לכל עבדיו וידבר את כל הדברים האלה באזניהם וייראו האנשים מאד
καὶ ὤρθρισεν Αβιμελεχ τὸ πρωῒ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐλάλησεν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα εἰς τὰ ὦτα αὐτῶν, ἐφοβήθησαν δὲ πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι σφόδρα.
And Avimèlekh rose early in the morning and called all his servants and spoke in their hearing all these words; and all the men feared greatlyⓘ.

ויקרא אבימלך לאברהם ויאמר לו מה עשית לנו ומה חטאתי לך כי הבאת עלי ועל ממלכתי חטאה גדלה מעשים אשר לא יעשו עשית עמדי
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αβιμελεχ τὸν Αβρααμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας ἡμῖν; μή τι ἡμάρτομεν εἰς σέ, ὅτι ἐπήγαγες ἐπ’ ἐμὲ καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν μου ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην; ἔργον, ὃ οὐδεὶς ποιήσει, πεποίηκάς μοι.
And Avimèlekh called Avrahàm and said to him: «What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought upon me and upon my kingdom a great sinⓘ? Deeds that are not done you have done to me».

ויאמר אבימלך אל אברהם מה ראית כי עשית את הדבר הזה
εἶπεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ τῷ Αβρααμ Τί ἐνιδὼν ἐποίησας τοῦτο;
And Avimèlekh said to Avrahàm: «What did you seeⓘ that you did this thing?».

ויאמר אברהם כי אמרתי רק אין יראת אלהים במקום הזה והרגוני על דבר אשתי
εἶπεν δὲ Αβρααμ Εἶπα γάρ Ἄρα οὐκ ἔστιν θεοσέβεια ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ, ἐμέ τε ἀποκτενοῦσιν ἕνεκεν τῆς γυναικός μου.
And Avrahàm said: «Because I said: surely there is no fear of Elohìmⓘ in this place, and they will kill me on account of my wife».

וגם אמנה אחתי בת אבי הוא אך לא בת אמי ותהי לי לאשה
καὶ γὰρ ἀληθῶς ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν ἐκ πατρός, ἀλλ’ οὐκ ἐκ μητρός· ἐγενήθη δέ μοι εἰς γυναῖκα.
«And also in truth: she is my sister — daughter of my father is she, but not daughter of my mother, and she became a wife to me».

ויהי כאשר התעו אתי אלהים מבית אבי ואמר לה זה חסדך אשר תעשי עמדי אל כל המקום אשר נבוא שמה אמרי לי אחי הוא
ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἐξήγαγέν με ὁ θεὸς ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός μου, καὶ εἶπα αὐτῇ Ταύτην τὴν δικαιοσύνην ποιήσεις ἐπ’ ἐμέ· εἰς πάντα τόπον, οὗ ἐὰν εἰσέλθωμεν ἐκεῖ, εἰπὸν ἐμὲ ὅτι Ἀδελφός μού ἐστιν.
«And it came to pass that when Elohìm made me wanderⓘ from my father's house, I said to her: this is the faithful kindnessⓘ you will show me: in every place where we go, say of me: he is my brother».

ויקח אבימלך צאן ובקר ועבדים ושפחת ויתן לאברהם וישב לו את שרה אשתו
ἔλαβεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ χίλια δίδραχμα πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ παῖδας καὶ παιδίσκας καὶ ἔδωκεν τῷ Αβρααμ καὶ ἀπέδωκεν αὐτῷ Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Avimèlekh took a thousand didrachmasⓘ, sheep and calves and male servants and female servants, and gave them to Avrahàm, and restoredⓘ to him Saràh his wife.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Avimèlekh took flocks and herds and male servants and female servants and gave them to Avrahàm, and restored to him Saràh his wife. [the LXX adds] a thousand didrachmas of sheepⓘ

ויאמר אבימלך הנה ארצי לפניך בטוב בעיניך שב
καὶ εἶπεν Αβιμελεχ τῷ Αβρααμ Ἰδοὺ ἡ γῆ μου ἐναντίον σου· οὗ ἐάν σοι ἀρέσκῃ, κατοίκει.
And Avimèlekh said: «Behold, my land is before you — wherever it is good in your eyes, dwell».

ולשרה אמר הנה נתתי אלף כסף לאחיך הנה הוא לך כסות עינים לכל אשר אתך ואת כל ונכחת
τῇ δὲ Σαρρα εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ δέδωκα χίλια δίδραχμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου· ταῦτα ἔσται σοι εἰς τιμὴν τοῦ προσώπου σου καὶ πάσαις ταῖς μετὰ σοῦ· καὶ πάντα ἀλήθευσον.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And to Saràh he said: «Behold, I have given a thousand didrachmasⓘ to your brother; these shall be for you in honor of your faceⓘ, and for all those who are with you; and in everything tell the truthⓘ».—— Masoretic (MT) ——And to Saràh he said: «Behold, I have given a thousand of silverⓘ to your brother — behold, it is for you a covering of the eyesⓘ for all those who are with you; and before all you are vindicatedⓘ».

ויתפלל אברהם אל האלהים וירפא אלהים את אבימלך ואת אשתו ואמהתיו וילדו
προσηύξατο δὲ Αβρααμ πρὸς τὸν θεόν, καὶ ἰάσατο ὁ θεὸς τὸν Αβιμελεχ καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς παιδίσκας αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔτεκον·
And Avrahàm prayed to ha-Elohìmⓘ, and Elohìm healedⓘ Avimèlekh and his wife and his maidservants, and they bore childrenⓘ.

כי עצר עצר יהוה בעד כל רחם לבית אבימלך על דבר שרה אשת אברהם
ὅτι συγκλείων συνέκλεισεν κύριος ἔξωθεν πᾶσαν μήτραν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ Αβιμελεχ ἕνεκεν Σαρρας τῆς γυναικὸς Αβρααμ.
For shutting he had shutⓘ the Tetragrammatonⓘ every womb of the house of Avimèlekh — on account of Saràhⓘ, wife of Avrahàm.
