וירא אליו יהוה באלני ממרא והוא ישב פתח האהל כחם היום
Ὤφθη δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς πρὸς τῇ δρυὶ τῇ Μαμβρη καθημένου αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς αὐτοῦ μεσημβρίας.
And ⓘ appeared to him by the ⓘ, while he ⓘ at the entrance of his tent in the heat of ⓘ.

וישא עיניו וירא והנה שלשה אנשים נצבים עליו וירא וירץ לקראתם מפתח האהל וישתחו ארצה
ἀναβλέψας δὲ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ εἶδεν, καὶ ἰδοὺ τρεῖς ἄνδρες εἱστήκεισαν ἐπάνω αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἰδὼν προσέδραμεν εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς ἀπὸ τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ προσεκύνησεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν
He lifted up ⓘ and saw, and behold, ⓘ were standing over against him; when he saw them he ⓘ from the entrance of the tent and ⓘ.

ויאמר אדני אם נא מצאתי חן בעיניך אל נא תעבר מעל עבדך
καὶ εἶπεν Κύριε, εἰ ἄρα εὗρον χάριν ἐναντίον σου, μὴ παρέλθῃς τὸν παῖδά σου·
And he said: My ⓘ, if I have found ⓘ in your eyes, do not pass on beyond your servant.

יקח נא מעט מים ורחצו רגליכם והשענו תחת העץ
λημφθήτω δὴ ὕδωρ, καὶ νιψάτωσαν τοὺς πόδας ὑμῶν, καὶ καταψύξατε ὑπὸ τὸ δένδρον·
Let a little ⓘ be taken and wash your feet, and ⓘ under the tree.

ואקחה פת לחם וסעדו לבכם אחר תעברו כי על כן עברתם על עבדכם ויאמרו כן תעשה כאשר דברת
καὶ λήμψομαι ἄρτον, καὶ φάγεσθε, καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο παρελεύσεσθε εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῶν, οὗ εἵνεκεν ἐξεκλίνατε πρὸς τὸν παῖδα ὑμῶν. καὶ εἶπαν Οὕτως ποίησον, καθὼς εἴρηκας.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And I will bring bread, and you shall eat, and after this ⓘ, ⓘ. And they said: Do so, as you have said.—— Masoretic (MT) ——I will bring a morsel of bread, and you shall refresh your heart, then ⓘ, since for this you have passed by your servant. And they said: Do so, as you have said.

וימהר אברהם האהלה אל שרה ויאמר מהרי שלש סאים קמח סלת לושי ועשי עגות
καὶ ἔσπευσεν Αβρααμ ἐπὶ τὴν σκηνὴν πρὸς Σαρραν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Σπεῦσον καὶ φύρασον τρία μέτρα σεμιδάλεως καὶ ποίησον ἐγκρυφίας.
And Avrahàm hastened into the tent to Saràh and ⓘ: Quickly, three measures of ⓘ, knead it and make ⓘ.

ואל הבקר רץ אברהם ויקח בן בקר רך וטוב ויתן אל הנער וימהר לעשות אתו
καὶ εἰς τὰς βόας ἔδραμεν Αβρααμ καὶ ἔλαβεν μοσχάριον ἁπαλὸν καὶ καλὸν καὶ ἔδωκεν τῷ παιδί, καὶ ἐτάχυνεν τοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτό.
And to the herd Avrahàm ran and took a ⓘ and gave it to the ⓘ, who hastened to prepare it.

ויקח חמאה וחלב ובן הבקר אשר עשה ויתן לפניהם והוא עמד עליהם תחת העץ ויאכלו
ἔλαβεν δὲ βούτυρον καὶ γάλα καὶ τὸ μοσχάριον, ὃ ἐποίησεν, καὶ παρέθηκεν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐφάγοσαν· αὐτὸς δὲ παρειστήκει αὐτοῖς ὑπὸ τὸ δένδρον.
He then took ⓘ and the calf that he had prepared and set them before them, and they ate; and he ⓘ under the tree.

ויאמרו אליו איה שרה אשתך ויאמר הנה באהל
Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτόν Ποῦ Σαρρα ἡ γυνή σου; ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ.
ⓘ: Where is Saràh your wife? And ⓘ: Behold, in the tent.

ויאמר שוב אשוב אליך כעת חיה והנה בן לשרה אשתך ושרה שמעת פתח האהל והוא אחריו
εἶπεν δέ Ἐπαναστρέφων ἥξω πρὸς σὲ κατὰ τὸν καιρὸν τοῦτον εἰς ὥρας, καὶ ἕξει υἱὸν Σαρρα ἡ γυνή σου. Σαρρα δὲ ἤκουσεν πρὸς τῇ θύρᾳ τῆς σκηνῆς, οὖσα ὄπισθεν αὐτοῦ.
And he ⓘ: ⓘ to you ⓘ, and Saràh your wife shall have a son. And Saràh was listening at the entrance of the tent, ⓘ.

ואברהם ושרה זקנים באים בימים חדל להיות לשרה ארח כנשים
Αβρααμ δὲ καὶ Σαρρα πρεσβύτεροι προβεβηκότες ἡμερῶν, ἐξέλιπεν δὲ Σαρρα γίνεσθαι τὰ γυναικεῖα.
Avrahàm and Saràh were ⓘ; it had ⓘ to be with Saràh after the ⓘ.

ותצחק שרה בקרבה לאמר אחרי בלתי היתה לי עדנה ואדני זקן
ἐγέλασεν δὲ Σαρρα ἐν ἑαυτῇ λέγουσα Οὔπω μέν μοι γέγονεν ἕως τοῦ νῦν, ὁ δὲ κύριός μου πρεσβύτερος.
And ⓘ, saying: ⓘ, shall I have the pleasure of motherhood? and my ⓘ is old.

ויאמר יהוה אל אברהם למה זה צחקה שרה לאמר האף אמנם אלד ואני זקנתי
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Αβρααμ Τί ὅτι ἐγέλασεν Σαρρα ἐν ἑαυτῇ λέγουσα Ἆρά γε ἀληθῶς τέξομαι; ἐγὼ δὲ γεγήρακα.
And ⓘ said to Avrahàm: Why did Saràh laugh, saying: «Shall I indeed bear a child, I who have become ⓘ?».

היפלא מיהוה דבר למועד אשוב אליך כעת חיה ולשרה בן
μὴ ἀδυνατεῖ παρὰ τῷ θεῷ ῥῆμα; εἰς τὸν καιρὸν τοῦτον ἀναστρέψω πρὸς σὲ εἰς ὥρας, καὶ ἔσται τῇ Σαρρα υἱός.
Is anything ⓘ for ⓘ, a ⓘ? At the ⓘ I will return to you, at this season as it comes round, and Saràh shall have a son.

ותכחש שרה לאמר לא צחקתי כי יראה ויאמר לא כי צחקת
ἠρνήσατο δὲ Σαρρα λέγουσα Οὐκ ἐγέλασα· ἐφοβήθη γάρ. καὶ εἶπεν Οὐχί, ἀλλὰ ἐγέλασας.
And Saràh denied it, saying: I did not laugh; for she was ⓘ. But he said: No, you did laugh.

ויקמו משם האנשים וישקפו על פני סדם ואברהם הלך עמם לשלחם
Ἐξαναστάντες δὲ ἐκεῖθεν οἱ ἄνδρες κατέβλεψαν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον Σοδομων καὶ Γομορρας, Αβρααμ δὲ συνεπορεύετο μετ’ αὐτῶν συμπροπέμπων αὐτούς.
The men rose up from there and looked toward ⓘ, and Avrahàm went with them to ⓘ.

ויהוה אמר המכסה אני מאברהם אשר אני עשה
ὁ δὲ κύριος εἶπεν Μὴ κρύψω ἐγὼ ἀπὸ Αβρααμ τοῦ παιδός μου ἃ ἐγὼ ποιῶ;
And ⓘ said: ⓘ what I am about to do to Avrahàm, ⓘ?

ואברהם היו יהיה לגוי גדול ועצום ונברכו בו כל גויי הארץ
Αβρααμ δὲ γινόμενος ἔσται εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ πολύ, καὶ ἐνευλογηθήσονται ἐν αὐτῷ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τῆς γῆς.
Avrahàm shall surely become a ⓘ, and in him shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.

כי ידעתיו למען אשר יצוה את בניו ואת ביתו אחריו ושמרו דרך יהוה לעשות צדקה ומשפט למען הביא יהוה על אברהם את אשר דבר עליו
ᾔδειν γὰρ ὅτι συντάξει τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτόν, καὶ φυλάξουσιν τὰς ὁδοὺς κυρίου ποιεῖν δικαιοσύνην καὶ κρίσιν· ὅπως ἂν ἐπαγάγῃ κύριος ἐπὶ Αβρααμ πάντα, ὅσα ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτόν.
For ⓘ, that he may command his children and his house after him to keep the ⓘ, doing ⓘ, so that ⓘ may bring upon Avrahàm what he has promised him.

ויאמר יהוה זעקת סדם ועמרה כי רבה וחטאתם כי כבדה מאד
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος Κραυγὴ Σοδομων καὶ Γομορρας πεπλήθυνται, καὶ αἱ ἁμαρτίαι αὐτῶν μεγάλαι σφόδρα·
And ⓘ said: The ⓘ of Sodom and Gomorrah has become ⓘ, and their sin has become very grievous.

ארדה נא ואראה הכצעקתה הבאה אלי עשו כלה ואם לא אדעה
καταβὰς οὖν ὄψομαι εἰ κατὰ τὴν κραυγὴν αὐτῶν τὴν ἐρχομένην πρός με συντελοῦνται, εἰ δὲ μή, ἵνα γνῶ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——Having gone down, then, I will see whether ⓘ, and if not, that I may know.—— Masoretic (MT) ——I will go down, then, and see whether they have done ⓘ altogether — and if not, I will know.

ויפנו משם האנשים וילכו סדמה ויהוה עודנו עמד לפני אברהם
καὶ ἀποστρέψαντες ἐκεῖθεν οἱ ἄνδρες ἦλθον εἰς Σοδομα, Αβρααμ δὲ ἦν ἑστηκὼς ἐναντίον κυρίου.
The men turned from there and went toward Sodom, but ⓘ was still standing before Avrahàm.
23
ויגש אברהם ויאמר האף תספה צדיק עם רשע
καὶ ἐγγίσας Αβρααμ εἶπεν Μὴ συναπολέσῃς δίκαιον μετὰ ἀσεβοῦς καὶ ἔσται ὁ δίκαιος ὡς ὁ ἀσεβής;
And Avrahàm drew near and said: Will you indeed ⓘ, so that the righteous should be as the wicked?

אולי יש חמשים צדיקם בתוך העיר האף תספה ולא תשא למקום למען חמשים הצדיקם אשר בקרבה
ἐὰν ὦσιν πεντήκοντα δίκαιοι ἐν τῇ πόλει, ἀπολεῖς αὐτούς; οὐκ ἀνήσεις πάντα τὸν τόπον ἕνεκεν τῶν πεντήκοντα δικαίων, ἐὰν ὦσιν ἐν αὐτῇ;
If there were ⓘ within the city, will you indeed sweep it away? Will you not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are within it?
25
חללה לך מעשת כדבר הזה להמית צדיק עם רשע והיה כצדיק כרשע חללה לך השפט כל הארץ לא יעשה משפט
μηδαμῶς σὺ ποιήσεις ὡς τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο, τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναι δίκαιον μετὰ ἀσεβοῦς, καὶ ἔσται ὁ δίκαιος ὡς ὁ ἀσεβής. μηδαμῶς· ὁ κρίνων πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν οὐ ποιήσεις κρίσιν;
Far be it from you ⓘ, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked! Far be it from you to do so! Shall the ⓘ not do ⓘ?

ויאמר יהוה אם אמצא בסדם חמשים צדיקם בתוך העיר ונשאתי לכל המקום בעבורם
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος Ἐὰν εὕρω ἐν Σοδομοις πεντήκοντα δικαίους ἐν τῇ πόλει, ἀφήσω πάντα τὸν τόπον δι’ αὐτούς.
And ⓘ said: If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.
27
ויען אברהם ויאמר הנה נא הואלתי לדבר אל אדני ואנכי עפר ואפר
καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς Αβρααμ εἶπεν Νῦν ἠρξάμην λαλῆσαι πρὸς τὸν κύριον, ἐγὼ δέ εἰμι γῆ καὶ σποδός·
And Avrahàm answered and said: Behold, I have ventured to speak to my Lord, and I am ⓘ.
28
אולי יחסרון חמשים הצדיקם חמשה התשחית בחמשה את כל העיר ויאמר לא אשחית אם אמצא שם ארבעים וחמשה
ἐὰν δὲ ἐλαττονωθῶσιν οἱ πεντήκοντα δίκαιοι πέντε, ἀπολεῖς ἕνεκεν τῶν πέντε πᾶσαν τὴν πόλιν; καὶ εἶπεν Οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσω, ἐὰν εὕρω ἐκεῖ τεσσαράκοντα πέντε.
Perhaps the fifty righteous will lack five — will you destroy the whole city for the five? And he said: I will not destroy it, if I find there forty-five.

ויסף עוד לדבר אליו ויאמר אולי ימצאון שם ארבעים ויאמר לא אעשה בעבור הארבעים
καὶ προσέθηκεν ἔτι λαλῆσαι πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν Ἐὰν δὲ εὑρεθῶσιν ἐκεῖ τεσσαράκοντα; καὶ εἶπεν Οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσω ἕνεκεν τῶν τεσσαράκοντα.
And he spoke to him yet again and said: Perhaps forty will be found there? And he said: I will not do it, for the sake of the forty.
30
ויאמר אל נא יחר לאדני ואדברה אולי ימצאון שם שלשים ויאמר לא אעשה אם אמצא שם שלשים
καὶ εἶπεν Μή τι, κύριε, ἐὰν λαλήσω· ἐὰν δὲ εὑρεθῶσιν ἐκεῖ τριάκοντα; καὶ εἶπεν Οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσω, ἐὰν εὕρω ἐκεῖ τριάκοντα.
And he said: Let not my Lord be angry, and I will speak again: perhaps ⓘ will be found there? And he said: I will not do it, if I find there thirty.
31
ויאמר הנה נא הואלתי לדבר אל אדני אולי ימצאון שם עשרים ויאמר לא אשחית בעבור העשרים
καὶ εἶπεν Ἐπειδὴ ἔχω λαλῆσαι πρὸς τὸν κύριον, ἐὰν δὲ εὑρεθῶσιν ἐκεῖ εἴκοσι; καὶ εἶπεν Οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσω ἕνεκεν τῶν εἴκοσι.
And he said: Behold, I have ventured to speak to my Lord: perhaps twenty will be found there? And he said: I will not destroy it, for the sake of the twenty.
32
ויאמר אל נא יחר לאדני ואדברה אך הפעם אולי ימצאון שם עשרה ויאמר לא אשחית בעבור העשרה
καὶ εἶπεν Μή τι, κύριε, ἐὰν λαλήσω ἔτι ἅπαξ· ἐὰν δὲ εὑρεθῶσιν ἐκεῖ δέκα; καὶ εἶπεν Οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσω ἕνεκεν τῶν δέκα.
And he said: Let not my Lord be angry, and I will speak only this once more: perhaps ⓘ will be found there? And he said: I will not destroy it, for the sake of the ten.
33
וילך יהוה כאשר כלה לדבר אל אברהם ואברהם שב למקמו
ἀπῆλθεν δὲ κύριος, ὡς ἐπαύσατο λαλῶν τῷ Αβρααμ, καὶ Αβρααμ ἀπέστρεψεν εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ.
And ⓘ went his way, when he had finished speaking to Avrahàm, and Avrahàm returned to his place.
