Genesis 31 — the flight from Lavàn, the terafìm and the covenant of the Galʿèd

וישמע את דברי בני לבן לאמר לקח יעקב את כל אשר לאבינו ומאשר לאבינו עשה את כל הכבד הזה
Ἤκουσεν δὲ Ιακωβ τὰ ῥήματα τῶν υἱῶν Λαβαν λεγόντων Εἴληφεν Ιακωβ πάντα τὰ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ ἐκ τῶν τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν πεποίηκεν πᾶσαν τὴν δόξαν ταύτην.
Yaaqòv heard the words of the sons of Lavàn, who said: «Yaaqòv has taken everything that belonged to our father, and from what was our father's he has made all this ⓘ».

וירא יעקב את פני לבן והנה איננו עמו כתמול שלשום
καὶ εἶδεν Ιακωβ τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ Λαβαν, καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἦν πρὸς αὐτὸν ὡς ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν.
Yaaqòv looked at the ⓘ of Lavàn: and behold, it was no longer toward him ⓘ.

ויאמר יהוה אל יעקב שוב אל ארץ אבותיך ולמולדתך ואהיה עמך
εἶπεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Ιακωβ Ἀποστρέφου εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ πατρός σου καὶ εἰς τὴν γενεάν σου, καὶ ἔσομαι μετὰ σοῦ.
ⓘ said to Yaaqòv: «ⓘ to the land of your fathers and to your ⓘ, and I will be with you».

וישלח יעקב ויקרא לרחל וללאה השדה אל צאנו
ἀποστείλας δὲ Ιακωβ ἐκάλεσεν Ραχηλ καὶ Λειαν εἰς τὸ πεδίον, οὗ τὰ ποίμνια,
Yaaqòv sent and called Rachèl and Leàh to the ⓘ by his flock.

ויאמר להן ראה אנכי את פני אביכן כי איננו אלי כתמל שלשם ואלהי אבי היה עמדי
καὶ εἶπεν αὐταῖς Ὁρῶ ἐγὼ τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν πρὸς ἐμοῦ ὡς ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν· ὁ δὲ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου ἦν μετ’ ἐμοῦ.
He said to them: «I see the pànim of your father, that it is no longer toward me as yesterday and the day before; but the ⓘ of my father has been with me.

ואתנה ידעתן כי בכל כחי עבדתי את אביכן
καὶ αὐταὶ δὲ οἴδατε ὅτι ἐν πάσῃ τῇ ἰσχύι μου δεδούλευκα τῷ πατρὶ ὑμῶν.
You yourselves know that with all my ⓘ I have served your father.

ואביכן התל בי והחלף את משכרתי עשרת מנים ולא נתנו אלהים להרע עמדי
ὁ δὲ πατὴρ ὑμῶν παρεκρούσατό με καὶ ἤλλαξεν τὸν μισθόν μου τῶν δέκα ἀμνῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς κακοποιῆσαί με.
But your father has ⓘ me and has changed my ⓘ ⓘ; and God did not let him do me harm.

אם כה יאמר נקדים יהיה שכרך וילדו כל הצאן נקדים ואם כה יאמר עקדים יהיה שכרך וילדו כל הצאן עקדים
ἐὰν οὕτως εἴπῃ Τὰ ποικίλα ἔσται σου μισθός, καὶ τέξεται πάντα τὰ πρόβατα ποικίλα· ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ Τὰ λευκὰ ἔσται σου μισθός, καὶ τέξεται πάντα τὰ πρόβατα λευκά·
If he said: 'The ⓘ shall be your wages', all the flock bore neqùddìm; if he said: 'The ⓘ shall be your wages', all the flock bore aqùddìm.

ויצל אלהים את מקנה אביכם ויתן לי
καὶ ἀφείλατο ὁ θεὸς πάντα τὰ κτήνη τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν καὶ ἔδωκέν μοι αὐτά.
So God ⓘ your father's livestock and gave it to me.

ויהי בעת יחם הצאן ואשא עיני וארא בחלום והנה העתדים העלים על הצאן עקדים נקדים וברדים
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἐνεκίσσων τὰ πρόβατα, καὶ εἶδον τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτὰ ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ, καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ τράγοι καὶ οἱ κριοὶ ἀναβαίνοντες ἦσαν ἐπὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τὰς αἶγας διάλευκοι καὶ ποικίλοι καὶ σποδοειδεῖς ῥαντοί.
It happened at the time when the flock was in heat: I lifted my eyes and saw in a dream — and behold, the ⓘ mounting the flock were aqùddìm, neqùddìm, and ⓘ.

ויאמר אלי מלאך האלהים בחלום יעקב ואמר הנני
καὶ εἶπέν μοι ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ καθ’ ὕπνον Ιακωβ· ἐγὼ δὲ εἶπα Τί ἐστιν;
The ⓘ of God said to me in the dream: 'Yaaqòv!' And I answered: 'ⓘ'.

ויאמר שא נא עיניך וראה כל העתדים העלים על הצאן עקדים נקדים וברדים כי ראיתי את כל אשר לבן עשה לך
καὶ εἶπεν Ἀνάβλεψον τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου καὶ ἰδὲ τοὺς τράγους καὶ τοὺς κριοὺς ἀναβαίνοντας ἐπὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τὰς αἶγας διαλεύκους καὶ ποικίλους καὶ σποδοειδεῖς ῥαντούς· ἑώρακα γὰρ ὅσα σοι Λαβαν ποιεῖ.
And he said: 'Lift up now your eyes and see: all the goats mounting the flock are aqùddìm, neqùddìm, and beruddìm — for I have seen all that Lavàn has done to you.

אנכי האל בית אל אשר משחת שם מצבה אשר נדרת לי שם נדר עתה קום צא מן הארץ הזאת ושוב אל ארץ מולדתך
ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ θεὸς ὁ ὀφθείς σοι ἐν τόπῳ θεοῦ, οὗ ἤλειψάς μοι ἐκεῖ στήλην καὶ ηὔξω μοι ἐκεῖ εὐχήν· νῦν οὖν ἀνάστηθι καὶ ἔξελθε ἐκ τῆς γῆς ταύτης καὶ ἄπελθε εἰς τὴν γῆν τῆς γενέσεώς σου, καὶ ἔσομαι μετὰ σοῦ.
I am the ⓘ, where you anointed the ⓘ and where you made a ⓘ to me. Now arise, go out from this land and return to the land of your molèdet'».

ותען רחל ולאה ותאמרנה לו העוד לנו חלק ונחלה בבית אבינו
καὶ ἀποκριθεῖσα Ραχηλ καὶ Λεια εἶπαν αὐτῷ Μὴ ἔστιν ἡμῖν ἔτι μερὶς ἢ κληρονομία ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν;
Rachèl and Leàh answered and said: «Is there still for us a ⓘ and ⓘ in our father's house?

הלוא נכריות נחשבנו לו כי מכרנו ויאכל גם אכול את כספנו
οὐχ ὡς αἱ ἀλλότριαι λελογίσμεθα αὐτῷ; πέπρακεν γὰρ ἡμᾶς καὶ κατέφαγεν καταβρώσει τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμῶν.
Are we not reckoned by him as ⓘ? He has sold us and has also consumed — ⓘ — our ⓘ.

כי כל העשר אשר הציל אלהים מאבינו לנו הוא ולבנינו ועתה כל אשר אמר אלהים אליך עשה
πάντα τὸν πλοῦτον καὶ τὴν δόξαν, ἣν ἀφείλατο ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν, ἡμῖν ἔσται καὶ τοῖς τέκνοις ἡμῶν. νῦν οὖν ὅσα εἴρηκέν σοι ὁ θεός, ποίει.
All the ⓘ that God has taken away from our father is ours and our children's. Now do all that God has told you».

ויקם יעקב וישא את בניו ואת נשיו על הגמלים
Ἀναστὰς δὲ Ιακωβ ἔλαβεν τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὰς καμήλους
Yaaqòv arose, set his children and his wives on the camels,
18
וינהג את כל מקנהו ואת כל רכשו אשר רכש מקנה קנינו אשר רכש בפדן ארם לבוא אל יצחק אביו ארצה כנען
καὶ ἀπήγαγεν πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτοῦ, ἣν περιεποιήσατο ἐν τῇ Μεσοποταμίᾳ, καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ ἀπελθεῖν πρὸς Ισαακ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ εἰς γῆν Χανααν.
and led away all his ⓘ and all his ⓘ that he had gained — miqnèh of his own that he had acquired in ⓘ — to go to Yitzchàq his father in the ⓘ.

ולבן הלך לגזז את צאנו ותגנב רחל את התרפים אשר לאביה
Λαβαν δὲ ᾤχετο κεῖραι τὰ πρόβατα αὐτοῦ· ἔκλεψεν δὲ Ραχηλ τὰ εἴδωλα τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς.
Lavàn had gone to shear his flock; and Rachèl ⓘ the ⓘ that were her father's.
20
ויגנב יעקב את לב לבן הארמי על בלי הגיד לו כי ברח הוא
ἔκρυψεν δὲ Ιακωβ Λαβαν τὸν Σύρον τοῦ μὴ ἀναγγεῖλαι αὐτῷ ὅτι ἀποδιδράσκει,
Yaaqòv ⓘ of Lavàn the Aramean, by not telling him that he ⓘ.
21
ויברח הוא וכל אשר לו ויקם ויעבר את הנהר וישם את פניו הר הגלעד
καὶ ἀπέδρα αὐτὸς καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ καὶ διέβη τὸν ποταμὸν καὶ ὥρμησεν εἰς τὸ ὄρος Γαλααδ.
He fled, he and all that was his; he arose, crossed ⓘ and set his pànim toward Mount Ghilèad.

ויגד ללבן ביום השלישי כי ברח יעקב
ἀνηγγέλη δὲ Λαβαν τῷ Σύρῳ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ὅτι ἀπέδρα Ιακωβ,
It was reported to Lavàn on the third day that Yaaqòv had fled.
23
ויקח את אחיו עמו וירדף אחריו דרך שבעת ימים וידבק אתו בהר הגלעד
καὶ παραλαβὼν πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ ἐδίωξεν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ὁδὸν ἡμερῶν ἑπτὰ καὶ κατέλαβεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ὄρει τῷ Γαλααδ.
He took his brothers with him, pursued him a seven days' journey, and overtook him at Mount Ghilèad.

ויבא אלהים אל לבן הארמי בחלם הלילה ויאמר לו השמר לך פן תדבר עם יעקב מטוב עד רע
ἦλθεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Λαβαν τὸν Σύρον καθ’ ὕπνον τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Φύλαξαι σεαυτόν, μήποτε λαλήσῃς μετὰ Ιακωβ πονηρά.
God came to Lavàn the Aramean in the dream of the night and said to him: «ⓘ not to speak with Yaaqòv ⓘ».
25
וישג לבן את יעקב ויעקב תקע את אהלו בהר ולבן תקע את אחיו בהר הגלעד
καὶ κατέλαβεν Λαβαν τὸν Ιακωβ· Ιακωβ δὲ ἔπηξεν τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ὄρει· Λαβαν δὲ ἔστησεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ὄρει Γαλααδ.
Lavàn overtook Yaaqòv; Yaaqòv had pitched his tent on the mountain, and Lavàn with his brothers had pitched their tents on Mount Ghilèad.
26
ויאמר לבן ליעקב מה עשית ותגנב את לבבי ותנהג את בנתי כשביות חרב
εἶπεν δὲ Λαβαν τῷ Ιακωβ Τί ἐποίησας; ἵνα τί κρυφῇ ἀπέδρας καὶ ἐκλοποφόρησάς με καὶ ἀπήγαγες τὰς θυγατέρας μου ὡς αἰχμαλώτιδας μαχαίρᾳ;
Lavàn said to Yaaqòv: «What have you done? You have ⓘ and led away my daughters like ⓘ!
27
למה נחבאת לברח ותגנב אתי ולא הגדת לי ואשלחך בשמחה ובשרים בתף ובכנור
καὶ εἰ ἀνήγγειλάς μοι, ἐξαπέστειλα ἄν σε μετ’ εὐφροσύνης καὶ μετὰ μουσικῶν, τυμπάνων καὶ κιθάρας.
Why did you hide yourself to flee, deceive me, and not tell me? I would have sent you off with ⓘ, with ⓘ, with ⓘ and ⓘ.
28
ולא נטשתני לנשק לבני ולבנתי עתה הסכלת עשו
οὐκ ἠξιώθην καταφιλῆσαι τὰ παιδία μου καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας μου. νῦν δὲ ἀφρόνως ἔπραξας.
You did not let me kiss my sons and my daughters. Now ⓘ.
29
יש לאל ידי לעשות עמכם רע ואלהי אביכם אמש אמר אלי לאמר השמר לך מדבר עם יעקב מטוב עד רע
καὶ νῦν ἰσχύει ἡ χείρ μου κακοποιῆσαί σε· ὁ δὲ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός σου ἐχθὲς εἶπεν πρός με λέγων Φύλαξαι σεαυτόν, μήποτε λαλήσῃς μετὰ Ιακωβ πονηρά.
It is ⓘ to do you harm; but the God of your father ⓘ said to me: 'Take heed not to speak with Yaaqòv either good or evil'.
30
ועתה הלך הלכת כי נכסף נכספתה לבית אביך למה גנבת את אלהי
νῦν οὖν πεπόρευσαι· ἐπιθυμίᾳ γὰρ ἐπεθύμησας ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός σου· ἵνα τί ἔκλεψας τοὺς θεούς μου;
So now, ⓘ because you ⓘ for your father's house — but why have you ⓘ?».
31
ויען יעקב ויאמר ללבן כי יראתי כי אמרתי פן תגזל את בנותיך מעמי
ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ιακωβ εἶπεν τῷ Λαβαν Εἶπα γάρ Μήποτε ἀφέλῃς τὰς θυγατέρας σου ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐμά·
Yaaqòv answered and said to Lavàn: «Because I ⓘ, thinking that perhaps you would ⓘ your daughters from me.

עם אשר תמצא את אלהיך לא יחיה נגד אחינו הכר לך מה עמדי וקח לך ולא ידע יעקב כי רחל גנבתם
ἐπίγνωθι, τί ἐστιν τῶν σῶν παρ’ ἐμοί, καὶ λαβέ. καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω παρ’ αὐτῷ οὐθέν. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ιακωβ Παρ ᾧ ἐὰν εὕρῃς τοὺς θεούς σου, οὐ ζήσεται ἐναντίον τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν. οὐκ ᾔδει δὲ Ιακωβ ὅτι Ραχηλ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ ἔκλεψεν αὐτούς.
Whoever you find with ⓘ shall not live — before our brothers, ⓘ what is with me and take it». Yaaqòv did not know that Rachèl had stolen them.
33
ויבא לבן באהל יעקב ובאהל לאה ובאהל שתי האמהת ולא מצא ויצא מאהל לאה ויבא באהל רחל
εἰσελθὼν δὲ Λαβαν ἠρεύνησεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον Λειας καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν· καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Λειας ἠρεύνησεν τὸν οἶκον Ιακωβ καὶ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τῶν δύο παιδισκῶν καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν. εἰσῆλθεν δὲ καὶ εἰς τὸν οἶκον Ραχηλ.
Lavàn entered the tent of Yaaqòv, the tent of Leàh, the tent of the two ⓘ, and found nothing. He went out of Leàh's tent and entered Rachèl's tent.
34
ורחל לקחה את התרפים ותשמם בכר הגמל ותשב עליהם וימשש לבן את כל האהל ולא מצא
Ραχηλ δὲ ἔλαβεν τὰ εἴδωλα καὶ ἐνέβαλεν αὐτὰ εἰς τὰ σάγματα τῆς καμήλου καὶ ἐπεκάθισεν αὐτοῖς
Rachèl had taken the terafìm, had put them in the ⓘ of the camel, and had sat upon them. Lavàn ⓘ through all the tent and found nothing.
35
ותאמר אל אביה אל יחר בעיני אדני כי לוא אוכל לקום מפניך כי דרך נשים לי ויחפש ולא מצא את התרפים
καὶ εἶπεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτῆς Μὴ βαρέως φέρε, κύριε· οὐ δύναμαι ἀναστῆναι ἐνώπιόν σου, ὅτι τὸ κατ’ ἐθισμὸν τῶν γυναικῶν μοί ἐστιν. ἠρεύνησεν δὲ Λαβαν ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν τὰ εἴδωλα.
She said to her father: «Let not ⓘ, for I cannot rise before you, since I have the ⓘ». He searched and did not find the terafìm.
36
ויחר ליעקב וירב בלבן ויען יעקב ויאמר ללבן מה פשעי מה חטאתי כי דלקת אחרי
ὠργίσθη δὲ Ιακωβ καὶ ἐμαχέσατο τῷ Λαβαν· ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ιακωβ εἶπεν τῷ Λαβαν Τί τὸ ἀδίκημά μου καὶ τί τὸ ἁμάρτημά μου, ὅτι κατεδίωξας ὀπίσω μου
Yaaqòv ⓘ and contended with Lavàn; he answered and said: «What is my ⓘ, what is my ⓘ, that ⓘ?
37
כי מששת את כל כלי מה מצאת מכל כלי ביתך שים כה נגד אחי ואחיך ויוכיחו בין שנינו
καὶ ὅτι ἠρεύνησας πάντα τὰ σκεύη μου; τί εὗρες ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν σκευῶν τοῦ οἴκου σου; θὲς ὧδε ἐναντίον τῶν ἀδελφῶν μου καὶ τῶν ἀδελφῶν σου, καὶ ἐλεγξάτωσαν ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν δύο ἡμῶν.
You have felt through all my belongings — what have you found of all your household's belongings? Set it here before my brothers and your brothers, and let them ⓘ between us two.
38
זה עשרים שנה אנכי עמך רחליך ועזיך לא שכלו ואילי צאנך לא אכלתי
ταῦτά μοι εἴκοσι ἔτη ἐγώ εἰμι μετὰ σοῦ· τὰ πρόβατά σου καὶ αἱ αἶγές σου οὐκ ἠτεκνώθησαν· κριοὺς τῶν προβάτων σου οὐ κατέφαγον·
These twenty years I have been with you: your ewes and your she-goats have not ⓘ, and the rams of your flock I have not eaten.
39
טרפה לא הבאתי אליך אנכי אחטנה מידי תבקשנה גנבתי יום וגנבתי לילה
θηριάλωτον οὐκ ἀνενήνοχά σοι, ἐγὼ ἀπετίννυον παρ’ ἐμαυτοῦ κλέμματα ἡμέρας καὶ κλέμματα νυκτός·
ⓘ I did not bring to you: ⓘ; from my hand you required it — stolen by day and stolen by night.
40
הייתי ביום אכלני חרב וקרח בלילה ותדד שנתי מעיני
ἐγινόμην τῆς ἡμέρας συγκαιόμενος τῷ καύματι καὶ παγετῷ τῆς νυκτός, καὶ ἀφίστατο ὁ ὕπνος ἀπὸ τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου.
By day the ⓘ consumed me and the ⓘ by night, and ⓘ from my eyes.
41
זה לי עשרים שנה בביתך עבדתיך ארבע עשרה שנה בשתי בנתיך ושש שנים בצאנך ותחלף את משכרתי עשרת מנים
ταῦτά μοι εἴκοσι ἔτη ἐγώ εἰμι ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ σου· ἐδούλευσά σοι δέκα τέσσαρα ἔτη ἀντὶ τῶν δύο θυγατέρων σου καὶ ἓξ ἔτη ἐν τοῖς προβάτοις σου, καὶ παρελογίσω τὸν μισθόν μου δέκα ἀμνάσιν.
These twenty years in your house: I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flock, and you changed my wages ten times.
42
לולי אלהי אבי אלהי אברהם ופחד יצחק היה לי כי עתה ריקם שלחתני את עניי ואת יגיע כפי ראה אלהים ויוכח אמש
εἰ μὴ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ πατρός μου Αβρααμ καὶ ὁ φόβος Ισαακ ἦν μοι, νῦν ἂν κενόν με ἐξαπέστειλας· τὴν ταπείνωσίν μου καὶ τὸν κόπον τῶν χειρῶν μου εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἤλεγξέν σε ἐχθές.
ⓘ for the God of my father — the God of Avràhàm and the ⓘ — surely now you would have sent me away ⓘ. God has seen my ⓘ and the labor of my ⓘ, and last night he judged».
43
ויען לבן ויאמר אל יעקב הבנות בנתי והבנים בני והצאן צאני וכל אשר אתה ראה לי הוא ולבנתי מה אעשה לאלה היום או לבניהן אשר ילדו
ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Λαβαν εἶπεν τῷ Ιακωβ Αἱ θυγατέρες θυγατέρες μου, καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ υἱοί μου, καὶ τὰ κτήνη κτήνη μου, καὶ πάντα, ὅσα σὺ ὁρᾷς, ἐμά ἐστιν καὶ τῶν θυγατέρων μου. τί ποιήσω ταύταις σήμερον ἢ τοῖς τέκνοις αὐτῶν, οἷς ἔτεκον;
Lavàn answered and said to Yaaqòv: «The daughters are my daughters, the children are my children, the flock is my flock, and all that you see is mine. And for my daughters, what can I do today for them or for their children whom they have borne?

ועתה לכה נכרתה ברית אני ואתה והיה לעד ביני ובינך

ויקח יעקב אבן וירימה מצבה
λαβὼν δὲ Ιακωβ λίθον ἔστησεν αὐτὸν στήλην.
Yaaqòv took a stone and raised it up as a ⓘ.

ויאמר יעקב לאחיו לקטו אבנים ויקחו אבנים ויעשו גל ויאכלו שם על הגל
εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ Συλλέγετε λίθους. καὶ συνέλεξαν λίθους καὶ ἐποίησαν βουνόν, καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἔπιον ἐκεῖ ἐπὶ τοῦ βουνοῦ. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Λαβαν Ὁ βουνὸς οὗτος μαρτυρεῖ ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ σήμερον.

ויקרא לו לבן יגר שהדותא ויעקב קרא לו גלעד
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν Λαβαν Βουνὸς τῆς μαρτυρίας, Ιακωβ δὲ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν Βουνὸς μάρτυς.

ויאמר לבן הגל הזה עד ביני ובינך היום על כן קרא שמו גלעד
εἶπεν δὲ Λαβαν τῷ Ιακωβ Ἰδοὺ ὁ βουνὸς οὗτος καὶ ἡ στήλη αὕτη, ἣν ἔστησα ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ, μαρτυρεῖ ὁ βουνὸς οὗτος καὶ μαρτυρεῖ ἡ στήλη αὕτη· διὰ τοῦτο ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Βουνὸς μαρτυρεῖ

אם תענה את בנתי ואם תקח נשים על בנתי אין איש עמנו ראה אלהים עד ביני ובינך

עד הגל הזה ועדה המצבה אם אני לא אעבר אליך את הגל הזה ואם אתה לא תעבר אלי את הגל הזה ואת המצבה הזאת לרעה
ἐάν τε γὰρ ἐγὼ μὴ διαβῶ πρὸς σὲ μηδὲ σὺ διαβῇς πρός με τὸν βουνὸν τοῦτον καὶ τὴν στήλην ταύτην ἐπὶ κακίᾳ,
This gal is witness and the matzevàh is witness: I will not pass toward you beyond this gal, and you will not pass toward me beyond this gal and this matzevàh to do ⓘ.

אלהי אברהם ואלהי נחור ישפטו בינינו אלהי אביהם וישבע יעקב בפחד אביו יצחק
ὁ θεὸς Αβρααμ καὶ ὁ θεὸς Ναχωρ κρινεῖ ἀνὰ μέσον ἡμῶν. καὶ ὤμοσεν Ιακωβ κατὰ τοῦ φόβου τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ Ισαακ.

ויזבח יעקב זבח בהר ויקרא לאחיו לאכל לחם ויאכלו לחם וילינו בהר
καὶ ἔθυσεν Ιακωβ θυσίαν ἐν τῷ ὄρει καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἔπιον καὶ ἐκοιμήθησαν ἐν τῷ ὄρει.
Yaaqòv ⓘ on the mountain and called his brothers to eat bread; they ate ⓘ and spent the night on the mountain.
