ויהי מקץ שנתים ימים ופרעה חלם והנה עמד על היאר
Ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ δύο ἔτη ἡμερῶν Φαραω εἶδεν ἐνύπνιον. ᾤετο ἑστάναι ἐπὶ τοῦ ποταμοῦ,
It came to pass at the end of two years of daysⓘ that Pharaoh dreamed: and behold, he was standing by the riverⓘ.

והנה מן היאר עלת שבע פרות יפות מראה ובריאת בשר ותרעינה באחו
καὶ ἰδοὺ ὥσπερ ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ ἀνέβαινον ἑπτὰ βόες καλαὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ ἐκλεκταὶ ταῖς σαρξὶν καὶ ἐβόσκοντο ἐν τῷ ἄχει·
And behold, out of the river came up seven cows fair of appearanceⓘ and fat of fleshⓘ, and they grazed in the akhùⓘ.

והנה שבע פרות אחרות עלות אחריהן מן היאר רעות מראה ודקות בשר ותעמדנה אצל הפרות על שפת היאר
ἄλλαι δὲ ἑπτὰ βόες ἀνέβαινον μετὰ ταύτας ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ αἰσχραὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ λεπταὶ ταῖς σαρξὶν καὶ ἐνέμοντο παρὰ τὰς βόας παρὰ τὸ χεῖλος τοῦ ποταμοῦ·
And behold, seven other cowsⓘ came up after them out of the river, ugly of appearanceⓘ and lean of fleshⓘ, and they stood beside the cowsⓘ on the bank of the riverⓘ.

ותאכלנה הפרות רעות המראה ודקת הבשר את שבע הפרות יפת המראה והבריאת וייקץ פרעה
καὶ κατέφαγον αἱ ἑπτὰ βόες αἱ αἰσχραὶ καὶ λεπταὶ ταῖς σαρξὶν τὰς ἑπτὰ βόας τὰς καλὰς τῷ εἴδει καὶ τὰς ἐκλεκτάς. ἠγέρθη δὲ Φαραω. –
The cows ugly of appearance and leanⓘ devoured the seven cows fair of appearance and fatⓘ. And Pharaoh awoke.

ויישן ויחלם שנית והנה שבע שבלים עלות בקנה אחד בריאות וטבות
καὶ ἐνυπνιάσθη τὸ δεύτερον, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἑπτὰ στάχυες ἀνέβαινον ἐν πυθμένι ἑνὶ ἐκλεκτοὶ καὶ καλοί·
He fell asleep again and dreamed a second timeⓘ: and behold, seven earsⓘ came up on a single stalk, full and fairⓘ.

והנה שבע שבלים דקות ושדופת קדים צמחות אחריהן
ἄλλοι δὲ ἑπτὰ στάχυες λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι ἀνεφύοντο μετ’ αὐτούς·
And behold, seven lean earsⓘ and scorched by the east windⓘ sprouted after them.

ותבלענה השבלים הדקות את שבע השבלים הבריאות והמלאות וייקץ פרעה והנה חלום
καὶ κατέπιον οἱ ἑπτὰ στάχυες οἱ λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι τοὺς ἑπτὰ στάχυας τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς καὶ τοὺς πλήρεις. ἠγέρθη δὲ Φαραω, καὶ ἦν ἐνύπνιον.
The seven lean ears swallowedⓘ the seven ears full and fairⓘ. Pharaoh awoke — and behold: it was a dreamⓘ.

ויהי בבקר ותפעם רוחו וישלח ויקרא את כל חרטמי מצרים ואת כל חכמיה ויספר פרעה להם את חלמו ואין פותר אותם לפרעה
Ἐγένετο δὲ πρωῒ καὶ ἐταράχθη ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀποστείλας ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς ἐξηγητὰς Αἰγύπτου καὶ πάντας τοὺς σοφοὺς αὐτῆς, καὶ διηγήσατο αὐτοῖς Φαραω τὸ ἐνύπνιον, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἀπαγγέλλων αὐτὸ τῷ Φαραω.
In the morning his spirit was troubledⓘ and he sent to call all the khartummìm of Egyptⓘ and all its wise menⓘ. Pharaoh told them his dream — but no one interpreted it for him.

וידבר שר המשקים את פרעה לאמר את חטאי אני מזכיר היום
καὶ ἐλάλησεν ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος πρὸς Φαραω λέγων Τὴν ἁμαρτίαν μου ἀναμιμνῄσκω σήμερον·
Then the chief of the cupbearersⓘ spoke to Pharaoh saying: My faults I call to mind today.

פרעה קצף על עבדיו ויתן אתי במשמר בית שר הטבחים אתי ואת שר האפים
Φαραω ὠργίσθη τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθετο ἡμᾶς ἐν φυλακῇ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ ἀρχιμαγείρου, ἐμέ τε καὶ τὸν ἀρχισιτοποιόν.
Pharaoh had been angry with his servants and had put us in custodyⓘ in the house of the chief of the tabbakimⓘ, me and the chief of the bakers.

ונחלמה חלום בלילה אחד אני והוא איש כפתרון חלמו חלמנו
καὶ εἴδομεν ἐνύπνιον ἐν νυκτὶ μιᾷ, ἐγώ τε καὶ αὐτός, ἕκαστος κατὰ τὸ αὑτοῦ ἐνύπνιον εἴδομεν.
We each had a dream on the same nightⓘ, he and I — each according to the key of his own dreamⓘ we dreamed.

ושם אתנו נער עברי עבד לשר הטבחים ונספר לו ויפתר לנו את חלמתינו איש כחלמו פתר
ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ μεθ’ ἡμῶν νεανίσκος παῖς Εβραῖος τοῦ ἀρχιμαγείρου, καὶ διηγησάμεθα αὐτῷ, καὶ συνέκρινεν ἡμῖν.
There with us was a young Hebrew manⓘ, servant of the chief of the guards; we told it to him and he interpretedⓘ the dreams for us — each according to his dream he interpreted.

ויהי כאשר פתר לנו כן היה אתי השיב על כני ואתו תלה
ἐγενήθη δὲ καθὼς συνέκρινεν ἡμῖν, οὕτως καὶ συνέβη, ἐμέ τε ἀποκατασταθῆναι ἐπὶ τὴν ἀρχήν μου, ἐκεῖνον δὲ κρεμασθῆναι.
And it came to pass that as he had interpreted to us, so it happened: I was restored to my pedestalⓘ, and he was hanged.

וישלח פרעה ויקרא את יוסף ויריצהו מן הבור ויגלח ויחלף שמלתיו ויבא אל פרעה
Ἀποστείλας δὲ Φαραω ἐκάλεσεν τὸν Ιωσηφ, καὶ ἐξήγαγον αὐτὸν ἐκ τοῦ ὀχυρώματος καὶ ἐξύρησαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἤλλαξαν τὴν στολὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς Φαραω.
Pharaoh sent and called Yosèf; they brought him out in hasteⓘ from the pitⓘ. He shavedⓘ, changed his garments and presented himself to Pharaoh.

ויאמר פרעה אל יוסף חלום חלמתי ופתר אין אתו ואני שמעתי עליך לאמר תשמע חלום לפתר אתו
εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσηφ Ἐνύπνιον ἑώρακα, καὶ ὁ συγκρίνων οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτό· ἐγὼ δὲ ἀκήκοα περὶ σοῦ λεγόντων ἀκούσαντά σε ἐνύπνια συγκρῖναι αὐτά.
Pharaoh said to Yosèf: I have dreamed a dream and there is none to interpret itⓘ; of you I have heard it said that you can hear a dream to interpret itⓘ.

ויען יוסף את פרעה לאמר בלעדי אלהים יענה את שלום פרעה
ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ιωσηφ τῷ Φαραω εἶπεν Ἄνευ τοῦ θεοῦ οὐκ ἀποκριθήσεται τὸ σωτήριον Φαραω.
Yosèf answered Pharaoh: Bil'adàyⓘ — God (Elohìm) will answer the peace of Pharaohⓘ.

וידבר פרעה אל יוסף בחלמי הנני עמד על שפת היאר
ἐλάλησεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσηφ λέγων Ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ μου ᾤμην ἑστάναι παρὰ τὸ χεῖλος τοῦ ποταμοῦ,
Pharaoh said to Yosèf: In my dream I was standing on the bank of the river.
18
והנה מן היאר עלת שבע פרות בריאות בשר ויפת תאר ותרעינה באחו
καὶ ὥσπερ ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ ἀνέβαινον ἑπτὰ βόες καλαὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ ἐκλεκταὶ ταῖς σαρξὶν καὶ ἐνέμοντο ἐν τῷ ἄχει·
And behold, out of the river came up seven cows fat of flesh and fair of formⓘ, grazing in the reed-thicket.
19
והנה שבע פרות אחרות עלות אחריהן דלות ורעות תאר מאד ורקות בשר לא ראיתי כהנה בכל ארץ מצרים לרע
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἑπτὰ βόες ἕτεραι ἀνέβαινον ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ πονηραὶ καὶ αἰσχραὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ λεπταὶ ταῖς σαρξίν, οἵας οὐκ εἶδον τοιαύτας ἐν ὅλῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ αἰσχροτέρας·
And behold, seven other cows came up after them, wretchedⓘ and very ugly of formⓘ and scant of flesh — I had not seen such as these in all the land of Egypt for uglinessⓘ.

ותאכלנה הפרות הרקות והרעות את שבע הפרות הראשנות הבריאת
καὶ κατέφαγον αἱ ἑπτὰ βόες αἱ αἰσχραὶ καὶ λεπταὶ τὰς ἑπτὰ βόας τὰς πρώτας τὰς καλὰς καὶ ἐκλεκτάς,
The cows scant and uglyⓘdevoured the first seven fat cows.

ותבאנה אל קרבנה ולא נודע כי באו אל קרבנה ומראיהן רע כאשר בתחלה ואיקץ
καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὰς κοιλίας αὐτῶν καὶ οὐ διάδηλοι ἐγένοντο ὅτι εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὰς κοιλίας αὐτῶν, καὶ αἱ ὄψεις αὐτῶν αἰσχραὶ καθὰ καὶ τὴν ἀρχήν. ἐξεγερθεὶς δὲ ἐκοιμήθην
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——They entered into their bellyⓘ, and it did not become manifestⓘthat they had entered into their belly, and their appearance was ugly as at the beginning (kathà kaì tḕn archḗn). And having awoken, I fell asleep againⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——They entered into their bellyⓘ and it was not recognizedⓘ that they had entered into them — their appearance was ugly as at the beginning (bethekhillàh). And I awoke.

וארא בחלמי והנה שבע שבלים עלת בקנה אחד מלאת וטבות
καὶ εἶδον πάλιν ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ μου, καὶ ὥσπερ ἑπτὰ στάχυες ἀνέβαινον ἐν πυθμένι ἑνὶ πλήρεις καὶ καλοί·
I saw again in my dream: and behold, seven ears came up on a single stalk, full and fairⓘ.
23
והנה שבע שבלים צנמות דקות שדפות קדים צמחות אחריהם
ἄλλοι δὲ ἑπτὰ στάχυες λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι ἀνεφύοντο ἐχόμενοι αὐτῶν·
And behold, seven ears shriveledⓘ, lean, scorched by the east windⓘ, sprouted after them.
24
ותבלען השבלים הדקת את שבע השבלים הטבות ואמר אל החרטמים ואין מגיד לי
καὶ κατέπιον οἱ ἑπτὰ στάχυες οἱ λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι τοὺς ἑπτὰ στάχυας τοὺς καλοὺς καὶ τοὺς πλήρεις. εἶπα οὖν τοῖς ἐξηγηταῖς, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἀπαγγέλλων μοι.
The lean ears swallowed the seven ears fairⓘ. I told it to the khartummìmⓘ — but no one explained it to me.

ויאמר יוסף אל פרעה חלום פרעה אחד הוא את אשר האלהים עשה הגיד לפרעה
Καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσηφ τῷ Φαραω Τὸ ἐνύπνιον Φαραω ἕν ἐστιν· ὅσα ὁ θεὸς ποιεῖ, ἔδειξεν τῷ Φαραω.
Yosèf said to Pharaoh: Pharaoh's dream is one — what ha-Elohìmⓘ is about to do he has revealed to Pharaoh.
26
שבע פרת הטבת שבע שנים הנה ושבע השבלים הטבת שבע שנים הנה חלום אחד הוא
αἱ ἑπτὰ βόες αἱ καλαὶ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐστίν, καὶ οἱ ἑπτὰ στάχυες οἱ καλοὶ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐστίν· τὸ ἐνύπνιον Φαραω ἕν ἐστιν.
The seven fair cows — they are seven years; the seven fair ears — they are seven years: it is a single dreamⓘ.
27
ושבע הפרות הרקות והרעת העלת אחריהן שבע שנים הנה ושבע השבלים הרקות שדפות הקדים יהיו שבע שני רעב
καὶ αἱ ἑπτὰ βόες αἱ λεπταὶ αἱ ἀναβαίνουσαι ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐστίν, καὶ οἱ ἑπτὰ στάχυες οἱ λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι ἔσονται ἑπτὰ ἔτη λιμοῦ.
The seven scant and ugly cows that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears scorched by the east windⓘ will be seven years of famine.
28
הוא הדבר אשר דברתי אל פרעה אשר האלהים עשה הראה את פרעה
τὸ δὲ ῥῆμα, ὃ εἴρηκα Φαραω Ὅσα ὁ θεὸς ποιεῖ, ἔδειξεν τῷ Φαραω,
This is the wordⓘ that I have spoken to Pharaoh: what ha-Elohìm is about to do he has shown to Pharaoh.
29
הנה שבע שנים באות שבע גדול בכל ארץ מצרים
ἰδοὺ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἔρχεται εὐθηνία πολλὴ ἐν πάσῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ·
Behold, there come seven yearsⓘ of great abundanceⓘ in all the land of Egypt.
30
וקמו שבע שני רעב אחריהן ונשכח כל השבע בארץ מצרים וכלה הרעב את הארץ
ἥξει δὲ ἑπτὰ ἔτη λιμοῦ μετὰ ταῦτα, καὶ ἐπιλήσονται τῆς πλησμονῆς ἐν ὅλῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, καὶ ἀναλώσει ὁ λιμὸς τὴν γῆν,
After them seven years of famine will ariseⓘ and all the abundance will be forgottenⓘ in the land of Egypt — the famine will devour the land.
31
ולא יודע השבע בארץ מפני הרעב ההוא אחרי כן כי כבד הוא מאד
καὶ οὐκ ἐπιγνωσθήσεται ἡ εὐθηνία ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀπὸ τοῦ λιμοῦ τοῦ ἐσομένου μετὰ ταῦτα· ἰσχυρὸς γὰρ ἔσται σφόδρα.
The abundance will not be knownⓘ in the land because of that subsequentⓘ famine, because it is very grievousⓘ.
32
ועל השנות החלום אל פרעה פעמים כי נכון הדבר מעם האלהים וממהר האלהים לעשתו
περὶ δὲ τοῦ δευτερῶσαι τὸ ἐνύπνιον Φαραω δίς, ὅτι ἀληθὲς ἔσται τὸ ῥῆμα τὸ παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ ταχυνεῖ ὁ θεὸς τοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτό.
As for the repeating of the dreamⓘ to Pharaoh twice: the matter is establishedⓘ by ha-Elohìm, and ha-Elohìm hastens to bring it to pass.
33
ועתה ירא פרעה איש נבון וחכם וישיתהו על ארץ מצרים
νῦν οὖν σκέψαι ἄνθρωπον φρόνιμον καὶ συνετὸν καὶ κατάστησον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ γῆς Αἰγύπτου·
Now therefore let Pharaoh seek a man discerning and wiseⓘ and set him over the land of Egypt.
34
יעשה פרעה ויפקד פקדים על הארץ וחמש את ארץ מצרים בשבע שני השבע
καὶ ποιησάτω Φαραω καὶ καταστησάτω τοπάρχας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἀποπεμπτωσάτωσαν πάντα τὰ γενήματα τῆς γῆς Αἰγύπτου τῶν ἑπτὰ ἐτῶν τῆς εὐθηνίας
Let Pharaoh actⓘ and appoint overseersⓘ over the land, and take a fifthⓘ from the land of Egypt during the seven years of abundance.
35
ויקבצו את כל אכל השנים הטבת הבאת האלה ויצברו בר תחת יד פרעה אכל בערים ושמרו
καὶ συναγαγέτωσαν πάντα τὰ βρώματα τῶν ἑπτὰ ἐτῶν τῶν ἐρχομένων τῶν καλῶν τούτων, καὶ συναχθήτω ὁ σῖτος ὑπὸ χεῖρα Φαραω, βρώματα ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν φυλαχθήτω·
Let them gather all the food of these good years and heap up grainⓘ under the authority of Pharaohⓘ, food in the cities, and let them keep it.
36
והיה האכל לפקדון לארץ לשבע שני הרעב אשר תהיין בארץ מצרים ולא תכרת הארץ ברעב
καὶ ἔσται τὰ βρώματα πεφυλαγμένα τῇ γῇ εἰς τὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη τοῦ λιμοῦ, ἃ ἔσονται ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, καὶ οὐκ ἐκτριβήσεται ἡ γῆ ἐν τῷ λιμῷ.
That food shall be in reserveⓘ for the land, for the seven years of famine that will be in the land of Egypt, so that the land may not perishⓘ by the famine.
37
וייטב הדבר בעיני פרעה ובעיני כל עבדיו
Ἤρεσεν δὲ τὰ ῥήματα ἐναντίον Φαραω καὶ ἐναντίον πάντων τῶν παίδων αὐτοῦ,
The matter was pleasingⓘ in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.
38
ויאמר פרעה אל עבדיו הנמצא כזה איש אשר רוח אלהים בו
καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω πᾶσιν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ Μὴ εὑρήσομεν ἄνθρωπον τοιοῦτον, ὃς ἔχει πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ;
Pharaoh said to his servants: Shall we find perhaps a man like thisⓘ in whom is the ruakh of Elohìmⓘ?
39
ויאמר פרעה אל יוסף אחרי הודיע אלהים אותך את כל זאת אין נבון וחכם כמוך
εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσηφ Ἐπειδὴ ἔδειξεν ὁ θεός σοι πάντα ταῦτα, οὐκ ἔστιν ἄνθρωπος φρονιμώτερος καὶ συνετώτερός σου·
Pharaoh said to Yosèf: Since Elohìm has made known to youⓘ all this, there is none discerning and wise like youⓘ.
40
אתה תהיה על ביתי ועל פיך ישק כל עמי רק הכסא אגדל ממך
σὺ ἔσῃ ἐπὶ τῷ οἴκῳ μου, καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ στόματί σου ὑπακούσεται πᾶς ὁ λαός μου· πλὴν τὸν θρόνον ὑπερέξω σου ἐγώ.
You shall be over my house and according to your mouthⓘ all my people shall be orderedⓘ — only in the throne will I be greater than you.
41
ויאמר פרעה אל יוסף ראה נתתי אתך על כל ארץ מצרים
εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσηφ Ἰδοὺ καθίστημί σε σήμερον ἐπὶ πάσης γῆς Αἰγύπτου.
Pharaoh said to Yosèf: See — I have set youⓘ over all the land of Egyptⓘ.
42
ויסר פרעה את טבעתו מעל ידו ויתן אתה על יד יוסף וילבש אתו בגדי שש וישם רבד הזהב על צוארו
καὶ περιελόμενος Φαραω τὸν δακτύλιον ἀπὸ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ περιέθηκεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν χεῖρα Ιωσηφ καὶ ἐνέδυσεν αὐτὸν στολὴν βυσσίνην καὶ περιέθηκεν κλοιὸν χρυσοῦν περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ·
Pharaoh took off the ringⓘ from his hand and put it on the hand of Yosèf; he clothed him in garments of shèshⓘ and placed around his neck the gold collarⓘ.
43
וירכב אתו במרכבת המשנה אשר לו ויקראו לפניו אברך ונתון אתו על כל ארץ מצרים
καὶ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ ἅρμα τὸ δεύτερον τῶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐκήρυξεν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ κῆρυξ· καὶ κατέστησεν αὐτὸν ἐφ’ ὅλης γῆς Αἰγύπτου.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And he had him ride on his second chariotⓘ, and before him a herald proclaimedⓘ; and he set himⓘ over all the land of Egypt.—— Masoretic (MT) ——He had him ride on his second chariotⓘ and they cried before him: Avrèkh!ⓘ — and he set him over all the land of Egypt.

ויאמר פרעה אל יוסף אני פרעה ובלעדיך לא ירים איש את ידו ואת רגלו בכל ארץ מצרים
εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσηφ Ἐγὼ Φαραω· ἄνευ σοῦ οὐκ ἐξαρεῖ οὐθεὶς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πάσῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτου.
Pharaoh said to Yosèf: I am Pharaoh — and without you no one shall lift hand or footⓘ in all the land of Egypt.
45
ויקרא פרעה שם יוסף צפנת פענח ויתן לו את אסנת בת פוטי פרע כהן אן לאשה ויצא יוסף על ארץ מצרים
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Φαραω τὸ ὄνομα Ιωσηφ Ψονθομφανηχ· καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ τὴν Ασεννεθ θυγατέρα Πετεφρη ἱερέως Ἡλίου πόλεως αὐτῷ γυναῖκα.
Pharaoh called Yosèf by the name Tzafnat-Panèakhⓘ and gave him as wife Asnat daughter of Potì-Feraⓘ priest of Onⓘ. Yosèf went out over the land of Egypt.

ויוסף בן שלשים שנה בעמדו לפני פרעה מלך מצרים ויצא יוסף מלפני פרעה ויעבר בכל ארץ מצרים
Ιωσηφ δὲ ἦν ἐτῶν τριάκοντα, ὅτε ἔστη ἐναντίον Φαραω βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου. Ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Ιωσηφ ἐκ προσώπου Φαραω καὶ διῆλθεν πᾶσαν γῆν Αἰγύπτου.
Yosèf was thirty years oldⓘ when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Yosèf went out from the presence of Pharaoh and traveled through all the land of Egyptⓘ.

ותעש הארץ בשבע שני השבע לקמצים
καὶ ἐποίησεν ἡ γῆ ἐν τοῖς ἑπτὰ ἔτεσιν τῆς εὐθηνίας δράγματα·
The land produced during the seven years of abundance by handfulsⓘ.
48
ויקבץ את כל אכל שבע שנים אשר היו בארץ מצרים ויתן אכל בערים אכל שדה העיר אשר סביבתיה נתן בתוכה
καὶ συνήγαγεν πάντα τὰ βρώματα τῶν ἑπτὰ ἐτῶν, ἐν οἷς ἦν ἡ εὐθηνία ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ἔθηκεν τὰ βρώματα ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν, βρώματα τῶν πεδίων τῆς πόλεως τῶν κύκλῳ αὐτῆς ἔθηκεν ἐν αὐτῇ.
He gatheredⓘ all the food of the seven years that there was in the land of Egypt and stored the food in the citiesⓘ — the food of the fields of the surrounding city he stored within itⓘ.

ויצבר יוסף בר כחול הים הרבה מאד עד כי חדל לספר כי אין מספר
καὶ συνήγαγεν Ιωσηφ σῖτον ὡσεὶ τὴν ἄμμον τῆς θαλάσσης πολὺν σφόδρα, ἕως οὐκ ἠδύναντο ἀριθμῆσαι, οὐ γὰρ ἦν ἀριθμός.
Yosèf heaped up grain like the sand of the seaⓘ — very much, until he ceased to count itⓘ because there was no number.

וליוסף ילד שני בנים בטרם תבוא שנת הרעב אשר ילדה לו אסנת בת פוטי פרע כהן און
Τῷ δὲ Ιωσηφ ἐγένοντο υἱοὶ δύο πρὸ τοῦ ἐλθεῖν τὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη τοῦ λιμοῦ, οὓς ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ Ασεννεθ θυγάτηρ Πετεφρη ἱερέως Ἡλίου πόλεως.
To Yosèf two sons were bornⓘ before the year of famine came — whom Asnat daughter of Potì-Fera priest of On bore to him.

ויקרא יוסף את שם הבכור מנשה כי נשני אלהים את כל עמלי ואת כל בית אבי
ἐκάλεσεν δὲ Ιωσηφ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ πρωτοτόκου Μανασση, ὅτι Ἐπιλαθέσθαι με ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς πάντων τῶν πόνων μου καὶ πάντων τῶν τοῦ πατρός μου.
Yosèf called the name of the firstborn Menashèhⓘ — **«because Godⓘ has made me forget all my toil and all my father's house»**.

ואת שם השני קרא אפרים כי הפרני אלהים בארץ עניי
τὸ δὲ ὄνομα τοῦ δευτέρου ἐκάλεσεν Εφραιμ, ὅτι Ηὔξησέν με ὁ θεὸς ἐν γῇ ταπεινώσεώς μου.
The name of the second he called Efràyimⓘ — **«because Godⓘ has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction»** (be'èretz onyyì).

ותכלינה שבע שני השבע אשר היה בארץ מצרים
Παρῆλθον δὲ τὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη τῆς εὐθηνίας, ἃ ἐγένοντο ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ,
The seven years of abundance that there was in the land of Egypt came to an endⓘ.

ותחלינה שבע שני הרעב לבוא כאשר אמר יוסף ויהי רעב בכל הארצות ובכל ארץ מצרים היה לחם
καὶ ἤρξαντο τὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη τοῦ λιμοῦ ἔρχεσθαι, καθὰ εἶπεν Ιωσηφ. καὶ ἐγένετο λιμὸς ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ, ἐν δὲ πάσῃ γῇ Αἰγύπτου ἦσαν ἄρτοι.
The seven years of famine began to comeⓘ, as Yosèf had said. There was famine in all the landsⓘ — but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

ותרעב כל ארץ מצרים ויצעק העם אל פרעה ללחם ויאמר פרעה לכל מצרים לכו אל יוסף אשר יאמר לכם תעשו
καὶ ἐπείνασεν πᾶσα ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου, ἐκέκραξεν δὲ ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Φαραω περὶ ἄρτων· εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω πᾶσι τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις Πορεύεσθε πρὸς Ιωσηφ, καὶ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὑμῖν, ποιήσατε.
All the land of Egypt was famished and the people cried outⓘ to Pharaoh for breadⓘ. Pharaoh said to all Egypt: Go to Yosèf; what he says to you, do.

והרעב היה על כל פני הארץ ויפתח יוסף את כל אשר בהם וישבר למצרים ויחזק הרעב בארץ מצרים
καὶ ὁ λιμὸς ἦν ἐπὶ προσώπου πάσης τῆς γῆς· ἀνέῳξεν δὲ Ιωσηφ πάντας τοὺς σιτοβολῶνας καὶ ἐπώλει πᾶσι τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις.
The famine spread over all the face of the earthⓘ; Yosèf opened all that was in themⓘ and sold grainⓘ to the Egyptians. The famine grew strongⓘ in the land of Egypt.
57
וכל הארץ באו מצרימה לשבר אל יוסף כי חזק הרעב בכל הארץ
καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ χῶραι ἦλθον εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἀγοράζειν πρὸς Ιωσηφ· ἐπεκράτησεν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ.
All the earth came to Egypt to Yosèf to buy grainⓘ, because the famine was strong in all the earthⓘ.
