ויפל יוסף על פני אביו ויבך עליו וישק לו
Καὶ ἐπιπεσὼν Ιωσηφ ἐπὶ τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἔκλαυσεν ἐπ’ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐφίλησεν αὐτόν.
And Joseph fell upon the ⓘ of his father, wept over him and kissed him.

ויצו יוסף את עבדיו את הרפאים לחנט את אביו ויחנטו הרפאים את ישראל
καὶ προσέταξεν Ιωσηφ τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ τοῖς ἐνταφιασταῖς ἐνταφιάσαι τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐνεταφίασαν οἱ ἐνταφιασταὶ τὸν Ισραηλ.
And Joseph commanded his ⓘ, to embalm his father; and the rofʾìm ⓘ Israel.

וימלאו לו ארבעים יום כי כן ימלאו ימי החנטים ויבכו אתו מצרים שבעים יום
καὶ ἐπλήρωσαν αὐτοῦ τεσσαράκοντα ἡμέρας· οὕτως γὰρ καταριθμοῦνται αἱ ἡμέραι τῆς ταφῆς. καὶ ἐπένθησεν αὐτὸν Αἴγυπτος ἑβδομήκοντα ἡμέρας.
And there were fulfilled for him ⓘ — such is the time fulfilled for ⓘ —, and the Egyptians wept over him ⓘ.

ויעברו ימי בכיתו וידבר יוסף אל בית פרעה לאמר אם נא מצאתי חן בעיניכם דברו נא באזני פרעה לאמר
Ἐπειδὴ δὲ παρῆλθον αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πένθους, ἐλάλησεν Ιωσηφ πρὸς τοὺς δυνάστας Φαραω λέγων Εἰ εὗρον χάριν ἐναντίον ὑμῶν, λαλήσατε περὶ ἐμοῦ εἰς τὰ ὦτα Φαραω λέγοντες
And when the days of ⓘ had passed, Joseph spoke to the ⓘ saying: «If I have found favour in your eyes, speak in the ears of Pharaoh:

אבי השביעני לאמר הנה אנכי מת בקברי אשר כריתי לי בארץ כנען שמה תקברני ועתה אעלה נא ואקברה את אבי ואשובה
Ὁ πατήρ μου ὥρκισέν με λέγων Ἐν τῷ μνημείῳ, ᾧ ὤρυξα ἐμαυτῷ ἐν γῇ Χανααν, ἐκεῖ με θάψεις· νῦν οὖν ἀναβὰς θάψω τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἐπανελεύσομαι.
My father ⓘ saying: ⓘ; in my ⓘ which I dug for myself in the land of Kenàʿan, there shall you bury me; and now I pray you, let me go up and bury my father, and I will return».

ויאמר פרעה עלה וקבר את אביך כאשר השביעך
καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω Ἀνάβηθι, θάψον τὸν πατέρα σου, καθάπερ ὥρκισέν σε.
And Pharaoh said: «Go up and ⓘ as he made you swear».
7
ויעל יוסף לקבר את אביו ויעלו אתו כל עבדי פרעה זקני ביתו וכל זקני ארץ מצרים
καὶ ἀνέβη Ιωσηφ θάψαι τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ, καὶ συνανέβησαν μετ’ αὐτοῦ πάντες οἱ παῖδες Φαραω καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τῆς γῆς Αἰγύπτου
And Joseph went up to bury his father, and there went up with him all the ⓘ, the elders of his house and all the elders of the land of Mitzràyim;

וכל בית יוסף ואחיו ובית אביו רק טפם וצאנם ובקרם עזבו בארץ גשן
καὶ πᾶσα ἡ πανοικία Ιωσηφ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ οἰκία ἡ πατρικὴ αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὴν συγγένειαν καὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς βόας ὑπελίποντο ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——and all the house of Joseph, his brothers and all the house of his father; ⓘ, the sheep and the oxen they left in the land of Gèsem.—— Masoretic (MT) ——and all the house of Joseph, his brothers and the house of his father; only their little ones, the flocks and the herds they left in the land of Gòshen; ⓘ.

ויעל עמו גם רכב גם פרשים ויהי המחנה כבד מאד
καὶ συνανέβησαν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἅρματα καὶ ἱππεῖς, καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ παρεμβολὴ μεγάλη σφόδρα.
And there went up with him also chariot and ⓘ: a caravan ⓘ.

ויבאו עד גרן האטד אשר בעבר הירדן ויספדו שם מספד גדול וכבד מאד ויעש לאביו אבל שבעת ימים
καὶ παρεγένοντο ἐφ’ ἅλωνα Αταδ, ὅ ἐστιν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου, καὶ ἐκόψαντο αὐτὸν κοπετὸν μέγαν καὶ ἰσχυρὸν σφόδρα· καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πένθος τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας.
And they came to the ⓘ, which is beyond the ⓘ, and there they made a ⓘ great and exceedingly grievous; and Joseph held for his father a mourning of seven full days.

וירא יושב הארץ הכנעני את האבל בגרן האטד ויאמרו אבל כבד זה למצרים על כן קרא שמה אבל מצרים אשר בעבר הירדן
καὶ εἶδον οἱ κάτοικοι τῆς γῆς Χανααν τὸ πένθος ἐν ἅλωνι Αταδ καὶ εἶπαν Πένθος μέγα τοῦτό ἐστιν τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις· διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Πένθος Αἰγύπτου, ὅ ἐστιν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου.
And the Kenaʿanìta, the inhabitant of that land, saw the mourning at the threshing-floor of Atàd and said: «A grievous and solemn mourning is this for Mitzràyim»; therefore he called the name of that place ⓘ, the mourning of Egypt, which is beyond the Yardèn.

ויעשו בניו לו כן כאשר צום
καὶ ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And his sons did for him thus ⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And his sons did for him just as he had commanded them, ⓘ.

וישאו אתו בניו ארצה כנען ויקברו אתו במערת שדה המכפלה אשר קנה אברהם את השדה לאחזת קבר מאת עפרן החתי על פני ממרא
καὶ ἀνέλαβον αὐτὸν οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς γῆν Χανααν καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ διπλοῦν, ὃ ἐκτήσατο Αβρααμ τὸ σπήλαιον ἐν κτήσει μνημείου παρὰ Εφρων τοῦ Χετταίου κατέναντι Μαμβρη.
And his sons carried him to the land of Kenàʿan and buried him in the ⓘ, which Avrahàm had bought ⓘ from ʿEfròn the Hittite, opposite Mamrè.

וישב יוסף מצרימה הוא ואחיו וכל העלים אתו לקבר את אביו אחרי קברו את אביו
καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Ιωσηφ εἰς Αἴγυπτον, αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ συναναβάντες θάψαι τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Joseph returned to Egypt, he and his brothers and all those who had gone up with him to ⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Joseph returned to Mitzràyim, he and his brothers and all those who had gone up with him to bury his father, ⓘ.

ויראו אחי יוסף כי מת אביהם ויאמרו לו ישטמנו יוסף והשב ישיב לנו את כל הרעה אשר גמלנו אתו
Ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Ιωσηφ ὅτι τέθνηκεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῶν, εἶπαν Μήποτε μνησικακήσῃ ἡμῖν Ιωσηφ καὶ ἀνταπόδομα ἀνταποδῷ ἡμῖν πάντα τὰ κακά, ἃ ἐνεδειξάμεθα αὐτῷ.
And the brothers of Joseph saw that their father was dead, and said: «What if now Joseph ⓘ and will repay us in full all the evil that we did to him?».

ויצוו אל יוסף לאמר אביך צוה לפני מותו לאמר
καὶ παρεγένοντο πρὸς Ιωσηφ λέγοντες Ὁ πατήρ σου ὥρκισεν πρὸ τοῦ τελευτῆσαι αὐτὸν λέγων
And ⓘ: «Your father commanded before he died:
17
כה תאמרו ליוסף אנא שא נא פשע אחיך וחטאתם כי רעה גמלוך ועתה שא נא לפשע עבדי אלהי אביך ויבך יוסף בדברם אליו
Οὕτως εἴπατε Ιωσηφ Ἄφες αὐτοῖς τὴν ἀδικίαν καὶ τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτῶν, ὅτι πονηρά σοι ἐνεδείξαντο· καὶ νῦν δέξαι τὴν ἀδικίαν τῶν θεραπόντων τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ πατρός σου. καὶ ἔκλαυσεν Ιωσηφ λαλούντων αὐτῶν πρὸς αὐτόν.
Thus shall you say to Joseph: Forgive, I pray, the ⓘ and the sin ⓘ, for in truth they did you evil; and now we pray you, forgive the offence of the servants of the ⓘ of your father». And ⓘ while they were speaking thus to him.

וילכו גם אחיו ויפלו לפניו ויאמרו הננו לך לעבדים
καὶ ἐλθόντες πρὸς αὐτὸν εἶπαν Οἵδε ἡμεῖς σοι οἰκέται.
And his brothers also went in person, prostrated themselves before him and said: «Here we are, we are your servants».

ויאמר אלהם יוסף אל תיראו כי התחת אלהים אני
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ Μὴ φοβεῖσθε· τοῦ γὰρ θεοῦ εἰμι ἐγώ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Joseph said to them: «Fear not: ⓘ».—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Joseph said to them: «Fear not: ⓘ

ואתם חשבתם עלי רעה אלהים חשבה לטבה למען עשה כיום הזה להחית עם רב
ὑμεῖς ἐβουλεύσασθε κατ’ ἐμοῦ εἰς πονηρά, ὁ δὲ θεὸς ἐβουλεύσατο περὶ ἐμοῦ εἰς ἀγαθά, ὅπως ἂν γενηθῇ ὡς σήμερον, ἵνα διατραφῇ λαὸς πολύς.
ⓘ; ⓘ, in order to do as this day shows: to keep alive a numerous people.

ועתה אל תיראו אנכי אכלכל אתכם ואת טפכם וינחם אותם וידבר על לבם
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Μὴ φοβεῖσθε· ἐγὼ διαθρέψω ὑμᾶς καὶ τὰς οἰκίας ὑμῶν. καὶ παρεκάλεσεν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῶν εἰς τὴν καρδίαν.
And now fear not: I myself will provide for you and for your little ones». ⓘ And he comforted them ⓘ.

וישב יוסף במצרים הוא ובית אביו ויחי יוסף מאה ועשר שנים
Καὶ κατῴκησεν Ιωσηφ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ, αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ πανοικία τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἔζησεν Ιωσηφ ἔτη ἑκατὸν δέκα.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he ⓘ and all the house of his father. And Joseph lived ⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Joseph dwelt in Mitzràyim, he ⓘ and all the house of his father; and Joseph lived ⓘ.

וירא יוסף לאפרים בני שלשים גם בני מכיר בן מנשה ילדו על ברכי יוסף
καὶ εἶδεν Ιωσηφ Εφραιμ παιδία ἕως τρίτης γενεᾶς, καὶ υἱοὶ Μαχιρ τοῦ υἱοῦ Μανασση ἐτέχθησαν ἐπὶ μηρῶν Ιωσηφ.
And Joseph saw of Efràim the children ⓘ; the children of Makhìr son of Menasshè too were born ⓘ.

ויאמר יוסף אל אחיו אנכי מת ואלהים פקד יפקד אתכם והעלה אתכם מן הארץ הזאת אל הארץ אשר נשבע לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב
καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσηφ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ λέγων Ἐγὼ ἀποθνῄσκω· ἐπισκοπῇ δὲ ἐπισκέψεται ὑμᾶς ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἀνάξει ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῆς γῆς ταύτης εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ὤμοσεν ὁ θεὸς τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ καὶ Ιακωβ.
And Joseph said to his brothers: «I am dying; but ⓘ and will bring you up from this land to the land that he swore ⓘ».

וישבע יוסף את בני ישראל לאמר פקד יפקד אלהים אתכם והעלתם את עצמתי מזה
καὶ ὥρκισεν Ιωσηφ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ λέγων Ἐν τῇ ἐπισκοπῇ, ᾗ ἐπισκέψεται ὑμᾶς ὁ θεός, καὶ συνανοίσετε τὰ ὀστᾶ μου ἐντεῦθεν μεθ’ ὑμῶν.
And Joseph made the children of Israel swear saying: ⓘ, ⓘ, and you shall bring up my bones from here ⓘ».

וימת יוסף בן מאה ועשר שנים ויחנטו אתו ויישם בארון במצרים
καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν Ιωσηφ ἐτῶν ἑκατὸν δέκα· καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἔθηκαν ἐν τῇ σορῷ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten years; ⓘ and they laid him in a ⓘ in Egypt.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten years; and they embalmed him ⓘ and they laid him in a ⓘ in Mitzràyim.
