ויסף אברהם ויקח אשה ושמה קטורה
Προσθέμενος δὲ Αβρααμ ἔλαβεν γυναῖκα, ᾗ ὄνομα Χεττουρα.
And Avrahàm took againⓘ a wife, named Qeturàhⓘ.
2
ותלד לו את זמרן ואת יקשן ואת מדן ואת מדין ואת ישבק ואת שוח
ἔτεκεν δὲ αὐτῷ τὸν Ζεμραν καὶ τὸν Ιεξαν καὶ τὸν Μαδαν καὶ τὸν Μαδιαμ καὶ τὸν Ιεσβοκ καὶ τὸν Σωυε.
And she bore him Zimrànⓘ, Yoqshàn, Medàn, Midiàn, Yishbàq and Shùach.

ויקשן ילד את שבא ואת דדן ובני דדן היו אשורם ולטושים ולאמים
Ιεξαν δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαβα καὶ τὸν Θαιμαν καὶ τὸν Δαιδαν· υἱοὶ δὲ Δαιδαν ἐγένοντο Ραγουηλ καὶ Ναβδεηλ καὶ Ασσουριιμ καὶ Λατουσιιμ καὶ Λοωμιμ.

ובני מדין עיפה ועפר וחנך ואבידע ואלדעה כל אלה בני קטורה
υἱοὶ δὲ Μαδιαμ· Γαιφα καὶ Αφερ καὶ Ενωχ καὶ Αβιρα καὶ Ελραγα. πάντες οὗτοι ἦσαν υἱοὶ Χεττουρας.
And the sons of Midiàn: Efàhⓘ, Èfer, Chanòkh, Avidàʿ and Eldaʿàh. All these were sons of Qeturàh.

ויתן אברהם את כל אשר לו ליצחק
Ἔδωκεν δὲ Αβρααμ πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ Ισαακ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ,
And Avrahàm gave all that he had to Yitzchàq his sonⓘ.

ולבני הפילגשים אשר לאברהם נתן אברהם מתנת וישלחם מעל יצחק בנו בעודנו חי קדמה אל ארץ קדם
καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν παλλακῶν αὐτοῦ ἔδωκεν Αβρααμ δόματα καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ Ισαακ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ ἔτι ζῶντος αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς εἰς γῆν ἀνατολῶν.
And to the sons of the concubinesⓘ that belonged to Avrahàm, Avrahàm gave giftsⓘ and sent them away from Yitzchàq his son, while he was still alive, eastward, to the land of the qèdemⓘ.

ואלה ימי שני חיי אברהם אשר חי מאת שנה ושבעים שנה וחמש שנים
Ταῦτα δὲ τὰ ἔτη ἡμερῶν ζωῆς Αβρααμ, ὅσα ἔζησεν· ἑκατὸν ἑβδομήκοντα πέντε ἔτη.
And these are the years of the life of Avrahàm which he lived: one hundred seventy-five yearsⓘ.

ויגוע וימת אברהם בשיבה טובה זקן ושבע ויאסף אל עמיו
καὶ ἐκλιπὼν ἀπέθανεν Αβρααμ ἐν γήρει καλῷ πρεσβύτης καὶ πλήρης ἡμερῶν καὶ προσετέθη πρὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ.
And Avrahàm expiredⓘ and died in good hoary ageⓘ, old and sated with daysⓘ, and was gathered to his peopleⓘ.

ויקברו אתו יצחק וישמעאל בניו אל מערת המכפלה אל שדה עפרן בן צחר החתי אשר על פני ממרא
καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν Ισαακ καὶ Ισμαηλ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ διπλοῦν εἰς τὸν ἀγρὸν Εφρων τοῦ Σααρ τοῦ Χετταίου, ὅ ἐστιν ἀπέναντι Μαμβρη,
And Yitzchàq and Yishmaèl buried himⓘ, his sons, in the cave of Makpelàhⓘ, in the field of Efròn son of Tzoccharⓘ the Hittite, facing Mamre.

השדה אשר קנה אברהם מאת בני חת שמה קבר אברהם ושרה אשתו
τὸν ἀγρὸν καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον, ὃ ἐκτήσατο Αβρααμ παρὰ τῶν υἱῶν Χετ, ἐκεῖ ἔθαψαν Αβρααμ καὶ Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ.
The field that Avrahàm had bought from the sons of Chet — the field and the caveⓘ: there was buried Avrahàm with Saràh his wife.

ויהי אחרי מות אברהם ויברך אלהים את יצחק בנו וישב יצחק עם באר לחי ראי
ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν Αβρααμ εὐλόγησεν ὁ θεὸς Ισαακ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ· καὶ κατῴκησεν Ισαακ παρὰ τὸ φρέαρ τῆς ὁράσεως.
And after the death of Avrahàm, Godⓘ blessed Yitzchàq his son; and Yitzchàq dwelt by Beʾèr-Lachài-Roìⓘ.

ואלה תלדת ישמעאל בן אברהם אשר ילדה הגר המצרית שפחת שרה לאברהם
Αὗται δὲ αἱ γενέσεις Ισμαηλ τοῦ υἱοῦ Αβρααμ, ὃν ἔτεκεν Αγαρ ἡ παιδίσκη Σαρρας τῷ Αβρααμ,
And these are the toledòtⓘ of Yishmaèl, son of Avrahàm, whom Hagàr the Egyptian, handmaid of Saràhⓘ, bore him.

ואלה שמות בני ישמעאל בשמתם לתולדתם בכר ישמעאל נבית וקדר ואדבאל ומבשם
καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν υἱῶν Ισμαηλ κατ’ ὄνομα τῶν γενεῶν αὐτοῦ· πρωτότοκος Ισμαηλ Ναβαιωθ καὶ Κηδαρ καὶ Ναβδεηλ καὶ Μασσαμ
And these are the names of the sons of Yishmaèl according to their generations: the firstbornⓘ of Yishmaèl, Nevayòtⓘ, and Qedàr, and Adbeèlⓘ, and Mivsàm,

ומשמע ודומה ומשא
καὶ Μασμα καὶ Ιδουμα καὶ Μασση
and Mishmàʿ, and Dumàhⓘ, and Massà,
15
חדד ותימא יטור נפיש וקדמה
καὶ Χοδδαδ καὶ Θαιμαν καὶ Ιετουρ καὶ Ναφες καὶ Κεδμα.
and Chadàdⓘ, and Temà, and Yetùr, and Nafìsh and Qèdmahⓘ.

אלה הם בני ישמעאל ואלה שמתם בחצריהם ובטירתם שנים עשר נשיאם לאמתם
οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισμαηλ καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα αὐτῶν ἐν ταῖς σκηναῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἐπαύλεσιν αὐτῶν· δώδεκα ἄρχοντες κατὰ ἔθνη αὐτῶν.
These are the sons of Yishmaèl and these their names in their villages and encampmentsⓘ: twelve nesiìmⓘ according to their tribes.

ואלה שני חיי ישמעאל מאת שנה ושלשים שנה ושבע שנים ויגוע וימת ויאסף אל עמיו
καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ἔτη τῆς ζωῆς Ισμαηλ· ἑκατὸν τριάκοντα ἑπτὰ ἔτη· καὶ ἐκλιπὼν ἀπέθανεν καὶ προσετέθη πρὸς τὸ γένος αὐτοῦ.
And these are the years of the life of Yishmaèl: one hundred thirty-seven yearsⓘ; and he expired and died and was gathered to his peopleⓘ.

וישכנו מחוילה עד שור אשר על פני מצרים באכה אשורה על פני כל אחיו נפל
κατῴκησεν δὲ ἀπὸ Ευιλατ ἕως Σουρ, ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Αἰγύπτου, ἕως ἐλθεῖν πρὸς Ἀσσυρίους· κατὰ πρόσωπον πάντων τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ κατῴκησεν.
And they dweltⓘ from Chavilàhⓘ as far as Shurⓘ, facing Egypt, in the direction of Assyria; before all his brothers he settledⓘ.

ואלה תולדת יצחק בן אברהם אברהם הוליד את יצחק
Καὶ αὗται αἱ γενέσεις Ισαακ τοῦ υἱοῦ Αβρααμ· Αβρααμ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ισαακ.
And these are the toledòt of Yitzchàq, son of Avrahàm begot Yitzchàqⓘ.

ויהי יצחק בן ארבעים שנה בקחתו את רבקה בת בתואל הארמי מפדן ארם אחות לבן הארמי לו לאשה
ἦν δὲ Ισαακ ἐτῶν τεσσαράκοντα, ὅτε ἔλαβεν τὴν Ρεβεκκαν θυγατέρα Βαθουηλ τοῦ Σύρου ἐκ τῆς Μεσοποταμίας ἀδελφὴν Λαβαν τοῦ Σύρου ἑαυτῷ γυναῖκα.
And Yitzchàq was forty years old when he took to wife Rivqàh, daughter of Betuèl the Arameanⓘ of Paddàn-Aràmⓘ, sister of Lavàn the Aramean.

ויעתר יצחק ליהוה לנכח אשתו כי עקרה הוא ויעתר לו יהוה ותהר רבקה אשתו
ἐδεῖτο δὲ Ισαακ κυρίου περὶ Ρεβεκκας τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ, ὅτι στεῖρα ἦν· ἐπήκουσεν δὲ αὐτοῦ ὁ θεός, καὶ ἔλαβεν ἐν γαστρὶ Ρεβεκκα ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ.
And Yitzchàq entreated insistentlyⓘ the Tetragrammaton for his wife, for she was barren; and the Tetragrammaton granted his entreatyⓘ, and Rivqàh his wife conceived.

ויתרצצו הבנים בקרבה ותאמר אם כן למה זה אנכי ותלך לדרש את יהוה
ἐσκίρτων δὲ τὰ παιδία ἐν αὐτῇ· εἶπεν δέ Εἰ οὕτως μοι μέλλει γίνεσθαι, ἵνα τί μοι τοῦτο; ἐπορεύθη δὲ πυθέσθαι παρὰ κυρίου,
And the children jostled, clashedⓘ within her, and she said: If it is so, why then do I exist?ⓘ. And she went to inquire ofⓘ the Tetragrammaton.

ויאמר יהוה לה שני גיים גוים בבטנך ושני לאמים ממעיך יפרדו ולאם מלאם יאמץ ורב יעבד צעיר
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος αὐτῇ Δύο ἔθνη ἐν τῇ γαστρί σού εἰσιν, καὶ δύο λαοὶ ἐκ τῆς κοιλίας σου διασταλήσονται· καὶ λαὸς λαοῦ ὑπερέξει, καὶ ὁ μείζων δουλεύσει τῷ ἐλάσσονι.
And the Tetragrammaton said to her: «Two nations»ⓘ are in your womb, two peoples shall be divided from your belly; one people shall be stronger than the other, and the elder shall serve the youngerⓘ.

וימלאו ימיה ללדת והנה תומם בבטנה
καὶ ἐπληρώθησαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ τεκεῖν αὐτήν, καὶ τῇδε ἦν δίδυμα ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ αὐτῆς.
And the days of her delivery were fulfilled: and behold, twinsⓘ in her womb.
25
ויצא הראשון אדמוני כלו כאדרת שער ויקראו שמו עשו
ἐξῆλθεν δὲ ὁ υἱὸς ὁ πρωτότοκος πυρράκης, ὅλος ὡσεὶ δορὰ δασύς· ἐπωνόμασεν δὲ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ησαυ.
The first came out ruddyⓘ, all like a mantle of hairⓘ; and they called him Esàwⓘ.

ואחרי כן יצא אחיו וידו אחזת בעקב עשו ויקרא שמו יעקב ויצחק בן ששים שנה בלדת אתם
καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο ἐξῆλθεν ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ἐπειλημμένη τῆς πτέρνης Ησαυ· καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ιακωβ. Ισαακ δὲ ἦν ἐτῶν ἑξήκοντα, ὅτε ἔτεκεν αὐτοὺς Ρεβεκκα.
And afterward his brother came out, with his hand grasping the heelⓘ of Esàw; and they called him Yaʿaqòvⓘ. And Yitzchàq was sixty years old when she bore them.
27
ויגדלו הנערים ויהי עשו איש ידע ציד איש שדה ויעקב איש תם ישב אהלים
Ηὐξήθησαν δὲ οἱ νεανίσκοι, καὶ ἦν Ησαυ ἄνθρωπος εἰδὼς κυνηγεῖν ἄγροικος, Ιακωβ δὲ ἦν ἄνθρωπος ἄπλαστος οἰκῶν οἰκίαν.
The boys grew up: and Esàw became a skilled hunter, a man of the steppeⓘ; and Yaʿaqòv a blamelessⓘ man who dwelt in the tentsⓘ.

ויאהב יצחק את עשו כי ציד בפיו ורבקה אהבת את יעקב
ἠγάπησεν δὲ Ισαακ τὸν Ησαυ, ὅτι ἡ θήρα αὐτοῦ βρῶσις αὐτῷ· Ρεβεκκα δὲ ἠγάπα τὸν Ιακωβ.
And Yitzchàq loved Esàw, for the game was pleasing to his palateⓘ; but Rivqàh loved Yaʿaqòv.
29
ויזד יעקב נזיד ויבא עשו מן השדה והוא עיף
ἥψησεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἕψεμα· ἦλθεν δὲ Ησαυ ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου ἐκλείπων,
And Yaʿaqòv was cooking a pottageⓘ; and Esàw came from the field exhaustedⓘ.
30
ויאמר עשו אל יעקב הלעיטני נא מן האדם האדם הזה כי עיף אנכי על כן קרא שמו אדום
καὶ εἶπεν Ησαυ τῷ Ιακωβ Γεῦσόν με ἀπὸ τοῦ ἑψέματος τοῦ πυρροῦ τούτου, ὅτι ἐκλείπω. διὰ τοῦτο ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Εδωμ.
And Esàw said to Yaʿaqòv: «Let me gulp down»ⓘ of this red, of this redⓘ, for I am exhausted! — therefore he was called Edòmⓘ.

ויאמר יעקב מכרה כיום את בכרתך לי
εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ τῷ Ησαυ Ἀπόδου μοι σήμερον τὰ πρωτοτόκιά σου ἐμοί.
And Yaʿaqòv said: «Sell me today your birthright»ⓘ.
32
ויאמר עשו הנה אנכי הולך למות ולמה זה לי בכרה
εἶπεν δὲ Ησαυ Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ πορεύομαι τελευτᾶν, καὶ ἵνα τί μοι ταῦτα τὰ πρωτοτόκια;
And Esàw said: «Behold, I am about to die»ⓘ: of what use is the birthright to me?
33
ויאמר יעקב השבעה לי כיום וישבע לו וימכר את בכרתו ליעקב
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ιακωβ Ὄμοσόν μοι σήμερον. καὶ ὤμοσεν αὐτῷ· ἀπέδοτο δὲ Ησαυ τὰ πρωτοτόκια τῷ Ιακωβ.
And Yaʿaqòv said: «Swear to me today»ⓘ. And he sworeⓘ and sold his birthrightⓘ to Yaʿaqòv.

ויעקב נתן לעשו לחם ונזיד עדשים ויאכל וישת ויקם וילך ויבז עשו את הבכרה
Ιακωβ δὲ ἔδωκεν τῷ Ησαυ ἄρτον καὶ ἕψεμα φακοῦ, καὶ ἔφαγεν καὶ ἔπιεν καὶ ἀναστὰς ᾤχετο· καὶ ἐφαύλισεν Ησαυ τὰ πρωτοτόκια.
And Yaʿaqòv gave Esàw bread and a pottage of lentilsⓘ; and he ate and drank and rose and went his way: so **Esàw despisedⓘ the birthright.
