ואברהם זקן בא בימים ויהוה ברך את אברהם בכל
Καὶ Αβρααμ ἦν πρεσβύτερος προβεβηκὼς ἡμερῶν, καὶ κύριος εὐλόγησεν τὸν Αβρααμ κατὰ πάντα.
Avrahàm was old, advanced in his days, and the Tetragrammaton had blessed Avrahàmⓘ in everythingⓘ.

ויאמר אברהם אל עבדו זקן ביתו המשל בכל אשר לו שים נא ידך תחת ירכי
καὶ εἶπεν Αβρααμ τῷ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ τῷ πρεσβυτέρῳ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ τῷ ἄρχοντι πάντων τῶν αὐτοῦ Θὲς τὴν χεῖρά σου ὑπὸ τὸν μηρόν μου,
Avrahàm said to his servant, the elder of his houseⓘ who governed all that he possessedⓘ: Place your hand under my thighⓘ —

ואשביעך ביהוה אלהי השמים ואלהי הארץ אשר לא תקח אשה לבני מבנות הכנעני אשר אנכי יושב בקרבו
καὶ ἐξορκιῶ σε κύριον τὸν θεὸν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τὸν θεὸν τῆς γῆς, ἵνα μὴ λάβῃς γυναῖκα τῷ υἱῷ μου Ισαακ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων τῶν Χαναναίων, μεθ’ ὧν ἐγὼ οἰκῶ ἐν αὐτοῖς,
and I will make you swear by the Tetragrammatonⓘ, God of heaven and God of the earthⓘ, that you take no wife for my son from the daughters of the Kenaaneiⓘ among whom I dwell,

כי אל ארצי ואל מולדתי תלך ולקחת אשה לבני ליצחק
ἀλλὰ εἰς τὴν γῆν μου, οὗ ἐγενόμην, πορεύσῃ καὶ εἰς τὴν φυλήν μου καὶ λήμψῃ γυναῖκα τῷ υἱῷ μου Ισαακ ἐκεῖθεν.
but that you go to my land, to my kindredⓘ, and from there you shall take a wife for my son Yitzchàq.

ויאמר אליו העבד אולי לא תאבה האשה ללכת אחרי אל הארץ הזאת ההשב אשיב את בנך אל הארץ אשר יצאת משם
εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ παῖς Μήποτε οὐ βούλεται ἡ γυνὴ πορευθῆναι μετ’ ἐμοῦ ὀπίσω εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην· ἀποστρέψω τὸν υἱόν σου εἰς τὴν γῆν, ὅθεν ἐξῆλθες ἐκεῖθεν;
The servant said to him: Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow meⓘ toward this land; must I then bring your son back to the land from which you came out?

ויאמר אליו אברהם השמר לך פן תשיב את בני שמה
εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν Αβρααμ Πρόσεχε σεαυτῷ, μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς τὸν υἱόν μου ἐκεῖ.
Avrahàm answered him: Take good care not to bring my son back thereⓘ.

יהוה אלהי השמים אשר לקחני מבית אבי ומארץ מולדתי ואשר דבר לי ואשר נשבע לי לאמר לזרעך אתן את הארץ הזאת הוא ישלח מלאכו לפניך ולקחת אשה לבני משם
κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ὁ θεὸς τῆς γῆς, ὃς ἔλαβέν με ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ ἐκ τῆς γῆς, ἧς ἐγενήθην, ὃς ἐλάλησέν μοι καὶ ὤμοσέν μοι λέγων Σοὶ δώσω τὴν γῆν ταύτην καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου, αὐτὸς ἀποστελεῖ τὸν ἄγγελον αὐτοῦ ἔμπροσθέν σου, καὶ λήμψῃ γυναῖκα τῷ υἱῷ μου Ισαακ ἐκεῖθεν.

ואם לא תאבה האשה ללכת אחריך ונקית משבעתי זאת רק את בני לא תשב שמה
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ θέλῃ ἡ γυνὴ πορευθῆναι μετὰ σοῦ εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην, καθαρὸς ἔσῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ ὅρκου τούτου· μόνον τὸν υἱόν μου μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς ἐκεῖ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——If the woman is not willing to come with you toward this landⓘ, you will be clear of this oathⓘ; only do not bring my son back there.—— Masoretic (MT) ——If the woman is not willing to follow you, you will be released from this my oathⓘ; only do not bring my son back there.

וישם העבד את ידו תחת ירך אברהם אדניו וישבע לו על הדבר הזה
καὶ ἔθηκεν ὁ παῖς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ὑπὸ τὸν μηρὸν Αβρααμ τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ καὶ ὤμοσεν αὐτῷ περὶ τοῦ ῥήματος τούτου
The servant placed his hand under the thigh of Avrahàm his masterⓘ and swore to him concerning this matter.

ויקח העבד עשרה גמלים מגמלי אדניו וילך וכל טוב אדניו בידו ויקם וילך אל ארם נהרים אל עיר נחור
Καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ παῖς δέκα καμήλους ἀπὸ τῶν καμήλων τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἀγαθῶν τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ἀναστὰς ἐπορεύθη εἰς τὴν Μεσοποταμίαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν Ναχωρ.
The servant took ten camelsⓘ from among the camels of his master, and set out with all sorts of precious goods of his master in handⓘ; he arose and went to Aràm-Naharàimⓘ, to the city of Nachòr.

ויברך הגמלים מחוץ לעיר אל באר המים לעת ערב לעת צאת השאבת
καὶ ἐκοίμισεν τὰς καμήλους ἔξω τῆς πόλεως παρὰ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὕδατος τὸ πρὸς ὀψέ, ἡνίκα ἐκπορεύονται αἱ ὑδρευόμεναι.
He made the camels kneelⓘ outside the city, by the well of waterⓘ, at the time of evening, at the hour when the women who draw water go outⓘ.

ויאמר יהוה אלהי אדני אברהם הקרה נא לפני היום ועשה חסד עם אדני אברהם
καὶ εἶπεν Κύριε ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου μου Αβρααμ, εὐόδωσον ἐναντίον ἐμοῦ σήμερον καὶ ποίησον ἔλεος μετὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου Αβρααμ.
And he said: Tetragrammatonⓘ, God of my master Avrahàm, let me meet the right person todayⓘ and show kindness-faithfulnessⓘ toward my master Avrahàm.

הנה אנכי נצב על עין המים ובנות אנשי העיר יצאת לשאב מים
ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἕστηκα ἐπὶ τῆς πηγῆς τοῦ ὕδατος, αἱ δὲ θυγατέρες τῶν οἰκούντων τὴν πόλιν ἐκπορεύονται ἀντλῆσαι ὕδωρ,
Behold, I stand here by the spring of waterⓘ, and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

והיה הנער אשר אמר אליה הטי נא כדך ואשתה ואמרה שתה וגם גמליך אשקה אתה הכחת לעבדך ליצחק ובה אדע כי עשית חסד עם אדני
καὶ ἔσται ἡ παρθένος, ᾗ ἂν ἐγὼ εἴπω Ἐπίκλινον τὴν ὑδρίαν σου, ἵνα πίω, καὶ εἴπῃ μοι Πίε, καὶ τὰς καμήλους σου ποτιῶ, ἕως ἂν παύσωνται πίνουσαι, ταύτην ἡτοίμασας τῷ παιδί σου Ισαακ, καὶ ἐν τούτῳ γνώσομαι ὅτι ἐποίησας ἔλεος τῷ κυρίῳ μου Αβρααμ.
the maidenⓘ to whom I shall say «lower, I pray, your jar that I may drink», and who shall answer «drink, and I will also water your camels» until they have finished drinkingⓘ — let her be the one whom you have destinedⓘ for your servant Yitzchàq; from this signⓘ I shall know that you have shown chèsed toward my master.

ויהי הוא טרם כלה לדבר והנה רבקה יצאת אשר ילדה לבתואל בן מלכה אשת נחור אחי אברהם וכדה על שכמה
καὶ ἐγένετο πρὸ τοῦ συντελέσαι αὐτὸν λαλοῦντα ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ, καὶ ἰδοὺ Ρεβεκκα ἐξεπορεύετο ἡ τεχθεῖσα Βαθουηλ υἱῷ Μελχας τῆς γυναικὸς Ναχωρ ἀδελφοῦ δὲ Αβρααμ ἔχουσα τὴν ὑδρίαν ἐπὶ τῶν ὤμων αὐτῆς.
He had not yet finished speakingⓘ, when behold, Rivqàh — daughter of Betuèlⓘ, son of Milkàh, wife of Nachòr brother of Avrahàmⓘ — who was coming out with her jar on her shoulder.

והנער טבת מראה מאד בתולה ואיש לא ידעה ותרד העינה ותמלא כדה ותעל
ἡ δὲ παρθένος ἦν καλὴ τῇ ὄψει σφόδρα· παρθένος ἦν, ἀνὴρ οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτήν. καταβᾶσα δὲ ἐπὶ τὴν πηγὴν ἔπλησεν τὴν ὑδρίαν καὶ ἀνέβη.
The maiden was very beautiful in appearanceⓘ, a virgin — no man had known herⓘ; she went down to the spring, filled her jar, and came up.
17
וירץ העבד לקראתה ויאמר הגמיאיני נא מעט מים מכדך
ἐπέδραμεν δὲ ὁ παῖς εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπεν Πότισόν με μικρὸν ὕδωρ ἐκ τῆς ὑδρίας σου.
The servant ran to meet her and said: Let me sipⓘ, I pray, a little water from your jar.
18
ותאמר שתה אדני ותמהר ותרד כדה על ידה ותשקהו
ἡ δὲ εἶπεν Πίε, κύριε. καὶ ἔσπευσεν καὶ καθεῖλεν τὴν ὑδρίαν ἐπὶ τὸν βραχίονα αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπότισεν αὐτόν,
And she said: Drink, my lordⓘ; and quickly she let down the jar onto her handⓘ and gave him to drink.
19
ותכל להשקתו ותאמר גם לגמליך אשאב עד אם כלו לשתת
ἕως ἐπαύσατο πίνων. καὶ εἶπεν Καὶ ταῖς καμήλοις σου ὑδρεύσομαι, ἕως ἂν πᾶσαι πίωσιν.
When she had finished giving him to drink, she said: I will draw water also for your camelsⓘ until they have finished drinking.
20
ותמהר ותער כדה אל השקת ותרץ עוד אל הבאר לשאב ותשאב לכל גמליו
καὶ ἔσπευσεν καὶ ἐξεκένωσεν τὴν ὑδρίαν εἰς τὸ ποτιστήριον καὶ ἔδραμεν ἔτι ἐπὶ τὸ φρέαρ ἀντλῆσαι καὶ ὑδρεύσατο πάσαις ταῖς καμήλοις.
Quickly she emptied her jarⓘ into the trough, ran again to the well to draw, and drew for all the camels.
21
והאיש משתאה לה מחריש לדעת ההצליח יהוה דרכו אם לא
ὁ δὲ ἄνθρωπος κατεμάνθανεν αὐτὴν καὶ παρεσιώπα τοῦ γνῶναι εἰ εὐόδωκεν κύριος τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ ἢ οὔ.
The man, astonishedⓘ, watched her in silenceⓘ, to learn whether the Tetragrammatonⓘ had made his journey succeed or not.

ויהי כאשר כלו הגמלים לשתות ויקח האיש נזם זהב בקע משקלו ושני צמידים על ידיה עשרה זהב משקלם
ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἐπαύσαντο πᾶσαι αἱ κάμηλοι πίνουσαι, ἔλαβεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐνώτια χρυσᾶ ἀνὰ δραχμὴν ὁλκῆς καὶ δύο ψέλια ἐπὶ τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῆς, δέκα χρυσῶν ὁλκὴ αὐτῶν.
When the camels had finished drinking, the man took a gold ringⓘ weighing half a shekelⓘ and two gold braceletsⓘ weighing ten shekels of gold for her arms.
23
ויאמר בת מי את הגידי נא לי היש בית אביך מקום לנו ללין
καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτὴν καὶ εἶπεν Θυγάτηρ τίνος εἶ; ἀνάγγειλόν μοι· εἰ ἔστιν παρὰ τῷ πατρί σου τόπος ἡμῖν καταλῦσαι;
And he said: Whose daughter are you? Tell me, I pray. Is there room in your father's house for us to lodge?ⓘ.
24
ותאמר אליו בת בתואל אנכי בן מלכה אשר ילדה לנחור
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Θυγάτηρ Βαθουηλ εἰμὶ ἐγὼ τοῦ Μελχας, ὃν ἔτεκεν τῷ Ναχωρ.
And she said to him: I am the daughter of Betuèl, the son whom Milkàhⓘ bore to Nachòr.
25
ותאמר אליו גם תבן גם מספוא רב עמנו גם מקום ללון
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Καὶ ἄχυρα καὶ χορτάσματα πολλὰ παρ’ ἡμῖν καὶ τόπος τοῦ καταλῦσαι.
And she added: With us there is also straw and fodder in abundanceⓘ, and also room to lodge.
26
ויקד האיש וישתחו ליהוה
καὶ εὐδοκήσας ὁ ἄνθρωπος προσεκύνησεν κυρίῳ
Then the man bowed down and prostrated himself before the Tetragrammatonⓘ.
27
ויאמר ברוך יהוה אלהי אדני אברהם אשר לא עזב חסדו ואמתו מעם אדני אנכי בדרך נחני יהוה בית אחי אדני
καὶ εἶπεν Εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου μου Αβρααμ, ὃς οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπεν τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν ἀλήθειαν ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου μου· ἐμὲ εὐόδωκεν κύριος εἰς οἶκον τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τοῦ κυρίου μου.
And he said: Blessed be the Tetragrammatonⓘ, God of my master Avrahàm, who has not withdrawn his kindness-faithfulness and his truth-faithfulnessⓘ from my master: as for me, the Tetragrammatonⓘ has led me on the way, to the house of my master's brothers.
28
ותרץ הנער ותגד לבית אמה כדברים האלה
Καὶ δραμοῦσα ἡ παῖς ἀπήγγειλεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα.
The maiden ran to tell these things at the house of her motherⓘ.
29
ולרבקה אח ושמו לבן וירץ לבן אל האיש החוצה אל העין
τῇ δὲ Ρεβεκκα ἀδελφὸς ἦν, ᾧ ὄνομα Λαβαν· καὶ ἔδραμεν Λαβαν πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἔξω ἐπὶ τὴν πηγήν.
Rivqàh had a brother named Lavànⓘ; Lavàn ran out toward the man, to the spring.
30
ויהי כראת את הנזם ואת הצמדים על ידי אחתו וכשמעו את דברי רבקה אחתו לאמר כה דבר אלי האיש ויבא אל האיש והנה עמד על הגמלים על העין
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα εἶδεν τὰ ἐνώτια καὶ τὰ ψέλια ἐπὶ τὰς χεῖρας τῆς ἀδελφῆς αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅτε ἤκουσεν τὰ ῥήματα Ρεβεκκας τῆς ἀδελφῆς αὐτοῦ λεγούσης Οὕτως λελάληκέν μοι ὁ ἄνθρωπος, καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἑστηκότος αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῶν καμήλων ἐπὶ τῆς πηγῆς
When he saw the ring and the bracelets on his sister's arms, and heard the words of Rivqàh his sister, who said «thus the man spoke to me», he went to the man; and behold, he was standing by the camels, at the springⓘ.

ויאמר בוא ברוך יהוה למה תעמד בחוץ ואנכי פניתי הבית ומקום לגמלים
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Δεῦρο εἴσελθε· εὐλογητὸς κύριος· ἵνα τί ἕστηκας ἔξω; ἐγὼ δὲ ἡτοίμακα τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ τόπον ταῖς καμήλοις.
And he said: Come, blessed of the Tetragrammatonⓘ! Why do you stand outside? I have prepared the house and the place for the camels.
32
ויבא האיש הביתה ויפתח הגמלים ויתן תבן ומספוא לגמלים ומים לרחץ רגליו ורגלי האנשים אשר אתו
εἰσῆλθεν δὲ ὁ ἄνθρωπος εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ ἀπέσαξεν τὰς καμήλους. καὶ ἔδωκεν ἄχυρα καὶ χορτάσματα ταῖς καμήλοις καὶ ὕδωρ νίψασθαι τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῖς ποσὶν τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν μετ’ αὐτοῦ.
The man entered the house; the camels were unloadedⓘ; straw and fodder were given to the camels, and water to wash his feet and those of the men who were with him.
33
ויישם ויושם לפניו לאכל ויאמר לא אכל עד אם דברתי דברי ויאמר דבר
καὶ παρέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ἄρτους φαγεῖν. καὶ εἶπεν Οὐ μὴ φάγω ἕως τοῦ λαλῆσαί με τὰ ῥήματά μου. καὶ εἶπαν Λάλησον.
Food was set before him to eatⓘ; but he said: I will not eat until I have spoken my words. And Lavànⓘ said: Speak.

ויאמר עבד אברהם אנכי
Καὶ εἶπεν Παῖς Αβρααμ ἐγώ εἰμι.
And he said: I am the servant of Avrahàmⓘ.
35
ויהוה ברך את אדני מאד ויגדל ויתן לו צאן ובקר וכסף וזהב ועבדם ושפחת וגמלים וחמרים
κύριος δὲ εὐλόγησεν τὸν κύριόν μου σφόδρα, καὶ ὑψώθη· καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους, ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, παῖδας καὶ παιδίσκας, καμήλους καὶ ὄνους.
The Tetragrammatonⓘ has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great: he has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male and female servants, camels and donkeys.
36
ותלד שרה אשת אדני בן לאדני אחרי זקנתה ויתן לו את כל אשר לו
καὶ ἔτεκεν Σαρρα ἡ γυνὴ τοῦ κυρίου μου υἱὸν ἕνα τῷ κυρίῳ μου μετὰ τὸ γηρᾶσαι αὐτόν, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ὅσα ἦν αὐτῷ.
Saràh, my master's wife, bore him a sonⓘ in her old age, and to him he has given all that he possesses.
37
וישבעני אדני לאמר לא תקח אשה לבני מבנות הכנעני אשר אנכי ישב בארצו
καὶ ὥρκισέν με ὁ κύριός μου λέγων Οὐ λήμψῃ γυναῖκα τῷ υἱῷ μου ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων τῶν Χαναναίων, ἐν οἷς ἐγὼ παροικῶ ἐν τῇ γῇ αὐτῶν,
My master made me swear, saying: You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Kenaanei in whose land I dwellⓘ,
38
אם לא אל בית אבי תלך ואל משפחתי ולקחת אשה לבני
ἀλλ’ ἢ εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου πορεύσῃ καὶ εἰς τὴν φυλήν μου καὶ λήμψῃ γυναῖκα τῷ υἱῷ μου ἐκεῖθεν.
but you shall go to my father's house, to my kindred, and take a wife for my son.
39
ואמר אל אדני אלי לא תלך האשה אחרי
εἶπα δὲ τῷ κυρίῳ μου Μήποτε οὐ πορεύσεται ἡ γυνὴ μετ’ ἐμοῦ.
And I said to my master: Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me.
40
ויאמר אלי יהוה אשר התהלכתי לפניו ישלח מלאכו אתך והצליח דרכך ולקחת אשה לבני ממשפחתי ומבית אבי
καὶ εἶπέν μοι Κύριος, ᾧ εὐηρέστησα ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ, αὐτὸς ἀποστελεῖ τὸν ἄγγελον αὐτοῦ μετὰ σοῦ καὶ εὐοδώσει τὴν ὁδόν σου, καὶ λήμψῃ γυναῖκα τῷ υἱῷ μου ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς μου καὶ ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός μου.
And he answered me: The Tetragrammatonⓘ, before whom I have walked, will send his messengerⓘ with you and will make your journey succeed, and you shall take a wife for my son from my kindred and from my father's house.
41
אז תנקה מאלתי כי תבוא אל משפחתי ואם לא יתנו לך והיית נקי מאלתי
τότε ἀθῷος ἔσῃ ἀπὸ τῆς ἀρᾶς μου· ἡνίκα γὰρ ἐὰν ἔλθῃς εἰς τὴν ἐμὴν φυλὴν καὶ μή σοι δῶσιν, καὶ ἔσῃ ἀθῷος ἀπὸ τοῦ ὁρκισμοῦ μου.
Then you will be released from my oath, when you have come to my kindred; if they do not give her to you, you will be released from my oath.

ואבא היום אל העין ואמר יהוה אלהי אדני אברהם אם ישך נא מצליח דרכי אשר אנכי הלך עליה
καὶ ἐλθὼν σήμερον ἐπὶ τὴν πηγὴν εἶπα Κύριε ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου μου Αβρααμ, εἰ σὺ εὐοδοῖς τὴν ὁδόν μου, ἣν νῦν ἐγὼ πορεύομαι ἐπ’ αὐτήν,
Today I came to the spring and said: Tetragrammatonⓘ, God of my master Avrahàm, if indeed you make the way succeed on which I walkⓘ —
43
הנה אנכי נצב על עין המים והיה העלמה היצאת לשאב ואמרתי אליה השקיני נא מעט מים מכדך
ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐφέστηκα ἐπὶ τῆς πηγῆς τοῦ ὕδατος, καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες τῶν ἀνθρώπων τῆς πόλεως ἐξελεύσονται ὑδρεύσασθαι ὕδωρ, καὶ ἔσται ἡ παρθένος, ᾗ ἂν ἐγὼ εἴπω Πότισόν με μικρὸν ὕδωρ ἐκ τῆς ὑδρίας σου,
behold, I stand by the spring of waterⓘ, and the maiden who comes out to drawⓘ, to whom I shall say «give me to drink, I pray, a little water from your jar»,
44
ואמרה אלי גם אתה שתה וגם לגמליך אשאב הוא האשה אשר הכיח יהוה לבן אדני
καὶ εἴπῃ μοι Καὶ σὺ πίε, καὶ ταῖς καμήλοις σου ὑδρεύσομαι, αὕτη ἡ γυνή, ἣν ἡτοίμασεν κύριος τῷ ἑαυτοῦ θεράποντι Ισαακ, καὶ ἐν τούτῳ γνώσομαι ὅτι πεποίηκας ἔλεος τῷ κυρίῳ μου Αβρααμ.
and who shall answer me «drink, and I will also draw for your camels», let her be the woman whom the Tetragrammatonⓘ has destined for the son of my masterⓘ.
45
אני טרם אכלה לדבר אל לבי והנה רבקה יצאת וכדה על שכמה ותרד העינה ותשאב ואמר אליה השקיני נא
καὶ ἐγένετο πρὸ τοῦ συντελέσαι με λαλοῦντα ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ εὐθὺς Ρεβεκκα ἐξεπορεύετο ἔχουσα τὴν ὑδρίαν ἐπὶ τῶν ὤμων καὶ κατέβη ἐπὶ τὴν πηγὴν καὶ ὑδρεύσατο. εἶπα δὲ αὐτῇ Πότισόν με.
I had not yet finished speaking in my heartⓘ, when behold, Rivqàh came outⓘ with her jar on her shoulder; she went down to the spring, drew; I said to her: Let me drink, I pray.
46
ותמהר ותורד כדה מעליה ותאמר שתה וגם גמליך אשקה ואשת וגם הגמלים השקתה
καὶ σπεύσασα καθεῖλεν τὴν ὑδρίαν αὐτῆς ἀφ’ ἑαυτῆς καὶ εἶπεν Πίε σύ, καὶ τὰς καμήλους σου ποτιῶ. καὶ ἔπιον, καὶ τὰς καμήλους μου ἐπότισεν.
And she quickly let down her jar from upon herself and said: Drink, and I will also water your camels. I drankⓘ, and she watered the camels also.
47
ואשאל אתה ואמר בת מי את ותאמר בת בתואל בן נחור אשר ילדה לו מלכה ואשם הנזם על אפה והצמידים על ידיה
καὶ ἠρώτησα αὐτὴν καὶ εἶπα Τίνος εἶ θυγάτηρ; ἡ δὲ ἔφη Θυγάτηρ Βαθουηλ εἰμὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ Ναχωρ, ὃν ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ Μελχα. καὶ περιέθηκα αὐτῇ τὰ ἐνώτια καὶ τὰ ψέλια περὶ τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῆς·
I asked her: Whose daughter are you? And she answered: I am the daughter of Betuèl, son of Nachòr, whom Milkàh bore to him. Then I put the ring on her noseⓘ and the bracelets on her arms.

ואקד ואשתחוה ליהוה ואברך את יהוה אלהי אדני אברהם אשר הנחני בדרך אמת לקחת את בת אחי אדני לבנו
καὶ εὐδοκήσας προσεκύνησα κυρίῳ καὶ εὐλόγησα κύριον τὸν θεὸν τοῦ κυρίου μου Αβρααμ, ὃς εὐόδωσέν μοι ἐν ὁδῷ ἀληθείας λαβεῖν τὴν θυγατέρα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τοῦ κυρίου μου τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ.
I bowed down and prostrated myself before the Tetragrammatonⓘ, and I blessedⓘ the Tetragrammatonⓘ, God of my master Avrahàm, who has led me by the faithful wayⓘ to take the daughter of my master's brother for his son.
49
ועתה אם ישכם עשים חסד ואמת את אדני הגידו לי ואם לא הגידו לי ואפנה על ימין או על שמאל
εἰ οὖν ποιεῖτε ὑμεῖς ἔλεος καὶ δικαιοσύνην πρὸς τὸν κύριόν μου, ἀπαγγείλατέ μοι, εἰ δὲ μή, ἀπαγγείλατέ μοι, ἵνα ἐπιστρέψω εἰς δεξιὰν ἢ εἰς ἀριστεράν.
Now therefore, if you will show kindness-faithfulness and truthⓘ toward my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, that I may turn to the right or to the left.
50
ויען לבן ובתואל ויאמרו מיהוה יצא הדבר לא נוכל דבר אליך רע או טוב
Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Λαβαν καὶ Βαθουηλ εἶπαν Παρὰ κυρίου ἐξῆλθεν τὸ πρόσταγμα τοῦτο· οὐ δυνησόμεθα οὖν σοι ἀντειπεῖν κακὸν καλῷ.
Then Lavàn and Betuèl answered and said: From the Tetragrammaton this thing has comeⓘ; we cannot say to you either bad or good.
51
הנה רבקה לפניך קח ולך ותהי אשה לבן אדניך כאשר דבר יהוה
ἰδοὺ Ρεβεκκα ἐνώπιόν σου· λαβὼν ἀπότρεχε, καὶ ἔστω γυνὴ τῷ υἱῷ τοῦ κυρίου σου, καθὰ ἐλάλησεν κύριος.
Behold, Rivqàh is before you: take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master's son, as the Tetragrammatonⓘ has said.
52
ויהי כאשר שמע עבד אברהם את דבריהם וישתחו ארצה ליהוה
ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ ἀκοῦσαι τὸν παῖδα τὸν Αβρααμ τῶν ῥημάτων τούτων προσεκύνησεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν κυρίῳ.
When the servant of Avrahàm heard their words, he prostrated himself to the ground before the Tetragrammatonⓘ.
53
ויוצא העבד כלי כסף וכלי זהב ובגדים ויתן לרבקה ומגדנת נתן לאחיה ולאמה
καὶ ἐξενέγκας ὁ παῖς σκεύη ἀργυρᾶ καὶ χρυσᾶ καὶ ἱματισμὸν ἔδωκεν Ρεβεκκα καὶ δῶρα ἔδωκεν τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτῆς καὶ τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς.
The servant brought out objects of silver, objects of gold, and garmentsⓘ and gave them to Rivqàh; he gave precious giftsⓘ also to her brother and to her mother.

ויאכלו וישתו הוא והאנשים אשר עמו וילינו ויקומו בבקר ויאמר שלחני לאדני
καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἔπιον, αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ὄντες, καὶ ἐκοιμήθησαν. Καὶ ἀναστὰς πρωῒ εἶπεν Ἐκπέμψατέ με, ἵνα ἀπέλθω πρὸς τὸν κύριόν μου.
They ate and drank, he and the men who were with him, and they lodged for the night. When they arose in the morning, he said: Send me backⓘ to my master.
55
ויאמר אחיה ואמה תשב הנער אתנו ימים או עשור אחר תלך
εἶπαν δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῆς καὶ ἡ μήτηρ Μεινάτω ἡ παρθένος μεθ’ ἡμῶν ἡμέρας ὡσεὶ δέκα, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἀπελεύσεται.
Her brother and her motherⓘ said: Let the maiden remain with us a few days, at least some tenⓘ; after that she shall go.
56
ויאמר אלהם אל תאחרו אתי ויהוה הצליח דרכי שלחוני ואלכה לאדני
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς Μὴ κατέχετέ με, καὶ κύριος εὐόδωσεν τὴν ὁδόν μου· ἐκπέμψατέ με, ἵνα ἀπέλθω πρὸς τὸν κύριόν μου.
But he said to them: Do not detain me, since the Tetragrammatonⓘ has made my journey succeed; let me go, that I may return to my master.
57
ויאמרו נקרא לנער ונשאלה את פיה
οἱ δὲ εἶπαν Καλέσωμεν τὴν παῖδα καὶ ἐρωτήσωμεν τὸ στόμα αὐτῆς.
And they said: Let us call the maiden and hear from her own mouthⓘ.
58
ויקראו לרבקה ויאמרו אליה התלכי עם האיש הזה ותאמר אלך
καὶ ἐκάλεσαν Ρεβεκκαν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῇ Πορεύσῃ μετὰ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου; ἡ δὲ εἶπεν Πορεύσομαι.
They called Rivqàh and said to her: Will you go with this man? And she answered: I will goⓘ.
59
וישלחו את רבקה אחתם ואת מנקתה ואת עבד אברהם ואת אנשיו
καὶ ἐξέπεμψαν Ρεβεκκαν τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῆς καὶ τὸν παῖδα τὸν Αβρααμ καὶ τοὺς μετ’ αὐτοῦ.
Then they sent away Rivqàh their sisterⓘ, her nurseⓘ, the servant of Avrahàm and his men.
60
ויברכו את רבקה ויאמרו לה אחתנו את היי לאלפי רבבה ויירש זרעך את שער שנאיו
καὶ εὐλόγησαν Ρεβεκκαν τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῇ Ἀδελφὴ ἡμῶν εἶ· γίνου εἰς χιλιάδας μυριάδων, καὶ κληρονομησάτω τὸ σπέρμα σου τὰς πόλεις τῶν ὑπεναντίων.
And they blessed Rivqàh and said to her: Our sister, may you become thousands of myriadsⓘ, and may your seed possess the gate of its enemiesⓘ!
61
ותקם רבקה ונערתיה ותרכבנה על הגמלים ותלכנה אחרי האיש ויקח העבד את רבקה וילך
ἀναστᾶσα δὲ Ρεβεκκα καὶ αἱ ἅβραι αὐτῆς ἐπέβησαν ἐπὶ τὰς καμήλους καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν μετὰ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, καὶ ἀναλαβὼν ὁ παῖς τὴν Ρεβεκκαν ἀπῆλθεν.
Rivqàh and her maidservants arose, mounted the camels, and followed the man; the servant took Rivqàh and departed.
62
ויצחק בא מבוא באר לחי ראי והוא יושב בארץ הנגב
Ισαακ δὲ ἐπορεύετο διὰ τῆς ἐρήμου κατὰ τὸ φρέαρ τῆς ὁράσεως· αὐτὸς δὲ κατῴκει ἐν τῇ γῇ τῇ πρὸς λίβα.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——Isaac meanwhile was going through the wildernessⓘ by the well of the visionⓘ; he dwelt in the land toward the south windⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——Yitzchàq was coming from the well of Beʾèr-Lachài-Roìⓘ and dwelt in the land of the Negevⓘ.

ויצא יצחק לשוח בשדה לפנות ערב וישא עיניו וירא והנה גמלים באים
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Ισαακ ἀδολεσχῆσαι εἰς τὸ πεδίον τὸ πρὸς δείλης καὶ ἀναβλέψας τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς εἶδεν καμήλους ἐρχομένας.
Yitzchàq had gone out toward evening to meditate in the fieldⓘ; he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, camels were coming.
64
ותשא רבקה את עיניה ותרא את יצחק ותפל מעל הגמל
καὶ ἀναβλέψασα Ρεβεκκα τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς εἶδεν τὸν Ισαακ καὶ κατεπήδησεν ἀπὸ τῆς καμήλου
Rivqàh lifted up her eyes, saw Yitzchàq, and came down from the camelⓘ.
65
ותאמר אל העבד מי האיש הלזה ההלך בשדה לקראתנו ויאמר העבד הוא אדני ותקח הצעיף ותתכס
καὶ εἶπεν τῷ παιδί Τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος ὁ πορευόμενος ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ εἰς συνάντησιν ἡμῖν; εἶπεν δὲ ὁ παῖς Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ κύριός μου. ἡ δὲ λαβοῦσα τὸ θέριστρον περιεβάλετο.
And she said to the servant: Who is that man walking in the field to meet us? The servant answered: He is my master. She took the veil and covered herselfⓘ.

ויספר העבד ליצחק את כל הדברים אשר עשה
καὶ διηγήσατο ὁ παῖς τῷ Ισαακ πάντα τὰ ῥήματα, ἃ ἐποίησεν.
The servant recounted to Yitzchàq all that he had doneⓘ.
67
ויבאה יצחק האהלה שרה אמו ויקח את רבקה ותהי לו לאשה ויאהבה וינחם יצחק אחרי אמו
εἰσῆλθεν δὲ Ισαακ εἰς τὸν οἶκον τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλαβεν τὴν Ρεβεκκαν, καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτοῦ γυνή, καὶ ἠγάπησεν αὐτήν· καὶ παρεκλήθη Ισαακ περὶ Σαρρας τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ.
