ויסע ישראל וכל אשר לו ויבא בארה שבע ויזבח זבחים לאלהי אביו יצחק
Ἀπάρας δὲ Ισραηλ, αὐτὸς καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ, ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὅρκου καὶ ἔθυσεν θυσίαν τῷ θεῷ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ Ισαακ.
And Yisraèl set out with all that he possessed, came to Beèr-Shèvaʿ — the well of the oath, cultic site of the patriarchs (Gen 21:33; 26:23-25) — and offered sacrifices to the God of his fatherⓘ Yitzchàkⓘ.

ויאמר אלהים לישראל במראת הלילה ויאמר יעקב יעקב ויאמר הנני
εἶπεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἐν ὁράματι τῆς νυκτὸς εἴπας Ιακωβ, Ιακωβ. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Τί ἐστιν;

ויאמר אנכי האל אלהי אביך אל תירא מרדה מצרימה כי לגוי גדול אשימך שם
λέγων Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων σου· μὴ φοβοῦ καταβῆναι εἰς Αἴγυπτον· εἰς γὰρ ἔθνος μέγα ποιήσω σε ἐκεῖ,

אנכי ארד עמך מצרימה ואנכי אעלך גם עלה ויוסף ישית ידו על עיניך
καὶ ἐγὼ καταβήσομαι μετὰ σοῦ εἰς Αἴγυπτον, καὶ ἐγὼ ἀναβιβάσω σε εἰς τέλος, καὶ Ιωσηφ ἐπιβαλεῖ τὰς χεῖρας ἐπὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς σου.
I myself will go down with you into Egypt and I myself will surely bring you up againⓘ unto fulfillmentⓘ; and Yosèf will lay his hand upon your eyesⓘ.

ויקם יעקב מבאר שבע וישאו בני ישראל את יעקב אביהם ואת טפם ואת נשיהם בעגלות אשר שלח פרעה לשאת אתו
ἀνέστη δὲ Ιακωβ ἀπὸ τοῦ φρέατος τοῦ ὅρκου, καὶ ἀνέλαβον οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὸν πατέρα αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν ἀποσκευὴν καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὰς ἁμάξας, ἃς ἀπέστειλεν Ιωσηφ ἆραι αὐτόν,
And Yaʿaqòv arose from Beèr-Shèvaʿ; the sons of Israel carried their father Yaʿaqòv, the little ones and the wives, on the wagons that Pharaohⓘ had sent to transport him.

ויקחו את מקניהם ואת רכושם אשר רכשו בארץ כנען ויבאו מצרימה יעקב וכל זרעו אתו
καὶ ἀναλαβόντες τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν κτῆσιν, ἣν ἐκτήσαντο ἐν γῇ Χανααν, εἰσῆλθον εἰς Αἴγυπτον, Ιακωβ καὶ πᾶν τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ,
And they took with them the goods and the possessions that they had acquired in the land of Canaan and entered into Egypt — Yaʿaqòv and all his offspringⓘ with him.

בניו ובני בניו אתו בנתיו ובנות בניו וכל זרעו הביא אתו מצרימה
υἱοὶ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ, θυγατέρες καὶ θυγατέρες τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ· καὶ πᾶν τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ ἤγαγεν εἰς Αἴγυπτον.
The sons and the sons of the sons with him, the daughters and the daughters of the sons; all his offspring he brought with him into Egypt.

ואלה שמות בני ישראל הבאים מצרימה יעקב ובניו בכר יעקב ראובן
Ταῦτα δὲ τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ τῶν εἰσελθόντων εἰς Αἴγυπτον. Ιακωβ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ· πρωτότοκος Ιακωβ Ρουβην.
And these are the names of the sons of Israel who entered into Egypt — Yaʿaqòv and his sons —ⓘ: the firstborn of Yaʿaqòv, Reuvèn.

ובני ראובן חנוך ופלוא וחצרון וכרמי
υἱοὶ δὲ Ρουβην· Ενωχ καὶ Φαλλους, Ασρων καὶ Χαρμι.
Sons of Reuvèn: Chanòkh, Pallù, Chetzròn, Karmì.

ובני שמעון ימואל וימין ואהד ויכין וצחר ושאול בן הכנענית
υἱοὶ δὲ Συμεων· Ιεμουηλ καὶ Ιαμιν καὶ Αωδ καὶ Ιαχιν καὶ Σααρ καὶ Σαουλ υἱὸς τῆς Χανανίτιδος.
Sons of Shimʿòn: Yemuèl, Yamìn, Òhad, Yakhìn, Tzòchar and Shaùl son of the Canaanite womanⓘ.

ובני לוי גרשון קהת ומררי
υἱοὶ δὲ Λευι· Γηρσων, Κααθ καὶ Μεραρι.
Sons of Levì: Ghershòn, Qehàt, Merarì.

ובני יהודה ער ואונן ושלה ופרץ וזרח וימת ער ואונן בארץ כנען ויהיו בני פרץ חצרון וחמול
υἱοὶ δὲ Ιουδα· Ηρ καὶ Αυναν καὶ Σηλωμ καὶ Φαρες καὶ Ζαρα· ἀπέθανεν δὲ Ηρ καὶ Αυναν ἐν γῇ Χανααν· ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Φαρες Ασρων καὶ Ιεμουηλ.
Sons of Yehudàh: Er, Onàn, Shelàh, Pèretz, Zèrach; but Er and Onàn died in the land of Canaanⓘ; sons of Pèretz: Chetzròn and Chamùlⓘ.

ובני יששכר תולע ופוה ויוב ושמרון
υἱοὶ δὲ Ισσαχαρ· Θωλα καὶ Φουα καὶ Ιασουβ καὶ Ζαμβραμ.
Sons of Issakhàr: Tolàʿ, Puvvàh, Yovⓘ, Shimrònⓘ.

ובני זבולן סרד ואלון ויחלאל
υἱοὶ δὲ Ζαβουλων· Σερεδ καὶ Αλλων καὶ Αλοηλ.
Sons of Zevulùn: Sèred, Elòn, Yachleèl.

אלה בני לאה אשר ילדה ליעקב בפדן ארם ואת דינה בתו כל נפש בניו ובנותיו שלשים ושלש
οὗτοι υἱοὶ Λειας, οὓς ἔτεκεν τῷ Ιακωβ ἐν Μεσοποταμίᾳ τῆς Συρίας, καὶ Διναν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ· πᾶσαι αἱ ψυχαί, υἱοὶ καὶ θυγατέρες, τριάκοντα τρεῖς. –
These are the sons whom Leà bore to Yaʿaqòv in Paddàn-Aràmⓘ, together with Dinà his daughter: in all thirty-three personsⓘ.

ובני גד צפיון וחגי שוני ואצבן ערי וארודי ואראלי
υἱοὶ δὲ Γαδ· Σαφων καὶ Αγγις καὶ Σαυνις καὶ Θασοβαν καὶ Αηδις καὶ Αροηδις καὶ Αροηλις.
Sons of Gad: Tzifyòn, Chaggì, Shunì, Etzbòn, Erì, Aròdi, Arelì.

ובני אשר ימנה וישוה וישוי ובריעה ושרח אחתם ובני בריעה חבר ומלכיאל
υἱοὶ δὲ Ασηρ· Ιεμνα καὶ Ιεσουα καὶ Ιεουλ καὶ Βαρια, καὶ Σαρα ἀδελφὴ αὐτῶν. υἱοὶ δὲ Βαρια· Χοβορ καὶ Μελχιηλ.
Sons of Ashèr: Yimnàh, Yishvàh, Yishvì, Beriàh, and Sèrach their sisterⓘ; sons of Beriàh: Chèver, Malkièl.

אלה בני זלפה אשר נתן לבן ללאה בתו ותלד את אלה ליעקב שש עשרה נפש
οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ζελφας, ἣν ἔδωκεν Λαβαν Λεια τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ, ἣ ἔτεκεν τούτους τῷ Ιακωβ, δέκα ἓξ ψυχάς. –
These are the sons of Zilpàh, the maidservant whom Lavàn gave to Leà his daughter, whom she bore to Yaʿaqòv: in all sixteen persons.

בני רחל אשת יעקב יוסף ובנימן
υἱοὶ δὲ Ραχηλ γυναικὸς Ιακωβ· Ιωσηφ καὶ Βενιαμιν.
Sons of Rachèl, wife of Yaʿaqòv: Yosèf and Binyamìn.

ויולד ליוסף בארץ מצרים אשר ילדה לו אסנת בת פוטי פרע כהן אן את מנשה ואת אפרים
ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Ιωσηφ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, οὓς ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ Ασεννεθ θυγάτηρ Πετεφρη ἱερέως Ἡλίου πόλεως, τὸν Μανασση καὶ τὸν Εφραιμ. ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Μανασση, οὓς ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ ἡ παλλακὴ ἡ Σύρα, τὸν Μαχιρ· Μαχιρ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Γαλααδ. υἱοὶ δὲ Εφραιμ ἀδελφοῦ Μανασση· Σουταλααμ καὶ Τααμ. υἱοὶ δὲ Σουταλααμ· Εδεμ.

ובני בנימן בלע ובכר ואשבל גרא ונעמן אחי וראש מפים וחפים וארד
υἱοὶ δὲ Βενιαμιν· Βαλα καὶ Χοβωρ καὶ Ασβηλ. ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Βαλα· Γηρα καὶ Νοεμαν καὶ Αγχις καὶ Ρως καὶ Μαμφιν καὶ Οφιμιν· Γηρα δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αραδ.

ובני נפתלי יחצאל וגוני ויצר ושלם
καὶ υἱοὶ Νεφθαλι· Ασιηλ καὶ Γωυνι καὶ Ισσααρ καὶ Συλλημ.
Sons of Naftalì: Yachtzeèl, Gunì, Yètzer, Shillèmⓘ.

אלה בני בלהה אשר נתן לבן לרחל בתו ותלד את אלה ליעקב כל נפש שבעה
οὗτοι υἱοὶ Βαλλας, ἣν ἔδωκεν Λαβαν Ραχηλ τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ, ἣ ἔτεκεν τούτους τῷ Ιακωβ· πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ ἑπτά. –
These are the sons of Bilhàh, the maidservant whom Lavàn gave to Rachèl his daughter, whom she bore to Yaʿaqòv: in all seven persons.

כל הנפש הבאה ליעקב מצרימה יצאי ירכו מלבד נשי בני יעקב כל נפש ששים ושש
πᾶσαι δὲ ψυχαὶ αἱ εἰσελθοῦσαι μετὰ Ιακωβ εἰς Αἴγυπτον, οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐκ τῶν μηρῶν αὐτοῦ, χωρὶς τῶν γυναικῶν υἱῶν Ιακωβ, πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ ἑξήκοντα ἕξ.
All the persons who entered with Yaʿaqòv into Egypt, who came forth from his loinsⓘ, not counting the wives of the sons of Yaʿaqòv: in all sixty-six persons.

ובני יוסף אשר ילד לו במצרים נפש שנים כל הנפש לבית יעקב הבאה מצרימה שבעים
υἱοὶ δὲ Ιωσηφ οἱ γενόμενοι αὐτῷ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ψυχαὶ ἐννέα. πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ οἴκου Ιακωβ αἱ εἰσελθοῦσαι εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἑβδομήκοντα πέντε.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And the sons of Yosèf who were born to him in the land of Egypt were nine personsⓘ. All the persons of the house of Yaʿaqòv who entered into Egypt were seventy-fiveⓘ—— Masoretic (MT) ——And the sons of Yosèf who were born to him in Egypt were two personsⓘ; thus all the persons of the house of Yaʿaqòv who entered into Egypt were seventyⓘ.

ואת יהודה שלח לפניו אל יוסף להורת לפניו גשנה ויבאו ארצה גשן
Τὸν δὲ Ιουδαν ἀπέστειλεν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ πρὸς Ιωσηφ συναντῆσαι αὐτῷ καθ’ Ἡρώων πόλιν εἰς γῆν Ραμεσση.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And he sent Yehudà ahead of him to Yosèf, to meet himⓘ, by the city of the Heroes, toward the land of Ramesseⓘ—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Yaʿaqòvⓘ sent Yehudàh ahead of him to Yosèf, that he might show him the way toward Gòshen by the city of the Heroes, in the land of Ramesseⓘ; and they came into the region of Gòshen.

ויאסר יוסף מרכבתו ויעל לקראת ישראל אביו גשנה וירא אליו ויפל על צואריו ויבך על צואריו עוד
ζεύξας δὲ Ιωσηφ τὰ ἅρματα αὐτοῦ ἀνέβη εἰς συνάντησιν Ισραηλ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ καθ’ Ἡρώων πόλιν καὶ ὀφθεὶς αὐτῷ ἐπέπεσεν ἐπὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔκλαυσεν κλαυθμῷ πλείονι.
And Yosèf had his chariot yoked and went up to meet Yisraèl his father at Gòshen by the city of the Heroesⓘ; and he appeared before him, fell upon his neck and wept a long while upon his neckⓘ.

ויאמר ישראל אל יוסף אמותה הפעם אחרי ראותי את פניך כי עודך חי
καὶ εἶπεν Ισραηλ πρὸς Ιωσηφ Ἀποθανοῦμαι ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν, ἐπεὶ ἑώρακα τὸ πρόσωπόν σου· ἔτι γὰρ σὺ ζῇς.
And Yisraèl said to Yosèf: «I can die this time, having seen your face»ⓘ, for you are still alive.

ויאמר יוסף אל אחיו ואל בית אביו אעלה ואגידה לפרעה ואמרה אליו אחי ובית אבי אשר בארץ כנען באו אלי
εἶπεν δὲ Ιωσηφ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ Ἀναβὰς ἀπαγγελῶ τῷ Φαραω καὶ ἐρῶ αὐτῷ Οἱ ἀδελφοί μου καὶ ὁ οἶκος τοῦ πατρός μου, οἳ ἦσαν ἐν γῇ Χανααν, ἥκασιν πρός με·
And Yosèf said to his brothers and to the house of his father: I will go up to inform Pharaoh and will say to him: «My brothers and the house of my father, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me;

והאנשים רעי צאן כי אנשי מקנה היו וצאנם ובקרם וכל אשר להם הביאו
οἱ δὲ ἄνδρες εἰσὶν ποιμένες – ἄνδρες γὰρ κτηνοτρόφοι ἦσαν – καὶ τὰ κτήνη καὶ τοὺς βόας καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτῶν ἀγειόχασιν.
these men are shepherds of flocksⓘ, for they were keepers of livestock; and they have brought with them their flocks, their herds and all that they possess.
33
והיה כי יקרא לכם פרעה ואמר מה מעשיכם
ἐὰν οὖν καλέσῃ ὑμᾶς Φαραω καὶ εἴπῃ ὑμῖν Τί τὸ ἔργον ὑμῶν ἐστιν;
When Pharaoh summons you and asks you: «What is your occupation?»,
34
ואמרתם אנשי מקנה היו עבדיך מנעורינו ועד עתה גם אנחנו גם אבתינו בעבור תשבו בארץ גשן כי תועבת מצרים כל רעה צאן
ἐρεῖτε Ἄνδρες κτηνοτρόφοι ἐσμὲν οἱ παῖδές σου ἐκ παιδὸς ἕως τοῦ νῦν, καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν, ἵνα κατοικήσητε ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ Ἀραβίᾳ· βδέλυγμα γάρ ἐστιν Αἰγυπτίοις πᾶς ποιμὴν προβάτων.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——you shall say: «Your servants are keepers of livestock (ἄνδρες κτηνοτρόφοι)ⓘ from boyhood and until now, we and our fathers», that you may dwell in the land of Gèsem of Arabiaⓘ; for every shepherd of flocks is an abominationⓘ to the Egyptians»—— Masoretic (MT) ——you shall answer: «Your servants have been keepers of livestockⓘ from our youth until now, we and our fathers before us» — thus you may dwell in the land of Gòshen of Arabiaⓘ — because every shepherd of flocks is an abominationⓘ to the Egyptians».
