והנחש היה ערום מכל חית השדה אשר עשה יהוה אלהים ויאמר אל האשה אף כי אמר אלהים לא תאכלו מכל עץ הגן
Ὁ δὲ ὄφις ἦν φρονιμώτατος πάντων τῶν θηρίων τῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὧν ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεός· καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ὄφις τῇ γυναικί Τί ὅτι εἶπεν ὁ θεός Οὐ μὴ φάγητε ἀπὸ παντὸς ξύλου τοῦ ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ;
The serpentⓘ was the most cunningⓘ of all the beasts of the fieldⓘ that the Tetragrammaton God had made; and he said to the woman: «Did God really say: You shall not eat from any tree of the garden?».

ותאמר האשה אל הנחש מפרי עץ הגן נאכל
καὶ εἶπεν ἡ γυνὴ τῷ ὄφει Ἀπὸ καρποῦ ξύλου τοῦ παραδείσου φαγόμεθα,
And the woman said to the serpent: «From the fruit of the trees of the garden we eat;

ומפרי העץ אשר בתוך הגן אמר אלהים לא תאכלו ממנו ולא תגעו בו פן תמתון
ἀπὸ δὲ καρποῦ τοῦ ξύλου, ὅ ἐστιν ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ παραδείσου, εἶπεν ὁ θεός Οὐ φάγεσθε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ οὐδὲ μὴ ἅψησθε αὐτοῦ, ἵνα μὴ ἀποθάνητε.
but from the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden God said: You shall not eat of it and you shall not touch itⓘ, lest you dieⓘ».

ויאמר הנחש אל האשה לא מות תמתון
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ὄφις τῇ γυναικί Οὐ θανάτῳ ἀποθανεῖσθε·
And the serpent said to the woman: «You shall surely not die»ⓘ.

כי ידע אלהים כי ביום אכלכם ממנו ונפקחו עיניכם והייתם כאלהים ידעי טוב ורע
ᾔδει γὰρ ὁ θεὸς ὅτι ἐν ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ φάγητε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ, διανοιχθήσονται ὑμῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί, καὶ ἔσεσθε ὡς θεοὶ γινώσκοντες καλὸν καὶ πονηρόν.
He knowsⓘ in fact God that in the day in which you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you shall be like godsⓘ, knowingⓘ good and evil.

ותרא האשה כי טוב העץ למאכל וכי תאוה הוא לעינים ונחמד העץ להשכיל ותקח מפריו ותאכל ותתן גם לאישה עמה ויאכל
καὶ εἶδεν ἡ γυνὴ ὅτι καλὸν τὸ ξύλον εἰς βρῶσιν καὶ ὅτι ἀρεστὸν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ἰδεῖν καὶ ὡραῖόν ἐστιν τοῦ κατανοῆσαι, καὶ λαβοῦσα τοῦ καρποῦ αὐτοῦ ἔφαγεν· καὶ ἔδωκεν καὶ τῷ ἀνδρὶ αὐτῆς μετ’ αὐτῆς, καὶ ἔφαγον.
And the woman saw that the tree was good for eatingⓘ and that it was desirable to the eyesⓘ and desirable for acquiring wisdomⓘ, and she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave to her man with herⓘ, and he ate.

ותפקחנה עיני שניהם וידעו כי עירמם הם ויתפרו עלה תאנה ויעשו להם חגרת
καὶ διηνοίχθησαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ τῶν δύο, καὶ ἔγνωσαν ὅτι γυμνοὶ ἦσαν, καὶ ἔρραψαν φύλλα συκῆς καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς περιζώματα.
And the eyes of both were opened and they knew that they were nakedⓘ; and they sewed fig leaves and made themselves apronsⓘ.

וישמעו את קול יהוה אלהים מתהלך בגן לרוח היום ויתחבא האדם ואשתו מפני יהוה אלהים בתוך עץ הגן
Καὶ ἤκουσαν τὴν φωνὴν κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ περιπατοῦντος ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ τὸ δειλινόν, καὶ ἐκρύβησαν ὅ τε Αδαμ καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ ξύλου τοῦ παραδείσου.
And they heard the voice of the Tetragrammaton Godⓘ walking in the garden at the breeze of the dayⓘ; and they hid themselves, the man and his wifeⓘ from the presence of the Tetragrammaton God amid the trees of the garden.

ויקרא יהוה אלהים אל האדם ויאמר לו איכה
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὸν Αδαμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Αδαμ, ποῦ εἶ;
And the Tetragrammaton God called the man and said to him: «Where are you?»ⓘ.

ויאמר את קלך שמעתי בגן ואירא כי עירם אנכי ואחבא
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Τὴν φωνήν σου ἤκουσα περιπατοῦντος ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ καὶ ἐφοβήθην, ὅτι γυμνός εἰμι, καὶ ἐκρύβην.
And he said: «I heard your voice in the gardenⓘ and I was afraid, because I am naked, and I hid myself».

ויאמר מי הגיד לך כי עירם אתה המן העץ אשר צויתיך לבלתי אכל ממנו אכלת
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Τίς ἀνήγγειλέν σοι ὅτι γυμνὸς εἶ; μὴ ἀπὸ τοῦ ξύλου, οὗ ἐνετειλάμην σοι τούτου μόνου μὴ φαγεῖν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ, ἔφαγες;
And he said: «Who revealed to you that you are naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I had commanded you not to eat?ⓘ».

ויאמר האדם האשה אשר נתתה עמדי הוא נתנה לי מן העץ ואכל
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ Αδαμ Ἡ γυνή, ἣν ἔδωκας μετ’ ἐμοῦ, αὕτη μοι ἔδωκεν ἀπὸ τοῦ ξύλου, καὶ ἔφαγον.
And the man said: «The woman whom you set beside meⓘ gave me of the tree, and I ate».

ויאמר יהוה אלהים לאשה מה זאת עשית ותאמר האשה הנחש השיאני ואכל
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῇ γυναικί Τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας; καὶ εἶπεν ἡ γυνή Ὁ ὄφις ἠπάτησέν με, καὶ ἔφαγον.
And the Tetragrammaton God said to the woman: «What have you done?». And the woman said: «The serpent deceived meⓘ, and I ate».

ויאמר יהוה אלהים אל הנחש כי עשית זאת ארור אתה מכל הבהמה ומכל חית השדה על גחנך תלך ועפר תאכל כל ימי חייך
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῷ ὄφει Ὅτι ἐποίησας τοῦτο, ἐπικατάρατος σὺ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν θηρίων τῆς γῆς· ἐπὶ τῷ στήθει σου καὶ τῇ κοιλίᾳ πορεύσῃ καὶ γῆν φάγῃ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς σου.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And the Tetragrammaton God said to the serpent: «Because you have done this, cursed are youⓘ among all the animals and among all the beasts of the earth; upon your breast and upon your bellyⓘ you shall go and dust you shall eat all the days of your life».—— Masoretic (MT) ——And the Tetragrammaton God said to the serpent: «Because you have done this, cursed are youⓘ among all the cattle and among all the beasts of the field; upon your bellyⓘ you shall go and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.

ואיבה אשית בינך ובין האשה ובין זרעך ובין זרעה הוא ישופך ראש ואתה תשופנו עקב
καὶ ἔχθραν θήσω ἀνὰ μέσον σου καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς γυναικὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σπέρματός σου καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σπέρματος αὐτῆς· αὐτός σου τηρήσει κεφαλήν, καὶ σὺ τηρήσεις αὐτοῦ πτέρναν.
And I will put enmityⓘ between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed: he shall strike at your headⓘ, and you shall strike at his heelⓘ».

אל האשה אמר הרבה ארבה עצבונך והרנך בעצב תלדי בנים ואל אישך תשוקתך והוא ימשל בך
καὶ τῇ γυναικὶ εἶπεν Πληθύνων πληθυνῶ τὰς λύπας σου καὶ τὸν στεναγμόν σου, ἐν λύπαις τέξῃ τέκνα· καὶ πρὸς τὸν ἄνδρα σου ἡ ἀποστροφή σου, καὶ αὐτός σου κυριεύσει.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And to the woman he said: «Multiplying I will multiplyⓘ your painsⓘ and your groaningⓘ; with pains you shall bring forth children; and toward your man shall be your turningⓘ, and he shall rule over you».—— Masoretic (MT) ——And to the woman he said: «I will greatly multiplyⓘ your pangs and your conceptionsⓘ; with pain you shall bring forth children; and toward your man shall be your desireⓘ, and he shall rule over you».

ולאדם אמר כי שמעת לקול אשתך ותאכל מן העץ אשר צויתיך לאמר לא תאכל ממנו ארורה האדמה בעבורך בעצבון תאכלנה כל ימי חייך
τῷ δὲ Αδαμ εἶπεν Ὅτι ἤκουσας τῆς φωνῆς τῆς γυναικός σου καὶ ἔφαγες ἀπὸ τοῦ ξύλου, οὗ ἐνετειλάμην σοι τούτου μόνου μὴ φαγεῖν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ, ἐπικατάρατος ἡ γῆ ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις σου· ἐν λύπαις φάγῃ αὐτὴν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς σου·
And to the man he said: «Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I had commanded you not to eatⓘ, cursed is the ground because of youⓘ; with 'itzavonⓘ you shall eat of it all the days of your life;

וקוץ ודרדר תצמיח לך ואכלת את עשב השדה
ἀκάνθας καὶ τριβόλους ἀνατελεῖ σοι, καὶ φάγῃ τὸν χόρτον τοῦ ἀγροῦ.
thorns and thistles it shall produce for you, and you shall eat the herb of the fieldⓘ.

בזעת אפיך תאכל לחם עד שובך אל האדמה כי ממנה לקחת כי עפר אתה ואל עפר תשוב
ἐν ἱδρῶτι τοῦ προσώπου σου φάγῃ τὸν ἄρτον σου ἕως τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι σε εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἐξ ἧς ἐλήμφθης· ὅτι γῆ εἶ καὶ εἰς γῆν ἀπελεύσῃ. –
By the sweat of your faceⓘ you shall eat bread, until you return to the ground from which you were taken; dust you are and to dust you shall returnⓘ».

ויקרא האדם שם אשתו חוה כי הוא היתה אם כל חי
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αδαμ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ Ζωή, ὅτι αὕτη μήτηρ πάντων τῶν ζώντων.
And the man called his wife Chavvàⓘ, because she was the mother of every living being.

ויעש יהוה אלהים לאדם ולאשתו כתנות עור וילבשם
Καὶ ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῷ Αδαμ καὶ τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ χιτῶνας δερματίνους καὶ ἐνέδυσεν αὐτούς. –
And the Tetragrammaton God made for the man and his wife tunics of skinⓘ and clothed them.

ויאמר יהוה אלהים הן האדם היה כאחד ממנו לדעת טוב ורע ועתה פן ישלח ידו ולקח גם מעץ החיים ואכל וחי לעלם
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός Ἰδοὺ Αδαμ γέγονεν ὡς εἷς ἐξ ἡμῶν τοῦ γινώσκειν καλὸν καὶ πονηρόν, καὶ νῦν μήποτε ἐκτείνῃ τὴν χεῖρα καὶ λάβῃ τοῦ ξύλου τῆς ζωῆς καὶ φάγῃ καὶ ζήσεται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.
And the Tetragrammaton Godⓘ said: «Behold, the man has become like one of usⓘ, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he stretch out his hand and take also of the tree of lifeⓘ and eat and live forever».

וישלחהו יהוה אלהים מגן עדן לעבד את האדמה אשר לקח משם
καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτὸν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἐκ τοῦ παραδείσου τῆς τρυφῆς ἐργάζεσθαι τὴν γῆν, ἐξ ἧς ἐλήμφθη.
And the Tetragrammaton God sent him away from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.

ויגרש את האדם וישכן מקדם לגן עדן את הכרבים ואת להט החרב המתהפכת לשמר את דרך עץ החיים
καὶ ἐξέβαλεν τὸν Αδαμ καὶ κατῴκισεν αὐτὸν ἀπέναντι τοῦ παραδείσου τῆς τρυφῆς καὶ ἔταξεν τὰ χερουβιμ καὶ τὴν φλογίνην ῥομφαίαν τὴν στρεφομένην φυλάσσειν τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ ξύλου τῆς ζωῆς.
And he drove out the man and placed him to the east of the gardenⓘ; and he placed the cherubimⓘ and the flaming sword that whirledⓘ to guard the way to the tree of life.
