ויהוה פקד את שרה כאשר אמר ויעש יהוה לשרה כאשר דבר
Καὶ κύριος ἐπεσκέψατο τὴν Σαρραν, καθὰ εἶπεν, καὶ ἐποίησεν κύριος τῇ Σαρρα, καθὰ ἐλάλησεν,
And the Tetragrammaton ⓘ Sarah ⓘ — and the Tetragrammaton did to Sarah as he had spoken.

ותהר ותלד שרה לאברהם בן לזקניו למועד אשר דבר אתו אלהים
καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν Σαρρα τῷ Αβρααμ υἱὸν εἰς τὸ γῆρας εἰς τὸν καιρόν, καθὰ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ κύριος.
And Sarah ⓘ to Avràm a son in his old age, at the ⓘ which ⓘ had told him.

ויקרא אברהם את שם בנו הנולד לו אשר ילדה לו שרה יצחק
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αβρααμ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ τοῦ γενομένου αὐτῷ, ὃν ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ Σαρρα, Ισαακ.
And Avràm called the name of the son who had been born to him, whom Sarah had borne him: ⓘ.

וימל אברהם את יצחק בנו בן שמנת ימים כאשר צוה אתו אלהים
περιέτεμεν δὲ Αβρααμ τὸν Ισαακ τῇ ὀγδόῃ ἡμέρᾳ, καθὰ ἐνετείλατο αὐτῷ ὁ θεός.
And Avràm circumcised Yitzhàq his ⓘ, as ⓘ had commanded him.

ואברהם בן מאת שנה בהולד לו את יצחק בנו
Αβρααμ δὲ ἦν ἑκατὸν ἐτῶν, ἡνίκα ἐγένετο αὐτῷ Ισαακ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ.
And Avràm was a son of a hundred years (ben meàt shanàh) when Yitzhàq ⓘ was born to him.

ותאמר שרה צחק עשה לי אלהים כל השמע יצחק לי
εἶπεν δὲ Σαρρα Γέλωτά μοι ἐποίησεν κύριος· ὃς γὰρ ἂν ἀκούσῃ, συγχαρεῖταί μοι.
And Sarah said: ⓘ; **whoever hears it ⓘ.

ותאמר מי מלל לאברהם היניקה בנים שרה כי ילדתי בן לזקניו
καὶ εἶπεν Τίς ἀναγγελεῖ τῷ Αβρααμ ὅτι θηλάζει παιδίον Σαρρα; ὅτι ἔτεκον υἱὸν ἐν τῷ γήρει μου.
And she said: «ⓘ to Avràm: Sarah will nurse ⓘ? Yet I have borne a son in his old age».

ויגדל הילד ויגמל ויעש אברהם משתה גדול ביום הגמל את יצחק
Καὶ ηὐξήθη τὸ παιδίον καὶ ἀπεγαλακτίσθη, καὶ ἐποίησεν Αβρααμ δοχὴν μεγάλην, ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἀπεγαλακτίσθη Ισαακ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ.
And the child grew and was ⓘ; and Avràm made a great banquet (mishtèh) on the day Yitzhàq was weaned ⓘ.

ותרא שרה את בן הגר המצרית אשר ילדה לאברהם מצחק
ἰδοῦσα δὲ Σαρρα τὸν υἱὸν Αγαρ τῆς Αἰγυπτίας, ὃς ἐγένετο τῷ Αβρααμ, παίζοντα μετὰ Ισαακ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And ⓘ saw the son of ⓘ, whom she had borne to ⓘ, ⓘ ⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Sarah saw the son of Hagàr the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Avràm, ⓘ ⓘ.

ותאמר לאברהם גרש האמה הזאת ואת בנה כי לא יירש בן האמה הזאת עם בני עם יצחק
καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Αβρααμ Ἔκβαλε τὴν παιδίσκην ταύτην καὶ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς· οὐ γὰρ κληρονομήσει ὁ υἱὸς τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης μετὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ μου Ισαακ.
And she said to Avràm: «ⓘ this ⓘ and her son, for the son of this amàh shall not inherit (yarash) together with my son, together with Yitzhàq»: the son's name is the final seal of the claim.

וירע הדבר מאד בעיני אברהם על אודת בנו
σκληρὸν δὲ ἐφάνη τὸ ῥῆμα σφόδρα ἐναντίον Αβρααμ περὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ.
And the matter was ⓘ on account of his son.

ויאמר אלהים אל אברהם אל ירע בעיניך על הנער ועל אמתך כל אשר תאמר אליך שרה שמע בקלה כי ביצחק יקרא לך זרע
εἶπεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῷ Αβρααμ Μὴ σκληρὸν ἔστω τὸ ῥῆμα ἐναντίον σου περὶ τοῦ παιδίου καὶ περὶ τῆς παιδίσκης· πάντα, ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃ σοι Σαρρα, ἄκουε τῆς φωνῆς αὐτῆς, ὅτι ἐν Ισαακ κληθήσεταί σοι σπέρμα.
And ⓘ said to Avràm: «ⓘ over the boy and your amàh; whatever Sarah will say to you, ⓘ — for in Yitzhàq seed shall be called to you ⓘ».

וגם את בן האמה לגוי אשימנו כי זרעך הוא
καὶ τὸν υἱὸν δὲ τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης, εἰς ἔθνος μέγα ποιήσω αὐτόν, ὅτι σπέρμα σόν ἐστιν.
«And also the son of the amàh ⓘ, because he is your offspring».

וישכם אברהם בבקר ויקח לחם וחמת מים ויתן אל הגר שם על שכמה ואת הילד וישלחה ותלך ותתע במדבר באר שבע
ἀνέστη δὲ Αβρααμ τὸ πρωῒ καὶ ἔλαβεν ἄρτους καὶ ἀσκὸν ὕδατος καὶ ἔδωκεν Αγαρ καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ἐπὶ τὸν ὦμον καὶ τὸ παιδίον καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτήν. ἀπελθοῦσα δὲ ἐπλανᾶτο τὴν ἔρημον κατὰ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὅρκου.
And Avràm ⓘ and took bread and a skin (chamàt) of water and gave them to Hagàr, ⓘ, and the child, and sent her away. She went and ⓘ in the wilderness of ⓘ.

ויכלו המים מן החמת ותשלך את הילד תחת אחד השיחם
ἐξέλιπεν δὲ τὸ ὕδωρ ἐκ τοῦ ἀσκοῦ, καὶ ἔρριψεν τὸ παιδίον ὑποκάτω μιᾶς ἐλάτης·
And the water of the skin was finished and she cast the child under one of the ⓘ.

ותלך ותשב לה מנגד הרחק כמטחוי קשת כי אמרה אל אראה במות הילד ותשב מנגד ותשא את קלה ותבך
ἀπελθοῦσα δὲ ἐκάθητο ἀπέναντι αὐτοῦ μακρόθεν ὡσεὶ τόξου βολήν· εἶπεν γάρ Οὐ μὴ ἴδω τὸν θάνατον τοῦ παιδίου μου. καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἀπέναντι αὐτοῦ, ἀναβοῆσαν δὲ τὸ παιδίον ἔκλαυσεν.
And she went and sat opposite, ⓘ — for she said: «Let me not see the death of the child». And she sat opposite and ⓘ.

וישמע אלהים את קול הנער ויקרא מלאך אלהים אל הגר מן השמים ויאמר לה מה לך הגר אל תיראי כי שמע אלהים אל קול הנער באשר הוא שם
εἰσήκουσεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῆς φωνῆς τοῦ παιδίου ἐκ τοῦ τόπου, οὗ ἦν, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν Αγαρ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Τί ἐστιν, Αγαρ; μὴ φοβοῦ· ἐπακήκοεν γὰρ ὁ θεὸς τῆς φωνῆς τοῦ παιδίου σου ἐκ τοῦ τόπου, οὗ ἐστιν.
And ⓘ heard the voice of the boy, and the ⓘ of God called Hagàr from heaven and said to her: «What is the matter with you, Hagàr? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the boy ⓘ».

קומי שאי את הנער והחזיקי את ידך בו כי לגוי גדול אשימנו
ἀνάστηθι, λαβὲ τὸ παιδίον καὶ κράτησον τῇ χειρί σου αὐτό· εἰς γὰρ ἔθνος μέγα ποιήσω αὐτόν.
«Arise, lift up the boy and ⓘ, for I will make him a great nation».

ויפקח אלהים את עיניה ותרא באר מים ותלך ותמלא את החמת מים ותשק את הנער
καὶ ἀνέῳξεν ὁ θεὸς τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῆς, καὶ εἶδεν φρέαρ ὕδατος ζῶντος καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἔπλησεν τὸν ἀσκὸν ὕδατος καὶ ἐπότισεν τὸ παιδίον.
And ⓘ and she saw a well of ⓘ; she went, filled the skin with water and gave the boy to drink.
20
ויהי אלהים את הנער ויגדל וישב במדבר ויהי רבה קשת
καὶ ἦν ὁ θεὸς μετὰ τοῦ παιδίου, καὶ ηὐξήθη. καὶ κατῴκησεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ἐγένετο δὲ τοξότης.
And ⓘ; he grew and dwelt in the wilderness and became a ⓘ.
21
וישב במדבר פארן ותקח לו אמו אשה מארץ מצרים
καὶ κατῴκησεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τῇ Φαραν, καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ γυναῖκα ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου.
And he dwelt in the wilderness of ⓘ, and his mother took him a wife from the land of Egypt: the narrative circularity closes — Hagàr the Egyptian obtains for her son an Egyptian bride.

ויהי בעת ההוא ויאמר אבימלך ופיכל שר צבאו אל אברהם לאמר אלהים עמך בכל אשר אתה עשה
Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ καὶ εἶπεν Αβιμελεχ καὶ Οχοζαθ ὁ νυμφαγωγὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ Φικολ ὁ ἀρχιστράτηγος τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ πρὸς Αβρααμ λέγων Ὁ θεὸς μετὰ σοῦ ἐν πᾶσιν, οἷς ἐὰν ποιῇς·
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And it came to pass at that time that ⓘ said, together with ⓘ and ⓘ, to Abraam, saying: «ⓘ in all that you do».—— Masoretic (MT) ——And it came to pass at that time: ⓘ, ⓘ and ⓘ commander of his army, said to Avràm: «ⓘ in all that you do».

ועתה השבעה לי באלהים הנה אם תשקר לי ולניני ולנכדי כחסד אשר עשיתי עמך תעשה עמדי ועם הארץ אשר גרתה בה
νῦν οὖν ὄμοσόν μοι τὸν θεὸν μὴ ἀδικήσειν με μηδὲ τὸ σπέρμα μου μηδὲ τὸ ὄνομά μου, ἀλλὰ κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην, ἣν ἐποίησα μετὰ σοῦ, ποιήσεις μετ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ τῇ γῇ, ᾗ σὺ παρῴκησας ἐν αὐτῇ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——«Now therefore swear to me by God that you will not ⓘ, nor my ⓘ; but ⓘ that I have done with you, you shall do with me and with the land in which you have sojourned as a stranger».—— Masoretic (MT) ——«Now swear it to me by God: you will not ⓘ me, nor my ⓘ; **as the ⓘ that I have done with you, you shall do with me and with the land where you have sojourned».

ויאמר אברהם אנכי אשבע
καὶ εἶπεν Αβρααμ Ἐγὼ ὀμοῦμαι.
And Avràm said: «ⓘ».
25
והוכח אברהם את אבימלך על אדות באר המים אשר גזלו עבדי אבימלך
καὶ ἤλεγξεν Αβρααμ τὸν Αβιμελεχ περὶ τῶν φρεάτων τοῦ ὕδατος, ὧν ἀφείλαντο οἱ παῖδες τοῦ Αβιμελεχ.
And Avràm ⓘ Avimèlekh because of the well of water that ⓘ.

ויאמר אבימלך לא ידעתי מי עשה את הדבר הזה וגם אתה לא הגדת לי וגם אנכי לא שמעתי בלתי היום
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Αβιμελεχ Οὐκ ἔγνων, τίς ἐποίησεν τὸ πρᾶγμα τοῦτο, οὐδὲ σύ μοι ἀπήγγειλας, οὐδὲ ἐγὼ ἤκουσα ἀλλ’ ἢ σήμερον.
And Avimèlekh said: «I do not know who has done this thing; and you did not tell me, and I did not hear of it ⓘ».
27
ויקח אברהם צאן ובקר ויתן לאבימלך ויכרתו שניהם ברית
καὶ ἔλαβεν Αβρααμ πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ ἔδωκεν τῷ Αβιμελεχ, καὶ διέθεντο ἀμφότεροι διαθήκην.
And Avràm took ⓘ and gave them to Avimèlekh, and the two ⓘ.
28
ויצב אברהם את שבע כבשת הצאן לבדהן
καὶ ἔστησεν Αβρααμ ἑπτὰ ἀμνάδας προβάτων μόνας.
And Avràm ⓘ seven ewe-lambs of the flock by themselves.

ויאמר אבימלך אל אברהם מה הנה שבע כבשת האלה אשר הצבת לבדנה
καὶ εἶπεν Αβιμελεχ τῷ Αβρααμ Τί εἰσιν αἱ ἑπτὰ ἀμνάδες τῶν προβάτων τούτων, ἃς ἔστησας μόνας;
And Avimèlekh said to Avràm: «What are these ⓘ that you have set apart by themselves?».
30
ויאמר כי את שבע כבשת תקח מידי בעבור תהיה לי לעדה כי חפרתי את הבאר הזאת
καὶ εἶπεν Αβρααμ ὅτι Τὰς ἑπτὰ ἀμνάδας ταύτας λήμψῃ παρ’ ἐμοῦ, ἵνα ὦσίν μοι εἰς μαρτύριον ὅτι ἐγὼ ὤρυξα τὸ φρέαρ τοῦτο.
And he said: «The seven ewe-lambs you shall take from my hand so that they may be for me a ⓘ that I have ⓘ this well».
31
על כן קרא למקום ההוא באר שבע כי שם נשבעו שניהם
διὰ τοῦτο ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Φρέαρ ὁρκισμοῦ, ὅτι ἐκεῖ ὤμοσαν ἀμφότεροι.
Therefore he called that place ⓘ — because there the two swore.

ויכרתו ברית בבאר שבע ויקם אבימלך ופיכל שר צבאו וישבו אל ארץ פלשתים
καὶ διέθεντο διαθήκην ἐν τῷ φρέατι τοῦ ὅρκου. ἀνέστη δὲ Αβιμελεχ καὶ Οχοζαθ ὁ νυμφαγωγὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ Φικολ ὁ ἀρχιστράτηγος τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν γῆν τῶν Φυλιστιιμ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And ⓘ. Then Abimelech rose, together with ⓘ and ⓘ, and they returned to the land of the Philistines.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And ⓘ; and Avimèlekh rose up ⓘ and Pikòl commander of his army and they returned to the land of the Philistines.

ויטע אשל בבאר שבע ויקרא שם בשם יהוה אל עולם
καὶ ἐφύτευσεν Αβρααμ ἄρουραν ἐπὶ τῷ φρέατι τοῦ ὅρκου καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο ἐκεῖ τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου Θεὸς αἰώνιος.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Abraam ⓘ ⓘ, and there he called upon the name of the ⓘ, ⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And he planted an ⓘ at Beer Sheva, and ⓘ.

ויגר אברהם בארץ פלשתים ימים רבים
παρῴκησεν δὲ Αβρααμ ἐν τῇ γῇ τῶν Φυλιστιιμ ἡμέρας πολλάς.
And Avràm ⓘ in the land of the Philistines many days.
