ויהיו חיי שרה מאה שנה ועשרים שנה ושבע שנים שני חיי שרה
Ἐγένετο δὲ ἡ ζωὴ Σαρρας ἔτη ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι ἑπτά.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And was the life of Saràhⓘ: one hundred and twenty-seven yearsⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And were the years of the life of Saràhⓘ mèah shanàhⓘ and 'esrìm shanàhⓘ and shèva' shanìmⓘ: these were the years of the life of Saràh.

ותמת שרה בקרית ארבע הוא חברון בארץ כנען ויבא אברהם לספד לשרה ולבכתה
καὶ ἀπέθανεν Σαρρα ἐν πόλει Αρβοκ, ἥ ἐστιν ἐν τῷ κοιλώματι [αὕτη ἐστὶν Χεβρων] ἐν γῇ Χανααν. ἦλθεν δὲ Αβρααμ κόψασθαι Σαρραν καὶ πενθῆσαι.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And Saràh died in the city of Arbòkⓘ, which is in the hollowⓘ, it is Chevròn, in the land of Cana'àn. And Avraàm came to beat his breastⓘ for Saràh and to mourn for herⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And Saràh died in Qiryàt Arba'ⓘ — it is Chevròn — in the land of Cana'àn. And Avràhàm came to lispòdⓘ for Saràh and to ùlevakotàhⓘ.

ויקם אברהם מעל פני מתו וידבר אל בני חת לאמר
καὶ ἀνέστη Αβρααμ ἀπὸ τοῦ νεκροῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς υἱοῖς Χετ λέγων
And Avràhàm arose me'al penè metòⓘ and spoke to the benè Chèt saying:

גר ותושב אנכי עמכם תנו לי אחזת קבר עמכם ואקברה מתי מלפני
Πάροικος καὶ παρεπίδημος ἐγώ εἰμι μεθ’ ὑμῶν· δότε οὖν μοι κτῆσιν τάφου μεθ’ ὑμῶν, καὶ θάψω τὸν νεκρόν μου ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ.
«Gèr ve-toshàvⓘ am I among you; give me achuzzàt qèverⓘ thereforeⓘ among you, and I will bury my dead, removing her from my sight.»

ויענו בני חת את אברהם לאמר לו
ἀπεκρίθησαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Χετ πρὸς Αβρααμ λέγοντες
And the benè Chèt answered Avràhàm saying to him:

שמענו אדני נשיא אלהים אתה בתוכנו במבחר קברינו קבר את מתך איש ממנו את קברו לא יכלה ממך מקבר מתך
Μή, κύριε· ἄκουσον δὲ ἡμῶν. βασιλεὺς παρὰ θεοῦ εἶ σὺ ἐν ἡμῖν· ἐν τοῖς ἐκλεκτοῖς μνημείοις ἡμῶν θάψον τὸν νεκρόν σου· οὐδεὶς γὰρ ἡμῶν τὸ μνημεῖον αὐτοῦ κωλύσει ἀπὸ σοῦ τοῦ θάψαι τὸν νεκρόν σου ἐκεῖ.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——«No, lordⓘ, hear us therefore: a king from Godⓘ are you among us; in the choicest tombsⓘ of ours bury your dead; for none of us will withhold his sepulchre from you, preventing you from burying your dead thereⓘ.»—— Masoretic (MT) ——«Hear us, adonì: nesì' Elohìmⓘ are you in our midst; in the mivchàrⓘ of our tombs bury your dead; none of us will withhold his tomb from you, from burying your dead thereⓘ.»

ויקם אברהם וישתחו לעם הארץ לבני חת
ἀναστὰς δὲ Αβρααμ προσεκύνησεν τῷ λαῷ τῆς γῆς, τοῖς υἱοῖς Χετ,
And Avràhàm arose and bowed before the 'am ha'aretz — the sons of Het.

וידבר אתם לאמר אם יש את נפשכם לקבר את מתי מלפני שמעוני ופגעו לי בעפרון בן צחר
καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Αβρααμ λέγων Εἰ ἔχετε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν ὥστε θάψαι τὸν νεκρόν μου ἀπὸ προσώπου μου, ἀκούσατέ μου καὶ λαλήσατε περὶ ἐμοῦ Εφρων τῷ τοῦ Σααρ,
And he spoke with them saying: «If it is 'im yesh et nafshekhemⓘ that I bury my dead, removing her from my sight — hear me and intercede for me with 'Efròn ben Tzòchar,

ויתן לי את מערת המכפלה אשר לו אשר בקצה שדהו בכסף מלא יתננה לי בתוככם לאחזת קבר
καὶ δότω μοι τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ διπλοῦν, ὅ ἐστιν αὐτῷ, τὸ ὂν ἐν μέρει τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτοῦ· ἀργυρίου τοῦ ἀξίου δότω μοι αὐτὸ ἐν ὑμῖν εἰς κτῆσιν μνημείου.
and let him cede to me the Me'aràt haMachelàhⓘ which is his, at the edge of his field; bekesef malèⓘ let him cede it to me, in your midst, as a burial property.»

ועפרון ישב בתוך בני חת ויען עפרון החתי את אברהם באזני בני חת לכל באי שער עירו לאמר
Εφρων δὲ ἐκάθητο ἐν μέσῳ τῶν υἱῶν Χετ· ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Εφρων ὁ Χετταῖος πρὸς Αβρααμ εἶπεν ἀκουόντων τῶν υἱῶν Χετ καὶ πάντων τῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς τὴν πόλιν λέγων
And 'Efròn was sitting in the midst of the sons of Het; and 'Efròn the Hittite answered Avràhàm in the hearing of the sons of Het — of all those who entered the gate of his cityⓘ — saying:

לא אדני שמעני השדה נתתי לך והמערה אשר בו לך נתתיה לעיני בני עמי נתתיה לך קבר מתך
Παρ ἐμοὶ γενοῦ, κύριε, καὶ ἄκουσόν μου. τὸν ἀγρὸν καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ ἐν αὐτῷ σοι δίδωμι· ἐναντίον πάντων τῶν πολιτῶν μου δέδωκά σοι· θάψον τὸν νεκρόν σου.
«No, adonì, hear me: the fieldⓘ natàttì lekhaⓘ, and the cave that is in it I have given to you, in the eyes of the sons of my peopleⓘ I give it to you: bury your dead.»

וישתחו אברהם לפני עם הארץ
καὶ προσεκύνησεν Αβρααμ ἐναντίον τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς
And Avràhàm bowed before the 'am ha'aretz.

וידבר אל עפרון באזני עם הארץ לאמר אך אם אתה לו שמעני נתתי כסף השדה קח ממני ואקברה את מתי שמה
καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Εφρων εἰς τὰ ὦτα τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς Ἐπειδὴ πρὸς ἐμοῦ εἶ, ἄκουσόν μου· τὸ ἀργύριον τοῦ ἀγροῦ λαβὲ παρ’ ἐμοῦ, καὶ θάψω τὸν νεκρόν μου ἐκεῖ.
And he spoke to 'Efròn in the hearing of the people of the land saying: «Akh im attàh lòⓘ — hear me: I give the silver for the fieldⓘ; take it from me and I will bury my dead there.»

ויען עפרון את אברהם לאמר לו
ἀπεκρίθη δὲ Εφρων τῷ Αβρααμ λέγων
And 'Efròn answered Avràhàm saying to him:
15
אדני שמעני ארץ ארבע מאת שקל כסף ביני ובינך מה הוא ואת מתך קבר
Οὐχί, κύριε· ἀκήκοα. γῆ τετρακοσίων διδράχμων ἀργυρίου, ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ τί ἂν εἴη τοῦτο; σὺ δὲ τὸν νεκρόν σου θάψον.
«Adonì, hear me: a land of arba' me'ot sheqel kesefⓘ — between me and you, what is it? — and bury your dead.»

וישמע אברהם אל עפרון וישקל אברהם לעפרן את הכסף אשר דבר באזני בני חת ארבע מאות שקל כסף עבר לסחר
καὶ ἤκουσεν Αβρααμ τοῦ Εφρων, καὶ ἀπεκατέστησεν Αβρααμ τῷ Εφρων τὸ ἀργύριον, ὃ ἐλάλησεν εἰς τὰ ὦτα τῶν υἱῶν Χετ, τετρακόσια δίδραχμα ἀργυρίου δοκίμου ἐμπόροις.
And Avràhàm listened to 'Efròn, and Avràhàm weighed outⓘ to 'Efròn the silver of which he had spoken in the hearing of the sons of Het: arba' me'ot sheqel kesef 'over lassocherⓘ — four hundred shekels of certified silver, current among the merchants.

ויקם שדה עפרון אשר במכפלה אשר לפני ממרא השדה והמערה אשר בו וכל העץ אשר בשדה אשר בכל גבלו סביב
καὶ ἔστη ὁ ἀγρὸς Εφρων, ὃς ἦν ἐν τῷ διπλῷ σπηλαίῳ, ὅς ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Μαμβρη, ὁ ἀγρὸς καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον, ὃ ἦν ἐν αὐτῷ, καὶ πᾶν δένδρον, ὃ ἦν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ, ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τοῖς ὁρίοις αὐτοῦ κύκλῳ,
And vayaqomⓘ the field of 'Efròn that is in the Machelàh facing Mamrè — the field and the cave that is in it and all the trees of the field within all its borders round aboutⓘ —

לאברהם למקנה לעיני בני חת בכל באי שער עירו
τῷ Αβρααμ εἰς κτῆσιν ἐναντίον τῶν υἱῶν Χετ καὶ πάντων τῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς τὴν πόλιν.
to Avràhàm as a lemiqnèhⓘ, in the eyes of the sons of Het, of all those who entered the gate of his city.

ואחרי כן קבר אברהם את שרה אשתו אל מערת שדה המכפלה על פני ממרא הוא חברון בארץ כנען
μετὰ ταῦτα ἔθαψεν Αβρααμ Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ σπηλαίῳ τοῦ ἀγροῦ τῷ διπλῷ, ὅ ἐστιν ἀπέναντι Μαμβρη [αὕτη ἐστὶν Χεβρων] ἐν τῇ γῇ Χανααν.
And after this Avràhàm buried Saràh his wife in the cave of the field of the Machelàh facing Mamrè — it is Chevròn — in the land of Cana'àn.

ויקם השדה והמערה אשר בו לאברהם לאחזת קבר מאת בני חת
καὶ ἐκυρώθη ὁ ἀγρὸς καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον, ὃ ἦν ἐν αὐτῷ, τῷ Αβρααμ εἰς κτῆσιν τάφου παρὰ τῶν υἱῶν Χετ.
And vayaqomⓘ the field and the cave that is in it to Avràhàm as achuzzàt qèver — a burial property — me'èt benè Chètⓘ.
