ויהי אברם בן תשעים שנה ותשע שנים וירא יהוה אל אברם ויאמר אליו אני אל שדי התהלך לפני והיה תמים
Ἐγένετο δὲ Αβραμ ἐτῶν ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα, καὶ ὤφθη κύριος τῷ Αβραμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ θεός σου· εὐαρέστει ἐναντίον ἐμοῦ καὶ γίνου ἄμεμπτος,
And Avràmⓘ was ninety-nine years oldⓘ, and the Tetragrammaton appearedⓘ to Avràm and said to him: «I am El Shaddàiⓘ; walk before meⓘ and be blamelessⓘ».

ואתנה בריתי ביני ובינך וארבה אותך במאד מאד
καὶ θήσομαι τὴν διαθήκην μου ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον σοῦ καὶ πληθυνῶ σε σφόδρα.
«And I will set my covenantⓘ between me and you, and I will multiply you exceedinglyⓘ».

ויפל אברם על פניו וידבר אתו אלהים לאמר
καὶ ἔπεσεν Αβραμ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεὸς λέγων
And Avràm fell with his face to the groundⓘ, and Godⓘ spoke with him saying:

אני הנה בריתי אתך והיית לאב המון גוים
Καὶ ἐγὼ ἰδοὺ ἡ διαθήκη μου μετὰ σοῦ, καὶ ἔσῃ πατὴρ πλήθους ἐθνῶν.
«I, behold, my covenant is with youⓘ, and you shall be father of a multitude of nationsⓘ.

ולא יקרא עוד את שמך אברם והיה שמך אברהם כי אב המון גוים נתתיך
καὶ οὐ κληθήσεται ἔτι τὸ ὄνομά σου Αβραμ, ἀλλ’ ἔσται τὸ ὄνομά σου Αβρααμ, ὅτι πατέρα πολλῶν ἐθνῶν τέθεικά σε.
And your name shall no longer be called Avràm, but your name shall be Avrahàmⓘ, for father of a multitude of nations I have made youⓘ.

והפרתי אתך במאד מאד ונתתיך לגוים ומלכים ממך יצאו
καὶ αὐξανῶ σε σφόδρα σφόδρα καὶ θήσω σε εἰς ἔθνη, καὶ βασιλεῖς ἐκ σοῦ ἐξελεύσονται.
And I will make you exceedingly fruitfulⓘ and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come forth from you.

והקמתי את בריתי ביני ובינך ובין זרעך אחריך לדרתם לברית עולם להיות לך לאלהים ולזרעך אחריך
καὶ στήσω τὴν διαθήκην μου ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σπέρματός σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς γενεὰς αὐτῶν εἰς διαθήκην αἰώνιον εἶναί σου θεὸς καὶ τοῦ σπέρματός σου μετὰ σέ.
And I will establish my covenantⓘ between me and you and your seed after you, throughout their generations, an eternal covenantⓘ, to be God to you and to your seed after you.

ונתתי לך ולזרעך אחריך את ארץ מגריך את כל ארץ כנען לאחזת עולם והייתי להם לאלהים
καὶ δώσω σοι καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου μετὰ σὲ τὴν γῆν, ἣν παροικεῖς, πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Χανααν, εἰς κατάσχεσιν αἰώνιον καὶ ἔσομαι αὐτοῖς θεός. –
And I will give to you and to your seed after you the land of your sojourningsⓘ, all the land of Kena'an, as a perpetual possessionⓘ, and I will be their God».

ויאמר אלהים אל אברהם ואתה את בריתי תשמר אתה וזרעך אחריך לדרתם
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Αβρααμ Σὺ δὲ τὴν διαθήκην μου διατηρήσεις, σὺ καὶ τὸ σπέρμα σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς τὰς γενεὰς αὐτῶν.
And God said to Avrahàm: «And you, my covenant you shall keepⓘ, you and your seed after you, throughout their generations.

זאת בריתי אשר תשמרו ביני וביניכם ובין זרעך אחריך המול לכם כל זכר
καὶ αὕτη ἡ διαθήκη, ἣν διατηρήσεις, ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ὑμῶν καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σπέρματός σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς τὰς γενεὰς αὐτῶν· περιτμηθήσεται ὑμῶν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν,
This is my covenant which you shall keep between me and you and your seed after you: let every male among you be circumcisedⓘ.
11
ונמלתם את בשר ערלתכם והיה לאות ברית ביני וביניכם
καὶ περιτμηθήσεσθε τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας ὑμῶν, καὶ ἔσται ἐν σημείῳ διαθήκης ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ὑμῶν.
And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskinⓘ, and this shall be the sign of the covenantⓘ between me and you.

ובן שמנת ימים ימול לכם כל זכר לדרתיכם יליד בית ומקנת כסף מכל בן נכר אשר לא מזרעך הוא
καὶ παιδίον ὀκτὼ ἡμερῶν περιτμηθήσεται ὑμῖν πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν, ὁ οἰκογενὴς τῆς οἰκίας σου καὶ ὁ ἀργυρώνητος ἀπὸ παντὸς υἱοῦ ἀλλοτρίου, ὃς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματός σου.
And at the age of eight daysⓘ every male among you shall be circumcised, throughout your generations: the one born in the houseⓘ and the one bought with money from any son of a stranger who is not of your seed.

המול ימול יליד ביתך ומקנת כספך והיתה בריתי בבשרכם לברית עולם
περιτομῇ περιτμηθήσεται ὁ οἰκογενὴς τῆς οἰκίας σου καὶ ὁ ἀργυρώνητος, καὶ ἔσται ἡ διαθήκη μου ἐπὶ τῆς σαρκὸς ὑμῶν εἰς διαθήκην αἰώνιον.
He shall surely be circumcised, the one born in your house and the one bought with your money, and my covenant shall be in your flesh, an eternal covenant.

וערל זכר אשר לא ימול את בשר ערלתו ונכרתה הנפש ההוא מעמיה את בריתי הפר
καὶ ἀπερίτμητος ἄρσην, ὃς οὐ περιτμηθήσεται τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτοῦ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ὀγδόῃ, ἐξολεθρευθήσεται ἡ ψυχὴ ἐκείνη ἐκ τοῦ γένους αὐτῆς, ὅτι τὴν διαθήκην μου διεσκέδασεν.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And the uncircumcisedⓘ male, who has not circumcised the flesh of his foreskin on the eighth dayⓘ, that life shall be exterminatedⓘ from its kin, because it has dissolved my covenantⓘ.—— Masoretic (MT) ——And the uncircumcisedⓘ male, who has not circumcised the flesh of his foreskin on the eighth dayⓘ, that person shall be cut offⓘ from its people: it has broken my covenantⓘ».

ויאמר אלהים אל אברהם שרי אשתך לא תקרא את שמה שרי כי שרה שמה
Εἶπεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῷ Αβρααμ Σαρα ἡ γυνή σου, οὐ κληθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς Σαρα, ἀλλὰ Σαρρα ἔσται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς.
And God said to Avrahàm: «Saràj your wife, call her name no longer Saràj, for Saràhⓘ is her name.

וברכתי אתה וגם נתתי ממנה לך בן וברכתיה והיתה לגוים מלכי עמים ממנה יהיו
εὐλογήσω δὲ αὐτὴν καὶ δώσω σοι ἐξ αὐτῆς τέκνον· καὶ εὐλογήσω αὐτόν, καὶ ἔσται εἰς ἔθνη, καὶ βασιλεῖς ἐθνῶν ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἔσονται.
—— Septuagint (LXX) ——And I will bless her, and I will give you a child from herⓘ; and I will bless himⓘ, and he shall become nationsⓘ, and kings of nations shall come forth from himⓘ».—— Masoretic (MT) ——And I will bless her, and also I will give you a son from herⓘ; I will bless herⓘ, and she shall become mother of nationsⓘ; kings of peoples shall be born from her».

ויפל אברהם על פניו ויצחק ויאמר בלבו הלבן מאה שנה יולד ואם שרה הבת תשעים שנה תלד
καὶ ἔπεσεν Αβρααμ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον καὶ ἐγέλασεν καὶ εἶπεν ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ αὐτοῦ λέγων Εἰ τῷ ἑκατονταετεῖ γενήσεται, καὶ εἰ Σαρρα ἐνενήκοντα ἐτῶν οὖσα τέξεται;
And Avrahàm fell with his face to the ground and laughedⓘ and said in his heartⓘ: «To a man of a hundred years shall a son be born? And Saràh, who is ninety years old, shall she bear?».

ויאמר אברהם אל האלהים לו ישמעאל יחיה לפניך
εἶπεν δὲ Αβρααμ πρὸς τὸν θεόν Ισμαηλ οὗτος ζήτω ἐναντίον σου.
And Avrahàm said to God: «Oh, may Yishmaʿèl live before you!ⓘ».

ויאמר אלהים אבל שרה אשתך ילדת לך בן וקראת את שמו יצחק והקמתי את בריתי אתו לברית עולם לזרעו אחריו
εἶπεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῷ Αβρααμ Ναί· ἰδοὺ Σαρρα ἡ γυνή σου τέξεταί σοι υἱόν, καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ισαακ, καὶ στήσω τὴν διαθήκην μου πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰς διαθήκην αἰώνιον καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτόν.
And God said: «Trulyⓘ, Saràh your wife shall bear you a sonⓘ, and you shall call his name Yitzchàqⓘ; and I will establish my covenant with him, an eternal covenant, for his seed after him.

ולישמעאל שמעתיך הנה ברכתי אתו והפריתי אתו והרביתי אתו במאד מאד שנים עשר נשיאם יוליד ונתתיו לגוי גדול
περὶ δὲ Ισμαηλ ἰδοὺ ἐπήκουσά σου· ἰδοὺ εὐλόγησα αὐτὸν καὶ αὐξανῶ αὐτὸν καὶ πληθυνῶ αὐτὸν σφόδρα· δώδεκα ἔθνη γεννήσει, καὶ δώσω αὐτὸν εἰς ἔθνος μέγα.
And concerning Yishmaʿèl, I have heard you: behold, I have blessed him and I will make him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly; twelve princesⓘ he shall beget, and I will make him into a great nation.
21
ואת בריתי אקים את יצחק אשר תלד לך שרה למועד הזה בשנה האחרת
τὴν δὲ διαθήκην μου στήσω πρὸς Ισαακ, ὃν τέξεταί σοι Σαρρα εἰς τὸν καιρὸν τοῦτον ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ τῷ ἑτέρῳ.
But my covenant I will establish with Yitzchàq, whom Saràh shall bear to you at this seasonⓘ, in the coming year».

ויכל לדבר אתו ויעל אלהים מעל אברהם
συνετέλεσεν δὲ λαλῶν πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἀνέβη ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ Αβρααμ.
And he finished speaking with himⓘ, and God went up, departing from Avrahàm.

ויקח אברהם את ישמעאל בנו ואת כל ילידי ביתו ואת כל מקנת כספו כל זכר באנשי בית אברהם וימל את בשר ערלתם בעצם היום הזה כאשר דבר אתו אלהים
Καὶ ἔλαβεν Αβρααμ Ισμαηλ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς οἰκογενεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀργυρωνήτους καὶ πᾶν ἄρσεν τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Αβρααμ καὶ περιέτεμεν τὰς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης, καθὰ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ ὁ θεός.
And Avrahàm took his son Yishmaʿèl and all those born in his house and all those bought with his money, every male among the men of Avrahàm's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskinⓘ on that very dayⓘ, as God had spoken to him.

ואברהם בן תשעים ותשע שנה בהמלו בשר ערלתו
Αβρααμ δὲ ἦν ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα ἐτῶν, ἡνίκα περιέτεμεν τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτοῦ·
And Avrahàm was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25
וישמעאל בנו בן שלש עשרה שנה בהמלו את בשר ערלתו
Ισμαηλ δὲ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἐτῶν δέκα τριῶν ἦν, ἡνίκα περιετμήθη τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτοῦ.
And Yishmaʿèl his son was thirteen years oldⓘ when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26
בעצם היום הזה נמול אברהם וישמעאל בנו
ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης περιετμήθη Αβρααμ καὶ Ισμαηλ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ·
On that very day Avrahàm and Yishmaʿèl his son were circumcised.
27
וכל אנשי ביתו יליד בית ומקנת כסף מאת בן נכר נמלו אתו
καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ οἰκογενεῖς καὶ οἱ ἀργυρώνητοι ἐξ ἀλλογενῶν ἐθνῶν, περιέτεμεν αὐτούς.
And all the men of his house, the one born in the house and the one bought with money from the son of the strangerⓘ, were circumcised together with him.
