Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς χωρίον οὗ τὸ ὄνομα Γεθσημανί, καὶ λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ· Καθίσατε ὧδε ἕως προσεύξωμαι.
Giunsero a un podere chiamato Getsèmani ed egli disse ai suoi discepoli: «Sedetevi qui, mentre io prego».
He came to Gethsemaneⓘ: «Sit here while I pray».

καὶ παραλαμβάνει τὸν Πέτρον καὶ ⸂Ἰάκωβον καὶ⸃ Ἰωάννην μετ’ ⸀αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἤρξατο ἐκθαμβεῖσθαι καὶ ἀδημονεῖν,
Prese con sé Pietro, Giacomo e Giovanni e cominciò a sentire paura e angoscia.
He took Peter, James, and John and began to feel dismay and anguishⓘ.

καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Περίλυπός ἐστιν ἡ ψυχή μου ἕως θανάτου· μείνατε ὧδε καὶ γρηγορεῖτε.
Disse loro: «La mia anima è triste fino alla morte. Restate qui e vegliate».
«My soul is sorrowful unto deathⓘ; remain and keep watch».

καὶ ⸂προελθὼν μικρὸν ἔπιπτεν⸃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ προσηύχετο ἵνα εἰ δυνατόν ἐστιν παρέλθῃ ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἡ ὥρα,
Poi, andato un po' innanzi, cadde a terra e pregava che, se fosse possibile, passasse via da lui quell'ora.
He fell to the ground praying that, if possible, that hourⓘ might pass.

καὶ ἔλεγεν· Αββα ὁ πατήρ, πάντα δυνατά σοι· παρένεγκε τὸ ποτήριον ⸂τοῦτο ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ⸃· ἀλλ’ οὐ τί ἐγὼ θέλω ἀλλὰ τί σύ.
E diceva: «Abbà! Padre! Tutto è possibile a te: allontana da me questo calice! Però non ciò che voglio io, ma ciò che vuoi tu».
«Abba, Fatherⓘ! All things are possible to you: take this cup away from meⓘ; yet not what I will, but what you willⓘ».

καὶ ἔρχεται καὶ εὑρίσκει αὐτοὺς καθεύδοντας, καὶ λέγει τῷ Πέτρῳ· Σίμων, καθεύδεις; οὐκ ἴσχυσας μίαν ὥραν γρηγορῆσαι;
Poi venne, li trovò addormentati e disse a Pietro: «Simone, dormi? Non sei riuscito a vegliare una sola ora?
He found the three asleep: «Simon, are you sleepingⓘ? Could you not keep watch one hour?

γρηγορεῖτε καὶ προσεύχεσθε, ἵνα μὴ ⸀ἔλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν· τὸ μὲν πνεῦμα πρόθυμον ἡ δὲ σὰρξ ἀσθενής.
Vegliate e pregate per non entrare in tentazione; lo spirito è pronto, ma la carne è debole».
Watch and pray so as not to enter into temptationⓘ: the spirit is willing, the flesh weakⓘ».

καὶ πάλιν ἀπελθὼν προσηύξατο τὸν αὐτὸν λόγον εἰπών.
Si allontanò di nuovo e pregò dicendo le stesse parole.

καὶ ⸂πάλιν ἐλθὼν εὗρεν αὐτοὺς⸃ καθεύδοντας, ἦσαν γὰρ ⸂αὐτῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ⸃ ⸀καταβαρυνόμενοι, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδεισαν τί ⸂ἀποκριθῶσιν αὐτῷ⸃.
Poi venne di nuovo e li trovò addormentati, perché i loro occhi si erano fatti pesanti, e non sapevano che cosa rispondergli.

καὶ ἔρχεται τὸ τρίτον καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Καθεύδετε ⸀τὸ λοιπὸν καὶ ἀναπαύεσθε· ἀπέχει· ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα, ἰδοὺ παραδίδοται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν.
Venne per la terza volta e disse loro: «Dormite pure e riposatevi! Basta! È venuta l'ora: ecco, il Figlio dell'uomo viene consegnato nelle mani dei peccatori.
The third time: «The hour has come: the Son of Man is handed over into the hands of sinnersⓘ.

ἐγείρεσθε ἄγωμεν· ἰδοὺ ὁ παραδιδούς με ἤγγικεν.
Alzatevi, andiamo! Ecco, colui che mi tradisce è vicino».
Rise up: the one who betrays me is near».
