Ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἵνα μὴ σκανδαλισθῆτε.
'Vi ho detto queste cose perché non abbiate a scandalizzarvi.
«These things I have spoken to you so that you may not be scandalized — that you may not stumble, not fall into the skandalon skandalonⓘ, occasion of apostasy.

ἀποσυναγώγους ποιήσουσιν ὑμᾶς· ἀλλ' ἔρχεται ὥρα ἵνα πᾶς ὁ ἀποκτείνας ὑμᾶς δόξῃ λατρείαν προσφέρειν τῷ θεῷ.
Vi scacceranno dalle sinagoghe; anzi, viene l'ora in cui chiunque vi ucciderà crederà di rendere culto a Dio.
They will make you excluded from the synagogue excluded from the synagogueⓘ; indeed, the hour comes the hour comesⓘ when whoever has killed you will think to offer a sacred service offer a sacred serviceⓘ to God.

καὶ ταῦτα ποιήσουσιν ὅτι οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὸν πατέρα οὐδὲ ἐμέ.
E faranno ciò, perché non hanno conosciuto né il Padre né me.
And they will do these things because they did not know they did not knowⓘ either the Father or me.

ἀλλὰ ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἵνα ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἡ ὥρα αὐτῶν μνημονεύητε αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐγὼ εἶπον ὑμῖν. Ταῦτα δὲ ὑμῖν ἐξ ἀρχῆς οὐκ εἶπον, ὅτι μεθ' ὑμῶν ἤμην.
Ma vi ho detto queste cose affinché, quando verrà la loro ora, ve ne ricordiate, perché io ve l'ho detto. Non ve l'ho detto dal principio, perché ero con voi.'
But these things I have spoken to you so that, when their hour comes their hourⓘ, you may remember you may rememberⓘ, that I told you of them. These things, however, I did not tell you from the beginning from the beginningⓘ, because I was with you.»
