Ἀπεκρίνατο οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ ⸀ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ δύναται ὁ υἱὸς ποιεῖν ἀφ’ ἑαυτοῦ οὐδὲν ⸀ἐὰν μή τι βλέπῃ τὸν πατέρα ποιοῦντα· ἃ γὰρ ἂν ἐκεῖνος ποιῇ, ταῦτα καὶ ὁ υἱὸς ὁμοίως ποιεῖ.
Gesù riprese a parlare e disse loro: «In verità, in verità io vi dico: il Figlio da se stesso non può fare nulla, se non ciò che vede fare dal Padre; quello che egli fa, anche il Figlio lo fa allo stesso modo.
Jesus therefore answered and said to them: «Amen, amen, I say to you: the Son can do nothing of himself, except what he seesⓘ the Father do; for whatever the Father does, the Son likewise does as well.

ὁ γὰρ πατὴρ φιλεῖ τὸν υἱὸν καὶ πάντα δείκνυσιν αὐτῷ ἃ αὐτὸς ποιεῖ, καὶ μείζονα τούτων δείξει αὐτῷ ἔργα, ἵνα ὑμεῖς θαυμάζητε.
Il Padre infatti ama il Figlio, gli manifesta tutto quello che fa e gli manifesterà opere ancora più grandi di queste, perché voi ne siate meravigliati.
For the Father lovesⓘ the Son and shows him all that he does, and he will show him worksⓘ greater than these, so that you may marvel.

ὥσπερ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἐγείρει τοὺς νεκροὺς καὶ ζῳοποιεῖ, οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς οὓς θέλει ζῳοποιεῖ.
Come il Padre risuscita i morti e dà la vita, così anche il Figlio dà la vita a chi vuole.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also the Son gives life to whom he wills.

οὐδὲ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ κρίνει οὐδένα, ἀλλὰ τὴν κρίσιν πᾶσαν δέδωκεν τῷ υἱῷ,
Il Padre infatti non giudica nessuno, ma ha dato ogni giudizio al Figlio,
For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Sonⓘ,

ἵνα πάντες τιμῶσι τὸν υἱὸν καθὼς τιμῶσι τὸν πατέρα. ὁ μὴ τιμῶν τὸν υἱὸν οὐ τιμᾷ τὸν πατέρα τὸν πέμψαντα αὐτόν.
perché tutti onorino il Figlio come onorano il Padre. Chi non onora il Figlio, non onora il Padre che lo ha mandato.
so that all may honorⓘ the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sentⓘ him.

Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὁ τὸν λόγον μου ἀκούων καὶ πιστεύων τῷ πέμψαντί με ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον, καὶ εἰς κρίσιν οὐκ ἔρχεται ἀλλὰ μεταβέβηκεν ἐκ τοῦ θανάτου εἰς τὴν ζωήν.
In verità, in verità io vi dico: chi ascolta la mia parola e crede a colui che mi ha mandato, ha la vita eterna e non va incontro al giudizio, ma è passato dalla morte alla vita.
Amen, amen, I say to you: whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal lifeⓘ and does not come into judgment, but has passedⓘ from death to life.

Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα καὶ νῦν ἐστιν ὅτε οἱ νεκροὶ ⸀ἀκούσουσιν τῆς φωνῆς τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀκούσαντες ⸀ζήσουσιν.
In verità, in verità io vi dico: viene l'ora — ed è questa — in cui i morti udranno la voce del Figlio di Dio e quelli che l'avranno ascoltata, vivranno.
Amen, amen, I say to you: the hour is coming — and now is — when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who have heard it will live.

μὴ θαυμάζετε τοῦτο, ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα ἐν ᾗ πάντες οἱ ἐν τοῖς μνημείοις ⸀ἀκούσουσιν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ
Non meravigliatevi di questo: viene l'ora in cui tutti coloro che sono nei sepolcri udranno la sua voce
Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombsⓘ will hear his voice

καὶ ἐκπορεύσονται οἱ τὰ ἀγαθὰ ποιήσαντες εἰς ἀνάστασιν ζωῆς, οἱ ⸀δὲ τὰ φαῦλα πράξαντες εἰς ἀνάστασιν κρίσεως.
e ne usciranno: quanti fecero il bene per una risurrezione di vita e quanti fecero il male per una risurrezione di condanna.
and will come out: those who did good to a resurrection of lifeⓘ, those who did evil to a resurrection of judgment.

Οὐ δύναμαι ἐγὼ ποιεῖν ἀπ’ ἐμαυτοῦ οὐδέν· καθὼς ἀκούω κρίνω, καὶ ἡ κρίσις ἡ ἐμὴ δικαία ἐστίν, ὅτι οὐ ζητῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός ⸀με.
Da me stesso non posso fare nulla. Giudico secondo quello che ascolto e il mio giudizio è giusto, perché non cerco la mia volontà, ma la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato.
I can do nothing of myself: as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of him who sent me.

ἐγὼ δὲ ἔχω τὴν μαρτυρίαν ⸀μείζω τοῦ Ἰωάννου, τὰ γὰρ ἔργα ἃ ⸀δέδωκέν μοι ὁ πατὴρ ἵνα τελειώσω αὐτά, αὐτὰ τὰ ἔργα ⸀ἃ ποιῶ, μαρτυρεῖ περὶ ἐμοῦ ὅτι ὁ πατήρ με ἀπέσταλκεν,
Io ho una testimonianza superiore a quella di Giovanni: le opere che il Padre mi ha dato da compiere testimoniano che il Padre mi ha mandato.
But I have a testimony greater than that of John: the worksⓘ that the Father has given me to bring to completion, these works that I do bear witness of me, that the Father has sentⓘ me.

Ἐραυνᾶτε τὰς γραφάς, ὅτι ὑμεῖς δοκεῖτε ἐν αὐταῖς ζωὴν αἰώνιον ἔχειν· καὶ ἐκεῖναί εἰσιν αἱ μαρτυροῦσαι περὶ ἐμοῦ·
Voi scrutate le Scritture, pensando di avere in esse la vita eterna: sono proprio esse che danno testimonianza di me.
You searchⓘ the Scripturesⓘ, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and they are the very ones that testify of me;

καὶ οὐ θέλετε ἐλθεῖν πρός με ἵνα ζωὴν ἔχητε.
Ma voi non volete venire a me per avere la vita.
and you are not willing to come to me to have life.
45
μὴ δοκεῖτε ὅτι ἐγὼ κατηγορήσω ὑμῶν πρὸς τὸν πατέρα· ἔστιν ὁ κατηγορῶν ὑμῶν Μωϋσῆς, εἰς ὃν ὑμεῖς ἠλπίκατε.
Non crediate che sarò io ad accusarvi davanti al Padre; vi è già chi vi accusa: Mosè, nel quale riponete la vostra speranza.
Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father: there is one who accuses you, Mosesⓘ, in whom you have hoped.

εἰ γὰρ ἐπιστεύετε Μωϋσεῖ, ἐπιστεύετε ἂν ἐμοί, περὶ γὰρ ἐμοῦ ἐκεῖνος ἔγραψεν.
Se infatti credeste a Mosè, credereste anche a me; perché egli ha scritto di me.
For if you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wroteⓘ of me.

εἰ δὲ τοῖς ἐκείνου γράμμασιν οὐ πιστεύετε, πῶς τοῖς ἐμοῖς ῥήμασιν πιστεύσετε;
Ma se non credete ai suoi scritti, come crederete alle mie parole?».
But if you do not believe his writingsⓘ, how will you believe my wordsⓘ?».
