GreekἈπεκρίνατο οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ ⸀ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ δύναται ὁ υἱὸς ποιεῖν ἀφ’ ἑαυτοῦ οὐδὲν ⸀ἐὰν μή τι βλέπῃ τὸν πατέρα ποιοῦντα· ἃ γὰρ ἂν ἐκεῖνος ποιῇ, ταῦτα καὶ ὁ υἱὸς ὁμοίως ποιεῖ.
Gnostic TranslationGesù riprese a parlare e disse loro: «In verità, in verità io vi dico: il Figlio da se stesso non può fare nulla, se non ciò che vede fare dal Padre; quello che egli fa, anche il Figlio lo fa allo stesso modo.
Orthodox ReadingJesus therefore answered and said to them: «Amen, amen, I say to you: the Son can do nothing of himself, except what he seesⓘ the Father do; for whatever the Father does, the Son likewise does as well.

Greekὁ γὰρ πατὴρ φιλεῖ τὸν υἱὸν καὶ πάντα δείκνυσιν αὐτῷ ἃ αὐτὸς ποιεῖ, καὶ μείζονα τούτων δείξει αὐτῷ ἔργα, ἵνα ὑμεῖς θαυμάζητε.
Gnostic TranslationIl Padre infatti ama il Figlio, gli manifesta tutto quello che fa e gli manifesterà opere ancora più grandi di queste, perché voi ne siate meravigliati.
Orthodox ReadingFor the Father lovesⓘ the Son and shows him all that he does, and he will show him worksⓘ greater than these, so that you may marvel.

Greekὥσπερ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἐγείρει τοὺς νεκροὺς καὶ ζῳοποιεῖ, οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς οὓς θέλει ζῳοποιεῖ.
Gnostic TranslationCome il Padre risuscita i morti e dà la vita, così anche il Figlio dà la vita a chi vuole.
Orthodox ReadingFor just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also the Son gives life to whom he wills.

Greekἵνα πάντες τιμῶσι τὸν υἱὸν καθὼς τιμῶσι τὸν πατέρα. ὁ μὴ τιμῶν τὸν υἱὸν οὐ τιμᾷ τὸν πατέρα τὸν πέμψαντα αὐτόν.
Gnostic Translationperché tutti onorino il Figlio come onorano il Padre. Chi non onora il Figlio, non onora il Padre che lo ha mandato.
Orthodox Readingso that all may honorⓘ the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sentⓘ him.

GreekἈμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὁ τὸν λόγον μου ἀκούων καὶ πιστεύων τῷ πέμψαντί με ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον, καὶ εἰς κρίσιν οὐκ ἔρχεται ἀλλὰ μεταβέβηκεν ἐκ τοῦ θανάτου εἰς τὴν ζωήν.
Gnostic TranslationIn verità, in verità io vi dico: chi ascolta la mia parola e crede a colui che mi ha mandato, ha la vita eterna e non va incontro al giudizio, ma è passato dalla morte alla vita.
Orthodox ReadingAmen, amen, I say to you: whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal lifeⓘ and does not come into judgment, but has passedⓘ from death to life.

GreekἈμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα καὶ νῦν ἐστιν ὅτε οἱ νεκροὶ ⸀ἀκούσουσιν τῆς φωνῆς τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀκούσαντες ⸀ζήσουσιν.
Gnostic TranslationIn verità, in verità io vi dico: viene l'ora — ed è questa — in cui i morti udranno la voce del Figlio di Dio e quelli che l'avranno ascoltata, vivranno.
Orthodox ReadingAmen, amen, I say to you: the hour is coming — and now is — when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who have heard it will live.

Gnostic TranslationNon meravigliatevi di questo: viene l'ora in cui tutti coloro che sono nei sepolcri udranno la sua voce

Greekκαὶ ἐκπορεύσονται οἱ τὰ ἀγαθὰ ποιήσαντες εἰς ἀνάστασιν ζωῆς, οἱ ⸀δὲ τὰ φαῦλα πράξαντες εἰς ἀνάστασιν κρίσεως.
Gnostic Translatione ne usciranno: quanti fecero il bene per una risurrezione di vita e quanti fecero il male per una risurrezione di condanna.
Orthodox Readingand will come out: those who did good to a resurrection of lifeⓘ, those who did evil to a resurrection of judgment.

GreekΟὐ δύναμαι ἐγὼ ποιεῖν ἀπ’ ἐμαυτοῦ οὐδέν· καθὼς ἀκούω κρίνω, καὶ ἡ κρίσις ἡ ἐμὴ δικαία ἐστίν, ὅτι οὐ ζητῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός ⸀με.
Gnostic TranslationDa me stesso non posso fare nulla. Giudico secondo quello che ascolto e il mio giudizio è giusto, perché non cerco la mia volontà, ma la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato.
Orthodox ReadingI can do nothing of myself: as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of him who sent me.

Gnostic TranslationIo ho una testimonianza superiore a quella di Giovanni: le opere che il Padre mi ha dato da compiere testimoniano che il Padre mi ha mandato.
Orthodox ReadingBut I have a testimony greater than that of John: the worksⓘ that the Father has given me to bring to completion, these works that I do bear witness of me, that the Father has sentⓘ me.

GreekἘραυνᾶτε τὰς γραφάς, ὅτι ὑμεῖς δοκεῖτε ἐν αὐταῖς ζωὴν αἰώνιον ἔχειν· καὶ ἐκεῖναί εἰσιν αἱ μαρτυροῦσαι περὶ ἐμοῦ·
Gnostic TranslationVoi scrutate le Scritture, pensando di avere in esse la vita eterna: sono proprio esse che danno testimonianza di me.

Gnostic TranslationNon crediate che sarò io ad accusarvi davanti al Padre; vi è già chi vi accusa: Mosè, nel quale riponete la vostra speranza.
Orthodox ReadingDo not think that I will accuse you before the Father: there is one who accuses you, Mosesⓘ, in whom you have hoped.

Greekεἰ γὰρ ἐπιστεύετε Μωϋσεῖ, ἐπιστεύετε ἂν ἐμοί, περὶ γὰρ ἐμοῦ ἐκεῖνος ἔγραψεν.
Gnostic TranslationSe infatti credeste a Mosè, credereste anche a me; perché egli ha scritto di me.
Orthodox ReadingFor if you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wroteⓘ of me.
