Greekνῦν δὲ ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πέμψαντά με, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐρωτᾷ με· Ποῦ ὑπάγεις;
Orthodox Reading«But now I am going — I ascend to the Father through glorification — to the one who sentⓘ me, to the Father who sent me as šaliaḥ (the envoy with full mandate): according to the practice of šliḥut, the envoy returns to the sender once the mission is accomplished. Yet none of you asksⓘ me: «Where are you going?»

Greekἀλλ' ὅτι ταῦτα λελάληκα ὑμῖν ἡ λύπη πεπλήρωκεν ὑμῶν τὴν καρδίαν.
Orthodox Readingbut because I have told you these things, griefⓘ has filledⓘ your heartⓘ.

Greekἀλλ' ἐγὼ τὴν ἀλήθειαν λέγω ὑμῖν, συμφέρει ὑμῖν ἵνα ἐγὼ ἀπέλθω. ἐὰν γὰρ μὴ ἀπέλθω, ὁ παράκλητος οὐκ ἐλεύσεται πρὸς ὑμᾶς· ἐὰν δὲ πορευθῶ, πέμψω αὐτὸν πρὸς ὑμᾶς.
Orthodox ReadingBut I tell you the truthⓘ: it is to your advantageⓘ that I go awayⓘ; for if I do not go away, the Paracleteⓘ will not come to you; but if I go away, I will sendⓘ him to you.

Greekὅταν δὲ ἔλθῃ ἐκεῖνος, τὸ πνεῦμα τῆς ἀληθείας, ὁδηγήσει ὑμᾶς ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ πάσῃ· οὐ γὰρ λαλήσει ἀφ' ἑαυτοῦ, ἀλλ' ὅσα ἀκούσει λαλήσει, καὶ τὰ ἐρχόμενα ἀναγγελεῖ ὑμῖν.
Orthodox ReadingWhen that one comes, the Spirit of truthⓘ, he will guideⓘ you into all the truth; for he will not speak of himselfⓘ, but whatever he hears he will speak, and the things to comeⓘ he will announceⓘ to you.

Greekἐκεῖνος ἐμὲ δοξάσει, ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ ἐμοῦ λήμψεται καὶ ἀναγγελεῖ ὑμῖν.
