ὅτε ἤμην μετ' αὐτῶν ἐγὼ ἐτήρουν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ᾧ δέδωκάς μοι, καὶ ἐφύλαξα, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀπώλετο εἰ μὴ ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας, ἵνα ἡ γραφὴ πληρωθῇ.
'Quand'ero con loro, io li custodivo nel tuo nome, quello che mi hai dato, e li ho conservati, e nessuno di loro è andato perduto, tranne il figlio della perdizione, perché si compisse la Scrittura.
«When I was with them, I keptⓘ them in your Nameⓘ, that Name you gave me, and I preservedⓘ them, and none of them was lostⓘ except the son of perditionⓘ, that the Scriptureⓘ might be fulfilled.

νῦν δὲ πρὸς σὲ ἔρχομαι, καὶ ταῦτα λαλῶ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ἵνα ἔχωσιν τὴν χαρὰν τὴν ἐμὴν πεπληρωμένην ἐν ἑαυτοῖς.
Ma ora io vengo a te e dico questo mentre sono nel mondo, perché abbiano in se stessi la pienezza della mia gioia.
But now I come to youⓘ, and these things I speakⓘ in the worldⓘ that they may have my joy made fullⓘ in themselves.

ἐγὼ δέδωκα αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον σου, καὶ ὁ κόσμος ἐμίσησεν αὐτούς, ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶν ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου καθὼς ἐγὼ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου.
Io ho dato loro la tua parola e il mondo li ha odiati, perché essi non sono del mondo, come io non sono del mondo.
I have given themⓘ your wordⓘ, and the world hated themⓘ, because they are not of the worldⓘ, as I am not of the world.

οὐκ ἐρωτῶ ἵνα ἄρῃς αὐτοὺς ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου, ἀλλ' ἵνα τηρήσῃς αὐτοὺς ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ.
Non prego che tu li tolga dal mondo, ma che tu li custodisca dal Maligno.
I do not ask that you takeⓘ them out of the world, but that you keepⓘ them from the Evil Oneⓘ.

ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου οὐκ εἰσὶν καθὼς ἐγὼ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου.
Essi non sono del mondo, come io non sono del mondo.
Of the world they are notⓘ as I am not of the world.

ἁγίασον αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ· ὁ λόγος ὁ σὸς ἀλήθειά ἐστιν.
Consacrali nella verità. La tua parola è verità.
Sanctify themⓘ in the truthⓘ: your word is truth.

καθὼς ἐμὲ ἀπέστειλας εἰς τὸν κόσμον, κἀγὼ ἀπέστειλα αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν κόσμον·
Come tu hai mandato me nel mondo, anche io ho mandato loro nel mondo;
As you sentⓘ meⓘ into the world, so I too sentⓘ them into the world — the sent one (shaliaḥ)ⓘ.

καὶ ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν ἐγὼ ἁγιάζω ἐμαυτόν, ἵνα ὦσιν καὶ αὐτοὶ ἡγιασμένοι ἐν ἀληθείᾳ.
per loro io consacro me stesso, perché siano anch'essi consacrati nella verità.'
And for themⓘ I sanctifyⓘ myselfⓘ, that they too may be sanctifiedⓘ in the truth».
