Orthodox Reading«There is a boy here who has five barley loavesⓘ and two fish — just as in the typos of Elisha (2 Kings 4:42-44)ⓘ, where a prophet feeds many with a few barley loaves; but what is this for so many?».

Greek⸀εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ποιήσατε τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἀναπεσεῖν. ἦν δὲ χόρτος πολὺς ἐν τῷ τόπῳ. ἀνέπεσαν οὖν οἱ ἄνδρες τὸν ἀριθμὸν ⸀ὡς πεντακισχίλιοι.
Orthodox ReadingJesus said: «Have the men reclineⓘ». There was much grassⓘ in that place. So the menⓘ reclined, about five thousand in number.

GreekἸησοῦς οὖν γνοὺς ὅτι μέλλουσιν ἔρχεσθαι καὶ ἁρπάζειν αὐτὸν ἵνα ⸀ποιήσωσιν βασιλέα ἀνεχώρησεν ⸀πάλιν εἰς τὸ ὄρος αὐτὸς μόνος.
Orthodox ReadingJesus then, knowing that they were about to come to seize him to make him kingⓘ, withdrew again to the mountain, he aloneⓘ.
