Μικρὸν καὶ οὐκέτι θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με.
'Un poco e non mi vedrete più; un poco ancora e mi vedrete'.
«A little whileⓘ and you will no longer seeⓘ me, and again a little while and you will seeⓘ me».

εἶπαν οὖν ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς ἀλλήλους· Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο ὃ λέγει ἡμῖν· Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με; καί· Ὅτι ὑπάγω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα;
Allora alcuni dei suoi discepoli dissero tra loro: 'Che cos'è questo che ci dice: 'Un poco e non mi vedrete; un poco ancora e mi vedrete', e: 'Io me ne vado al Padre'?'.
Some of his disciplesⓘ therefore said among themselves: «What is this that he tells us: A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me? And: I go to the Fatherⓘ?».

ἔλεγον οὖν· Τί ἐστιν τοῦτο ὃ λέγει· Τὸ μικρόν; οὐκ οἴδαμεν τί λαλεῖ.
Dicevano perciò: 'Che cos'è questo 'un poco' di cui parla? Non comprendiamo quello che vuol dire'.
They were saying therefore: «What is this «little while» of which he speaks? We do not knowⓘ what he is talking about».

ἔγνω Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἤθελον αὐτὸν ἐρωτᾶν, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Περὶ τούτου ζητεῖτε μετ' ἀλλήλων ὅτι εἶπον· Μικρὸν καὶ οὐ θεωρεῖτέ με, καὶ πάλιν μικρὸν καὶ ὄψεσθέ με;
Gesù capì che volevano interrogarlo e disse loro: 'State indagando tra voi perché ho detto: 'Un poco e non mi vedrete; un poco ancora e mi vedrete'?
Jesus knewⓘ that they wanted to question him, and he said to them: «About this do you inquireⓘ among yourselves, that I said: A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me?

ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι κλαύσετε καὶ θρηνήσετε ὑμεῖς, ὁ δὲ κόσμος χαρήσεται· ὑμεῖς λυπηθήσεσθε, ἀλλ' ἡ λύπη ὑμῶν εἰς χαρὰν γενήσεται.
In verità, in verità io vi dico: voi piangerete e gemerete, ma il mondo si rallegrerà. Voi sarete nella tristezza, ma la vostra tristezza si cambierà in gioia.
Amèn, amèn, I say to youⓘ: you will weep and lamentⓘ, the worldⓘ however will rejoiceⓘ; you will be made sorrowfulⓘ, but your sorrow will become joyⓘ.

ἡ γυνὴ ὅταν τίκτῃ λύπην ἔχει, ὅτι ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα αὐτῆς· ὅταν δὲ γεννήσῃ τὸ παιδίον, οὐκέτι μνημονεύει τῆς θλίψεως διὰ τὴν χαρὰν ὅτι ἐγεννήθη ἄνθρωπος εἰς τὸν κόσμον.
La donna, quando partorisce, è nel dolore, perché è venuta la sua ora; ma, quando ha dato alla luce il bambino, non si ricorda più della sofferenza, per la gioia che è venuto al mondo un uomo.
The womanⓘ, when she gives birthⓘ, has sorrow, because her hourⓘ has come; but when she has brought forthⓘ the child, she no longer remembers the sufferingⓘ, for the joy that a human being has been bornⓘ into the world.

καὶ ὑμεῖς οὖν νῦν μὲν λύπην ἔχετε· πάλιν δὲ ὄψομαι ὑμᾶς, καὶ χαρήσεται ὑμῶν ἡ καρδία, καὶ τὴν χαρὰν ὑμῶν οὐδεὶς αἴρει ἀφ' ὑμῶν.
Così anche voi, ora, siete nel dolore; ma vi vedrò di nuovo e il vostro cuore si rallegrerà e nessuno potrà togliervi la vostra gioia.
You also therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you againⓘ, and your heartⓘ will rejoice, and your joy no one takesⓘ from you.

καὶ ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἐρωτήσετε οὐδέν. ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἄν τι αἰτήσητε τὸν πατέρα ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου δώσει ὑμῖν.
Quel giorno non mi domanderete più nulla. In verità, in verità io vi dico: se chiederete qualche cosa al Padre nel mio nome, egli ve la darà.
And in that dayⓘ you will question me about nothing. Amèn, amèn, I say to youⓘ: if you askⓘ the Father in my Nameⓘ for anything, he will give it to you.

ἕως ἄρτι οὐκ ᾐτήσατε οὐδὲν ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου· αἰτεῖτε καὶ λήμψεσθε, ἵνα ἡ χαρὰ ὑμῶν ᾖ πεπληρωμένη.
Finora non avete chiesto nulla nel mio nome. Chiedete e otterrete, perché la vostra gioia sia piena.'
Until now you have not askedⓘ for anything in my Name; askⓘ and you will receive, so that your joy may be filledⓘ.»
