Orthodox ReadingThen the woman, a Samaritan of the Shomronim Shomronitⓘ, says to him: «How is it that you, who are a Jew of the Yehudim Yehudiⓘ, ask a drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman?». For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans, on account of ritual purity (taharah): the shomronot women were held to be in a state of perennial niddah, permanent menstrual impurity taharahⓘ.

Greekοἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ προσεκύνησαν· καὶ ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις ἐστὶν ὁ τόπος ὅπου προσκυνεῖν δεῖ.
Orthodox ReadingOur fathers worshiped worshipedⓘ on this mountain, the Gerizim mountainⓘ, and you say that at Jerusalem, in the Temple of the kohanim kohanimⓘ, is the place where one must worship».

Greekλέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πίστευέ μοι, γύναι, ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα ὅτε οὔτε ἐν τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ οὔτε ἐν Ἱεροσολύμοις προσκυνήσετε τῷ πατρί.
Orthodox ReadingJesus says to her: «Believe me, woman: an hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor at Jerusalem will you worship the Father Fatherⓘ.

Greekὑμεῖς προσκυνεῖτε ὃ οὐκ οἴδατε· ἡμεῖς προσκυνοῦμεν ὃ οἴδαμεν, ὅτι ἡ σωτηρία ἐκ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ἐστίν.
