Εἶπον οὖν πρὸς αὐτόν· Κύριε, πάντοτε δὸς ἡμῖν τὸν ἄρτον τοῦτον.
Allora gli dissero: 'Signore, dacci sempre questo pane'.
They said therefore to him: «Lord, give us alwaysⓘ this bread».

εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος τῆς ζωῆς· ὁ ἐρχόμενος πρὸς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ πεινάσῃ, καὶ ὁ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ διψήσει πώποτε.
Gesù rispose loro: 'Io sono il pane della vita; chi viene a me non avrà fame e chi crede in me non avrà sete, mai!
Jesus said to them: «I amⓘ the bread of life; whoever comes to me will not hungerⓘ, and whoever believes in me will never thirstⓘ, ever.

ἀλλ' εἶπον ὑμῖν ὅτι καὶ ἑωράκατέ με καὶ οὐ πιστεύετε.
Vi ho detto però che voi mi avete visto, eppure non credete.
But I have told you that you have indeed seenⓘ me and you do not believe.
37
Πᾶν ὃ δίδωσίν μοι ὁ πατὴρ πρὸς ἐμὲ ἥξει, καὶ τὸν ἐρχόμενον πρός με οὐ μὴ ἐκβάλω ἔξω,
Tutto ciò che il Padre mi dà, verrà a me: colui che viene a me, io non lo caccerò fuori,
All that the Father givesⓘ me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast outⓘ,

ὅτι καταβέβηκα ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐχ ἵνα ποιῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με.
perché sono disceso dal cielo non per fare la mia volontà, ma la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato.
because I have come down from heavenⓘ not to do my own will, but the willⓘ of the one who sentⓘ me.

τοῦτο δέ ἐστιν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με, ἵνα πᾶν ὃ δέδωκέν μοι μὴ ἀπολέσω ἐξ αὐτοῦ, ἀλλὰ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸ τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.
E questa è la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato: che io non perda nulla di quanto egli mi ha dato, ma che lo risusciti nell'ultimo giorno.
And this is the will of the one who sent me: that of all he has given me I lose nothingⓘ, but raise it upⓘ on the last dayⓘ.

τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου, ἵνα πᾶς ὁ θεωρῶν τὸν υἱὸν καὶ πιστεύων εἰς αὐτὸν ἔχῃ ζωὴν αἰώνιον, καὶ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν ἐγὼ τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.
Questa infatti è la volontà del Padre mio: che chiunque vede il Figlio e crede in lui abbia la vita eterna; e io lo risusciterò nell'ultimo giorno'.
For this is the will of my Father: that everyone who seesⓘ the Son and believes in him may have eternal lifeⓘ; and I will raise him up on the last day».

Ἐγόγγυζον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι περὶ αὐτοῦ ὅτι εἶπεν· Ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος ὁ καταβὰς ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ,
Allora i Giudei si misero a mormorare contro di lui perché aveva detto: 'Io sono il pane disceso dal cielo'.
The Judean authoritiesⓘ therefore were grumblingⓘ about him because he had said: «I am the bread come down from heaven»,

καὶ ἔλεγον· Οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς ὁ υἱὸς Ἰωσήφ, οὗ ἡμεῖς οἴδαμεν τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα; πῶς νῦν λέγει ὅτι Ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβέβηκα;
E dicevano: 'Costui non è forse Gesù, il figlio di Giuseppe? Di lui non conosciamo il padre e la madre? Come dunque può dire: 'Sono disceso dal cielo'?'.
and they were saying: «Is this not Jesus the son of Josephⓘ, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say: 'From heaven I have come down'?».

ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Μὴ γογγύζετε μετ' ἀλλήλων.
Gesù rispose loro: 'Non mormorate tra voi.
Jesus answered and said to them: «Do not grumble among yourselves.
44
οὐδεὶς δύναται ἐλθεῖν πρός με ἐὰν μὴ ὁ πατὴρ ὁ πέμψας με ἑλκύσῃ αὐτόν, κἀγὼ ἀναστήσω αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ.
Nessuno può venire a me, se non lo attira il Padre che mi ha mandato; e io lo risusciterò nell'ultimo giorno.
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me drawsⓘ him, and I will raise him up on the last day.

ἔστιν γεγραμμένον ἐν τοῖς προφήταις· Καὶ ἔσονται πάντες διδακτοὶ θεοῦ· πᾶς ὁ ἀκούσας παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ μαθὼν ἔρχεται πρὸς ἐμέ.
Sta scritto nei profeti: E tutti saranno istruiti da Dio. Chiunque ha ascoltato il Padre e ha imparato da lui, viene a me.
It is writtenⓘ in the prophets: 'And they shall all be taught by Godⓘ'. Everyone who has heardⓘ from the Father and has learnedⓘ, comes to me.

οὐχ ὅτι τὸν πατέρα ἑώρακέν τις εἰ μὴ ὁ ὢν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ, οὗτος ἑώρακεν τὸν πατέρα.
Non perché qualcuno abbia visto il Padre; solo colui che viene da Dio ha visto il Padre.
Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the one who is from Godⓘ: he has seen the Father.

ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὁ πιστεύων ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον.
In verità, in verità io vi dico: chi crede ha la vita eterna.
Amen, amen, I say to youⓘ: whoever believes hasⓘ eternal life.
48
ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος τῆς ζωῆς.
Io sono il pane della vita.
I am the bread of life.
49
οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ἔφαγον ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τὸ μάννα καὶ ἀπέθανον·
I vostri padri hanno mangiato la manna nel deserto e sono morti;
Your fathersⓘ ate the mannaⓘ in the desertⓘ and they diedⓘ;

οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβαίνων, ἵνα τις ἐξ αὐτοῦ φάγῃ καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ.
questo è il pane che discende dal cielo, perché chi ne mangia non muoia.
this is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not dieⓘ.

ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἄρτος ὁ ζῶν ὁ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καταβάς· ἐάν τις φάγῃ ἐκ τούτου τοῦ ἄρτου ζήσει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, καὶ ὁ ἄρτος δὲ ὃν ἐγὼ δώσω ἡ σάρξ μού ἐστιν ὑπὲρ τῆς τοῦ κόσμου ζωῆς.
Io sono il pane vivo, disceso dal cielo. Se uno mangia di questo pane vivrà in eterno e il pane che io darò è la mia carne per la vita del mondo'.
I am the livingⓘ bread, come down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread he will live foreverⓘ, and the bread that I will give is my fleshⓘ for the life of the worldⓘ».
