Ἐπειδήπερ πολλοὶ ἐπεχείρησαν ἀνατάξασθαι διήγησιν περὶ τῶν πεπληροφορημένων ἐν ἡμῖν πραγμάτων,

Poiché molti hanno cercato di raccontare con ordine gli avvenimenti che si sono compiuti in mezzo a noi,

Since many have undertakenⓘ to compose an ordered narrativeⓘ of the events brought to fulfillment among usⓘ,

καθὼς παρέδοσαν ἡμῖν οἱ ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς αὐτόπται καὶ ὑπηρέται γενόμενοι τοῦ λόγου,

come ce li hanno trasmessi coloro che ne furono testimoni oculari fin da principio e divennero ministri della Parola,

just as they were handed downⓘ to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the Wordⓘ,

ἔδοξε κἀμοὶ παρηκολουθηκότι ἄνωθεν πᾶσιν ἀκριβῶς καθεξῆς σοι γράψαι, κράτιστε Θεόφιλε,

così anch'io ho deciso di fare ricerche accurate su ogni circostanza, fin dagli inizi, e di scriverne un resoconto ordinato per te, illustre Teofilo,

it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely and accurately from the originⓘ, to write them out for you in orderⓘ, most excellent Theophilusⓘ,

ἵνα ἐπιγνῷς περὶ ὧν κατηχήθης λόγων τὴν ἀσφάλειαν.
