Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν σαββάτῳ διαπορεύεσθαι αὐτὸν διὰ σπορίμων, καὶ ἔτιλλον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤσθιον τοὺς στάχυας ψώχοντες ταῖς χερσίν.
Un sabato Gesù passava fra campi di grano e i suoi discepoli coglievano e mangiavano le spighe, sfregandole con le mani.
Now it happened that, on a Shabbat Shabbatⓘ, he was passing through sown fields sown fieldsⓘ, and his disciples disciplesⓘ were plucking and eating the ears of grain were plucking the earsⓘ, rubbing them with their hands: at issue was whether this constituted melakhah melakhahⓘ, labor forbidden on the day of rest.

τινὲς δὲ τῶν Φαρισαίων εἶπαν· Τί ποιεῖτε ὃ οὐκ ἔξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν;
Alcuni farisei dissero: «Perché fate in giorno di sabato quello che non è lecito?».
Some of the Pharisees (perushim), the observant ones set apart for purity perushimⓘ, said: «Why do you do what is not lawful is not lawfulⓘ on Shabbat?».

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς πρὸς αὐτοὺς εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Οὐδὲ τοῦτο ἀνέγνωτε ὃ ἐποίησεν Δαυὶδ ὅτε ἐπείνασεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μετ' αὐτοῦ;
Gesù rispose loro: «Non avete letto ciò che fece Davide, quando lui e i suoi compagni ebbero fame?
And, answering them, Jesus said: «Have you not read even this have you not readⓘ — what David did when he was hungry, he and those with him?

εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως λαβὼν ἔφαγεν καὶ ἔδωκεν τοῖς μετ' αὐτοῦ, οὓς οὐκ ἔξεστιν φαγεῖν εἰ μὴ μόνους τοὺς ἱερεῖς;
Come entrò nella casa di Dio, prese i pani dell'offerta, ne mangiò e ne diede ai suoi compagni, sebbene non sia lecito mangiarli se non ai soli sacerdoti?».
How he entered the house of God house of Godⓘ and, having taken the bread of the presentation, the lechem ha-panim lechem ha-panimⓘ, ate [it] and gave [some] to those with him, [bread] which it is not lawful to eat except for the priests (kohanim) kohanimⓘ alone?».

καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Κύριός ἐστιν τοῦ σαββάτου ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.
E diceva loro: «Il Figlio dell'uomo è signore del sabato».
And he said to them: «Lord of the Sabbath Lord of the Sabbathⓘ is the Son of Man Son of Manⓘ».
