Καὶ ὡς ἀπήγαγον αὐτόν, ἐπιλαβόμενοι Σίμωνά τινα Κυρηναῖον ἐρχόμενον ἀπ' ἀγροῦ ἐπέθηκαν αὐτῷ τὸν σταυρὸν φέρειν ὄπισθεν τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.
Mentre lo conducevano via, fermarono un certo Simone di Cirene, che tornava dai campi, e gli misero addosso la croce, da portare dietro a Gesù.
As they led him awayⓘ, they seized a certain Simon of Cyreneⓘ, who was coming from the fieldsⓘ, and they laid upon him the crossⓘ to carry behind Jesusⓘ.

Ἠκολούθει δὲ αὐτῷ πολὺ πλῆθος τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ γυναικῶν αἳ ἐκόπτοντο καὶ ἐθρήνουν αὐτόν.
Lo seguiva una grande moltitudine di popolo e di donne, che si battevano il petto e facevano lamenti su di lui.
A great multitude of the peopleⓘ was followingⓘ him, and womenⓘ who were beating their breastsⓘ and making lament over himⓘ.

στραφεὶς δὲ πρὸς αὐτὰς [ὁ] Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Θυγατέρες Ἰερουσαλήμ, μὴ κλαίετε ἐπ' ἐμέ· πλὴν ἐφ' ἑαυτὰς κλαίετε καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν,
Ma Gesù, voltandosi verso di loro, disse: «Figlie di Gerusalemme, non piangete su di me, ma piangete su voi stesse e sui vostri figli.
But Jesus, turningⓘ toward them, said: «Daughters of Jerusalemⓘ, do not weep over me; weep rather over yourselvesⓘ and over your children,

ὅτι ἰδοὺ ἔρχονται ἡμέραι ἐν αἷς ἐροῦσιν· Μακάριαι αἱ στεῖραι καὶ αἱ κοιλίαι αἳ οὐκ ἐγέννησαν καὶ μαστοὶ οἳ οὐκ ἔθρεψαν.
Ecco, verranno giorni nei quali si dirà: 'Beate le sterili, i grembi che non hanno generato e i seni che non hanno allattato'.
for, beholdⓘ, days are coming in which they will say: 'Blessed are the barrenⓘ, the wombs that did not bear and the breasts that did not nurse'.

τότε ἄρξονται λέγειν τοῖς ὄρεσιν· Πέσετε ἐφ' ἡμᾶς, καὶ τοῖς βουνοῖς· Καλύψατε ἡμᾶς·
Allora cominceranno a dire ai monti: 'Cadete su di noi!', e alle colline: 'Copriteci!'.
Then they will begin to say to the mountains: 'Fall on us!', and to the hills: 'Cover us!'ⓘ.

ὅτι εἰ ἐν τῷ ὑγρῷ ξύλῳ ταῦτα ποιοῦσιν, ἐν τῷ ξηρῷ τί γένηται;
Perché, se si tratta così il legno verde, che avverrà del legno secco?».
For, if they do this to the green woodⓘ, what will become of the dry woodⓘ?».
