GreekἘγένετο δὲ ἐν ἑτέρῳ σαββάτῳ εἰσελθεῖν αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν καὶ διδάσκειν· καὶ ἦν ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖ καὶ ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ἡ δεξιὰ ἦν ξηρά.
Orthodox ReadingAnd it came to pass on another Shabbatⓘ that he entered the synagogueⓘ and began to teachⓘ; and there was there a manⓘ whose right handⓘ was withered — a case of pikuach nefesh that is not urgent, a sick man not in danger of lifeⓘ.

Greekπαρετηροῦντο δὲ αὐτὸν οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι εἰ ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ θεραπεύει, ἵνα εὕρωσιν κατηγορεῖν αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingAnd the soferim (the scribes) soferimⓘ and the perushim (the Pharisees) perushimⓘ watchedⓘ him, to spy whether on the day of Shabbat he would perform a cureⓘ: for that ailment was not a case of pikuach nefeshⓘ, the act was suspected of melakhahⓘ, so that they might find something of which to accuse himⓘ.

Greekαὐτὸς δὲ ᾔδει τοὺς διαλογισμοὺς αὐτῶν, εἶπεν δὲ τῷ ἀνδρὶ τῷ ξηρὰν ἔχοντι τὴν χεῖρα· Ἔγειρε καὶ στῆθι εἰς τὸ μέσον· καὶ ἀναστὰς ἔστη.
Orthodox ReadingBut he knew their reasoningsⓘ, and said to the man who had the withered hand: «Arise and stand forth in the midst»; and he, having risen, stood in the midst.

Greekεἶπεν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς πρὸς αὐτούς· Ἐπερωτῶ ὑμᾶς εἰ ἔξεστιν τῷ σαββάτῳ ἀγαθοποιῆσαι ἢ κακοποιῆσαι, ψυχὴν σῶσαι ἢ ἀπολέσαι;
Orthodox ReadingThen Jesus said toward them: «I ask you: is it lawfulⓘ on the day of Shabbat to do goodⓘ or to do evil, to save a life or to let it perish?».

Greekκαὶ περιβλεψάμενος πάντας αὐτοὺς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρά σου. ὁ δὲ ἐποίησεν καὶ ἀπεκατεστάθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingAnd, having looked around at them all, he said to the man: «Stretch out your hand»; and he did so, and his hand was restoredⓘ.

Greekαὐτοὶ δὲ ἐπλήσθησαν ἀνοίας καὶ διελάλουν πρὸς ἀλλήλους τί ἂν ποιήσαιεν τῷ Ἰησοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingBut they were filled with senseless fury senseless furyⓘ and discussedⓘ among themselves what they might do to Jesus.
