Ἐπηρώτων δὲ αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ τίς αὕτη εἴη ἡ παραβολή.

I suoi discepoli lo interrogavano sul significato della parabola.

His disciplesⓘ kept asking him what this parableⓘ might mean.

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ὑμῖν δέδοται γνῶναι τὰ μυστήρια τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ, τοῖς δὲ λοιποῖς ἐν παραβολαῖς, ἵνα βλέποντες μὴ βλέπωσιν καὶ ἀκούοντες μὴ συνιῶσιν.

Ed egli disse: «A voi è dato conoscere i misteri del regno di Dio, ma agli altri solo con parabole, affinché vedendo non vedano e ascoltando non comprendano.

And he said: «To you it has been given it has been givenⓘ to know the mysteriesⓘ of the Kingdom of Godⓘ, while to the others it is in parables, so that seeing they may not see and hearing they may not understandⓘ.

Ἔστιν δὲ αὕτη ἡ παραβολή· Ὁ σπόρος ἐστὶν ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ.

Il significato della parabola è questo: il seme è la parola di Dio.

This, then, is the mashal: the seed is the Word of God, the davarⓘ.

οἱ δὲ παρὰ τὴν ὁδόν εἰσιν οἱ ἀκούσαντες, εἶτα ἔρχεται ὁ διάβολος καὶ αἴρει τὸν λόγον ἀπὸ τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν, ἵνα μὴ πιστεύσαντες σωθῶσιν.

I semi caduti lungo la strada sono coloro che l'hanno ascoltata, ma poi viene il diavolo e porta via la Parola dal loro cuore, perché non avvenga che, credendo, siano salvati.

Those along the path are those who have heard; but then comes the accuserⓘ and takes the Word from their heart, so that they may not believe and be saved.

οἱ δὲ ἐπὶ τῆς πέτρας οἳ ὅταν ἀκούσωσιν μετὰ χαρᾶς δέχονται τὸν λόγον, καὶ οὗτοι ῥίζαν οὐκ ἔχουσιν, οἳ πρὸς καιρὸν πιστεύουσιν καὶ ἐν καιρῷ πειρασμοῦ ἀφίστανται.

Quelli sulla pietra sono coloro che, quando ascoltano, ricevono la Parola con gioia, ma non hanno radici; credono per un certo tempo, ma nel tempo della prova vengono meno.

Those on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the Word with joy, but they have no rootⓘ: they believe for a time, but in the moment of trialⓘ they fall awayⓘ.

τὸ δὲ εἰς τὰς ἀκάνθας πεσόν, οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ ἀκούσαντες, καὶ ὑπὸ μεριμνῶν καὶ πλούτου καὶ ἡδονῶν τοῦ βίου πορευόμενοι συμπνίγονται καὶ οὐ τελεσφοροῦσιν.

Quello caduto in mezzo ai rovi sono coloro che, dopo aver ascoltato, strada facendo si lasciano soffocare da preoccupazioni, ricchezze e piaceri della vita e non giungono a maturazione.

That which fell among the thornsⓘ represents those who have heard, but as they go their way they are chokedⓘ by the cares, the riches and the pleasures of life, and they do not come to bear ripe fruitⓘ.

τὸ δὲ ἐν τῇ καλῇ γῇ, οὗτοί εἰσιν οἵτινες ἐν καρδίᾳ καλῇ καὶ ἀγαθῇ ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον κατέχουσιν καὶ καρποφοροῦσιν ἐν ὑπομονῇ.

Quello sul terreno buono sono coloro che, dopo aver ascoltato la Parola con cuore integro e buono, la custodiscono e producono frutto con perseveranza.

But that in the good soil are those who, having heard the Word with a good and noble heartⓘ, hold it fastⓘ and bear fruit in perseveranceⓘ.»
