Καλὸν οὖν τὸ ἅλας· ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τὸ ἅλας μωρανθῇ, ἐν τίνι ἀρτυθήσεται;
Buona cosa è il sale, ma se anche il sale perde il sapore, con che cosa verrà salato?
A good thing , , is salt ; the salt were made tasteless , with what will it be salted again ?

οὔτε εἰς γῆν οὔτε εἰς κοπρίαν εὔθετόν ἐστιν, ἔξω βάλλουσιν αὐτό. Ὁ ἔχων ὦτα ἀκούειν ἀκουέτω.
Non serve né per la terra né per il concime e così lo buttano via. Chi ha orecchi per ascoltare, ascolti».
It is not fit neither for the land nor for the dung heap : they throw it out . Whoever has ears to hear , let him hear .
