GreekἜλεγεν δὲ ταύτην τὴν παραβολήν· Συκῆν εἶχέν τις πεφυτευμένην ἐν τῷ ἀμπελῶνι αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἦλθεν ζητῶν καρπὸν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν.
Orthodox Reading* He kept sayingⓘ this parableⓘ as well: «A figⓘ tree stood plantedⓘ in his vineyardⓘ, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. *

Greekεἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τὸν ἀμπελουργόν· Ἰδοὺ τρία ἔτη ἀφ' οὗ ἔρχομαι ζητῶν καρπὸν ἐν τῇ συκῇ ταύτῃ καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκω. ἔκκοψον αὐτήν· ἱνατί καὶ τὴν γῆν καταργεῖ;
Orthodox Reading* He then said to the vinedresserⓘ: 'Beholdⓘ, for three yearsⓘ I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none. Cut it downⓘ: why does it render uselessⓘ the ground as well?'. *

Greekὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς λέγει αὐτῷ· Κύριε, ἄφες αὐτὴν καὶ τοῦτο τὸ ἔτος, ἕως ὅτου σκάψω περὶ αὐτὴν καὶ βάλω κόπρια,
Orthodox Reading* But that one, answering, says to himⓘ: 'Lordⓘ, leave itⓘ this year too, until I dig around it and put on it manureⓘ, *

Greekκἂν μὲν ποιήσῃ καρπὸν εἰς τὸ μέλλον· εἰ δὲ μή γε, ἐκκόψεις αὐτήν.
