GreekΚαί τινων λεγόντων περὶ τοῦ ἱεροῦ ὅτι λίθοις καλοῖς καὶ ἀναθήμασιν κεκόσμηται εἶπεν·
Orthodox ReadingAnd while some were speaking of the Templeⓘ, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and votive offerings (korbanot)ⓘ, he said:

GreekΤαῦτα ἃ θεωρεῖτε ἐλεύσονται ἡμέραι ἐν αἷς οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται λίθος ἐπὶ λίθῳ ὃς οὐ καταλυθήσεται.
Orthodox Reading«These things that you beholdⓘ — daysⓘ will come in which not a stone upon stoneⓘ will be left that will not be thrown downⓘ».

GreekἘπηρώτησαν δὲ αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Διδάσκαλε, πότε οὖν ταῦτα ἔσται καὶ τί τὸ σημεῖον ὅταν μέλλῃ ταῦτα γίνεσθαι;
Orthodox ReadingThey questioned him, saying: «Masterⓘ, when then will these things be, and what the signⓘ when they are about to happen?».

Greekὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Βλέπετε μὴ πλανηθῆτε· πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐλεύσονται ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου λέγοντες· Ἐγώ εἰμι, καί· Ὁ καιρὸς ἤγγικεν. μὴ πορευθῆτε ὀπίσω αὐτῶν.
Orthodox ReadingHe said: «See that you are not deceivedⓘ; for many will come in my nameⓘ saying: 'I am he', and: 'The timeⓘ has drawn near'. Do not go after them.

Greekὅταν δὲ ἀκούσητε πολέμους καὶ ἀκαταστασίας, μὴ πτοηθῆτε· δεῖ γὰρ ταῦτα γενέσθαι πρῶτον, ἀλλ' οὐκ εὐθέως τὸ τέλος.
Orthodox ReadingAnd when you hear of wars and uprisingsⓘ, do not be dismayed: these things must happen firstⓘ, but the endⓘ is not at once».

GreekΤότε ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Ἐγερθήσεται ἔθνος ἐπ' ἔθνος καὶ βασιλεία ἐπὶ βασιλείαν,

Greekσεισμοί τε μεγάλοι καὶ κατὰ τόπους λιμοὶ καὶ λοιμοὶ ἔσονται, φόβητρά τε καὶ ἀπ' οὐρανοῦ σημεῖα μεγάλα ἔσται.
Orthodox Readingand there will be great earthquakes and in various places famines and pestilences; there will be terrors and from heaven great signsⓘ.

GreekΠρὸ δὲ τούτων πάντων ἐπιβαλοῦσιν ἐφ' ὑμᾶς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν καὶ διώξουσιν, παραδιδόντες εἰς τὰς συναγωγὰς καὶ φυλακάς, ἀπαγομένους ἐπὶ βασιλεῖς καὶ ἡγεμόνας ἕνεκεν τοῦ ὀνόματός μου·
Orthodox ReadingBut before all these things they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, handing you overⓘ to the synagogues (beit knesset)ⓘ and to prisons, dragging you before kings and governorsⓘ on account of my nameⓘ.

Greekἀποβήσεται ὑμῖν εἰς μαρτύριον.

Greekἐγὼ γὰρ δώσω ὑμῖν στόμα καὶ σοφίαν ᾗ οὐ δυνήσονται ἀντιστῆναι ἢ ἀντειπεῖν ἅπαντες οἱ ἀντικείμενοι ὑμῖν.
Orthodox Readingfor I will give you a mouthⓘ and wisdomⓘ which none of your adversariesⓘ will be able to resist or contradict.

Greekπαραδοθήσεσθε δὲ καὶ ὑπὸ γονέων καὶ ἀδελφῶν καὶ συγγενῶν καὶ φίλων, καὶ θανατώσουσιν ἐξ ὑμῶν,
Orthodox ReadingYou will also be handed overⓘ by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death,

Greekκαὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου.
