Greekλέγων αὐτοῖς· Γέγραπται· Καὶ ἔσται ὁ οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς, ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐτὸν ἐποιήσατε σπήλαιον λῃστῶν.
Orthodox Readingsaying to them: «It is writtenⓘ: And my house shall be a house of prayerⓘ; you instead have made it a den of armed rebelsⓘ».

GreekΚαὶ ἦν διδάσκων τὸ καθ' ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ. οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν ἀπολέσαι καὶ οἱ πρῶτοι τοῦ λαοῦ,
Orthodox ReadingAnd he was teachingⓘ every day in the Temple. But the chief priests (the high-ranking kohanim)ⓘ and the scribesⓘ were seekingⓘ to destroy him, and so too the foremost of the peopleⓘ — the plot belongs to the leaders and the notables, not to the people nor to Israel as such.

Greekκαὶ οὐχ εὕρισκον τὸ τί ποιήσωσιν, ὁ λαὸς γὰρ ἅπας ἐξεκρέματο αὐτοῦ ἀκούων.
