Καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν ἤρξατο ἐκβάλλειν τοὺς πωλοῦντας

Ed entrato nel tempio, si mise a scacciare quelli che vendevano,

And having entered the Temple (miqdash)ⓘ, Jesus began to drive out those who were sellingⓘ,

λέγων αὐτοῖς· Γέγραπται· Καὶ ἔσται ὁ οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς, ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐτὸν ἐποιήσατε σπήλαιον λῃστῶν.

dicendo loro: «Sta scritto: La mia casa sarà casa di preghiera. Voi invece ne avete fatto un covo di ladri».

saying to them: «It is writtenⓘ: And my house shall be a house of prayerⓘ; you instead have made it a den of armed rebelsⓘ».

Καὶ ἦν διδάσκων τὸ καθ' ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ. οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν ἀπολέσαι καὶ οἱ πρῶτοι τοῦ λαοῦ,

Ogni giorno insegnava nel tempio. I capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi cercavano di farlo morire e così anche i capi del popolo;

And he was teachingⓘ every day in the Temple. But the chief priests (the high-ranking kohanim)ⓘ and the scribesⓘ were seekingⓘ to destroy him, and so too the foremost of the peopleⓘ — the plot belongs to the leaders and the notables, not to the people nor to Israel as such.

καὶ οὐχ εὕρισκον τὸ τί ποιήσωσιν, ὁ λαὸς γὰρ ἅπας ἐξεκρέματο αὐτοῦ ἀκούων.

ma non sapevano che cosa fare, perché tutto il popolo pendeva dalle sue labbra nell'ascoltarlo.

And they did not find what to do, since all the people, the am ha-aretzⓘ hung upon himⓘ as they listened to him.
