Παρῆσαν δέ τινες ἐν αὐτῷ τῷ καιρῷ ἀπαγγέλλοντες αὐτῷ περὶ τῶν Γαλιλαίων ὧν τὸ αἷμα Πιλᾶτος ἔμιξεν μετὰ τῶν θυσιῶν αὐτῶν.
In quel tempo alcuni si presentarono a riferirgli il fatto di quei Galilei, il cui sangue Pilato aveva fatto scorrere insieme a quello dei loro sacrifici.
At that time some came to report to him about those Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with that of their sacrificesⓘ.

καὶ ⸀ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Δοκεῖτε ὅτι οἱ Γαλιλαῖοι οὗτοι ἁμαρτωλοὶ παρὰ πάντας τοὺς Γαλιλαίους ἐγένοντο, ὅτι ⸀ταῦτα πεπόνθασιν;
Prendendo la parola, Gesù disse loro: «Credete che quei Galilei fossero più peccatori di tutti i Galilei, per aver subìto tale sorte?
Jesus said: «Do you think that those Galileans were greater sinners than all the Galileansⓘ, for having suffered such a fate?

οὐχί, λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀλλ’ ἐὰν μὴ μετανοῆτε πάντες ⸀ὁμοίως ἀπολεῖσθε.
No, io vi dico, ma se non vi convertite, perirete tutti allo stesso modo.
No, I tell youⓘ, but unless you repentⓘ, you will all perish in the same wayⓘ.

ἢ ἐκεῖνοι οἱ ⸀δεκαοκτὼ ἐφ’ οὓς ἔπεσεν ὁ πύργος ἐν τῷ Σιλωὰμ καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτούς, δοκεῖτε ὅτι ⸀αὐτοὶ ὀφειλέται ἐγένοντο παρὰ πάντας ⸀τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τοὺς ⸀κατοικοῦντας Ἰερουσαλήμ;
O quei diciotto, sopra i quali crollò la torre di Sìloe e li uccise, credete che fossero più colpevoli di tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme?
Or those eighteenⓘ on whom the tower of Siloamⓘ fell, do you think they were more guiltyⓘ than all the inhabitants of Jerusalemⓘ?

οὐχί, λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀλλ’ ἐὰν μὴ ⸀μετανοῆτε πάντες ⸀ὡσαύτως ἀπολεῖσθε.
No, io vi dico, ma se non vi convertite, perirete tutti allo stesso modo».
No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way».

Ἔλεγεν δὲ ταύτην τὴν παραβολήν. Συκῆν εἶχέν τις ⸂πεφυτευμένην ἐν τῷ ἀμπελῶνι αὐτοῦ⸃, καὶ ἦλθεν ζητῶν καρπὸν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν.
Diceva anche questa parabola: «Un tale aveva piantato un albero di fichi nella sua vigna e venne a cercarvi frutti, ma non ne trovò.
He also told this parableⓘ: «A certain man had planted a fig tree in his vineyardⓘ and came looking for fruit on it, but found none.

εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τὸν ἀμπελουργόν· Ἰδοὺ τρία ἔτη ⸂ἀφ’ οὗ⸃ ἔρχομαι ζητῶν καρπὸν ἐν τῇ συκῇ ταύτῃ καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκω· ⸀ἔκκοψον αὐτήν· ἱνατί καὶ τὴν γῆν καταργεῖ;
Allora disse al vignaiolo: Ecco, sono tre anni che vengo a cercare frutti su quest'albero, ma non ne trovo. Tàglialo dunque! Perché deve sfruttare il terreno?
He said to the vinedresserⓘ: For three yearsⓘ I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it downⓘ! Why should it use up the soil?

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς λέγει αὐτῷ· Κύριε, ἄφες αὐτὴν καὶ τοῦτο τὸ ἔτος, ἕως ὅτου σκάψω περὶ αὐτὴν καὶ βάλω κόπρια·
Ma quello gli rispose: Padrone, lascialo ancora quest'anno, finché gli avrò zappato attorno e avrò messo il concime.
But he answered: Master, leave it one more yearⓘ, until I have dug around it and put on manureⓘ.

κἂν μὲν ποιήσῃ καρπὸν ⸂εἰς τὸ μέλλον— εἰ δὲ μήγε,⸃ ἐκκόψεις αὐτήν.
Vedremo se porterà frutti per l'avvenire; se no, lo taglierai».
We shall see whether it bears fruit; if not, you will cut it downⓘ».
