GreekΚαὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἶναι αὐτὸν ἐν μιᾷ τῶν πόλεων καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ πλήρης λέπρας· ⸂καὶ ἰδὼν⸃ τὸν Ἰησοῦν πεσὼν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐδεήθη αὐτοῦ λέγων· Κύριε, ἐὰν θέλῃς δύνασαί με καθαρίσαι.
Orthodox ReadingWhile Jesus was in a town, behold, a man covered with leprosyⓘ; seeing Jesus, he threw himself before him with his face to the ground and begged him: «Lord, if you will, you can make me cleanⓘ».

Greekκαὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἥψατο αὐτοῦ ⸀εἰπών· Θέλω, καθαρίσθητι· καὶ εὐθέως ἡ λέπρα ἀπῆλθεν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingJesus stretched out his hand and touched himⓘ, saying: «I will it, be made clean!». And at once the leprosy left him.

Greekκαὶ αὐτὸς παρήγγειλεν αὐτῷ μηδενὶ εἰπεῖν, ἀλλὰ ἀπελθὼν δεῖξον σεαυτὸν τῷ ἱερεῖ, καὶ προσένεγκε περὶ τοῦ καθαρισμοῦ σου καθὼς προσέταξεν Μωϋσῆς εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς.
Orthodox ReadingHe ordered him to tell no one: «Go instead and show yourself to the priest (kohen)ⓘ and present the offering of purification (korban of taharah) as Moses prescribedⓘ, as a testimony to themⓘ».

Greekδιήρχετο δὲ μᾶλλον ὁ λόγος περὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ συνήρχοντο ὄχλοι πολλοὶ ἀκούειν καὶ ⸀θεραπεύεσθαι ἀπὸ τῶν ἀσθενειῶν αὐτῶν·

GreekΚαὶ ἐγένετο ἐν μιᾷ τῶν ἡμερῶν καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν διδάσκων, καὶ ἦσαν καθήμενοι Φαρισαῖοι καὶ νομοδιδάσκαλοι οἳ ἦσαν ἐληλυθότες ἐκ πάσης κώμης τῆς Γαλιλαίας καὶ Ἰουδαίας καὶ Ἰερουσαλήμ· καὶ δύναμις κυρίου ἦν εἰς τὸ ἰᾶσθαι ⸀αὐτόν.
Orthodox ReadingHe was teachingⓘ. Sitting there were also the Pharisees (perushim)ⓘ and the teachers of the Torah (soferim)ⓘ, who had come from every village of Galilee, of Judea, and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lordⓘ enabled him to perform healings.

Greekκαὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνδρες φέροντες ἐπὶ κλίνης ἄνθρωπον ὃς ἦν παραλελυμένος, καὶ ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν εἰσενεγκεῖν καὶ ⸀θεῖναι ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingAnd behold, some menⓘ, carrying on a bed a paralyzed manⓘ, were trying to set him before him.

Greekκαὶ μὴ εὑρόντες ποίας εἰσενέγκωσιν αὐτὸν διὰ τὸν ὄχλον ἀναβάντες ἐπὶ τὸ δῶμα διὰ τῶν κεράμων καθῆκαν αὐτὸν σὺν τῷ κλινιδίῳ εἰς τὸ μέσον ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.
Orthodox ReadingNot finding a way in because of the crowdⓘ, they went up onto the roofⓘ and, through the tiles, lowered him with the little bed before Jesus, into the midst.

Greekκαὶ ἰδὼν τὴν πίστιν αὐτῶν ⸀εἶπεν· Ἄνθρωπε, ἀφέωνταί σοι αἱ ἁμαρτίαι σου.

Greekκαὶ ἤρξαντο διαλογίζεσθαι οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι λέγοντες· Τίς ἐστιν οὗτος ὃς λαλεῖ βλασφημίας; τίς δύναται ⸂ἁμαρτίας ἀφεῖναι⸃ εἰ μὴ μόνος ὁ θεός;
Orthodox ReadingThe scribes (soferim)ⓘ and the Pharisees (perushim)ⓘ began to argue, saying: «Who is this who utters blasphemiesⓘ? Who can forgive sins but God aloneⓘ?».

Greekἐπιγνοὺς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοὺς διαλογισμοὺς αὐτῶν ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς· Τί διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν;

Greekἵνα δὲ εἰδῆτε ὅτι ⸂ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐξουσίαν ἔχει⸃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἀφιέναι ἁμαρτίας— εἶπεν τῷ παραλελυμένῳ· Σοὶ λέγω, ⸀ἔγειρε καὶ ἄρας τὸ κλινίδιόν σου πορεύου εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου.
Orthodox ReadingNow, that you may know that the Son of Man has the power on earth to forgive sinsⓘ, I say to you — he said to the paralytic —: rise, take up your little bed, and go to your house».

Greekκαὶ παραχρῆμα ἀναστὰς ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν, ἄρας ἐφ’ ὃ κατέκειτο, ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ δοξάζων τὸν θεόν.
Orthodox ReadingAt once he rose before them, took up the little bed, and went to his house glorifying Godⓘ.

Greekκαὶ ἔκστασις ἔλαβεν ἅπαντας καὶ ἐδόξαζον τὸν θεόν, καὶ ἐπλήσθησαν φόβου λέγοντες ὅτι Εἴδομεν παράδοξα σήμερον.
