Καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐπορεύθη κατὰ τὸ ἔθος εἰς τὸ Ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν, ἠκολούθησαν δὲ αὐτῷ καὶ οἱ μαθηταί.
Uscì e andò, come al solito, al monte degli Ulivi; anche i discepoli lo seguirono.
And having gone out, he went, according to his customⓘ, toward the Mount of Olives Mount of Olivesⓘ; and his disciples also followed him disciplesⓘ.

γενόμενος δὲ ἐπὶ τοῦ τόπου εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Προσεύχεσθε μὴ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς πειρασμόν.
Giunto sul luogo, disse loro: «Pregate, per non entrare in tentazione».
And when he had come to the placeⓘ, he said to them: «Pray Prayⓘ, so as not to enter into temptationⓘ».

καὶ αὐτὸς ἀπεσπάσθη ἀπ' αὐτῶν ὡσεὶ λίθου βολήν καὶ θεὶς τὰ γόνατα προσηύχετο
Poi si allontanò da loro circa un tiro di sasso, cadde in ginocchio e pregava dicendo:
And he himself withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and having knelt down having knelt downⓘ he kept praying he kept prayingⓘ,

λέγων· Πάτερ, εἰ βούλει παρένεγκε τοῦτο τὸ ποτήριον ἀπ' ἐμοῦ· πλὴν μὴ τὸ θέλημά μου ἀλλὰ τὸ σὸν γινέσθω.
«Padre, se vuoi, allontana da me questo calice! Tuttavia non sia fatta la mia, ma la tua volontà».
saying: «Abba Fatherⓘ Father, if you are willing, take away take awayⓘ this cup from me cupⓘ; yet not my will willⓘ, but let yours be done».

ὤφθη δὲ αὐτῷ ἄγγελος ἀπ' οὐρανοῦ ἐνισχύων αὐτόν.
Gli apparve allora un angelo dal cielo per confortarlo.
And there appeared appearedⓘ to him an angel angelⓘ from heaven who strengthened him.
44
καὶ γενόμενος ἐν ἀγωνίᾳ ἐκτενέστερον προσηύχετο· καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ ἱδρὼς αὐτοῦ ὡσεὶ θρόμβοι αἵματος καταβαίνοντες ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν.
Entrato nella lotta, pregava più intensamente, e il suo sudore diventò come gocce di sangue che cadono a terra.
And having entered into agonyⓘ, he prayed more intensely; and his sweat became like clots of blood clots of bloodⓘ falling down upon the ground.

καὶ ἀναστὰς ἀπὸ τῆς προσευχῆς ἐλθὼν πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς εὗρεν κοιμωμένους αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς λύπης,
Poi, rialzatosi dalla preghiera, andò dai discepoli e li trovò che dormivano per la tristezza.
And having risen having risenⓘ from prayer, having come to his disciples disciplesⓘ, he found them asleep from sorrow sorrowⓘ.

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Τί καθεύδετε; ἀναστάντες προσεύχεσθε, ἵνα μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν.
E disse loro: «Perché dormite? Alzatevi e pregate, per non entrare in tentazione».
And he said to them: «Why do you sleep? Rise up Rise upⓘ and pray prayⓘ, so as not to enter into temptation».
