Καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν Ἰωάννῃ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ περὶ πάντων τούτων. καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος δύο τινὰς τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ὁ Ἰωάννης
Giovanni fu informato dai suoi discepoli di tutte queste cose. Chiamati quindi due di loro,
And John's disciplesⓘ reportedⓘ to him concerning all these things. And, calling to himself two of his disciples, John

ἔπεμψεν πρὸς τὸν κύριον λέγων· Σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ἄλλον προσδοκῶμεν;
Giovanni li mandò a dire al Signore: «Sei tu colui che deve venire o dobbiamo aspettare un altro?».
sent them as agents (shlichìm)ⓘ to the Lordⓘ saying: «Are you the one who comesⓘ, or do we awaitⓘ another?»

παραγενόμενοι δὲ πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες εἶπαν· Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστὴς ἀπέστειλεν ἡμᾶς πρὸς σὲ λέγων· Σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ἄλλον προσδοκῶμεν;
Venuti da lui, quegli uomini dissero: «Giovanni il Battista ci ha mandati da te per domandarti: 'Sei tu colui che deve venire o dobbiamo aspettare un altro?'».
Having come to him, the men said: «John the immerserⓘ, the one who administers the tevilah (the ritual immersion of purification and of teshuvah), sent us to you saying: "Are you the one who comes, or do we await another?"»

ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐθεράπευσεν πολλοὺς ἀπὸ νόσων καὶ μαστίγων καὶ πνευμάτων πονηρῶν καὶ τυφλοῖς πολλοῖς ἐχαρίσατο βλέπειν.
In quello stesso momento Gesù guarì molti da malattie, da infermità, da spiriti cattivi e donò la vista a molti ciechi.
In that very hour he healedⓘ many from infirmitiesⓘ and afflictionsⓘ and from evil spiritsⓘ, and to many blindⓘ he granted sightⓘ.

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Πορευθέντες ἀπαγγείλατε Ἰωάννῃ ἃ εἴδετε καὶ ἠκούσατε· τυφλοὶ ἀναβλέπουσιν, χωλοὶ περιπατοῦσιν, λεπροὶ καθαρίζονται καὶ κωφοὶ ἀκούουσιν, νεκροὶ ἐγείρονται, πτωχοὶ εὐαγγελίζονται·
Poi diede loro questa risposta: «Andate e riferite a Giovanni ciò che avete visto e udito: i ciechi riacquistano la vista, gli zoppi camminano, i lebbrosi sono purificati, i sordi odono, i morti risuscitano, ai poveri è annunciata la buona notizia.
And answering he said to them: «Go, reportⓘ to John what you have seen and heardⓘ: the blind see againⓘ, the lame walk, the lepers are purified and reintegrated into the community according to the taharah of Lev 13-14ⓘ and the deaf hear, the dead are raisedⓘ, to the poor — the anawimⓘ, the poor of YHWH — the good news is proclaimedⓘ;

καὶ μακάριός ἐστιν ὃς ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί.
E beato è colui che non trova in me motivo di scandalo!».
and blessed is the one who is not scandalized in meⓘ.»
