Ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἔρχεταί τις παρὰ τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου λέγων ὅτι Τέθνηκεν ἡ θυγάτηρ σου, μηκέτι σκύλλε τὸν διδάσκαλον.
Stava ancora parlando, quando arrivò uno dalla casa del capo della sinagoga e disse: «Tua figlia è morta, non disturbare più il maestro».
While he was still speaking, someone arrives from the house of the synagogue ruler (the archisynagogos) synagogue rulerⓘ, saying: «Your daughter has diedⓘ; do not troubleⓘ the Teacherⓘ any longer».

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἀκούσας ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ· Μὴ φοβοῦ, μόνον πίστευσον, καὶ σωθήσεται.
Ma Gesù, avendo udito, rispose: «Non temere, soltanto abbi fede e sarà salvata».
But Jesus, having heardⓘ, answered him: «Do not fearⓘ, only have faithⓘ, and she will be savedⓘ».

ἐλθὼν δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν οὐκ ἀφῆκεν εἰσελθεῖν τινα σὺν αὐτῷ εἰ μὴ Πέτρον καὶ Ἰωάννην καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ τὸν πατέρα τῆς παιδὸς καὶ τὴν μητέρα.
Giunto alla casa, non permise a nessuno di entrare con lui, fuorché a Pietro, Giovanni e Giacomo e al padre e alla madre della fanciulla.
Having arrived at the house, he did not allow anyone to enter with him, except Peter and John and James Peter, John, Jamesⓘ, and the father of the girl and the mother.

ἔκλαιον δὲ πάντες καὶ ἐκόπτοντο αὐτήν. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Μὴ κλαίετε, οὐ γὰρ ἀπέθανεν ἀλλὰ καθεύδει.
Tutti piangevano e facevano il lamento su di lei. Gesù disse: «Non piangete. Non è morta, ma dorme».
All were weeping and making the lamentⓘ, the ritual funeral lament funeral lamentⓘ over her. But he said: «Do not weep; she has not diedⓘ but is sleepingⓘ».

καὶ κατεγέλων αὐτοῦ εἰδότες ὅτι ἀπέθανεν.
Essi lo deridevano, sapendo bene che era morta;
And they laughed at himⓘ, knowing that she had died.

αὐτὸς δὲ κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς ἐφώνησεν λέγων· Ἡ παῖς, ἔγειρε.
ma egli le prese la mano e disse ad alta voce: «Fanciulla, àlzati!».
And he, having taken her handⓘ, called outⓘ saying: «Girl, arise ariseⓘ».

καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτῆς καὶ ἀνέστη παραχρῆμα καὶ διέταξεν αὐτῇ δοθῆναι φαγεῖν.
La vita ritornò in lei e si alzò all'istante. Egli ordinò di darle da mangiare.
And her spirit returnedⓘ and at once she roseⓘ; and he commanded that she be given something to eatⓘ.

καὶ ἐξέστησαν οἱ γονεῖς αὐτῆς· ὁ δὲ παρήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς μηδενὶ εἰπεῖν τὸ γεγονός.
I genitori ne furono sbalorditi, ma egli ordinò loro di non raccontare a nessuno ciò che era accaduto.
And her parentsⓘ were astonishedⓘ; but he ordered them to tell no oneⓘ what had happened.
