Ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ⸀μαθητάς· Ἄνθρωπός τις ἦν πλούσιος ὃς εἶχεν οἰκονόμον, καὶ οὗτος διεβλήθη αὐτῷ ὡς διασκορπίζων τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ.
Diceva anche ai discepoli: «Un uomo ricco aveva un amministratore, e questi fu accusato dinanzi a lui di sperperare i suoi averi.
He said to his disciplesⓘ: «A rich man had a stewardⓘ, accused of squandering his possessionsⓘ.

καὶ φωνήσας αὐτὸν εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Τί τοῦτο ἀκούω περὶ σοῦ; ἀπόδος τὸν λόγον τῆς οἰκονομίας σου, οὐ γὰρ ⸀δύνῃ ἔτι οἰκονομεῖν.
Lo chiamò e gli disse: Che cosa sento dire di te? Rendi conto della tua amministrazione, perché non potrai più amministrare.
He summoned him: Give an account of your stewardship, you shall no longer be steward.

εἶπεν δὲ ἐν ἑαυτῷ ὁ οἰκονόμος· Τί ποιήσω ὅτι ὁ κύριός μου ἀφαιρεῖται τὴν οἰκονομίαν ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ; σκάπτειν οὐκ ἰσχύω, ἐπαιτεῖν αἰσχύνομαι·
L'amministratore disse tra sé: Che cosa farò, ora che il mio padrone mi toglie l'amministrazione? Zappare, non ne ho la forza; mendicare, mi vergogno.
The steward said to himselfⓘ: What shall I do? To dig I am unable, to beg I am ashamed.

ἔγνων τί ποιήσω, ἵνα ὅταν μετασταθῶ ⸀ἐκ τῆς οἰκονομίας δέξωνταί με εἰς τοὺς οἴκους ⸀ἑαυτῶν.
So io che cosa farò perché, quando sarò stato allontanato dall'amministrazione, ci sia qualcuno che mi accolga in casa sua.
I know what I shall do, so that they may receive me into their houses.

καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος ἕνα ἕκαστον τῶν χρεοφειλετῶν τοῦ κυρίου ἑαυτοῦ ἔλεγεν τῷ πρώτῳ· Πόσον ὀφείλεις τῷ κυρίῳ μου;
Chiamò uno per uno i debitori del suo padrone e disse al primo: Tu quanto devi al mio padrone?
He called the master's debtorsⓘ one by one. To the first: How much do you owe?

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ἑκατὸν βάτους ἐλαίου· ⸂ὁ δὲ⸃ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Δέξαι σου ⸂τὰ γράμματα⸃ καὶ καθίσας ταχέως γράψον πεντήκοντα.
Quello rispose: Cento barili d'olio. Gli disse: Prendi la tua ricevuta, siediti subito e scrivi cinquanta.
A hundred measures of oilⓘ. Take the receiptⓘ, write fifty.

ἔπειτα ἑτέρῳ εἶπεν· Σὺ δὲ πόσον ὀφείλεις; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Ἑκατὸν κόρους σίτου· ⸀λέγει αὐτῷ· Δέξαι σου ⸂τὰ γράμματα⸃ καὶ γράψον ὀγδοήκοντα.
Poi disse a un altro: Tu quanto devi? Rispose: Cento misure di grano. Gli disse: Prendi la tua ricevuta e scrivi ottanta.
To another: A hundred measures of grainⓘ. Write eighty.

καὶ ἐπῄνεσεν ὁ κύριος τὸν οἰκονόμον τῆς ἀδικίας ὅτι φρονίμως ἐποίησεν· ὅτι οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου φρονιμώτεροι ὑπὲρ τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ φωτὸς εἰς τὴν γενεὰν τὴν ἑαυτῶν εἰσιν.
Il padrone lodò quell'amministratore disonesto, perché aveva agito con scaltrezza. I figli di questo mondo, infatti, verso i loro pari sono più scaltri dei figli della luce.
The master commended the dishonest steward because he had acted shrewdlyⓘ. The sons of this worldⓘ are shrewder than the sons of lightⓘ.

καὶ ἐγὼ ὑμῖν λέγω, ⸂ἑαυτοῖς ποιήσατε⸃ φίλους ἐκ τοῦ μαμωνᾶ τῆς ἀδικίας, ἵνα ὅταν ⸀ἐκλίπῃ δέξωνται ὑμᾶς εἰς τὰς αἰωνίους σκηνάς.
Ebbene, io vi dico: fatevi degli amici con la ricchezza disonesta, perché, quando questa verrà a mancare, essi vi accolgano nelle dimore eterne.
I say to you: make for yourselves friends, by means of tzedaqah (justice-almsgiving), with the unrighteous mammonⓘ, so that they may receive you into the eternal dwellingsⓘ.

Ὁ πιστὸς ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ καὶ ἐν πολλῷ πιστός ἐστιν, καὶ ὁ ἐν ἐλαχίστῳ ἄδικος καὶ ἐν πολλῷ ἄδικός ἐστιν.
Chi è fedele in cose di poco conto, è fedele anche in cose importanti; e chi è disonesto in cose di poco conto, è disonesto anche in cose importanti.
Whoever is faithful in littleⓘ is faithful also in much; whoever is dishonest in littleⓘ is so also in much.

εἰ οὖν ἐν τῷ ἀδίκῳ μαμωνᾷ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ἀληθινὸν τίς ὑμῖν πιστεύσει;
Se dunque non siete stati fedeli nella ricchezza disonesta, chi vi affiderà quella vera?
If you are not faithful with the unrighteous mammonⓘ, who will entrust to you the true riches?

καὶ εἰ ἐν τῷ ἀλλοτρίῳ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ⸀ὑμέτερον τίς ⸂δώσει ὑμῖν⸃;
E se non siete stati fedeli nella ricchezza altrui, chi vi darà la vostra?
And if you are not faithful with what belongs to anotherⓘ, who will give you what is your own?

οὐδεὶς οἰκέτης δύναται δυσὶ κυρίοις δουλεύειν· ἢ γὰρ τὸν ἕνα μισήσει καὶ τὸν ἕτερον ἀγαπήσει, ἢ ἑνὸς ἀνθέξεται καὶ τοῦ ἑτέρου καταφρονήσει. οὐ δύνασθε θεῷ δουλεύειν καὶ μαμωνᾷ.
Nessun servo può servire due padroni: o odierà l'uno e amerà l'altro, oppure si affezionerà all'uno e disprezzerà l'altro. Non potete servire Dio e la ricchezza».
No servant can serve two mastersⓘ: you cannot serve God and mammonⓘ».

Ἤκουον δὲ ταῦτα ⸀πάντα οἱ Φαρισαῖοι φιλάργυροι ὑπάρχοντες, καὶ ἐξεμυκτήριζον αὐτόν.
I farisei, che erano attaccati al denaro, ascoltavano tutte queste cose e si facevano beffe di lui.
The Pharisees (perushim)ⓘ, lovers of moneyⓘ, scoffed at him.

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ δικαιοῦντες ἑαυτοὺς ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὁ δὲ θεὸς γινώσκει τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν· ὅτι τὸ ἐν ἀνθρώποις ὑψηλὸν βδέλυγμα ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.
Egli disse loro: «Voi siete quelli che si ritengono giusti davanti agli uomini, ma Dio conosce i vostri cuori: ciò che fra gli uomini viene esaltato, davanti a Dio è cosa abominevole.
He said: «You consider yourselves righteous before menⓘ, but God knows hearts: what men exalt is an abomination before Godⓘ.

Ὁ νόμος καὶ οἱ προφῆται ⸀μέχρι Ἰωάννου· ἀπὸ τότε ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ εὐαγγελίζεται καὶ πᾶς εἰς αὐτὴν βιάζεται.
La Legge e i Profeti fino a Giovanni: da allora in poi viene annunciato il regno di Dio e ognuno si sforza di entrarvi.
The Torahⓘ and the Prophets (Nevi'im) reach as far as Johnⓘ: from then on the malkhut (the royal sovereignty) of God is proclaimed and everyone strives to enter itⓘ.

Εὐκοπώτερον δέ ἐστιν τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν παρελθεῖν ἢ τοῦ νόμου μίαν κεραίαν πεσεῖν.
È più facile che cielo e terra passino, anziché cada un solo trattino della Legge.
It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for a single stroke of the Torah to fallⓘ.

Πᾶς ὁ ἀπολύων τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ γαμῶν ἑτέραν μοιχεύει, ⸀καὶ ὁ ἀπολελυμένην ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς γαμῶν μοιχεύει.
Chiunque ripudia la propria moglie e ne sposa un'altra, commette adulterio; chi sposa una donna ripudiata dal marito, commette adulterio».
Whoever dismisses his wife with a get (the writ of repudiation) and marries another commits adulteryⓘ».
