Καὶ διεπορεύετο κατὰ πόλεις καὶ κώμας διδάσκων καὶ πορείαν ποιούμενος εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα.
Passava insegnando per città e villaggi, mentre era in cammino verso Gerusalemme.
And he passed through from town to town and from village to village teachingⓘ, while making his way toward Jerusalemⓘ.

εἶπεν δέ τις αὐτῷ· Κύριε, εἰ ὀλίγοι οἱ σῳζόμενοι; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς·
Un tale gli chiese: «Signore, sono pochi quelli che si salvano?». Disse loro:
And someone said to him: «Lord, are those who are savedⓘ few?». And he said to them:

Ἀγωνίζεσθε εἰσελθεῖν διὰ τῆς στενῆς θύρας, ὅτι πολλοί, λέγω ὑμῖν, ζητήσουσιν εἰσελθεῖν καὶ οὐκ ἰσχύσουσιν.
«Sforzatevi di entrare per la porta stretta, perché molti, io vi dico, cercheranno di entrare, ma non ci riusciranno.
«Strive to enter through the narrow doorⓘ — the verb is that of the contest, exert yourselves as in a race — because many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not have the strength.

ἀφ' οὗ ἂν ἐγερθῇ ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης καὶ ἀποκλείσῃ τὴν θύραν καὶ ἄρξησθε ἔξω ἑστάναι καὶ κρούειν τὴν θύραν λέγοντες· Κύριε, ἄνοιξον ἡμῖν, καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ἐρεῖ ὑμῖν· Οὐκ οἶδα ὑμᾶς πόθεν ἐστέ.
Quando il padrone di casa si alzerà e chiuderà la porta, voi, rimasti fuori, comincerete a bussare alla porta, dicendo: 'Signore, aprici!'. Ma egli vi risponderà: 'Non so di dove siete'.
From the moment the master of the houseⓘ has risen and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knockⓘ at the door, saying: Lord, open to us! — he, answering, will say to you: I do not know you, where you are from.

τότε ἄρξεσθε λέγειν· Ἐφάγομεν ἐνώπιόν σου καὶ ἐπίομεν καὶ ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις ἡμῶν ἐδίδαξας·
Allora comincerete a dire: 'Abbiamo mangiato e bevuto in tua presenza e tu hai insegnato nelle nostre piazze'.
Then you will begin to say: We ate and drank before youⓘ, and in our squares you taught;

καὶ ἐρεῖ λέγων ὑμῖν· Οὐκ οἶδα πόθεν ἐστέ· ἀπόστητε ἀπ' ἐμοῦ πάντες ἐργάται ἀδικίας.
Ma egli vi dichiarerà: 'Voi, non so di dove siete. Allontanatevi da me, voi tutti operatori di ingiustizia!'.
and he will say, speaking to you: I do not know where you are from; depart from meⓘ, all you workers of injusticeⓘ.

ἐκεῖ ἔσται ὁ κλαυθμὸς καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων, ὅταν ὄψησθε Ἀβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακὼβ καὶ πάντας τοὺς προφήτας ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ, ὑμᾶς δὲ ἐκβαλλομένους ἔξω.
Là ci sarà pianto e stridore di denti, quando vedrete Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe e tutti i profeti nel regno di Dio, voi invece cacciati fuori.
There will be the weeping and gnashing of teethⓘ, when you see Abrahamⓘ and Isaacⓘ and Jacobⓘ and all the prophetsⓘ in the Kingdom of Godⓘ, but you yourselves cast outⓘ.

καὶ ἥξουσιν ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ δυσμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ βορρᾶ καὶ νότου καὶ ἀνακλιθήσονται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ.
Verranno da oriente e da occidente, da settentrione e da mezzogiorno e siederanno a mensa nel regno di Dio.
And they will comeⓘ from east and from west, from north and from south, and they will recline at tableⓘ in the Kingdom of God.

καὶ ἰδοὺ εἰσὶν ἔσχατοι οἳ ἔσονται πρῶτοι καὶ εἰσὶν πρῶτοι οἳ ἔσονται ἔσχατοι.
Ed ecco, vi sono ultimi che saranno primi, e vi sono primi che saranno ultimi».
And behold, there are last who will be firstⓘ, and there are first destined to become last».
