Ἐν δὲ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἕκτῳ ἀπεστάλη ὁ ἄγγελος Γαβριὴλ ⸀ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς πόλιν τῆς Γαλιλαίας ᾗ ὄνομα Ναζαρὲθ
Al sesto mese, l'angelo Gabriele fu mandato da Dio in una città della Galilea, chiamata Nazaret,
In the sixth month the angel Gabrielⓘ was sent from God — dispatched as a shaliach (an envoy who acts in place of the one who sends him) — to a town of Galilee called Nazarethⓘ,

πρὸς παρθένον ⸀ἐμνηστευμένην ἀνδρὶ ᾧ ὄνομα Ἰωσὴφ ἐξ οἴκου Δαυίδ, καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς παρθένου Μαριάμ.
a una vergine, promessa sposa di un uomo della casa di Davide, di nome Giuseppe. La vergine si chiamava Maria.
to a virginⓘ betrothed according to the kiddushin (the Jewish spousal contract, already binding halakhically like marriage itself) to a man of the house of Davidⓘ named Joseph; and the name of the virgin was Maryⓘ.

καὶ ⸀εἰσελθὼν πρὸς αὐτὴν εἶπεν· Χαῖρε, κεχαριτωμένη, ὁ κύριος μετὰ ⸀σοῦ.
Entrando da lei, disse: «Rallègrati, piena di grazia: il Signore è con te».
Coming to her, the angel said: «Rejoiceⓘ, made an object of graceⓘ: the Lord is with youⓘ».

ἡ δὲ ⸂ἐπὶ τῷ λόγῳ διεταράχθη⸃ καὶ διελογίζετο ποταπὸς εἴη ὁ ἀσπασμὸς οὗτος.
A queste parole ella fu molto turbata e si domandava che senso avesse un saluto come questo.
At this word she was deeply troubledⓘ and wondered what kind of greeting this might beⓘ.

καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἄγγελος αὐτῇ· Μὴ φοβοῦ, Μαριάμ, εὗρες γὰρ χάριν παρὰ τῷ θεῷ·
L'angelo le disse: «Non temere, Maria, perché hai trovato grazia presso Dio.
And the angel said to her: «Do not fearⓘ, Mary, for you have found grace before Godⓘ.

καὶ ἰδοὺ συλλήμψῃ ἐν γαστρὶ καὶ τέξῃ υἱόν, καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰησοῦν.
Ed ecco, concepirai un figlio, lo darai alla luce e lo chiamerai Gesù.
And behold, you will conceive in your wombⓘ and you will give birth to a son, and you will call him Jesusⓘ.

οὗτος ἔσται μέγας καὶ υἱὸς Ὑψίστου κληθήσεται, καὶ δώσει αὐτῷ κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὸν θρόνον Δαυὶδ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ,
Sarà grande e verrà chiamato Figlio dell'Altissimo; il Signore Dio gli darà il trono di Davide suo padre
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most Highⓘ, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his fatherⓘ,

καὶ βασιλεύσει ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Ἰακὼβ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας, καὶ τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἔσται τέλος.
e regnerà per sempre sulla casa di Giacobbe e il suo regno non avrà fine».
and he will reign over the house of Jacob for the agesⓘ, and of his kingdom there will be no endⓘ».

εἶπεν δὲ Μαριὰμ πρὸς τὸν ἄγγελον· Πῶς ἔσται τοῦτο, ἐπεὶ ἄνδρα οὐ γινώσκω;
Allora Maria disse all'angelo: «Come avverrà questo, poiché non conosco uomo?».
Mary said to the angel: «How will this happen, since I do not know a manⓘ?».

καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἄγγελος εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Πνεῦμα ἅγιον ἐπελεύσεται ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ δύναμις Ὑψίστου ἐπισκιάσει σοι· διὸ καὶ τὸ γεννώμενον ἅγιον κληθήσεται, υἱὸς θεοῦ·
Le rispose l'angelo: «Lo Spirito Santo scenderà su di te e la potenza dell'Altissimo ti coprirà con la sua ombra. Perciò colui che nascerà sarà santo e sarà chiamato Figlio di Dio.
The angel answered her: «The Holy Spirit will come upon youⓘ, and the power of the Most High will overshadow youⓘ; therefore the one who will be born holyⓘ will be called — by passivum divinum (the prophetic passive that implies God as agent without naming him) — Son of Godⓘ.

καὶ ἰδοὺ Ἐλισάβετ ἡ ⸀συγγενίς σου καὶ αὐτὴ ⸀συνείληφεν υἱὸν ἐν γήρει αὐτῆς, καὶ οὗτος μὴν ἕκτος ἐστὶν αὐτῇ τῇ καλουμένῃ στείρᾳ·
Ed ecco, Elisabetta, tua parente, nella sua vecchiaia ha concepito anch'essa un figlio e questo è il sesto mese per lei, che era detta sterile:
And behold, Elizabeth your relativeⓘ has also conceived a son in her old age, and is already in her sixth month, she who was said to be barrenⓘ;

ὅτι οὐκ ἀδυνατήσει παρὰ ⸂τοῦ θεοῦ⸃ πᾶν ῥῆμα.
nulla è impossibile a Dio».
for no word will be impossible with Godⓘ».
38
εἶπεν δὲ Μαριάμ· Ἰδοὺ ἡ δούλη κυρίου· γένοιτό μοι κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου. καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἀπ’ αὐτῆς ὁ ἄγγελος.
Allora Maria disse: «Ecco la serva del Signore: avvenga per me secondo la tua parola». E l'angelo si allontanò da lei.
Mary said: «Behold, the handmaid of the Lordⓘ: let it be done to me according to your wordⓘ». And the angel departed from her.
